That special time of year is drawing nearer and nearer. We've reached the long rehearsal days for The Nutcracker at dance. While I love ballet with all my heart I can't help but be incredibly exhausted after a seven and a half hour rehearsal.
My time has been spent dancing, reading, and sleeping along with the occasional e-mail/facebook check. We have an annual bake sale coming up in the next few weeks so I need to figure out what I'm baking and find the time to do it!

This weekend was both eventful and uneventful. There was that rehearsal, and I spent Sunday with a dear dear friend walking through all of the Western shops in Old Town, and then visiting the mall to walk through Urban, Anthropologie, and Lush. My favorite stores, I can't resist. We then got chocolate milk at the bookstore and looked through a book a random facts. One of which was that men named Ben are most likely to get in car accidents whilst Ian's are the safest. lol.

fun. was in town for a concert Saturday night which I rather wanted to go to, but due to few tickets being left for sale, their price, and the fact that I would be going only an hour after a seven and a half hour dance rehearsal we decided against it this time 'round.

Discovered Goodreads.com whilst googling a quote last night. I'm in love! Check it out my screen name is Raindrops.Wash.Us.Clean☂ . You're pretty much able to keep track of every book you've read or someday want to read with this site. You can write reviews, keep track of your favorite quotes and add them to the database if they aren't already there, and follow your favorite authors pages! It's a wonderful wonderful wonderful site!

Eeeek! So normally I'm a very happy person when I finish a book, but I was up to an ungodly hour (not even going to disclose this uber late hour) finishing my audiobook of John Green's Paper Towns. Apart from needing to sleep in this morning it was worth it. I really loved that book. I had started reading it at a bookstore and subsequently got it from my library's online digital loans and was able to put it on my MP3 player.

I wasn't too big a fan of his first book Looking For Alaska. It was good, and had good moments, and a few incredible quotes but all in all after reading it (about a month ago) it hadn't exactly met my expectations... whatever those were. Paper Towns however received an E, for Exceeds Expectations of course *for some reason had to make a Harry Potter reference right then*. I fell in love with the characters and the idea of paper towns both the real ones and the metaphorical ones that one of the main characters explained as:

"Here's what's not beautiful about it: from here, you can't see the rust or the cracked paint or whatever, but you can tell what the place really is. You can see how fake it all is. It's not even hard enough to be made out of plastic. It's a paper town. I mean, look at it, Q: look at all those culs-de-sac, those streets that turn in on themselves, all the houses that were built to fall apart. All those paper people living in their paper houses, burning the future to stay warm. All the paper kids drinking beer some bum bought for them at the paper convenience store. Everyone demented with the mania of owning things. All the things paper-thin and paper-frail. And all the people, too. I've lived here for eighteen years and I have never once in my life come across anyone who cares about anything that matters." (John Green, Paper Towns)

Sometimes that's what I feel Phoenix is, a paper town in that sense. I consider myself quite lucky to have met the few non-paper people I have here because I don't think there are that many. People move here to escape from things, and that makes them paranoid and very very paper.

Anyway, I John Green writes well especially in this book, and I recommend it. I already have a stack of books waiting for me to read them but I think I am going to add Green's An Abundance Of Katherines to the list.

-Halloween-

Halloween was nice. I'm sorry but I neglected my duty to take photos...
My wonderful friend Lauren and her brother came over. This has become something of a tradition. I have not spent a Halloween without Lauren since before I was ten!
I didn't even pick a costume until two seconds before we went out to trick-or-treat, yes I eighteen and Lauren nineteen still trick-or-treat lol. I ended up deciding to be a dancer since I have no shortage of fluffy skirts and old pointe shoes (which were definitely a mistake since my feet were ready to fall off by the time we made our trek home). Lauren was a black cat absolutely adorable! And My brother (Lauren's decided not to trick-or-treat) was Facebook (Did anyone else see that last episode of The Office?). Almond Joy seemed to be the candy of choice for people this year which made Lauren and me very happy :) After we filled our bags we came home and ate some homemade shepherd's pie, played Super Smash Bros Melee, and watched part of Oceans Eleven, all in all I enjoyed the night.

-Couldn't Stop Being A Geek At Heart If Her Life Depended On It-

I really am a geek at heart. I don't think that even when I grow old I'll have lost my appreciation for a good comic book. Today I finally got to finish the last installment of The Umbrella Academy:Dallas. Gerard and Gabriel have outdone themselves. If you're a comic reader I highly reccomend both The Umbrella Academy:Apocalypse Suite and The Umbrella Academy:Dallas. I was very happy to see Neil Gaiman's wonderful introduction to the paperback book version of the Dallas series. To have such a well known comic creator like Gaiman write the introduction to Dallas is a wonderful compliment to both the comic and it's creator and artist.

