Its been almost a month and im sure it has seemed that i vanished. In fact i have been out exploring some new areas of NYC that i thought would be most enjoyable. With the summer coming and school being out there is plenty to do. But the first point that must be made is that sadly Bank on Saturday nights has been closed. It was a good run and there was never a shortage of friends to meet, drink and party with. We hope that Larry T will again grace us with another of his parties. But when one party dies another must also be opened or re-invented and that is what im going to talk about now.

I have wrote about this club before and talked about its make-over but some news came to me that will prolly be the best news this club can over. If you live in NYC you have probably heard of Heaven (now renamed Rush) and through the years many stories have come from that club and specially their Saturday college gay night. Well the biggest thing that has kept people away is gone. Last weekend the new management of Rush decided that due to declining attendance Tony G & GayCollegeParty.com will no longer be working there and conducting the Saturday night party! This may come as good news to some and i hope that many will come back to this club and discover its makeover. While one promoter is gone DJ Steve Sidewalk, Charles Winters, GaySocialites & Alixandria will continue to host and bring flair to Rush on Saturdays!

Jeremy Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12509953394762303351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745028271565925697.post-86208193368242379352007-04-18T13:00:00.000-07:002007-04-18T11:57:07.358-07:00Club of the Week (4-18-07)This weeks club is somewhat of a staple in the Chelsea scene. Known for its live performance from Britney Spears and its onstage showers, Splash Bar NYC is the place many people, both native NYers and travelers, always seem to know about.
Splash has a very diverse weekly lineup that will appeal to many different groups. This gay owned and operated bar mixes big muscle men bartenders with drag queens, college twinks and sometimes the occasional porn star. With such a lineup its not strange that during a night you will see many different people that you might not see at your usual club.
- Starting the week off on Monday, Splash has its "Musical Mondays" where you can come and see and hear songs from some of your favorite musicals and broadway hits.
- Tuesday Splash presents "Ocean" with a mix of hip-hop, reggaetone and house music as well as a few different celebs you just might run into. Using both floors and covering all the beats you could ever imagine its a night to just let loose and you never know what might happen!
- Wednesday "Moulin Rouge" with Bianca Del Rio takes over with all kinds of drag acts and a "Drag Attack" contest. If you want to see some good performances or get a laugh out of the crass and spectacular Bianca then you'll see.
- Thursday turns into an all out frat boi college party with "Campus Thursdays" presented by Boiparty & Alan Picus. Alan brings his band of sexy and scandalous go-go bois to Splash bars and even brings them into the showers for a steamy end to a def steamy night of dancing and music.
- Friday Mark Nelson brings you "Full Frontal Friday". With celebrity DJ's and a full array of bois from all over its one way to start your weekend. With a special 2-4-1 Happy Hour starting at 4pm you should have no trouble finding what your looking for (or atleast give your weekend a little kick).
- Saturday becomes a massive playground for MEN as Aaron Tanner makes Splash into a plaground for men who just wanna be with men. With a variety of shows and hardcord beats from many DJs from around the country, Saturday is the day where Splash lets loose and lets men be men!
- Sunday Splash brings you the perfect way to unwind after the weekend. With DJ Lady Bunndy bringing you "Disco Tea", playing all your disco favorites from 4-9, and Trai La' Trash hosting bringo at 5, its def a good way to wind down to a 9pm showing of Desperate Housewives before you prepare for another week of work.

Splash is located at 50 West 17th Street (between 5th & 6th Avenues) in NYC's Chelsea district and is 21+

Jeremy Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12509953394762303351noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745028271565925697.post-3870814605298468442007-04-15T15:30:00.000-07:002007-04-15T12:31:43.640-07:00HK Lounge Grand OpeningLast Friday i had the joy of attending the Grand Opening of HK Lounge. I was more than impressed by this club when i got there. You walk into this space through a pair of frosted glass doors that lead you into a small patio type room for smoking with a coi pond to one side. Passing through that patio you step into the main room with comfortable seating on one side, an elevated DJ booth and well stocked bar. Ascending glass and marble stairs you walk into a more intimate seating area that also doubles as a roof deck. On cold days HK can close its roof to allow for a warm, relaxed seating area. But on a nice warm summer day the roof retracts making a very nice roof deck. With all the glass, mirrors & white stone, HK is def a nice place to go and relax. Aside from the remarkable atmosphere HK also has a long list of liquor at very reasonable prices.

So next week make a change from your usual hangouts and check out HK Lounge. HK is located at 405 West 39th Street between 9th & 10th Avenues.

