Brown jeans, who would of thunk it?

I recently decided that whilst I loved all my current pairs of jeans, I was over always wearing the same fucking colours. Blue, black, light blue, this wash, that wash, etc, etc. I went out on a limb and bought myself a pair of dark brown Rare jeans. Not too skinny, not too distressed and not too low wasted. Not a bad purchase.

Let me tell you... The jury is still out. I know shock horror, he who always has his 2 cents on what to wear is unsure about a pair of jeans. Who wears brown jeans?! I do apparently.

So I ask you this, what do you think of brown jeans? Would you wear blacks? Or just wear them on days of blues, greys and other non threatening colours.

Five Four Clothing

Im not one to just promote a clothing label because they're nice enough to email me or even tell me that some famous jack-ass is wearing their gear. However... I recently was alerted to a US label called Four Five and I have to admit, for a casual street wear label, I'm pretty damn impressed.

Why? We'll they seem to be a bit like a G-Star, but only not with ugly logos slapped all over their gear. I have to admit, I am in love with their jackets, they're pretty damn cool. And whilst I know of many stars wearing this label, none of them are worthy of a mention except Tom Brady. Anyone that is with Bridget Moynahan and Gisele Bunchen in the same week is my kinda guy.

Spring Looks

Men's Style have been nice enough to post their view on the best looks for this coming Spring. Eastern influences, gradients and micro patterns all make an appearance. Personally I am not a fan of the gradient look, but you be the judge.

Sydney designer, Brent Wilson

It's hard being this important, so what better excuse than to fly up to Sydney for a long weekend and find some fashion gems. A gem I did find in Sydney's, The Galleries Victoria Arcade.

While I don't know a lot about Brent Wilson, I found his flag ship store and was pleasantly surprised by this winter range of men's clothing and accessories. His mod inspired designs are made for guys who appreciate well made, fitted and well priced clothing.

If you are in Sydney then I highly recommend having a look. Oh and check out the shoes, they're dope.

BMW 1 Series Coupe

BMW have a new baby. They've called it the 1-Series Coupé and it's a cute little bugger, but is it worthy of the price tag? My curiosity got the better of me so I went and took one for a drive last weekend.

In short: Goes like shit off a stick, go-kartesque handling, fits into the modest of car spaces and doesn't drink too much juice. I was impressed, however being the type of gentleman who enjoys space, I have to admit it's hard to go past a 3 series coupe for a similar price tag.

Marc Newson: Style Spotlight

Marc is one of the most accomplished and stand-out designers of his generation. From furniture, to Samsonite luggage, to G-Star clothing, Marc has designed it all. Born in Australia, before being shipping around the world, he has based himself in Tokyo, Paris and more recently London.

The list goes on of his amazing accomplishments including being appointed Creative Director of Qantas Airways and receiving countless awards. Not bad for a guy who hasn't even hit 50.

Shopping on EBay is a lot like dating, generally you're going to have a couple of bad experiences but providing you don't catch the clap on your first outing you'll do it again. FYI, I haven't met anyone who's caught the clap from an EBay purchase... yet.

Spoting Fakes
No, not those kind of fakes, rather knock off Cucci, Louis Wuiton and Dolce & Cabbana. Fake gear usually is listed quite cheap, and generally astute buys will stay clear so there will be no bids on the items. Also the location will be in Asia or cleverly disguised as bum-fuck, USA.

Your Size
Go to Saks, David Jones, Bloomingdales, Wal-Mart or wherever you buy your designer clothing from and try your size on. Know exactly what size you are in Nike, Nudie Jeans, American Appel, Ambercrombie etc. By knowing this, you're less likely to receive something in the mail which would be better suited to a midget.

Do Your Research
Seen a killer pair of shades in the shop you want to find online? Get the model number and go hunting online. You'll save a bundle of cash and time looking for them, especially in you're in Australia.

Use Auction Sniper
I found this great tool call auction sniper that's dynamite for beating dumb-asses to the punch when bidding on an item. Check it out.

Relist It!
If it's not right, relist it. Simple. Don't get shitty, just take a photo and let someone else have it. At the very least, you'll learn for next time.

Oh and pay on time, nobody likes a tight-ass.

Ladies man, philanderer, cad & bounder. Jude Law makes it look all to easy.

From the Talented Mr. Ripley to Alfie, Jude acts and behaves like a true Hollywood star who is quite comfortable using his powers for evil rather than good. When it comes to style you can't look past the guy in Alfie. There's not many men I know who can pull off wearing a pink shirt while riding a vesper and NOT get beaten up. Respect.

I did however, spot an article about him hooking up with Kimberly Stewart, he needs to try a little harder on that front. It's too bad he couldn't keep it in his pants with Sienna. Ahhh, Sienna...

