Alice Schiller, owner of the Inn at Stockbridge, is about to embark on a new adventure. Beginning tomorrow Alice will begin her class to train as a realtor. Real Estate has always fascinated me say Alice. This new venture ties in nicely with being an innkeeper. Many guests are always looking to buy a second home in the Berkshires. I can now assist them in this process.
Alice & Len Schiller also purchased land in Lee which they would now like to sell.

Holidays at the Inn at Stockbridge

The Inn is decorated in all its glory for the holiday season.
Last weekend The Inn at Stockbridge was on the house tour during the Christmas in Stockbridge Weekend. We estimate that perhaps 300 people strolled the Inn on Saturday December 1, 2007. Reviews from the participants were fabulous.

Tanglewood had a press conference on November 30 to get a jump on the upcomming season. It was announced that James Taylor would appear on July 3 & 4. The season looks like its going to be the best yet. You could visit our web site for a preview.

Alice & Len Schiller, owners of the Inn spent Thanksgiving at their daughters house in New Jersey. Its a great feeling to pass the torch to the next generation.
Alice & Len are going to be tourists in their hometown NYC next week. The Innkeepers love Stockbridge but its great to visit the big apple during the holidays.

The Post Select Bed & Breakfast getaway weekend was held at the Inn at Stockbridge on October 26, 27 & 28.

There was a wine and cheese pairing hosted by Gourmet Magazine and Matthew Rubiner from Rubiner's Cheesemongers.
The guests were also given a guided tour and visited Chesterwood.

This was a weekend to remember.

Marie is Annette Perilli's mom. Annette is the assistant innkeeper at the Inn.
Marie has a long history with the Inn. She worked for Lee and Don over 20 years ago. Annette frequently visited her mother at work. Things have truly come full circle.

Words can not express the color marching up the hillsides, the morning cold snap that gives way to warm afternoon sun; the startling sight of leaves blowing across the path, putting a bounce in our step. I hope that visitors to the Inn at Stockbridge will simply sit on our porch and watch these exquisite days unfold. If you live outside of New England dream about the New England autumn. It is a sight to behold.

Yesterday was just an exquisite day. I had the pleasure of being with my hiking group as we explores Bartholomew's Cobble. The view was breathtaking.

One can only have a limited amount of pleasure. Today I had oral surgery to correct an old route canal. Real life often gets in the way of the beauty of the Berkshires.

Beautification of the Inn is an ongoing process. Len & I are always on a quest to improve the guest experience. Tomorrow we are replacing the carpet in South Corner. A beautiful gold color was chosen to enhance the improvements that we did last year.

The front of the Inn is decorated for the season. Fall is my favorite so I go all out,corn stalks, hay bales, pumpkins, mums, kale & cabbage etc. I love to create an environment for my guests to enjoy.

Please welcome Marie Tremblay back to the Inn at Stockbridge. Marie is Annettes mom.
She worked at the Inn many years ago for Lee & Don. She is now our new resident innkeeper. We look forward to her cheery disposition to enhance our existing staff.

Alice's Reflections on the Summer

Today is the end of our 13th summer as innkeepers at the Inn at Stockbridge. This has been a wonderful summer , however I am glad it is over. We need a rest. Len has been wonderful, he is totally devoted to the Inn. he spends every waking moment either at the inn or thinking about it. He really needs a rest. We are off to Cape Cod tomorrow for a three day vacation, a busmans holiday. Rest and relaxation for the innkeepers.
One of our guests, who are frequent guests visited us again this weekend. Kent McKamy just returned from a three month trip around the United States and out west towards Washington State. He shared his trip and photos in his blog

It is wonderful to have guests like Linda & Kent to share life events.
We have our annual end of the summer picnic today in otis. it will be great to spend the day with our local friends and unwind while feasting our eyes on the Otis Resovoir.
The Berkshires are beautiful and perhaps after Labor day weekend it is the most beautiful as the evenings get cooler to prepare for the fall and the spectacular changing of the leaves

End of Summer Wrap -Up

I can't believe its already Labor Day Weekend. What a summer its been. From a business standpoint its been our best ever. The guests have been great. Its always wonderful to see our repeat guests. We also enjoy seeing new guests who we hope will soon become repeat guests. Our staff is wonderful, Annette continues to be our eyes and ears and our right hand. She always is on top of everything anticipating.
Ivon, Edith, Luz, Mercy & Javier have been great. It is because of them that the inn continues to look great.

Len, our daughter Felicia, Joy and our good friends Elaine & Stan went with us to see James Taylor at Tanglewood last weekend. He does a great show and always pleases his audience.

The physical plant of the inn continues to present its challenges. Imagine on a summer weekend no water. The pump on the well was hit by lightening. We had water by the end of the day. Imagine flushing toilets with water from the pool. it was camp Inn at Stockbridge for one day. The guests were great and thought it an adventure.

On a sad note I lost my mother Shirley Yanofski. She was ill for a while it was both a blessing and a loss. I can no longer visit her and hold her hand. May she rest in peace.

Wonderful Summer In the Berkshires

It is great to be in the Berkshires and owner of the Inn at Stockbridge Bed & Breakfast. Our guests have been wonderful. It is great to see our long term guests who are now friends. The weather has been wonderful, Tanglewood has been the best ever. Last night was Tanglewood on Parade. Imagine James Levine, Keith Lockhart, John Williams, the 1812 overture and fireworks all in one night on the great lawn. That was last night another great evening.
On Tuesday I had the pleasure of going with my hiking group to the Becket Quarry for a wonderful hike. The quarry was once in operation and it is now a park. It was a wonderful time for all. My Berkshire friends are great.
I continue to play Mah Jong with my regular group as well. Yesterday I lost.
Its great to be able to operate the Inn and enjoy the Berkshires at the same time.
Life is wonderful.

Shakespeare & Company

Tina Packer playing Cleopatra, I was curious. I know Tina lost weight but could she pull it off. Like everything else Tina does she did it with finesse.
Tina created this wonderful venue. I remember when she had her company at the Mount. Shakespeare was out of this venue and then bought the National music Center on Kembell St. It was a great endeavor, but her supporters had faith. One of our long time dear guest Frances Martinson and her late husband Paul were founders. We followed the progress and are now thrilled with the results.
Yes Tina was a great Cleopatra. she can do anything she sets her mind to.

The Inn at Stockbridge Bed & Breakfast is extremely busy with all our wonderful guests.. We are receiving wonderful feedback from all the cultural venues, the weather is great. What more can one ask for. Culture in the Country.

Tanglewood Business Friends

Yesterday Tanglewood business friends welcomed Len & I to Serenack, to thank us for being business friends. We were treated to a wonderful concert by the Tanglewood Music Center. Hayden was played under the tent with the beautiful views of Stockbridge Bowl. It was exquisite, best views of anywhere in the world. We were treated to cocktails and a light dinner in this magnificent setting.
It is absolutely delightful for the Inn at Stockbridge to be part of the business community and enjoy all the Berkshires have to offer.
On Thursday we will be privileged to attend a performance of Shakespeare & Company who will perform Anthony & Cleopatra. I can't wait to see Tina Packer as Cleopatra.

Tanglewood Concerts

I went to the Tanglewood concerts on both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Sell out crowds both days. Yo Yo Ma was incredible. I sat on the lawn under the stars on Saturday night sipping my glass of wine and saw the entire concert on the screens. It was a night to remember. You should have been there. Perhaps next year we will meet on the lawn.
The concert on Sunday afternoon was equally good featuring a new composer and a debut from a young violinist
