Lanna Will Be - Facebook Meme Funness

My friend Margo tagged me on Facebook with the request:

Go to google. Type in your name and the words "will be," all in quotes, as in "lanna will be." Write down the first ten you find.

This is where it gets a bit weird. In Thailand "Lanna (English One Million Rice Fields, Thai: ล้านนา) was a kingdom in the north... around the city of Chiang Mai." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanna) Apparently Lanna is pretty popular in Thai culture.

New Job thoughts and other things

So, I am almost at the end of the fourth week at my new job. Yes, I got a new job! (If you follow me on twitter (look to the left), you probably already know this.) I am working as a Jr. Programmer/Analyst at a marketing research firm in Kennebunkport. Well, I am working for Aquent, a staffing agency for marketing companies, and my assignment is a temp-to-permanent. And I want to tell you a secret: I love it! Love it!

I still haven't figured out everything I will be doing, but the things I have been doing, learning Wincross, coding for both SPSS and Wincross, creating tons of crosstabulation tables (working on a project that had 241 tables for one version of the survey and 344 tables for the other version.) It's challenging, fun, and it's the kind of work I love, the kind with a finish point. When I complete a project, I can just move to the next one. Well, the way it will work, when I get totally up to speed, is that I will have many projects going at the same time.

That project I have been working on, wow, it has been very hard, and frankly, probably should have gone to one of the more experienced programmers. However, it fell through the cracks and it wasn't on anyone's production schedule, so I was asked to pick it up. I am so glad I got to do it. Because now, any other project will seem easy in comparison!

Oh, the picture above is from this February's Boskone. I brought my art to sell and I sold 2 pictures! (I realized I didn't mention it on the blog earlier.) (And I wanted to use a picture.) (So now I have.) (times two.)

Well, I am not doing NaNoWriMo this year. Not enough time. But, in solidarity with my NaNo friends, I will participate in NaBloPoMo!

Last night I helped my parents with their trick-or-treaters. This lovely pumpkin greeted each child:

I rebooted my car today

It was time to leave the mall. I started my car. The sun was out, and since my car was parked in the sun, it was hot inside. So, like people do, I proceeded to roll down the power window.

Click.

Huh?

Driver's side window wasn't working. Click. Tried passenger side. Click. Back-window vents. Click.

Shit.

Maybe it was a fuse. I got out my trusty instruction manual. My power windows are on the same fuse as the ignition, yet my car was running. So...

I turned my car off.

I turned it back on.

My window worked.

Seriously, I rebooted my car!

Here are the comments from the van-naming survey:

1. Lanna is awesome! Have a cookie!
2. I also name my vehicles, my new car is mary, I like the stephen king reference....
3. I say HMC Blanche as in Her Majesty's Chariot "Blanche". On the other hand with the Haiwaiin flowers and depending on how you drive the Stitch mobile ( as in Lilo and STitch) might be more appropriate. Maybe Ohona van? clearly its too early for me:)
4. She has always depended upon the kindness of (Ford) Rangers.
5. I like Moby - the Great White MiniVan. Good idea, that one. But for some reason, when i saw the picture of the minivan the first time, the name "Beaver" sprang to mind. I don't even know if it's "Beaver" as in "The Beave" or as in the dam-builder.
