Not much to say, Vimeo exec's must be complete and utter morons. Banning game videos in general is a good move, because even I hated the several hour waits for videos to process. But ALL gaming videos? I don't agree with that. I can understand getting rid of the videos that are just 1 kill in CoD4, or a song in Guitar Hero, there is no creative process in that. The deal with my videos however is they are all produced through a creative thinking process. Sure the editing is nothing to write home about, but it is sufficient for its use. The fact that Vimeo is making me take down my own creative content, albeit made from the content of mainly Bungie and Microsoft (legally however) angers me.

At LEAST make a subscription service where I can pay a small annual fee to be able to upload videos of my choice. I'm sure others would use it, and with the money made maybe they can get some more servers to shorten processing times completely. Until a day where that happens, I have one thing to say to Vimeo, and the entire community that supports their latest moves.

Fuck you.

This week in gaming is headlined by a couple pretty big stories.

First off, Too Human, the long awaited shooter for the 360 has gone gold. Aka the game is finished and is ready to be manufactured and shipped.

Xbox Live may be moving to free sometime soon. This comes after Microsoft announced that Games For Windows - Live would become free for cross platform games. If this were to happen it would be a clearcut choice over the PlayStation Network (not that it already isn't).

Bungie announced in their weekly update that they are revising the Halo 3 ranking system. A detailed explanation is available on their weekly update, but basically it gets rid of the "number levels" in ranked playlists and replaces it with an insignia similar to your military rank. You will get a military rank in each playlist by winning games (aka losing doesnt affect ranks anymore) that will affect your Global Rank (your current military rank based on highest level and EXP).

Boring week in the world of gaming, The Wii lead all consoles for June in sales with 666.7k units sold, followed by PS3 with 404.5k, and the 360 with 219.8k units sold.

Bungie confirms that they are working on 3 new games, "some familiar, some not". They have no plans to announce any of them anytime soon. They do however plan to inform us on the Halo 3 Online Experience changes at PAX.

Left 4 Dead has amazing cover art. Enough said.

Portal: Still Alive will be released on July 30 only on XBLA.

and finally, 7G Humpdays will return next Wednesday, July 30th.

"The ongoing saga of Bungie's no-show at this year's E3 has been given another little twist, with Microsoft's Don Mattrick confirming that the now independent developer is indeed hard at work on another instalment in the Halo series.

Speaking to MTV Multiplayer, the head of Xbox business said that the amount of content in Microsoft's conference on Monday squeezed out any news on the extension of the Halo series, and said Bungie is actively working on a new game that is neither Halo Wars nor the awaited Peter Jackson project.

The news comes off the back of heightening speculation about Bungie's presence – or lack thereof – at this year's event, which climaxed in an open letter placed on the developer's website apologising for the no-show. Meanwhile, the countdown to its heavily touted announcement - which was expected to happen at 7:07am PST on July 16 - continues, though in light of the recent news many expect the deadline to pass without fanfare, or news of a fresh Halo title."

"Here’s something to add to all the E3 drama this week about Bungie Studios‘ canceled/postponed/hyped debut of a new game…

In an interview shot for MTV News on Tuesday, Microsoft’s head of Xbox business Don Mattrick, confirmed to me that Bungie is indeed working on a new “Halo” game of some sort for Microsoft.

I had been asking Mattrick about the lack of “Halo” news at E3. He said that Microsoft’s Monday press conference was already loaded with content and so any announcements for that series weren’t needed to get gamers excited.

I pushed him on the lack of presence for the series and asked him if we should be worried about the no-show of Ensemble Studio’s real-time-strategy game “Halo Wars.” Not only did Mattrick say not to worry and that announcements would be coming, he also said that Microsoft is working with Bungie on a “Halo” game.

I asked for clarification, wondering if Mattrick meant Bungie’s project was “Halo Wars” or the long-announced Peter Jackson “Halo” project. Neither, Mattrick said. The Bungie game is something else.

Bungie announcement postponed

Made official today by Howard Ryan, President, Bungie LLC. The announcement for Bungie's next internal project, originally scheduled for tomorrow at E3, has been postponed indefinitely. It was also first rumoured that the announcement was bumped out of the Microsoft press conference so it were to not overshadow the reveal that Final Fantasy XIII was coming to the 360.

This news has the Bungie.net and neoGAF community in chaos (B.Net more-so). The news comes after several months of viral marketing by Bungie such as the "SuperIntendent" and several hints at a new game announcement for E3 in the 7/7/08 Bungie podcast.

[UPDATE]
There is some suspicion that the "letter" from Howard Ryan (pictured below) is not true and that Bungie plans to have a surprise announcement anyways. This argument is supported with the fact that the letter was posted at 7:00pm PST, and with EXACTLY 12 hours remaining on the clock.

Several Bungie staff have set the record straight with the community. Staff such as Luke, Marty, "Stosh", "Acronos", and "Shishka" have all said that this is not fake, and it disappoints them as much as any of us. They all seemed very serious about it and with straight up answers.

E3 2008 is upon us! At 10:30am PST TODAY the show starts and various game developers and publishers showcase their stuff, with the "Big 3" being Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft. This year's Expo is back at the LACC but it is not the show of old.

Things to look out for from/concerning Microsoft over the next couple days:

Bungie's next project(s). This has been speculated about for months now. Some say it is "Halo 4", a new "Marathon" game, a game relating to the recent "SuperIntendent" posts on Bungie.net, and the long lost IP "Phoenix" [NO INFO YET]
The discontinuation and price drop of the 360 Pro bundle and the announcement of a new 60GB model. [CONFIRMED]
The rumoured XBOX 360 dashboard makeover [CONFIRMED]
A motion sensitive controller for the 360 [NO NEWS]
More information on highly anticipated games such as Rock Band 2, Resident Evil 5, UTIII, Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Left 4 Dead, and Mirror's Edge.
Bungie's "huge" changes for Halo 3's "online experience". [NO INFO YET]

Microsofts press conference begins at 10:30am PST and will be viewable live through G4 or Gamespot.

Halo 3: Canadian loonie frozen under Snowbound

A little back story: 2002. Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.
A couple Canadians who were helping make the ice for the Ice Hockey event put a loonie an inch under the ice at center ice to bring Team Canada good luck. Canada went on to win the Gold on that very ice surface.

Someone who works at Bungie was obviously watching the games very devotedly.

There are clearly some proud Canadians working at Bungie. Good on you, guys!

TONS of shit happening on screen.
Not a single hiccup, 60fps where Gears 1 framerate would tank with more than 6 locust attacking.
Same beautiful native 720p resolution Gears has always been.
2xAnti-Aliasing makes jaggies a thing of the past.
Gears 1 and 2 releasing to 360 fans before Sony and Guerilla can get Killzone 2 out the door, being made Gears 2's bitch graphically.

All this in the debut 2 minute clip of a minuscule part of this huge game.
