Its always amazing how the referral network works. Nina McLemore and Donald I Baker attorney & Counselor for Baker & Miller visited the inn over the 4th of July weekend. They asked a friend, realtor Nancy Shulman of owner of Bloomberg Realty where to stay. Nancy referred them to us and they were thrilled.
Nina McLemore owns designs and operates her own clothing and accessories line from NYC. Her line of clothing is designed by women with fashion and business expertise, for smart confident women on the go. They are designed using beautiful and distinctive European fabrics in natural fibers, or Asian silks. She is known for her stunning jackets which I immediately spotted as being unique and very recongizable. Nina started her business 6 years ago and prides herself that her clothing is made in the USA. Prior to her own venture Nina was the creator of Liz Claiborne Accessories which she ran for 15 years.
Donald I Baker, lives and works in Washington DC. He is the former assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice and former professor of Law at Cornell. Donalds specialty is in antitrust issues.
Nina & Don met through a law school professor in 2001. Both Nina & Don expressed the wish that they met sooner in life and wished they had stumbled upon the Inn at Stockbridge sooner as well. We look forward to welcoming back Nina & Don and we are thrilled that we had the pleasure of meeting two wonderful people.

The Inn at Stockbridgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07273585841656626534InnatStockbridge@gmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6800029871582866669.post-65093877884846449842009-07-06T16:30:00.003-04:002009-07-06T16:52:03.680-04:00Best Staff in the Berkshires at The Inn at Stockbridge

Alice & Len Schiller, owner innkeepers of the Inn at Stockbridge want to acknowledge their staff as the "Best in the Berkshires".
Pictured from left to right is Xiomara, Edith, Ivon & Lourdes. This was truly a unique wonderful production, different from anything we ever saw. The Einstein Project by Paul D'Andrea & Jon Kleinand directed by Eric Hill is a fascinating look at one of the Titans of the 20th century: Albert Einstein. This truly unique theatrical experience seeks to humanize and contextualize a man that we all think we know. Through conversations with his son Edmond and his colleagues, we are truly able to visualize the man who, however reluctantly, ushered in the Atomic Age.
The Inn at Stockbridge is less then a mile from the BTF and as owner innkeepers and Berkshire residents we thrilled with this years program. We already saw the Faith Healer and Broadway by the Year and look forward to the entire season when we will see the Prisoner of Second Ave & Ghosts on the main stage and Candide and Sick in the Unicorn Theatre.
We are thrilled that the Berkshire's has so much to offer the guests at our Inn and they can truly enjoy Culture in the country.

The Inn at Stockbridgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07273585841656626534InnatStockbridge@gmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6800029871582866669.post-58089013836448455612009-06-25T20:05:00.004-04:002009-06-25T20:39:24.917-04:00Breakfast at the Inn at Stockbridge with Special Guests
Alice & Len Schiller, owners of the Inn at Stockbridge, Bed & Breakfast are always pleased when we can welcome special friends of our guests to join us for breakfast at the Inn. We were pleased to welcome Elayne Bernstein & Sol Schwartz the other day. I had the pleasure of meeting Elaine & Sol at Shakespeare & Company in the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre. The theatre is named for Elayne Bernstein who is a trustee of Shakespeare & Co. Elayne and Sol spotted the young man Stephen Pilkington in New York at an Apple Store where he was working. They struck up a conversation and spotted his talent and brought him to Shakespeare & Co. Stephen is an extraordinary actor and is very grateful to Elayne & Sol for this opportunity. Elayne & Sol are a wonderful couple who found each other later in life. Frances Martinson, from our previous blog related how Sol proposed to Elayne at Shakespeare and Co. several years ago.

Frances also related how Elayne moves her car in Manhattan for alternate side of the street parking in order to save money on a garage and thus be able to donate more to Shakespeare & Co. Meeting wonderful people is what Len and I love about owning the Inn at Stockbridge. Who knows who we will have the pleasure of meeting tomorrow. Perhaps You

