Great News! The PEARR Bookclub is up and running again. I'd like to invite you all to a new location to discuss the book, hot topics of the day and enjoy a cup of coffee with old and new friends. Americorps Volunteer member Christi Rice will be heading up the book club and she's hoping to have a great turnout for the upcoming date. We hope to see you there!

CDM Second Annual Golf Tournament to Benefit Women In Distress

The CDM Fort Lauderdale office will be hosting their second annual golf tournament this year to benefit Women In Distress. The tournament will be held at the Palm Aire Country Club on Saturday, October 27th. Palm Aire is a premier full-service golf club featuring five outstanding golf courses.
All the proceeds of the tournament will be donated through PEARR. The tournament will be limited to 100 golfers on a first come, first served basis and the registration deadline is October 13, 2007. The sponsorship deadline is October 6th .

PEARR at Pisa!

You are invited to our fall social event 6-8 p.m. Sept. 28 at Cafe Pisa, 1 E. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale.

Cafe Pisa is a wonderful, atmospheric Italian Restaurant/Bar conveniently located downtown where we can get together after work and get the weekend off to a great start! Jeff, the owner of Cafe Pisa is opening his location to PEARR, so please support your local business owners who are willing to support Women In Distress!

The Cafe is located on the first floor of the Wachovia building on the northeast corner of Broward Blvd. and N. Andrews Avenue. Drive north on North Andrews Ave., take a right on NE 1st Ave. Directly on the right hand side you will see the stairs going up to the Wachovia Building and Cafe Pisa is located near the water fountain on the first floor. There is free parking in the parking garage on NE 1st street any time after 6:00pm...so no concerns on where to find parking!We would LOVE to see you, so please come out to visit with old friends and make some new ones! All proceeds from ticket costs will go to benefit PEARR/Women In Distress. It's time for our first annual PEARR Summer Bash! PEARR has now been supporting Women In Distress in our community for one year. Please join us as we thank you for your support and celebrate our first anniversary with a fun evening of live music, raffles, food and libations at the Pompano Citi Centre, located at 1901 N. Federal Hwy in Pompano Beach (directions/map). We will be on the first floor stage on the east side (just find the Panera Bread store and follow the music by RetroActive and Steve Minotti!)

Our organization currently has over 75 members supporting WID, so this event will be a perfect time to renew your membership, network with other professionals, hear our plans for the upcoming year and suggest new ideas. To RSVP you can register here. We look forward to celebrating with you!

P.S. Since June is Cell Phone Donation Drive month, please bring any unwanted cell phones to this event. These phones are lifelines for those in abusive situations by allowing those in need to dial 911 and get help. Its a wonderful way to recycle too!

Live Boldly : An Art Event and Silent Auction

You are invited to attend Live Boldly, a colorful and enjoyable evening of art and entertainment benefitting Women In Distress, at ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. More than 30 local artists and photographers have donated works for this special evening, which will offer plenty of opportunities for you to acquire unique gifts for loved ones - just in time for the holidays! Among the activities planned are: Silent art auction featuring original works of art and photographs; Music by Kawan DeBose; A raffle for a three-day, two-night stay at Palm Beach Shores Resort; and a domestic violence educational presentation. Proceeds from the art event and silent auction will go to Women In Distress of Broward County, Inc., in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets are $20 at the door, $15 for PEARR members, and include two glasses of wine.

Calling All Artists !
In conjunction with Live Boldly, we are looking for local artists who would like to donate artwork (paintings, photography, sculpture, crafts, etc) for a silent auction that evening. All profits will be donated to Women In Distress of Broward County. 8th Annual WID 5k SAFE Run/Walk

This Women In Distress event provides a fun opportunity to make a significant difference in our community. Last year was a great success and we had more than 750 participants- and we hope to make this year even better! Every donation is greatly appreciated and helps make our community a safer place for everyone. Each $100 raised can fund 2 hours of group counseling. $1000 can provide 18 days of safety, counseling, food and clothing to battered women and their children in our shelters. Support our 5K SAFE Walk-Run and join the PEARR team on October 7th and take a step to end domestic violence. Race begins @ 7:30 am and will be located at Markham Park in Sunrise, FL. Any donation you can make toward this worthy cause is greatly appreciated.
