You know, the guy isn't even 6 feet tall! He is actually only 5 ' 10.75''. So its clear that he can jump. But without any exercises no one can jump that high. There are a lot of exercises that may increase your vertical leap but the most of them are simply not effective.
So which exercises are the most effective? Here are the top 5 exercises to increase your vertical leap:
1. Jump Rope
It's a very common exercise and the reason why is because it works. Jumping rope not only gives you explosiveness and calf strength but is also a great way to build stamina, and work on your overall leg strength. Jump rope at least three times per week to build up your aerobic fitness level.
2. Calf Raises
Calf raises are a very effective exercise because they train the muscles that give you the explosive boost in the jumping process. Here is how you do it: Stand on a foot block or the first step of a staircase in your house and rise up on your toes as far as possible. Hold the contraction briefly, then slower return to the starting position. Strong calves help you do quick, on the spot jumping.
3. Lunges
This is a great exercise because it simultaneously trains different muscles that are involved in the jumping process - the thighs, the lower leg, the backside muscles, the abdominal muscles. Stand in an upright position, step as far forward as possible with no forward lean of the upper body until your front knee is at 90 degree angle. Then step back to the original position in one step. Do this 8 times with one leg, then 8 with the other. You also can use some dumbbells.
4. Step Ups
For this exercise you need a bench or something you can step on (about 15 inches high). Just stand in an upright position, then step up on the bench at the height that would put your knee at a 90 -degree angle. Do 8 repetitions with one leg and repeat with the other. This exercise is a perfect extension to the lunge-exercise because you train the the antagonistic muscle group.
5. Touch the Rim
Either stand under the rim and try to touch it with one or both hands or take a running start and jump as high as possible to reach the rim. Important: Try to perform this exercise very clean and with maximum power and repeat it only limited times (for example max. 3 sets with 5 repetitions). After that don't do any leg exercises for 24 - 48 hours. Your muscles need time to grow and regenerate.
Besides these exercises its important that you take care of your nutrition. The most important point here is limiting the amount of fat that you take to you. Fat makes food taste delicious but its the biggest enemy of an athlete cause its the extra weight you have to get up in the air and it inhibits the flexibility of the muscles you need to jump. So, if you are able to control your nutrition and will use the exercises above serious results are guaranteed.

Allen Iverson History. For his fans;)