For those of you that aren't familiar with The Umbrella Academy it was created by Gerard Way (also the frontman of My Chemical Romance). The story has all the best elements of good comics, awesome art, a great story line, good characters, and the perfect balance between macabre and humor. A very good read.

Last nights meteor shower was good... but I apparently missed most of it. I listened to the internet and watched starting around three am. There were a few really pretty shooting stars, but that was all I saw. My friend K. who lives just a few blocks away said he went out around one and saw a bunch of big ones... so I guess I was too late for anything extraordinary. The constellations were magnificent though. Everything was so bright and brilliant, which is a rarity in phx due to all the dust and pollution. You could clearly see Mars, Venus, and all of Orion, and part of Orion's Nebula, my favorite constellation and nebula. Soon I'd like to go out with the telescope and look into deeper space. It's just too gorgeous.
I have a love/hate relationship with outerspace. I marvel at it's brilliance and crave learning more and more about it, but am terrified of ever actually going into space. When I was younger I sort of wanted to be an astronaut, but then I slowly developed this fear that if I ever was up there I'd run out of air, or crash the shuttle, or get sucked into a black hole. haha. I've deduced since then that I'm probably safer and happier gazing at it's wonder from down hereon Earth. Where we have plenty of oxygen, gravity, and no black holes. I think that even if it's only as an added class or elective I'd really like to study astronomy in college... it's just amazing up there, and I think we should do all we can to learn about and explore this beautiful universe, this amazing creation outside of ourselves. You'd be right in assuming that I'm not too happy about president Obama pulling N.A.S.A.'s funding... oh well.

Probably wrote this... almost a year ago maybe? A random philosophical scribble written in the wee hours of the morning:

"I think that in most cases things that almost happened are much more memorable than things that have happened. Possibly part of that may be because we try to keep those things in our minds and memories not wanting to forget. Whereas, when something memorable has happened we assume we won't forget it, and in most cases eventually do forget. This is why I treasure almosts. This is why it saddens me when I see people I don't know, and we make eye contact, or have a short discussion about something mundane. Because, what if this could end up one of the almosts, an almost almost. Relationships you'll never have with people you'll never formally meet. It's sad. What if you have a lot in common? Read the same short stories and appreciate them for the same reasons, or stay up 'til two am jotting down your thoughts. What if in some parallel dimension you meet this person and develop a relationship... does that somehow passover into this dimension? And is that what makes the smiles so meaningful?"

Dance class after a good week off... surprisingly I'm not really that sore. I accredit that to the fact that I stretch a lot and keep myself warm? Also, I think making myself a nice big cup of hot cocoa last night helped with any aches and pains.

Meteor shower tonight! Hooray! I missed the last one, so tonight I'm staying up late (so much for getting my sleeping patterns to a normal state) and watching it in the backyard... with another cup of cocoa? Oh how I love cocoa these days. I think it's me new coffee (:

I'm crazy about finishing books (I always get part of the way through one only to find another I'd like to start.)... but in the case of Gaiman's Fragile Things it's okay 'cause they're all short stories, and in a way I like the fact that I haven't finished the whole collection yet because I can just pick up the book and read a short story every now and then. I read four of them today before breakfast.

I'm in a huge movie right now what with a long list of movie that are currently in theaters that I so want to see.

Yep, that's my "long list". I just realized... that's all I really want to see but it counts for a thousand movies. All I'm hearing is wonderful thing about it, and I've heard bits of the soundtrack online and I've already fallen in love with that bit. Just can not wait! I know my mom's itching to see it too.

Ah...the last moments of fall break. Ready to get back into the swing of things actually. Only a week off and I can't wait to get back into dance classes!
In addition to the pieces we're working on for Nutcracker we have a really awesome contemporary ballet piece lined up for the winter performance. Lots of fast angular movements, and interesting partnering. Can't wait!

Hmmm...what else is new? Well I got a Last.fm :) I love love love this site. Personalized internet radio. Just wonderful. In fact my station is now what graces this blog. My library is rather eclectic so you can expect a wide range of music. If you have a Last.fm add me :) mypointeofview. Pretty much my main screename for anything. My party is a guide to my favorite Halloween past-times and hauntings. My camera has been fickle lately so the images in this post will be Polyvore sets I've made with a haunting flair!

-This Is Halloween-

The visual aspect of Halloween has always been what has drawn me to it. My favorite issues of magazines (especially Martha Stewart) have always been the Halloween issues. What with the carved pumpkins, cobwebbed table arrangements, and friendly skeletons. The Idea of taking your punch out of a frothing cauldron at a Halloween party, or having a slice of cake that looks just like a graveyard...it's magical, it's one of those holidays where your imagination can really run wild. It turns ours into a fairy-tale world for one magical night when you can be whomever you wish, and have sweets for dinner.

