Well "listen" to this, Jeb: You, Colin Powell, Michael Steele and many other GOP leaders don't seem to be getting it. If you keep up with that RINO mantra that seems to have overtaken the Republican Party, you will doom the GOP to remain in the minority for another 40 years.

The solution to Republican Party success is not to become more like Democrats!

Your Dad started it. He couldn't hold a candle to Reagan's conservative values and ended up being a one-termer, losing to Bill Clinton. His 'no news taxes, oops I didn't really mean it' ploy cinched it. Conservatives were so unhappy with his RINO policies they opted for Perot, if nothing else than to avoid voting for a RINO.

Clinton skated for two terms because all we could muster to oppose him was Bob Dole, another 'centrist' Republican.

George Bush talked a good line but soon became a disappointment on domestic issues because he never met a spending bill he didn't like. I think he so wanted support in Iraq/Afghanistan from the Dems that he tried to appease them by signing every budget busting spending bill they came up with. It was the war that carried him -- barely -- for a second term.

Then there's McCain. For years it has done little good to tell him to get back on his side of the isle, because you couldn't tell what side of the isle he belonged on. On more than one occasion I've remarked that he was on of the best Democrats they had on their team. There was no way he was going to pull the conservative vote, especially in light of the popularity of Obama.

I keep hearing from you centrist RINO Republicans that we must leave Reagan behind.

What part of 'Reagan' do you mean?

Are you saying we need to set aside our goal of striving for Freedom? Our quest for individual Liberty? The desire for limited government?

Mr Bush, there is no statute of limitations on these 'self evident truth's'.

Granted, Reagan ran the deficit up. But a large part of that was military spending that was designed to break the back of the Soviet Union. And it worked. I didn't agree with eveything Reagan did. He was not a God or a Supreme Leader. He was a man. He made mistakes. But his philosophy of individual Freedom, Liberty, limited government to allow us to seek the Pursuit of Happiness led to two landslide victories.

One of my favorite quotes from Ronald Reagan, and I'm paraphrasing here, is that he didn't see it as right or left, but rather up or down. Up towards freedom or down to tyranny.

What's old fashioned about that, Mr. Bush?

The fact is there's no Reagan nostalgia here. Reagan is gone, but there is a yearning to get this country back on track moving towards the things Reagan espoused: Individual Freedom, limited government, property rights, lower taxes.

Those things are not nostalgic, Mr. Bush. Taking up the cause for those things are what will get you elected.

By the way, did algore ever divulge that the IPCC Summary was actually written by only 52 guys and was never actually supported enmasse by the thousands as he said it was? He's been lying since, well at least since he was a Vice President. Hell, the title says it all: vice.

A little mental analogy to understand the federal health care issue

This is just a little mental analogy I'm thinking about to see if I can wrap my mind around what the problem is vs. their solution.

Total U.S. area is a little over 3 million square miles

The US Population is a little over 300 million people

distributed equally, that's about 100 people per square mile, give or take a few.

Obama says there are 40 million people without health insurance, which we know is highly inflated for many reasons.

In reality it's probably less than 1/4 of that. It's called poverty.

But let's humor him and go with 40 million, that's 400,000 'square miles of people'. 400,000 out of 3 million square miles

So what's 400,000 square miles? Approx Nevada, Colorado, Oregon, Wyoming.

So the federal government is proposing completely revamping, aka nationalizing (despite vehement denials) the entire country's health care system in order to absorb the people of 4 states (all non-payers!), paid for by the people of the other 56 states. What? Err, no that was Obama saying there were 60 states. I mean the other 46 states.

On its face this makes no sense.

This argument should not be about the intricate details of what may or may not be included in a federal health care plan. The argument should be about out of control spending of the federal government. It should be about whether the federal government should be in the health care business AT ALL.

What we're seeing are millions of 'Joe the Plumbers' who have finally had enough of Big Brother government

Americans have been pushed too far, too fast and the Silent Majority is standing up and saying "No, You Can't!"

Bailouts, buyouts, 'stimulus', corruption, global taxes on air and now national socialist health care. What's next, gun control? 'Fairness' doctrine? Enough!

We should NOT get caught up worrying about the intricate details of what will be in a federal health care plan. The opposition should be whether the federal government should be running the health care business AT ALL. The examples of government run VA and Medicare should tell you all you need to know. Or how about Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, AmTrack. How are they working out? These government-backed monopolies are a terrible solution. (Don't get me started on education.)

(Obama proved the point today by saying 'Look at UPS and FedEx, they're doing fine. It's the Post Office that's the problem.' Ha! Yeah, can you guess which of the three is on the verge of bankruptcy annually, coming hat in hand to Congress for more money? How is ObamaCare going to be any different?)

I'm no fancy lawyer but I've been buying car insurance since I was 16 years old (I'm 56). It's mandated in every state. It's obvious that all drivers need to carry insurance in order to drive. I can shop around any time and switch to any other company for a better deal. Everyone with a home mortgage has to buy insurance. That's not even for your benefit really. It's for the lender's protection! Yet we all do it. But we can shop around and pick a company with the best service and rates. That's competition.

It shouldn't be that hard to figure out a similar system for health care. The purpose of government should be to implement only enough regulation to keep the insurance companies ethical and operating in a legal, ethical and honest way. The market will take care of the rest. If government gets out of the business, band-aids wouldn't cost $50 in a hospital. True competition will drive the prices down. With Medicare's open spigot of money, nobody cares what it costs!

Nothing should be free, no matter who you are. The only exceptions should be the disabled, infirm and people unable to work (I'm not saying all elderly. I know many people in their late 60's and 70's who happily and actively work or run their own business. Reaching 65 and quitting should not guarantee you 20+ years of free health care. Obviously those promised this deal should get it, but it should be phased out over time. A better long-term solution is private IRAs, not government run FICA.)

President Obama admits private companies can handle business better than government-spawned entities. Of course that wasn't his intent but what other conclusion could you reach?

"He [Obama] also disputed the notion that adding a government-run insurance plan
into a menu of options from which people could pick would drive private insurers out
of business, in effect making the system single-payer by default.

As long as they have a good product and the government plan has to sustain itself
through premiums and other non-tax revenue, private insurers should be able to
compete with the government plan, Obama said.