The Inn at Stockbridgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07273585841656626534InnatStockbridge@gmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6800029871582866669.post-4691525546186033102009-06-22T16:39:00.006-04:002009-06-22T19:39:55.260-04:00The Inn at Stockbridge, Shakespeare & Co and Special Guests
The Inn at Stockbridge Bed & Breakfast in Stockbridge Ma has been very fortunate to have had some wonderful repeat guests over the years. Alice & Len Schiller, owners of the Inn for fifteen years consider many of their guests special friends who they have grown fond of. One of these special ladies is Frances Martinson. Frances & her late dear husband Paul have and continue to be a part of our inn family since we arrived. The Martinsons have been an integral part of Shakespeare & Co since its founding. Frances's late husband Paul was a big supporter of Shakespeare in the Park since the 60's. Martinson Hall in the Public Theatre is named after him. They have been Trustee's of the Public Theatre and have been trustee's of Shakespeare & Co for over 30 years. Frances continues to be a great supporter of Tina Packer and all her efforts to make Shakespeare & Co what it is today.
Frances is also philanthropic in New york City as well. She is a trustee of the Pearl Theatre as well as a trustee of the American Folk Art Museum.
I had the pleasure of seeing two of Shakespeare & Co shows this season . Yesterday I went with Frances to see "Pinter's Mirror", three one act plays by Harold Pinter as well as " the Actor's rehearse the Story of Charlotte Salomon. This tells the mother daughter story, artistic journey and ultimate tragedy of Charlotte Salamon. I would highly recommend both productions.
A visit to the Berkshire's, a stay at The Inn at Stockbridge and a visit to Shakespeare & Co should be on your to do list this summer. After all if Frances supports both the Inn at Stockbridge and Shakespeare & Co it must be the best.

The Inn at Stockbridgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07273585841656626534InnatStockbridge@gmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6800029871582866669.post-40548012193588357572009-06-20T18:35:00.003-04:002009-06-20T18:54:42.496-04:00Visit the Cultural Berkshires and stay at The Inn at stockbridgeCulture in the Country is in full swing for the 2009 summer season. Stay at the Inn at Stockbridge and enjoy it all. Alice & Len Schiller, owners of the Inn had the pleasure of attending two shows at the <href="http://berkshiretheatre.org">Berkshire Theatre Festival in Stockbridge already.
Faith Healer by Brian Fried and directed by Eric Hill. It was described by The New York Times as" Intricate and self contradicting, the narrative has the addictive pull of a detective yarn" It is the story of Francis Hardy as he travels across the British Isles performing a series of almost vaudevillian faith healings along with his wife Grace and loyal manager Teddy. This is playing until July 4.
We also saw Broadway by the Year, created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel produced in special arrangement with the Town Hall in New York City. Enjoy this cabaret style show performed by an all star cast as they sing the best songs from Broadway Shows of the 1930's and 1964. This will be performed until June 27.
We are anxious to see their other productions as well. The Einstein Project, Prisoner of Second Ave, Ghosts, Candide, Sick and Red Remembers.
We will make sure to keep you informed.

The Inn at Stockbridgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07273585841656626534InnatStockbridge@gmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6800029871582866669.post-37751014274034279602009-05-28T12:16:00.005-04:002009-05-28T16:36:27.391-04:00Visit American Icons while staying at the Inn at Stockbridge

Visit the Inn at Stockbridge near Lenox MA and Hancock MA and enjoy Four American Icons with an American Icons Pass.

Visit the Norman Rockwell Museum of Stockbridge MA, The Mount Estate & Gardens of Lenox Ma, Chesterwood, National Trust for Historic Preservation of Stockbridge MA and The Hancock Shaker Village, City of Peace, in Hancock MA. Enido has been a great admirer of Norman Rockwell for many years. Enido started his career as an illustrator in in his native Brazil. Enido has had a Norman Rockwell book published in 1971 that he has admired over the years and has always wanted to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum. As a gift to her father, Enido's daughter Vanessa surprised her father with a birthday gift to the Inn. The family visited the museum and it lived up to all their expectations. Over the years we have come to know many of the guests that have stepped through our doors. This is what we enjoy most about innkeeping.

Kim & Doug Feest first came to the Inn as a young married couple in 1997. Over the years they have returned many times. Doug remembers walking through the barn when it was under construction with Len. He really admires the finished product. Over the years Kim and Doug have stayed in many rooms and are amazed how we upkeep and maintain the property. Doug & Kim now have a 7 year old daughter Isabella.

I had the pleasure of chatting with Doug & Kim over breakfast. We talked about losses, divorces of friends and family, moving and health issues. It was as if we were old friends catching up. They told me how a night at the Inn renews and refreshes them to face lifes challenges.

Doug works for Clydel as a production tool maker and Kim is employed at the Hartford group as a team lead.

Kim and Doug hope to return to the Inn when they need a break in the near future and I will enjoy catching up with old friends.

The Inn at Stockbridgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07273585841656626534InnatStockbridge@gmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6800029871582866669.post-77657176726442658222009-02-16T16:57:00.004-05:002009-02-16T23:29:20.777-05:00Valentines Day at The Inn at Stockbridge

Rahul & Lulu joined The Inn at Stockbridge and the Berkshire Elegant Country Inns on a carriage ride for Valentines day. Rahul is an attorney in Washington DC and travelled by train to spend the weekend with his girlfriend Lulu who lives in NYC. Rahul & Lulu met in Law school at the University of Michigan in 2005. He remembers working the morning of 9/11 in 2001 and saw the second plane hit the second tower of the World Trade Center. One of his most rewarding jobs was working as a youth officer for a Catholic High School making sure the kids at school were safe from nearby gang related activities.