Jeremy Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12509953394762303351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745028271565925697.post-274869273922177842007-04-11T12:15:00.000-07:002007-04-18T06:51:29.916-07:00Club of the Week (4-11-07)This week i decided to take a step back from the so called "main-line" clubs and instead feature a more laid back club/lounge. While most people think that going out requires big clubs, loud music and large crowds of people, there are still many who enjoy the small lounges with good music and a calm atmosphere to meet and socialize with friends old and new. It is in this mind set that i have chosen Plumm as this weeks club.
Plumm is located on 14th Street between 7th & 8th Avenues. With a warm environment, good staff and some great DJs we love, Plumm is the perfect place to come and relax any day of the week. The club is a mixed club but if your looking for a more gay time then swing by on a Monday and join Patrick McMullen for his Monday's Hard. Patrick & P.I.N.K Vodka have joined up for a 9pm-10pm open P.I.N.K bar and continue through the night with friends, celebrities and many cute bois you just wont see at a more crowded club.
Plumm's intimacy is what first caught my eye. As you walk in you take in the main floor with woodwork, warm lighting and generous seating to just sink into. As you move around the club you get a chance to really just mix into a crowd of people from many different areas of life.

Plumm is located on 14th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues.

Jeremy Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12509953394762303351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745028271565925697.post-26633597157280523342007-04-08T15:38:00.000-07:002007-04-08T12:39:58.624-07:00Avalon Grand Opening a Hit!For any who ventured out last Saturday night to experience the Grand Opening of Avalon, i'm sure you'll agree with me that even with the long lines and wait it was well worth it!
With the line starting to form at 10pm for an 11pm opening, many stood outside of Avalon waiting to be the first through the door. By 10:30 the line stretched down 20th Street and at one point was well past where Avalon ends. But everyone standing there that i talked to was excited and anxious to get through to the door and have a great night. The security at Avalon and the doorguys, Acid Betty and Derek, did a great job of getting everyone into the club as fast as possible while still maintaining order.
Once you got through the door and the cashiers you were greeted with 3 floors packed with hot bois, great music and friends re-united. DJ Bret Henrichson was spinning his House & Pop Remixes on the main floor while DJ Adam turned out the electronica & techno in the chapel & DJ Seth Gold kept it hopping in the Spiderclub with his pop & hip-hop, there was no place that you couldn't go and find both the music and the bois that you were looking for and not worry about your friends not liking it.

While many thought that this event was just a quick flash on the scene and wouldnt last, this saturday def started to prove them wrong. With lines forming again and many anxious bois waiting to party all night John Blair, Michael Formika Jones & Alan Picus didnt pull any punches and made sure to give all the bois the best night of the week.
DJ Hex Hector thumped the main floor with his house and tribal beats and made sure that noone left his room disappointed. DJ Adam kepted all his freak, geeks & club kids in the chapel in line with his techno and electronica beats that pleased them all. And we cant forget the Spiderclub where DJ Jon Jon Battles partied on all night with the live drummer and all the latest hip-hop/pop music.

So if you havent had a chance to check out the reinvention of this legendary night club you definatley should make it a point to get out and check this club and all its glory and wickedness next week.

Jeremy Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12509953394762303351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745028271565925697.post-41826606160861526122007-04-04T15:38:00.000-07:002007-04-18T06:51:29.917-07:00Club of the Week (4-4-07)This weeks club took some thought. So many clubs in NYC that need to be re-discovered. But i settled on Arena. Arena (formerly Show) has undergone some make-overs since Show closed Jan 1st. With a New York's largest programmable LED light system its turns this club into any type of party u want. Arena boasts a big dance floor as well as many seating areas that start at the floor and tier up. with places for an intimate group of friends to gather to an open seating area to meet new friends and mingle with old. While this club is big in size the attitude of the staff reminds you of a small local bar where you go on a random night of the week.

So check out Arena, located at 135 West 41st Street (between 6th & Broadway). Then let me kno what you thought. (Thursdays the infamous Susanne Bartsch throws one of her extranvagent parties with many gay attendees)

Jeremy Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12509953394762303351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745028271565925697.post-91985771373970240872007-03-28T12:40:00.000-07:002007-04-18T06:51:29.934-07:00Club of the Week (3-28-07)With sooo many gay clubs in NYC its hard for many people to decide where to go. As a result we tend to stick to the 3 or 4 that are extremely familiar and when we do vernture to new ones its only from a good recommendation from someone we know. The problem with this is that many times when we try a new place and have a bad experience we don't want to return there and can avoid that club for years sometime. Each week check back here to find a new club (sometimes they are old) that i will hopefully either open your eyes to or maybe fix that bad experience you may have had and help you explore suxh diversity that NYC has soooo much of to offer.