And the elegance of it all! There's an awing Gothic elegance about it all. The black lace, and symphonic metal, it's like being in The Phantom Of The Opera (or at least it is for me). It's an extravagant masquerade with stunning blood red velvets and sparkling golds. You can heard the organ and the tubular bells, and feel the glow of the full moon, and the chilling breeze. You have expect the scarecrows to start dancing to the haunting orchestra of the night.

-Perfect Films For A Halloween Night-

The House Of Usher-A modern take on Edgar Allan Poe's tale The Fall Of The House Of Usher The ending will leave you creeped out for a few days. :)

Sleepy Hollow-Tim Burton is always full of Halloween goodness, but this by far is his most visually stunning in that regard. Not for the squeamish.

The Phantom Of The Opera-Another visually stunning movie with just the right amount of Gothic flair.

The House on Haunted Hill-Vincent Price, always a must for classic horror.

You could make a night of watching all the different Dracula films alone:

Bram Stoker's Dracula-With Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins, and Kenau Reeeves.

Dracula-With the one and only Bela Lugosi, a classic and a must see.

Dracula-Masterpiece Theater's version, one of my all-time favorites.

Dracula 2000-To be honest all I remember about this one is that it has the actor who played Hyde on That 70's Show.

Dracula II: Ascension-I vaguely remember seeing this as well (I went on a Dracula movie binge about a year ago)...if I'm correct the characters in this movie actually purposely bring Dracula back to life, which I found a tad stupid on their part...just saying lol.

Reading has always taken me far away, into magical, wondrous, and sometimes haunting worlds. You never know what's going to be on the next page, around that next dark corner...it's more imagination food, another medium that helps you dream up those houses with winding staircases that lead to vine covered locked doors with secrets tucked safely inside.

-Life & Stuff-

I've never been one to ever wish going back in time. In fact, I've always viewed it as a weakness in someone, a want for escape from their present, and perhaps that is all it is, but right now I'd really like to go back ten years, be eight again.
At eight I was running around completely oblivious to everyday dilemmas. I could play with sidewalk chalk, and make mudpies all the while not having to worry about the mess.

I'm in that "Ignorance Is Bliss" state...I want to go back a bit, enjoy my childhood a bit more. I feel like I'm growing up to fast haha. It's that bit of realization after your eighteenth birthday I guess. A friend of mine went through it, only for him it was at twenty. We were sitting in the back of the theatre (where our winter performance was being held) on the back of the seats, which the teacher was not happy about, and he was talking about how turning twenty was this odd turning point for him. Sure eighteen was weird but you're still a kid, you can still ask for help if you need it, but he felt like no matter what he had to be completely self-sufficient by twenty. I don't feel quite that way about eighteen, but I'm getting that voice at the back of my head "You need to grow up! Be responsible! Stop being such a baby! Don't be so selfish!".

I guess I just have to deal with the fact that I'm not eight anymore...that was ten years ago, and maybe it's not as urgent (growing up) as I seem to think it is, but I can't revert to being a child again either. I just have to keep going forward with my life, and not worry if I hit a few stumbling blocks along the way.

-A Week Of Nothing?-

This week was fall break for me, and I feel like I've not done too much. I think I needed the break though. Even if I didn't hang out with anyone or make plans. I've had the sniffles for a few weeks now, and this week gave me lots of extra time for sleeping in :)

-No More Room!-

I've been posting a lot of the walls in my room lately. For those of you who don't know a few months ago I started turning my walls into one big collage with magazine clippings and other odds and ends. Now I can officially say that there is no more wall space! I mean I have a few areas with posters that I suppose I could take down, but not for a while...and I'm not even going to try covering my ceiling. Last time I put a poster up there it hit me in the face in the middle of the night...lol.

I know...it's been more than a month! Possibly my longest blogging break ever, but I'm back!

I just had to get life straightened out a bit adjust to the many changes life brings. I'm at a new dance school now, and very happy there but the transition took about two months...but all that's in the past now!

Ahhh...and now for the catching up! I have so much to share, and things I'm a little late on too so let's begin.

Months ago I was gifted with a doorprise from Bunnykissd because of the Mad Tea Party we were both participating in. She sent me the lovely Alice themed card below. Thank you so much for being patient with my slowness in posting it!

-More Happenings-

In addition to creating my own wallpaper by way of magazine clippings, I've been expanding on other creative areas of my brain. Spent some time working of some digital art on my polyvore account, and taking some great art book classes with my mom.

Kelly Kilmer is a well known mixed media artist and instructor, and she was in town to teach a class and I went with my mom. My mom regularly takes Kelly's classes when she's in town but this was my first, and I so enjoyed it! I made and art book, bound it myself, painted the pages, and did collage work it was great fun!

[I also got to take home this huge stack of papers, images, and stickers to use on future collaged pages of my book!]

It was a wonderful class and I really enjoyed it!

-Ten Interesting Things About Myself-

1)I have nightmares when reading about the Spanish Inquisition.

2)I don't like Finding Nemo at all, and consider it Pixar's failing (right behind *gag* Cars of course.