Carey currently works at Bath & Body Works in Plainview, NY. A few years ago when Jane Pauley had her own T.V. show, Carey was one of the featured guests to have a make-over and continues her stylish look to this day! One of Carey's favorite BBW products is the Chapped Hand Cleaner by C.O. Bigelow, which are featured products at all Bath & Body Works locations. C.O. Bigelow is America's oldest apothecary and was founded in 1838. The oldest location is nestled in the heart of New York's Greenwich Village. Famous and historical individuals like Eleanor Roosevelt, Mark Twain and Thomas Edison have all entered the doors of this prominent apothecary store for their personal care needs.
Joe and Carey's handsome 17 year old son, Joe, Jr., is a senior at Massapequa High School and is the president of the Key Club. He volunteers with his mom at their church and is looking to go to college for chemical or civil engineering.

Joe and Carey found out about the Inn at Stockbridge by visiting the Butternut Ski Resort website and were attracted to our location, conveniently located right off Route 7. We're so happy they made the Inn at Stockbridge their family weekend getaway and look forward to welcoming them back!

The Inn at Stockbridgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07273585841656626534InnatStockbridge@gmail.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6800029871582866669.post-77942111679857061942009-01-29T12:01:00.006-05:002009-02-16T18:17:47.091-05:00Meet Sandra Resident Manager at The Inn at Stockbridge

Sandra MacDonald is the resident manager here at the Inn at Stockbridge. Originally from Seattle, by the time she was 21, she was co-managing a 52 unit renovated high-rise residential/commercial apartment building with a 4 star Italian restaurant, and was the office manager for a successful renovation company in downtown Seattle.

After working a number of years in the real estate business, owning and managing several homes and rental properties, she enjoys creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for others to feel at ease and have the pleasure of relaxing. She thoroughly enjoys getting to know people and finding out about their life stories.

In growing up with her mom in the restaurant business for over 40 years, through a bit of osmosis and a little elbow grease, Sandra has become pretty creative in the kitchen as well and now specializes in gourmet vegetarian cuisine. She makes a scrumptious vanilla-orange liquor French toast and brandied fruit compote that will undoubtedly put a smile on your face and make you feel glad you didn't miss breakfast!

Aside from creating beautiful environments, whipping up something special in the kitchen and hosting guests, Sandra enjoys being involved in the Berkshire community and working with a group called Volunteers for Change. She enjoys the outdoors and loves to go biking, hiking, swimming and tending gardens. She enjoys reading an Edgar Allen Poe poem by a crackling fire in the fall, or a romantic and spiritual poem by Rumi any time of the year.

Some of her favorite childhood memories are picnicking and hiking at Mt. Rainier with family and friends, camping in and around the Puget Sound and Eastern Washington areas, and attending the Scottish Highland games to compete in the Scottish Highland Dance competitions. Her studies include interior design, business, Holacracy, Feng Shui, and holistic therapies.

The Inn at Stockbridgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07273585841656626534InnatStockbridge@gmail.com142.3059875 -73.3354993tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6800029871582866669.post-34049594450331887062009-01-26T16:13:00.005-05:002009-02-16T18:20:08.015-05:00Honeymoon, New Zealand, Hawaii and the Inn at Stockbridge

Dale & Deanna Summerville took a much needed belated honeymoon at the Inn at Stockbridge. Both Jeremy and Victoria had a great fondness for the Berkshires that started in 1993 when Jeremy first attended camp there. Jeremy continued going to the camp that he loved so much and became a counselor there in 1996. It was by divine intervention that Victoria became a counselor there in 1998.

Victoria came from Lincolnshire England to be a counselor at Camp Lenox at the recommendation of a friend who was a counselor the previous year. Jeremy and Victoria met at camp the first year. They stayed in touch throughout the year when Victoria went back to England for her studies. Both Jeremy and Victoria returned to camp the next two summers and continued their studies during the year, Victoria at Liverpool

University and Jeremy at the University of Pennsylvania.

After college Victoria moved to Washington DC where she was a nanny and then moved to Philedelphia to be with Jeremy. The couple went back to London so Victoria could attend graduate school. Jeremy and Victoria then returned to the states and Jeremy attended Law School at Seton Hall University and Victoria attended NYU for education.

Jeremy and Victoria finally tied the knot on January 8, 2005. While a camper at Camp Lenox he frequently went to Joes diner and always ordered the same sandwich, which Joe named a JT special. The JT special is chicken cutlet, cheddar cheese, hot peppers, lettuce and russian dressing on a hard roll.

Alice & Len Schiller are thrilled that Jeremy and Victoria chose the Inn at Stockbridge to celebrate their babymoon and anniversary.
