Brenda makes her annual visit!

Brenda and brother Bart, the infamous brain surgeons from Chicago made their annual visit to Depner Farms to get lost in our Giant Alien Maze. They made it in record time; 13 hours and 27 minutes and they even found 5 out of 6 punches!! Nice job guys!! I'm glad to see your education has paid off!!!

Our brand new activity on the schedule this year is the ALL NEW "Corn Cannon",
which fires just about anything we decide to drop down the barrel. Hit the chicken

I've been suspicious ever since I found
those mysteriously cut corn stalks the other day. Lastnight I woke up again to a strange rustling sound coming
from the cornfield. I immediately grabbed my camera and went out to get a closer look. Could it be??? I wonder if they're friendly???

The other night I awoke from a deep sleep, hearing strange cutting noises and bright lights coming from the field. Next morning I took a closer look. Hmmm..... Could it be?

The Old Orchard

All that's left of the old orchard here are two pear trees. Here's a photo of one of them, in full blossom.
When I was a kid, there also used to be a Rome Apple and a Plum, delicious for canning or just eating
right off the tree.

Spring is here!!!

Hi Folks!! Spring is finally here and planting time is approaching!! The DepnerFarms cornfieldcam shows us preparing
the field for this year's maze. Conditions are dry so your raindances are appreciated. The pumpkin
seeds are ordered and hopefully we'll be planting them by Memorial Day weekend, or near that time.
As always, we welcome any volunteers who might enjoy getting dirt under their fingernails! :)

Then it was down to the local marina to watch some polar bear dipping action, as hundreds of onlookers gathered around. I don't think this is a farmers activity, so count me out... but I've got to hand it to these folks. It was a frigid day! "BURRRRR!!!"

Broomball Action at Shanty Days '08

It was a great day today for Caseville's Shanty Days, so let's see what we can find downtown.... Here, the broomball competition heats up down at the Caseville County Park. If you like dangerous action, you'd definitely love this sport. I'd strongly recommend wearing some type of faceguard if you'd like to go home with all of your teeth!

Winter is upon us...

Winter is officially upon us... for some of us that means time to catch up on a little rest, some missed meals, reflect on the past year and think about the things that we're thankful for such as our health, family and friends. For some of us, winter is also a time to look ahead to the future and make plans for the year ahead. "Phil the ground hog" has reportedly seen his shadow.... today we're being heavily hit by the strongest snow storm of the season.

"Get Lost for a Cause" a Success!!!

Well, the season is officially over now, and our "Get Lost for a Cause" was a great success!! Despite losing half the weekend due to wet and rainy weather, we still were able to raise a total of $687.04 on Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon alone to benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation. The weather was perfect on Sunday afternoon and we had a great time! Thanks to everyone who came out to participate. A great group of folks all the way from Taylor Michigan came up and spent the entire afternoon with us; taking hay rides, picking pumpkins, getting lost, etc. Thanks again to all of our local business owners who gave donations for our prize raffle. 100% of those proceeds went to the L.A.F. to help people affected by cancer. If you are a lucky prize winner, I'll be calling you asap to congratulate you on your winnings! Thanks to our family, friends, staff, and all of those who volunteered to help out for the fundraiser, and for the season... and hopefully we'll see you again next Mid-August. :)

DeDe has been named our official "Internet Promotions Representative" and puts in 110% in everything she does out here. Thanks DeDe, for getting us through another successful season!!