3)I often sleep in my clothes, and then in the morning change into P.J.'s before getting dressed for the day. I don't even understand it.

4)I love things that remind me of kindergarten. Goldfish crackers, sidewalk chalk, juice boxes, and Curious George.

5)I have never been kissed.

6)Have devoted part of my life to finding some sort of physical copy of Vsotsky's music. If you find something let me know! Listening to his music was banned in Soviet Russia so finding his stuff is very hard, but he's amazing!

(Because I had to post it...Baryshnikov dancing to Vsotsky's "Horses" in the movie White Nights Amazing!)

7)I often fall asleep on my living room sofa...

8)I want so badly to learn French and to speak it without an accent.

9)I speak Greek without an accent, and Greek was the first language I learned to read and write (although I learned to speak English first).

10)I miss late night conversations with friends on the phone. It seems no one like actually using their phones for calls anymore. :(

[The View From The Coffee Shop Window]

-In My World-
The night before last I got rather restless, it was far too late to do anything and when I get restless I tend to rearrange things in my bedroom. So I did. I have my televisoin positioned so it's behind my bed in a way which makes watching movies in bed easier. I decided to decorate the walls of that little T.V. nook with all my movie posters. :) So I did. I also took a bunch of my old drawings off of one expance of wall and nearly finished an enitre walls worth of collage. I think I spent something like two hours moving things around...
Everyone's entitled to their own OCD I guess, right?

After I finished all that I wandered into the living room with my mom and my brother and we watched some Doctor Who! I love it so much. I remember my mom introducing me to the original long ago it was just marvelous. I was skeptical when we brought the new series home from the library...you can't just remake Doctor Who! But it's fabulous! We finished the first series of the new, and are on to the second! They changed Doctor's seamlessly...just awesome. Haha but if you've never seen it you probably don't get what I'm going on about...so go see it!

-Questions & Answers-

-How Long Have You Been Dancing? I started formal ballet lessons at about five, and have been dancing ever since so that makes almost thirteen years of dancing!

-What Kind Of Animal Hybrid Do You Wish Existed? Hmmm...awesome question by the way. I fear my answer is going to come out pretty lame.
A cat with wings would be pretty cool...although I'd fear for the bird population.

-If You Could Change Your Hair/Eye Color Would You And To What? I think I'd keep my eye color, just because there's something so personal and hand-picked about eyes. Even if I hated them I think I'd keep them the same just for that reason. Though vampire eyes'd be cool! Haha.
Hair? Again I like the color of my hair though I'd love to either go jet black or a shade or two redder.

-What Type Of Camera Do You Use In Your Photography? Well...I don't actually own a camera. I want one so badly! But I don't have one. I take all of my photos on my phone! I'm amazed at how good the camera is on this thing because I got one of those "free with mail in rebate" phones. Lol. But I works marvelously for now. Someday though I'd love to have a nice professional Nikon or Canon.

-What Programs Do You Use For Photo Editing/Post Processing? This is really funny...my mom owns Photoshop CS4 pro, Photoshop Elements 6 and Corel Painter X, and I don't use any of them. Stupid? Probably...I just don't even think to ask to use them. Anyway, at the moment I just use the stock editer on Photobucket. It works well, and I normaly don't need to do much more to the photos than change contrast and things like that.

-La-Di-Da-

While I sat and sipped my "cafe carmel" yesterday I looked across the street at the church there and saw people leaving a wedding. The bride was in a very traditional dress...save the fact that it was Lime Green, bridesmades in dresses of the same color. The groomsen were in black suits and white shirts with lime green vests and those classicaly "mobster" fedoras...it was different. Definitely a sight to see!

My brother kindly reminded me that the playstation plays dvds! So I finished Priceless last night and am going to finish Rachel Getting Married tonight. If I have time maybe I'll re-watch The Fountain I love that movie!

Yesterday was the birthday of two of my inspirations, Ray Bradbury and Claude Debussy. Both were amazing creators in their own regard. Bradbury was a master storyteller, and Debussy was an amazing composer. I've always wanted to find out if there is any recording of the The Fall Of The House Of Usher opera he was working on...

I've gotten back into some drawing for now it's just a stream on conscienceness type of sketching, but it's definitely getting me back into the swing of things.

I've also decided to not major in animation when I reach college. I am much more interested in the direction and art direction of films, so I'll probably, when college rolls around, major in film direction or something along those lines. Eventually art direction is the course I'd like to go...but I'm always budding with new ideas of ways to plan my life after a dance career so you never know!

Thinking About:There was this one Demetri Marten show I saw on Youtube, and in part of it he talked about how he had at one point read through the dictionary and every time he came across a word he didn't know or that he found interesting he wrote it with it's definition on an index card so that he could reference it later and eventually memorize it. I think I want to start doing that. :)

I love it when fans decide to make videos for their favorite artists because you see how they personally interpret the song. I especially love these. They're so childlike, like a perfect sing-a-long/coloring book of smiles.

