Dutch Boy Cadets (1969 - 1976) Reunion

For former members of the Dutch Boy Cadets:

This just officially released, the Dutch Boy Cadets (1969-76) will be having a REUNION on OCTOBER 25th, 2008 at the Kinghts of Columbus on the corner of Manitou Dr. and Bleams Road in KItchener.

This is for former members that marched in the corps from 1969-76 !!!

The cost is $35.00/person (which will be non refundable)

There will be a Meet & Greet from 5pm-7pm, a country style dinner from 7pm-9pm and a social hour from 9pm-1am !!

We are also looking for any old pictures you have that you would like to have in the DVD which we are working on. We would like to know if anyone has any old uniforms that we may use for decorations.

If you would like to come or know of anyone that you think may want to attend, please let Rob Dunnington know A.S.A.P.

There will be only 300 tickets available and they will go fast. There will be NO TICKETS available at the door. All tickets will be sold in ADVANCE !!!

Hello Everyone

This is a general email to everyone who has expressed an interest in receiving information about GAS 2008 Plans are well underway to make this the best drum corps reunion that has ever been held in Ontario. The organizing committee recently published our preliminary Calendar of Events for the weekend. am attaching a copy of that document to this email. It can also be accessed on our website at: http://www.dcatchorus.ca/Calendar_of_Events.pdf.

The opening ceremonies on Friday night will be a wonderful demonstration of pageantry as well as a great party and dance. We can all let loose and get reacquainted. For new folks attending GAS for the first time, you cannot help but meet someone you know and like all drum corps events the talking starts as if time has stood still.

Saturdays Individual and Small Small Group show is almost full. Applications have been overwhelming and are still coming in. Several alumni member corps are performing as well as a wonderful assortment of small groups and ensembles. This event is always a high lite of the GAS weekend. Don't miss it.

Saturday evening is when we all get dressed up for the banquet with great food and performances by all of the choral ensembles from the GAS members. We also use this time to honor those people who have passed over the last year (far too many). Saturday evening ends with what has become a GAS tradition - the jam session - all of the horn players from all of the member units (and anyone else who wants to join in) get together and play. Great sound and great fun.

Hotel Rooms -

We have expanded the number of hotel rooms at the Stage West and Delta. We strongly recommend that you book now. Plans are that we will we will use a shuttle bus to move attendees from the hotels to the event so that no one has to worry about drinking and driving.

Corps Table Identification

If your corps or group reserves a table of ten (10 for the banquet, we will tailor the decorations to uniquely identify your organization. Please let me know by return email of indicate this on your reservation. This is a nice touch for your group.

Tickets

There is one ticket for the weekend. The cost is $85CDN. This ticket entitles you to entry into all of the weekends events and the banquet. Please note there is no pricing for individual events.

Registration

Our preliminary numbers are already over 400 people mostly committed by our American and Canadian GAS partners. The Registration Committee has asked that we encourage everyone to get their registration forms in early so that they can prepare the registration packages, name tags and banquet tickets. You will receive and acknowledgment of your registration and will be advised where to pick up your package. A registration form can be found on our website at : http://www.dcatchorus.ca/GAS%2008%20registration%20form.pdf . I am also attaching a copy with this email.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. If I cannot answer the question, I will refer it to the right committee and ensure that you get an answer.

There are a number of alumni events going on in the Newmarket, Ontario area, however you will need to keep up with the Ambassadors group on Facebook.com to be in the know. I will post things I find out about, however I usually ask if it is OK to post an address before I do this. So you may find it faster to go to the source.

Ambassawest 2007

The Ambassadors western reunion has become an annual affair. We put together a quick one last weekend (August 12). Apologies to other alumni who might have been in the area and were not informed; we had to move fast as the summer was getting away from us. Look for another, hopefully better organized, wetern reunion next summer.

Ontario Drum Corps Reunion, May 2008

I have been contacted by John Jones, president of the Drum Corps Alumni Toronto organization about an Ontario drum corps reunion to happen in the first week of May in 2008. That's not a typo; you are getting more than a year's notice on this one.

I will be one of the contacts for the Ambassadors on this so there will be more information as it is available. Hopefully John will set up a web page just for the event. In any event I will keep posting about it here and on Stone Bugles.

Ambassadors get-together (East), June 2007

Ambassa-West reunion is a success!

The Ambassadors reunion in Vancouver was a great success with 4 alumni and families. This picture is of all the attending alumni and some honourary Ambassadors: (left to right) Andrew Styrmo, Sammy King, Sam King, Kyan Summers, Garry Summers and Kevin Middleton. (click the picture for a larger version) Alumni attending participated in the Ambassadors from 1974 to 1984. Even so there was only one introduction needed. It was an informal affair as we had a picnic at Second Beach in Stanley Park, Vancouver. (Here's a webcam (www.katkam.ca) of the water near Second Beach. Our location is on the extreme right and probably not in view.)

We hope to repeat these get-togethers and add some more alumni who are in the Vancouver area. I will keep making updates here on the Alumni Events page.

It's nice to have something to put up here!

The July 22nd reunion was a success by all accounts and pictures are starting to roll in already. Although I was unable to attend, the Ambassa-cake is definitely my favourite. I may use this picture as the new logo on the alumni website!

I dont care about duplicates I will filter through them so send me anything you think of (even if you dont think you will come yourself). Ambassadors Alumni Family Picnic

After the recent Reunion 2000, many of the participants thought a get-together in the summer, that their whole family could participate in, would be fun.

Here is an excerpt from an e-mail I received from Carole about this event:

...During the Reunion, many people expressed an interest in a family picnic over the summer, so we could all get together again in a relaxed atmosphere with all family members. Several Reunion attendees stated that they would be interested in assisting with upcoming functions. (I wonder if they knew what they are getting into???) Yesterday we all had a short meeting in Newmarket, to discuss plans for the picnic and you will all be receiving information in the mail in the next couple of weeks. Please keep open SUNDAY JULY 30th.....a day of fun and frivolity!!!!! More details to follow. Please let me know if you would like to be on the planning committee...or shall we call it the "social committee" !!!???? We need all the help we can get....really!!!!!