Born on June 7 , 1975 , Allen Iverson is a graduate of Georgetown and currently plays a guard position for the Philadelphia 76 ers. He stands 6 ' tall and weighs 165 lbs. Following his high school years at Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia, Allen Iverson was honored by having his jersey number retired during the school's 1993 State Championship halftime ceremony. After high school, Iverson continued his love of basketball as he entered into his collegiate years. During his freshman year in college, Allen Iverson was named the Big East Rookie of the Year. The following year, during his sophomore season, Iverson was named First Team All- America by the Associated Press. In addition, he was chosen as the Big East Defensive Player of the Year consecutively.
The 1996-1997 season marked Allen Iverson's rookie year in the NBA. After quickly establishing himself as a soon-to-be household name early in the season, Iverson went on to become the second youngest player to reach the 50- point plateau in a single game in NBA history. The points were continually racking up for the 76 ers in the 1997-1998 season due, in part, to Iverson's game strategies. In 1998-1999 , Allen Iverson was named to the All-NBA First Team and continued scoring game-high points throughout the season.
During the 1999-2000 season, Allen Iverson was selected for the All- NBA Second Team and once again tied his career high 50 -points in a game against Sacramento on February 6 , 2000 . The following season, dating 2000-2001 , was one of fantastic rewards. Despite an injury that caused 11 games to be missed, Allen Iverson started in 71 games and was honored with the Maurice Podoloff Trophy as the NBA's Most Valuable Player. As the 76 ers progressed to the 2001 NBA Playoffs, Allen Iverson was there. With an average of 32.9 points per game, he continued to set records and set career-highs during the five-game series. During the 2005-2006 NBA season, Allen Iverson marked his 10 th anniversary with a league that made him famous. He is the second player in NBA history to have ever played for only one team for this length of time. The only player to have been on a team longer is Kevin Garnett of Minnesota. After starting in 72 games and averaging 33 points per game, Iverson recorded his 19 ,000th career point in a game against Washington.
As an athlete who believes in giving back to his community, Allen Iverson founded the Cross Over Foundation and hosts the annual Allen Iverson Celebrity Classic. As part of the 76ers Community Assists Program, Iverson established the 'A.I.'s Crossover Crew,' which is a ticket distribution program that allows area-youth to attend a Philadelphia Sixers home game.
Fans who would like to request a signed photo or simply send Allen Iverson their best wishes are urged to do so in care of his NBA franchise team. If you are requesting an autograph, be sure to include a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) along with your request. NBA basketball betting can make you a lot of money. NBA basketball is a game that has helped turn sports betting losers into happy sports bettors with larger bankrolls. It's really no secret to winning sports bettors-NBA basketball is the easiest game to make money at. The game itself gives sports bettors plenty of opportunity and the ability to win right up until the end. Unlike Football, Baseball and Hockey, NBA basketball does not have limited scoring. In those other games you might see a handful-or less-of scoring executions per game. If your side gets behind too much, it's over no matter how much time is left. However, in NBA basketball, your team is usually in the game until the end.
Think about it for a moment. If you were to bet a -8 point favorite in football and the game was tied with 6 minutes left and the other team had the ball, would you have a realistic shot at winning? The answer is probably not. However, let's apply the same situation to an NBA basketball game and chop 4 minutes off the clock-so there's 2 minutes left. Would you have a realistic shot at covering the 8 points? You bet! Teams must shoot the ball within 24 seconds and each made basket is worth 2 or 3 points. You would only need 3-4 baskets to make the 8 points. Granted, the other team can score too, but in the NBA, two minutes at the end of a game is an eternity when the teams are close.
Let's look at another scenario. Imagine that it's half time in Basketball and Football, it's the 5 th inning in Baseball and it's the 2nd period in hockey. Which of these four following scenarios have the best outcome?
1 . The team you bet on in Baseball is down by 6 runs.
2 . The team you bet on in Hockey is down by 3 goals.
3 . The team you bet on in Football is down by 21 points.
4 . The team you bet on in NBA Basketball is down by 22 points.
The answer, of course, is number four. Scores are hard to come by in the first three options. While comebacks happen sometimes, in the NBA, teams always go on runs. Each season is filled with games where a team was down 10 ,15 , even 20 points and came back to win. There are many other games where the underdog was down by a lot and game back to lose by just a few points. With the NBA, you are almost always in the action right up to the end of the game. Can you say that about any other sport?
Finally, let's talk about NBA basketball totals. You might find that betting the total points in a game (under or over) is your thing and you would not be alone. There is a theory out there that those who can get a feel for totals betting are among the most successful sports bettors alive. You could debate that theory, but it does point out a very important idea. Totals betting in NBA basketball is full of winning opportunity and the sports books don't set them as well as the spread. Ford wanted to set the tone for the new season, and they did just that while leading the defending Atlantic Division champions to a 106-97 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.

"T.J. Ford and Jose Calderon did great,'' Raptors coach Sam Mitchell said. "If you look at their stat line, it was unbelievable.''

Ford had 14 points and 12 assists, while Calderon had 13 points and four assists. They each had just one turnover.

"I think that's how it has to be all year,'' Ford said. "When we play well, the guys are able to get open and guys will continue to have that confidence.''

Andrea Bargnani scored 20 points, Bosh added 16, and Anthony Parker finished with 13 for the Raptors.

Andre Iguodala led the 76ers with 23 points, while Kyle Korver had 20.

The Sixers cut a 22-point, third-quarter deficit to 14 heading into the fourth quarter, then pulled to 90-89 on a running jump shot by Iguodala with 4:47 left.

Bargnani answered with a 3-pointer and was fouled by Samuel Dalembert. Bargnani made the free throw for just the 14th four-point play in franchise history. That put Toronto back up by five.

"They were an important four points,'' Bargnani said. "I received a very nice pass, I was hoping it would come to me and I was a little lucky.''

Ford drove to the basket to finish with a nifty finger roll with 1:46 left, then Jason Kapono, the former Miami Heat 3-point champion, connected on a long jumper to put Toronto up by nine.

Bosh had a decent night, despite a left knee injury that limited him to 15 minutes combined over the final two preseason games and kept him out of the previous three games completely.

The All-Star forward was 5-for-10 from the field, his alley-oop dunk from Calderon in the second quarter bringing the sellout crowd of 19,800 to its feet.

"It felt good to be back out there, but I'm not up to 30 minutes a game yet, so I just have to be patient with the whole situation,'' Bosh said.

With Bargnani leading the way, the Raptors shot 49 percent, but the Sixers outrebounded Toronto 47-35 and grabbed a couple of key boards in the final few minutes.

Dalembert finished with four points and six rebounds. The Sixers center played just one preseason game because of a stress fracture in his foot.

The Raptors led 24-22 heading to the second quarter, then used a 17-4 run to lead 58-50 at halftime.

"We put ourselves in such a hole down 22 points,'' Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks said. "Toronto is a good basketball team the way they spread the floor and kick the ball to different players.''