[I rearranged my bookshelves the other day. This is a habit I have, when I'm itching to do something or stressed or nervous I re-organize and I clean. If any of you ever need a clean house just ask me over when I'm anticipating something :D]

-These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things-

I randomly feel like sharing some of my favorite things with you. Be warned though, I can be a bit of an oddball ;).

Star Wars everything. I love watching the films and talking geek about the with people. I have the trivia game and the monopoly game along with a full length copy of the script to "Return Of The Jedi". I love it so much that I picked an incredibly greasy R2D2 Pez dispenser up off the ground in a parking lot, brought it home and cleaned it so I could keep it. (It actually happens to be in the above photo)

Sweets. I love frozen yogurt and sour candy. Cupcakes and things like that. Fresh fruit. They make my day when I'm feeling down.

Synth Pop.

Handmade things. I love making things myself. Like stuffies or sketches and comic book art (as most of you know I looove drawing Batman characters), I like making clothes...I just like making stuff! And being gifted with handmade things :)
In fact I'm thinking about organizing a monthly handmade swap. Feedback?

Watching animals. Especially cats :)

Bees. I love them so much. There's a beauty about them that no other living creature has. We have a family of bees living in our rosemary plant and they're all very friendly. :) Please be kind to bees! So many of them are going extinct! And without bees we loose so much of what we love! Flowers and growing things! Honey!

-Life & Stuff-

Spent yesterday in wonderful wonderful Prescott. Where it's always so much cooler and breezier than in Phoenix, and where everything has that small town feel. It's the closest thing to the East Coast you'll get here in Arizona.

Anyway, we went to spend some more time with the cousins. Lots of fun. There seemed to be some sort of hula-hoop/juggling party going on at the square, odd but cool. Went to the candy store! It's the best I got some of the taffy (it's the best taffy ever to grace the planet), and then we had dinner at Texas Roadhouse, I think it's a chain? My parents and my second cousins (who are my mom's cousins, my fourth cousins are the one's my age seeing as I have no first cousins....confused yet?) promptly told the waitress it was my birthday. Not cool...it's a couple weeks away and I HATE those weird loud songs they sing to you in places like this. Oh well. It was definitely embarassing. They had me sit on a saddle in the middle of the walkway and screamed their version of "Happy Birthday" kindly *cough* not *cough* using my name, and the fact that I was turning eighteen...oh dear. It's funny to look back on, and I did get to celebrate a bit with my cousins which was great :) But still weird. Haha. My brother had the best moment of the night by far though. You know those guys who go from table to table making balloon animals? Well when he stopped at our table my brother (Who, mind you is fifteen years old but looks older than I and is nearly six feet tall and always well dressed.) looks at the man and as loud as he can with this adoreable todler like squint on his face says with utmost enthusiasm "I WANT A PARTY HAT!" >.< (That was his face >.<). The guy looked at his so funny! It was great.

Haha but to top off my embarassment I find that my mom has posted pictures of my "Birthday" at TX Roadhouse on Facebook...dear lord...

But all in all, it was great fun! I really hope that we can go up there more often and that my cousins will come to AZ again soon! And maybe I can visit them in WA? (Hinting to whichever parent might be reading this? Do you guys even read this anymore?)

Finished the "Julie & Julia" audiobook!

Played lots of piano, and can now play a number of Regina songs off her album "Soviet Kitch"

Ate at The Orange Table again <3>

Got my room clean after a week of not putting anything away.

Sucessfully made hard boiled eggs if you're my mom you know how hard this is for me...

Went to Dairy Queen for the first time in my life. Had a cookie dough Blizzard. Still not sure what the hype's about.

Discovered a Lush store at the mall here :)

Decided to start cooking a lot more. Things more elaborate than Tuna salad sandwiched and Chicken and vegetable curry over rice.

Affirmed my slight obsession with The Smiths whilst hearing them being played over the loud speaker at Lush.

-Lots Of Catching Up To Do-

My goodness! I have been rather lazy in making posts/comments now haven't I? Life has been beyond busy. There have been more ups and downs in the past few weeks than I've had in maybe an entire years worth of living, but I'm not going to bore you all with any details.

I'm definitely reassessing a lot of my life right now. Taking on new challenges, trying to become more self-motivating, and stuff like that.

-Challenges!-

Learn better ways to stay self motivated. This will come in handy when trying to complete the other challenges I'm setting for myself!

Work out at home on a regular schedule. It's harder than it sounds. I've found that if I do a little something when I wake up it becomes easier to stick to other things throughout the day. So, stretching in the morning, and doing some pilates/other exercise throughout the day, and do some sit-ups at night whilst mindlessly watching Will & Grace, which I do anyway, now I'll just feel like less of a vegetable while doing so. Works for me :)

Learn to cook. The basics are needed in my case. I've been reading some of my mom's cookbooks lately, but non of them go as in depth in the very basic elements of cooking as Julia Child's "Mastering The Art Of French Cooking". I learned how to poach an egg, my favorite variety of egg preparation...but only in theory lol eventually I shall actually try it.