Jeans vs. Women

Jeans are a lot like women.

Some are slim, some flare at the bottom, some are tight. Then occasionally you get some that put up with your shit and for some reason they're a perfect fit. You wear them (literally) all the time when they're new, over time they become a part of you and when they become uncool, you're sad to see them go.

The more I think about it, the more I can compare girls to denim.

The girlfriends who were stunning, yet amazingly fragile. I compare them to my Tsubi's which I loved but always had to be careful as they were prone to ripping and falling apart. They were skinny, cool, loving and always got comments. Definitely some great memories.

Nice girls who would make a great 'life partner' always fit into the Levi's category. You know they're well made and good for the long haul but they just don't do it for you. It's a shame...

Then there's been girls who, well.... let's just say are like your fake Bangkok Diesels. You get them home and think 'What the fuck was I thinking?!'

What you really want, what every guy wants is a pair of Nudie's. Sure, they're not as high maintenance the Tsubi's, but they're well made, fashionable and last the distance.

Brandview is a great website which allows you to find most fashion brand's online retailers. As an example, I was looking for Nudie Jeans and it just so happens there are 10 online retailers according to Brandview. Brilliant!

I think they're one step ahead of Google for finding where you can buy your favorite brand online.

In my travels, I've recently discovered the upcoming Australian label that goes by the name of Jack London. Jack London is edgy, Jack London is slim and Jack London doesn't mind getting home at 7am a little side ways.

Slim jeans, small collars, trench coats and pointy shoes, their designs are not for your investment bankers, rather young rockers who were born 30 years too late for the mod revolution.

Their flagship store is located in Melbourne, with stockists in most Australian states. While this doesnt help my international readers, hopefully they start exporting to the US and Europe soon.

Skin Care For Men

How many people enjoy hugging their luggage? Not many. Us men (yes, we're straight steak eating men) need to look after our skin so we don't turn into LV suitcases with eyes by the time we hit 40. Solariums and general cooking in the sun are usually the worst for aging your skin. Regardless you should still look after your skin.

As a guy you'll fit into one of 3 categories.

The I don't give a damn guy.
You're tuff, rough and the only thing you need in the shower is a good woman and bar of soap from the local supermarket.

The I sorta care guy.
He owns a moisturizer and a cleanser only because his ex girlfriend bought them for him in an attempt to help with his blackhead problem.

The I'm afraid of getting old guy.
Sadly, I fit in this category. I look after my skin and can actually tell if my face begins peeling off from using the wrong cleanser. Luckily I like steak.

If you have never thought of looking after your skin, go and grab yourself some products from the likes of Dermalogica, Zirh, Anthony. Trust me, you'll thank me one day.

Release date should be around Auguest 2008. Price is still TBA, but regardless it will be a good accessory to own.

If he's not being James Bond, chasing terrorists or riding polar bears, he's on the streets looking downright dapper. Daniel Craig's portrayal as the new James Bond has shot him into super stardom and rightly so, he's given the Bond franchise a much needed dose of reality. Sorry Piece, you're just not that cool anymore.

Craig has a real eye for style and recently decided to not wear the suits supplied by GQ for a photo shoot, opting for his brand new Tom Ford bespoke number. Now that's Hollywood.

He's a man's man who gets style and always looks razor sharp. Respect.

IWC Vintage Ingenieur Watch

Whilst I am more of a Breitling fan, this IWC Ingenieur revival happend to catch my eye this week. It's simple, classy and with a diameter of 44mm its pretty mofo big.

This model pays homage to the first Ingenieur with automatic movement from 1955 and in a classic black face will look good even on Quasimodo. If you're in the market for classic styled timepiece, then I definitely recommend having a look at this.

If you can't afford the real mccoy at +$5,000, you can get a plane ticket to Bangkok, grab a fakie version and have a happy ending for half the price.

Fresh Kicks: SOLEBOX X ASICS GEL LYTE III

Like purple? Solebox (Berlin) have teamed with Asics to launch a killer collaboration of the Gel Lyte III's. They feature purple/gray suede with a color sensitive upper/midsole that turns purple in the sun.

I could see myself wearing my hypercolour t-shirt, happypants and these new kicks while singing 'Ice Ice Baby'.

Mario Testino has shot for Vogue, Gucci, and Vanity Fair. Plus a celebrity list which has included many actresses such as Kim Basinger, Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, with models such as Gisele Bündchen, Elizabeth Hurley, and Kate Moss. Nice!

I've got to give props to one of his most recent publications, titled 'Let Me In'. It features some fantastic candid portraits of the worlds famous and beautiful. Whilst I was disappointed not to be featured as a double page spread in my jungle jocks, its still a great purchased for any coffee table.