Bargnani had seven points in the third, including a layup with 6:04 left in the quarter that gave Toronto a 22-point lead. The Sixers outscored Toronto 12-4 to the end of the quarter, cutting the Raptors' lead to 81-67 heading into the fourth.

Notes: The Raptors handed out several awards before the game: Bosh for all-NBA second team, and Jorge Garbajosa and Bargnani as all-rookie first team. Mitchell was honored for being named Coach of the Year, and GM Bryan Colangelo as NBA executive of the year. ... A vocal group of Toronto FC fans occupied a section of the arena.

MUST SEE!!! The rumors of Allen Iverson's arrival to the Kenner Summer League were true, and by game's end, Iverson had scored 40 points. By the Sunday afternoon final, before an overflow crowd inside the gym and a crowd of those outside who could not get in, Iverson finished a combined 99 point effort in three days against some of the best collegiate talent in the city. This, of course, from a player that had not played organized basketball in over a year.A brief profile can't do justice to tell the story of one of the greatest pure athletes ever to attend Georgetown, a man without peer in his talent over two years at the collegiate level. Just a year before his Kenner debut, few would have imagined Allen Iverson ever playing college basketball.
Iverson was not only a 31 point a game guard for Bethel HS, but a football player of tremendous skill. As a quarterback and defensive back his sophomore season, he produced nearly 1,600 yards offense and 13 INT's. By his junior year, he accounted for 2,204 yards, 21 touchdowns by rush or interception, and 14 touchdown passes. In a region which has produced NFL quarterbacks such as Michael Vick and Aaron Brooks, there are those who will still say "Bubbachuck" Iverson was better than both of them. Schools such as Arkansas, Kentucky, Duke, and three dozen other top programs across two sports were vying for perhaps the greatest two-sport star the Tidewater had ever produced.
When he led Bethel to the state title, someone asked what it was like to win the title. "I'm going to get one in basketball now," which he did. In late February, 1993, en route to the state title he had promised, Iverson was one of a large group of Bethel teammates at a Hampton bowling alley when a fight broke out between students from rival schools trading racial insults. Three people were hurt in the aftermath. Despite conflicting testimony from eyewitnesses and no clear evidence linking him to the crime, Iverson was one of four black students arrested.
Racial tensions were heightened when the prosecutors passed on a misdemeanor assault charge and charged Iverson with three counts of felony "maiming by mob", which carried a 20 year prison sentence. Despite video evidence which did not place Iverson in the crowd at the time of the fight, he was convicted in a racially charged case.
The 20 year sentence was later reduced to five, and Iverson was granted clemency by Gov. Douglas Wilder three months later, sending Iverson to a detention program at an alternative high school. (The original charges were thrown out by the Virginia court of appeals in 1995.)
In the spring of 1994, with Iverson still in detention, his mother approached John Thompson with a plea to help her son get to college and start a new chapter of his life. Though Thompson had passed on a number of troubled players in the past, he offered Iverson a scholarship in April of that season, contingent upon his completion of high school and his legal release, which was granted 48 hours before his Kenner debut.
By his debut in a Georgetown uniform in November 1994, Iverson had been the subject of intense national media attention. In the Hoyas' annual exhibition with Fort Hood, Iverson scored 36 points, five assists, and three steals in 23 minutes. Local columnists were in awe.
"Hang his number up in the rafters," wrote Tom Knott of the Washington Times. "He's better than most of the point guards in the NBA right now."
"I saw Lew Alcindor, Austin Carr, Moses Malone, Alonzo Mourning, Albert King, Ralph Sampson and Patrick Ewing play in high school," said the Post's Thomas Boswell. "Now, I have two memories on my first impression top shelf. The man who became Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Allen Iverson."
Iverson opened the 1994-95 season in Memphis, TN in a 97-79 loss to defending NCAA champion Arkansas, scoring 19 points. Six days later, he scored 31 in a nationally televised game with DePaul, followed by 30 four days later against Providence, leading the team in scoring 22 times that season. His only game under double figures for the season (and his career) was a game where he played only ten minutes in a loss at Villanova, a game Georgetown coach John Thompson threatened to forfeit when a group of Villanova students paraded through the Spectrum in black and white-striped prison garb, with a sign comparing Iverson to O.J. Simpson.
"You accept certain ribbing, but there is a line," Thompson said after the game. "I can condone any Christian university sitting and watching that happen...If that happens [again], I going to walk. It that simple." Such fan behavior was not seen thereafter.