Find more time to read the books I want to read and watch the films I want to watch. I have stacks and stacks of books and movies in my room. Ones I've bought, or borrowed from the library that I just never seem to get around to finishing...or starting.

Become somewhat vegetarian or Flexitarian. I am not a huge meat fan, though I think it would be hard to give it up entirely especially since I don't cook all of the meals in my house and I live with non-vegetarians and with someone who's doctor has put him on a high-protein diet for his health. Also, I couldn't give up fish for the world...so this seems to be the most realistic option.

Get more do it yourself-y. I love making things and reading books on making things. So I figure I oughtta actually I don't know....Make Things?

I realized something as a wrote the above: considering my great love for fine cooking and good food it's a rather good thing I'm a ballerina, enjoy exercise, and have a rather healthy metabolism... I'd be sure to end up a balloon otherwise.

-Television-

Summer here is coming to a close, not weather wise (summer weather here lasts well into October), but schedule wise. Almost everyone's getting back to school and work and their other various activities. I however don't start school until the Monday after Labor Day, and have found myself sleeping a lot more, and watching more television. I feel like a teenager...not that I'm not a teenager because I am, it's just that stereotypical summertime lazy teenager thing. I know this will all change once school and all the other busy things of my life kick-in, it's just an odd feeling to have...the time wasting.

Anyway, I have learned the following whilst watching television.

When you've come home after a dance class with a blister the size of a nickle on your toe, entirely exhausted it is actually entertaining to watch a Scottish documentary on the behaviour of cats on PBS in the middle of the night. Nothing like watching an array of different cats sleeping, grooming, mating and what-not with random frames of Scottish country-side staring you in the face for ten seconds after every paragraph the narrator has finished.

I have a small crush on Will of Will & Grace. It's not enough that it's a fictional television character that I'm fond of, but a gay one...just my luck.

Watching Malcolm In The Middle will make anyone feel 100% better about their life, guaranteed. Just try it.

-Eighteen.-

Dear Lord! I'm going to be eighteen fairly soon...

I have never felt a birthday be so daunting. I guess it's the whole "You're a legal adult in the US" thing...not much other than that comes with the age though. Here unlike other places you aren't of drinking age yet, and I still haven't learned to drive...so really it's just like any other birthday just one that seems to have a significant meaning to society. I will be able to buy a pack of cigarettes, which although I don't smoke I might buy just because I can. They can sit on a shelf in my room with the receipt inside one of the ash trays I've seemed to accumulated for no apparent reason as testament to the fact that I've reached the age of eighteen. I have no plans for a party...we'll see with everyone back in school planning things like this seems silly. Normally my birthday falls right after or on Labor Day weekend, but this year it's five days before...maybe I can arrange a small birthday get together that weekend? Since everyone seems to have that off. I don't know...I suppose I'll figure it out. Haha.

-Never Take A Long Walk In Arizona In August. Period.-

My cousins came to visit during the week. We went to the mall for a bit since it's the only cool (temperature-wise) place to be in the summer here. Spent some time at Urban, and got yummy food at the food court. We went to See's Candies to get a chocolate lollipop, and hope that the lady at the counter would offer us some free samples which she did, they were walnut squares I believe, walnut and gooey carmel with a dark chocolate bottom. Yum! On our way out of the mall we notice a bunch of paramedics and a little boy of about three being transported from Wetzels Pretzels on a stretcher. The pretzel shop roped off with yellow tape, and a mall cop taking pictures of the blood on the floor! What on earth could that boy have done to himself at a soft pretzel shop? My brother joked that he was probably beaten with a pretzel but my cousin Dillon more realistically said that he probably hit his head on the counter or something...either way it was something to see, and I hope that the little boy is alright, and knowing little boys if he is alright he's telling all his friends at school the story of how he survived some strange injury at Wetzels Pretzels.

After we left the mall we decided to take a trolley ride around. Downtown Scottsdale has a free trolley service that stops at every stop every fifteen minutes and runs until nine pm. It will take you anywhere on it's route (which Is quite expansive) and is supposed to also take you round trip back to where you started if you want. Our wish was to go round trip, and that didn't happen...

We got on the trolley at the stop nearest the bookstore and about fifteen minutes late (and quite a ways a way from the bookstore) the driver stops the trolley and takes out a newspaper and says "Get Off", so reluctantly we do with very little idea of where we are. My brother found a map and we finally realized where we were...it was going to be a long walk. We made it something like four or five (maybe more...) city blocks in the hundred degree heat, and realized there was no way we could make it to the bookstore 'cause we weren't even halfway there yet. So, we were lucky enough to have given up on a corner that had a Starbucks (or could that have just been incentive along with the heat to give up on the walk?) we went in got some water and called for a ride. The right thing to do absolutely!