This weeks club is Rush, formerly Heaven. Now im sure there are many people out there that have all kinds of stories they can tell about the club, from bad promoters to poor DJ's or bad drinks. No matter how long ago it was its about time to check this place out again. After a major overhaul in promotion, ownership & management this club has finally gotten the face lift it needed.
If you remember the first floor you'll remember how small it felt with the long dj booth along the wall and the stage with bars in front and all those aweful mirrors everywhere. Now as you step into the new entrance of the club you'll find new paint everywhere, a new floor and more space than you ever thought you would find in this club. As the new owners came in the first thing to go was that long dj booth and in their genius they ripped that out and moved it closer to the back wall to open up much more dance space and made a bit of a larger stage so that everything is right there. Their next step was to replace the lighting and sound that needed a boost into this century. Replacing the old turn tables with new digital mp3 players and new subs under the stage has made the sound better than ever. The lights came down next and new strobes, spots & colors went up to give the new floor new life, specially with the addition of a new fog machine that just makes the lights dance across the floor.
Once you've taken in the first floor you might wanna just move upstairs to the second floor which has also been totally renovated. As you walk up the stairs the first thing you will notice is that you dont see your reflection everywhere you turn. I think those were prolly the first things to go and now with that alone the second floor has opened up and you don't feel like you're in a fun house when you're on the dance floor. New seating against the wall also adds to this new dance floor as well as the actual floor which has been put back to the original wood that was there so long ago.
All those renovations together with the newly painted and changed front have made this a new club that everyone should check out. The management has changed a few of the promoters and those left are ready to turn this club back into a hot spot that everyone wants to come to

Rush
579 6th Avenue
between 16th & 17th Streets
Thursdays - Rush Thursdays 18+ (college aged crowd)
Friday - Lesbian Nite
Saturday - 18+ Boiparty.com college party

Jeremy Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12509953394762303351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745028271565925697.post-356169133981960662007-03-27T11:54:00.000-07:002007-03-28T10:44:54.134-07:00Wednesday Nights in NYCWednesday....not quite the weekend but atleast you've made it through half the week and by now im sure you could use a nice little pick-me-up to get you through whats left! So why not check out a new place with some familiar faces, sit back, releax and enjoy a drink with friends.

Thats exactly what you'll find at Splash as they present Moulin Rouge with the incredible hostess Bianca del Rio. Come early and enjoy a drag competition between a few queens all fighting over $100. You'll see Bianca test and challange the audience (as well at totally berate them) all night. After the drag competition stick around to check out some bigger queens perform for your through-out the night. Splash is located on 17th Street between 5th & 6th Avenues and is 21+

If drags not your thing then you can always check out Michael Formika Jones' freeks and geeks over at Ultra. Press Play, hosted by Acid Betty & The House of Acid, gives you all the off the wall outfits you could ever want all rolled into the loungey atmosphere of Ultra. With sooo many of these parties starting then failing, there are only but a few names and places that you should always remember when your looking for some place to venture out on a Thursday Night.

First place is Splash (17th Street between 5th & 6th Avenues), whose muscle boi dancers and big beefy bartenders get toned down for a night of college aged debauchery with Campus Thursdays taking over. This party, originally started as an 18+ college party under the skillfull promotion of Alan Picus & his team of promoters and hosts, has since gone to 21+ (temporarily) as NYC begins a crack down on clubs making it almost impossible for clubs to allow that younger crowd through its doors. None the less that hasnt stop Alan from making the most of it and still having that line of college bois streching down the block most of the night. Along with the college bois who come to drink and dance, you'll find a cute squad of go-gos inside that not only dance to the music played by some of the up & coming pop/hip-hop DJ's but also take to the showers each night to put on a show thats sure to tantalize both young and old.

If college bois and wet go-go's isnt the place for you, or if your not quite 21 yet, then you dont have to worry cause all you have to do is just wander around the block to Rush (6th Avenue between 16th & 17th). This club, formerly Heaven, is under new management with new owners and they have stepped in and finally made the renovations that this club needed so much, definatley making it a club that you should keep on your list of place to check out, no matter your past experiences. A MAJORLY renovated, larger first floor thats been all decked out with new lights and updated sound gives this club an entirely new and refreshing feel. Rush Thursdays is 18+ with a very college attitude, with most parties in the classic A&F attire giving that more "All American" atmosphere.

If your scene doesnt involve the college "twinks" and your more into the fabulousness and flare then the place for you is Arena. Susanne Bartsch & Kenny Kenny present Kino 41, an all out night of glitz & glamour that we have all come to expect from them, with hosts like Amanda Lepore, Lady Fag, Moondust, Furey, Milan & Dirty Martini. Susanne & Kenny Kenny bring their incredible night of freaks, geeks, trannies and club kids right to the middle of Time Square where this club boast the largest programable L.E.D lighting system, giving them the flexability to accommodate anyone. Arena is located on 41st Street between 6th & Broadway and is sure to be a success.

Jeremy Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12509953394762303351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6745028271565925697.post-76355983045792648012007-03-23T16:51:00.000-07:002007-03-28T08:25:58.824-07:00NYC's infamous night-club re-opensOn Saturday March 31, 2007, Avalon will finally re-open its doors to the gay crowd that loves it soooo much.