Later in the season, with President Bill Clinton in attendance, Iverson scored 26 as the Hoyas routed Villanova, 77-52. He followed it up with 21 to beat Syracuse, 28 versus St. John's, 31 in a Big East tournament opener with Miami (a game that saw Iverson outscore the entire Hurricane team at the end of the first half), and 27 versus Connecticut in the semis. In the NCAA regional, he scored 24 in the loss, but held Jeff McInnis to 1 for 8 shooting. By season's end, Allen Iverson had been named Big East Player of the Week nine times, Rookie of the Year, a second team all-conference selection, and honorable mention All-America recipient. Having led the Hoyas in points and steals en route to the school's first NCAA regional appearance since 1989, Iverson was already a star. By 1996, he would become nothing less than a sensation.
The leaser of a talented team that featured four future NBA stars, Allen Iverson dominated the 1995-96 season as no Hoya has done before or since. Adept at the crossover dribble that became his NBA trademark, lightning quick to the basket, and able to score on opponents at will, Iverson was largely unstoppable. Even more impressive was an effort to improve his shooting touch, for despite averaging 20.4 points as a freshman in 1994-95 (2nd all time for a Georgetown rookie), Iverson only shot 39 percent from the field, 23 percent from three, and 19 percent from three in Big East play. For his sophomore season, his field shooting increased to 48 percent, his three point mark to 36 percent. The results were striking.
In the pre-season NIT versus Temple, Iverson shot 50 percent for 24 points and a career high 10 rebounds. After a 23 point effort against Georgia Tech, he scored a career high 40 against Arizona, one of two 40+ point games that season. In Big East play, Iverson could ring up points with ease, such as the game where he scored 21 points in only 20 minutes against Rutgers.
In the final three months of the season, Iverson led the team in 21 of the team's 25 games: 40 against Seton Hall, 39 against St. John's, 34 against Providence. He scored 30 in a wild win over Memphis, and followed it up two nights later with 26 in an upset of #3 Connecticut. For the game, Iverson totalled 26 points, 8 steals, and 6 assists, including a soaring dunk past Ray Allen and the Huskies. It was the highest ranked team any Georgetown team had defeated since 1988. His best performance of the season might have been a 37 point, 8 rebound, and three steal effort against #6 ranked Villanova, playing only 27 minutes. The 106-68 win represents the sixth largest margin of victory and the largest margin ever by a Georgetown team against a top 10 opponent.
Iverson was capable of an off game; unfortunately, two came at particularly inopportune times for the Hoyas' hopes for a national title. Entering the 1996 Big East Final with a #1 seed on the line, Iverson shot 4 for 15 and the Hoyas lost by one, 76-75. As a result of the loss, Georgetown was seeded #2 behind top ranked UMass, and in the regional final between the two teams Iverson struggled with a 6 for 21 effort in the loss. For the season, though, his statistics were astonishing: his 926 points broke the then-record by 124 points. He set new single season marks in field goals, field goal attempts, three pointers, three point attempts, steals, minutes, and scoring average (25.0), the latter of which ranked 7th in the nation that season. The Big East's defensive player of the year, he was named a consensus All-American amidst numerous other awards.
If he could somehow have stayed four years, Iverson undoubtedly would have shredded the Georgetown record books. But whatever hopes existed for Iverson to resist the lure of the NBA were short lived, particularly with the news that one of his sisters had fallen ill. Seeing the opportunity to take care of his family's medical needs, Iverson announced for the NBA draft soon after the end of his sophomore season, becoming the first Georgetown player in the Thompson era to do so. The compact that had bound so many great Hoya players to a four year commitment--from Ewing to Williams, Mourning to Mutombo--had now been broken.
The first pick in the 1996 NBA draft, Iverson signed a $3.9 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers and a ten year, $50 million deal with Reebok. His effort on the court is well known and respected, but for all the media portrayals of Iverson as the anti-hero, an icon of a "Hip Hop Nation" that ran counter to the NBA's carefully constructed marketing image, or as a symbol of all that is allegedly wrong in professional basketball, he remains remarkably well-grounded.
From that first Kenner League game on 1994, no one has doubted it since.
The Allen Iverson years had begun.

And yo looking for da new Grand Theft Auto videogame blog. Both wins and both classics. The first game was just his 7th as a rookie. Never forget, Michael Jordan was already considered the greatest individual player with his dominant, athletic game. The last game showcases MJ finesse game. He did play as a Wizard in NY again for the last time and scored 39.
In 1982, MJ went to college at North Carolina and played in the NCAA. While he was only a freshman, Michael Jordan drained a 15-foot jump shot that won the Tar Heels the NCAA championship against Georgetown. That was the first time anyone paid attention to him. From then on, everyone knew who Michael Jordan was.
In 1984, Michael Jordan left UNC after his junior year to play in the NBA when the Chicago Bulls drafted him.