Haha so it was an adventure, an exhausting one the resulted in extreme thirst, a rather large bloody blister on my heel from the shoes I was wearing (didn't think I'd be walking that much), and very sweaty clothes, but it was still fun when you look back on it. It's not everyday you get kicked off a trolley with your cousins, get lost and attempt walking back to where you were in the Arizona heat. When I got home I put some loose clothes on and sat in the living room to maybe watch some television 'cause I was so tired, and I fell asleep for a good three hours and slept that night! It was a long day but good :)

The past week has gone for the most part without event. Most of my friends were on vacations so I spent most of my time doing laundry, playing piano, and texting.
I want to get to a used bookstore and browse the VHS section since my DVD player has died, it's official. I'm running out of anything that isn't an animated Disney film to watch.

I found a box of all my knitting stuff. I had first learned from my Grandmother years ago, and then she died and my lessons stopped. I took a few classes when on vacation, and that's when I started my scarf. I knit a few rows every year or so now... I found the box whilst cleaning out my closet (that was LONG overdue), and found the scarf, so one of my goals is to finish that thing! It seems I've been adding on stitches somehow because this scarf is as wide as the front of a mini-skirt. haha. oh well.

I also found an electric fan while cleaning house. No one seems to want it so it's in my room now! My room is one of the hottest in the house especially in the summer. It's against an outside wall facing west so the sun beats down on it most of the day, and there's piping going through that wall, which is where my bed is, and the pipes heat up super hot in the wall so that when you touch the wall it's like touching a kettle that's set to boil. So, you can see that this fan is something I'm definitely grateful for!

I might get to go see Blue October with my friend this weekend! So that's pretty exciting. That band means a lot to me and to her. I'm not incredibly familiar with their music (but she's a die hard fan), but I'm very fond of the members their message and what they mean to my friend. So, going to see them would be pretty awesome! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

So I've been a bit lazy in posting and commenting, but summer is taking over and I find myself with less time to blog and more things to do in the real world.
Like, working on my bedroom. I'm always working on something in here from rearranging my closet to finishing up another wall collage. Anyway, there's always something to do. I recently finished the collage I was doing on my closet doors. I'm running out of free space on my walls!

My DVD player died on me :(
It now plays part of a movie, and the starts over, and get just a tiny bit further, and then starts over again. Not cool. I have resorted to going through all our old VHS tapes and finding movies to watch that way. It's rather enjoyable actually, once you get past the dead DVD player part lol.

Michael Cera, and Zooey Deschanel are the two cutest people in Hollywood right now. Hands down.

Anthony Green's side project sounds nothing like Circa Survive. But most side projects are different...

It really is too hot to think here. I quite want to move to the north pole right now!
I think I better go, get a cold drink, and sit on my bed and watch my VHS of "Sliding Doors". Sounds good to me :)

Yep. I've been very lazy about posting this past week...and leaving comments. My apologies. There's something about summertime between the summer activities, and lack thereof due to the excruciating Arizona heat (no one like 120 degree days...) it's hard to even try to concentrate enough to make a blog post.

I've been spending the time with my fan on in my room, eating ice-cream sandwiches and salads, trying to read, or watch a movie, or listen to music. Pretty much anything to keep my mind off the heat. NOT EASY.

-Random Paragraphs Describing Things That Have Occurred Since I Last Posted-

Well, describing the photo above...I cut my own hair! A few inches shorter, I'm letting my bangs grow out, so I can cut them again, but in a better fashion. I'm also sporting a center, or closer to center, part now...like I used to when I was younger. It actually worked though! Straight across, no weird issues. I shall never need to spend money on a haircut again! Haha.

Soooo...I had a a cool little experience at the local Target. I love people watching, but it very rarely produces as much entertainment as this recent bout of people watching. I was sifting through travel toothpaste (yeah...) when my mom called me over to her.
Mom:You just missed something really funny.
Me:What?
Mom:There was this boy, like five ten-ish maybe fourteen years old, totally stoned, and he walks up to one of the employees next to me.

Boy:Hey...
Employee:Yes.
Boy:Do you guys have any like...snacks...like the food kind...haha...that you...haha...eat? Haha...y'know?
Employee:...uh...that way *points in direction of snackage*

Mom:It was so funny.
Me:Crap! I missed that!?!

So I went back to my travel sized toothpaste/shampoo rummaging...and then, I saw him, walking down the center of the aisle, disheveled grinning, and totally stoned, like totally...carrying a shopping cart's worth of chip bags/candy bars/cracker boxes in his arms. I almost died laughing. I may have ended up on the floor of that aisle laughing at one point...I'm not sure I was laughing too hard. Talk about a case of the munchies!
It was funny. Very. "Vince The Loveable Stoner" (Title to a Fratellis song...thought it fit. That guy's name is now Vince.

[Saw these at an antique store. Apparently there's a big market for worn Hawaiian shirts...weird. I felt like calling DiNozo (You'd have to be a NCIS fan...)]

Yep, spent some time at an antique store today. Found an rather old and beat-up copy of a Bob Dylan album on vinyl (that we already own on CD) going for twenty-something dollars. Why? Their vinyl prices were odd and all over the place...

I did see this really cool mobile, toy, thing.

And a Return Of The Jedi story on vinyl picture disc. Very cool. :D

A "Mexican Chocolate Latte". Lots of foamy chocolate, cinnamon goodness. If you're ever in Scottsdale AZ I suggest you go to The Orange Table. Great little cafe/bar/grill. I had "Green Flannel Corned Beef Hash", pretty much your average corned beef hash with green peppers and jalapenos, sourdough toast, and poached eggs. Yum.

Happy July all! I'm amazed (as always) at how fast the time goes by...I can't imagine what it will be like when I'm older!

I've started posting on Music.Is.Life again. It feels like forever since I've done this, and I enjoy it so much. My apologies Jenna...

Right now it feels like summer's really starting! I feel like I should be drinking cool drinks, and reading short stories more. . .well even more since I tend to that that stuff anyway :D

-Life & Stuff-

The summer has gone along without much event, and with many events, yet all of them are both small and large...does that even make sense? That all of the events in the past month have had both amazing effect and no effect at all on my life? Can their be such duality in life? Where one thing can be both it's opposites. Well, it seems as if this is what's going on.

I didn't go to my summer dance program. We tried but it just didn't work out this year. I am taking open classes multiple times a week though, so I guess that makes up for not taking the program.

This is on the one hand, not a good thing I suppose, but on the other a very good thing. I'm happy to have the time away from the intense structure, and I'm getting time to take classes I've wanted to but wasn't able to. I'm learning more in different areas. Taking modern classes and pilates, the occasional ballet. A break from my particular norm, but I'm enjoying it.

Having a bit more free time especially in the summer is also a good thing. Seeing old friends, reading books I hadn't the chance to. Record store browsing, and band practicing. All things that I've really not had the time to do in years.

I suppose also I have this odd felling in the back of my mind, about going back to the studio in the fall for the school year. I will be the only Senior there, the only graduating student. I find it scary, I find growing up scary, turning eighteen, becoming in the countries eye and "adult". It's weird. Very.

I am rather excited about it also though...being the senior student, the responsibility, the ballet and modern company auditions. It's something to look forward to. Also, my back ups, college dance program auditions and such. I was accepted to UNCSA's (University of North Carolina School For The Arts) summer dance program this year, and they're a big choice for me college wise if I'm not accepted into a dance company right away.

Future. . . Saki. . .

It seems so much closer. More Daunting. I really haven't made up my mind. And I have. But in too many different ways. I have many options, which is a good thing. Now it's just a matter of settling down my brain and picking one of them.

It think I often have too many ideas running 'round in my head at once. Dreams of what I could be doing, now, and in the future.

I've found that living in the moment really helps when my brain runs amok like this. Just doing what calms me down. Photography, taking pictures, it's the ultimate of living in the moment, and capturing it, so it never goes away. You don't have to think much about what's going to happen next. You just relish in the beauty of now. I love it so much.

I think, in a perfect world (here's my brain dreaming again...), that I would be more than content in a little house with a little garden, working at the local bookstore, and taking photos with my free time maybe making a little business of it?
Spending hot summer afternoons in a rather large kiddie pool underneath a great billowing tree in my backyard. Sitting in the cool water, reading a book or working a crossword puzzle. It seems to me that I'd enjoy that quite thoroughly.

So, I am to list ten honest things about myself. Here goes...

One. I would quite like a boyfriend that's a cross between Michael Cera and Dimitry Marten <3

Two. I have a fairly bad reaction to adhesive. So much so that leaving a band-aid on for more than a few hours leaves me with painful red welts.

Three. I could sit in a bookstore cafe for hours. Just me and wonderful books coffee and baked treats. Mmmm.

Four. I am an avid watcher of i-carly. I can't help it. It's a wonderful program!

Five. Everytime I make tunafish salad, it's a bit different. I love trying out new spices and adding chopped up veggies and fruit.

Six. I find Mozart highly overrated, but I do love some of his works.

Seven. I think, if I could I go back to a steady stream of goth clothing, but Hot Topic is expensive. xD I think though, that I'll always being a "Happy Goth" at heart.

Eight. Usually, I'm not a big fan of comedy. I find it rather un-funny. There are of course exceptions.

Nine. I dip my french fries in my frosty when I'm at Wendy's (doesn't everyone?)

Ten. I find nothing more beautiful then a day spent outdoors with coffee, good music, a good book, and good company.
