Start assignments with some curiosity about the material and a positive attitude toward learning.

2. Designate a place where you go only to study. Use proper lighting.

3. Identify your distractions. Find ways to decrease them or to postpone them until study breaks (e.g., taking the phone off the hook, turning off instant messenger).

4. Decrease noises around you while studying. If you need some background music it should be soft. Keep the TV off.

5. Use "active study" techniques: sit straight in a chair at a desk, start out with questions about the material, outline chapters, underline key phrases after reading a section, write notes in margins, ask yourself what you have learned.

6. Divide your work into smaller manageable tasks that can be completed in a short period of time.
Push yourself to complete one small task, then move on to the next task. Focus on one small task at a time.

7. Use times of peak alertness for studying difficult or less interesting topics. When you are tired or hungry concentration will be lowered.

8.When your mind starts to wander come up with some cue words to say to yourself (e.g., "Focus." "Get back on task.") to focus your concentration again.

9. Take breaks when you have completed tasks or when you feel concentration has decreased. Breaks should be approximately 10-15 minutes.

10. If you have other assignments or issues on your mind write them down on a "to do" list or take a small step to deal with them. Then get back to focusing on the task at hand.

Application Format for Obtaining Duplicate Certificate from CBSE

Guidelines and Application Format for Obtaining Various Certificates / Duplicates from CBSE

Guidelines

1.
It is said that good handwriting; neat and readable; shows your personality. Wherever you go a person with good handwriting is preferred. Good handwriting always gives an upper hand to a student, but that doesn't mean that poor handwriting always costs. Actually what matters is writing neatly, make sure that examiner understands what you have written. During paper valuation this helps you in getting complete marks.

TIPS

1. Use Black pen to write title and subtitles.
2. Give diagrams wherever necessary.
3. Wherever possible use scale for drawing.
4. Underline the key words.
5. Always start a new question on a new page.
6. If there is any mistake don't make it look shabby by scratching it many times; just put a line over it.

aieee analysis

Common 12th class syllabus for science, math across boards

Plus-two students across India could be studying the same course for science and math from the 2011-12 session. Aimed at bringing about uniformity in the syllabus and helping students prepare better for competitive exams, the Council of Boards of School education in India (COBSE) — a forum of school education boards in the country — has proposed a common course for all national and regional boards. A draft of the new syllabus will be sent to the boards by the end of December for their consideration and approval.

COBSE officials believe this will help remove the notion that some boards are geared more towards competitive exams such as IIT-JEE while others are not. The issue was discussed at a meeting of the heads of ICSE schools in Lucknow last week.

``There is a long-standing view among students that the CBSE course is better suited for entrance exams. It was felt that other than helping remove this impression, a common syllabus will lead to better assessment and ensure a level playing field for entrance exam candidates across India. If all the boards agree, the first common syllabus exam could be taken in 2012," said Jerry Arathoon, officiating chief executive, ICSE.

It will not be mandatory for schools to accept the syllabus. A majority of the boards, whose representatives were present at the meeting, agreed to adopt the common course. Regional boards, too, have agreed in principle. ``We must have a look at the syllabus first to see if it suits us. The idea has our endorsement and we believe this is a good move,'' added Arathoon.

A common syllabus, some felt, would serve no purpose. ``I believe the CBSE syllabus is comprehensive enough and there is no need to adopt a new course. If other boards like ICSE feel they have some deficiency, they can borrow ideas from us or other boards,'' said Mukta Nain, principal of Kolkata's Birla High School.

Meanwhile, the ICSE board has decided to lay more emphasis on spoken English skills. From the 2011 session, the English paper I of ICSE and ISC exams will have a listening and speaking skill component that will be assessed internally by schools. While ICSE students will take the test in Class IX, those in ISC will take it in Class XI.

``Communication skills are very important now. So, we have decided to help students develop the skill. English language teaching has always been very strong in our board. This will strengthen it further,'' said Arathoon.

From the 2011 session, English exams will have a three-hour duration instead of the present two-and-a-half. The number of textbooks, too, is being increased from two to three.

Class X ICSE students will no longer have to pass in the second language for admission to Class XI. The environmental education paper will become a part of other relevant subjects and will not be a separate paper from 2013, it has been announced.

Courtsey : TOI

CCE Syllabus for 2nd Term Exam of Class IX 2010

Examination Structure & Division of Syllabus for 2nd Term (Oct. to Mar.) Being part of the NFL has taught me that if you have the opportunity to give back to the community, you do so with integrity and compassion.

Sportsmen Lifting Academics and Sponsoring Hope (SLASH)

     * 1st Annual AD Hannaford Turkey Giveaway
* Adalius Thomas and Randy Back to School Event
* Quans Kitchen Welcome to New England

No one suffers more from poverty and poor education than today’s children. Being a father myself, I understand how much a loving nurturing childhood can make all the difference. So, I set out to create a foundation dedicated to just this purpose… enriching the lives of children. The Adalius Thomas S.L.A.S.H. In this unique journey through life, it shows all the people you will ever know, how much waste you will produce, the amount of fuel you’ll consume and how much you’ve got to pack in during your 2,475,526,000 seconds on earth.

"The Human Footprint is a National Geographic film hosted for free by Snag Films. The Human Footprint uses statistics and great visual aids to show the impact of each human on the environment. For example, did you know that it takes more than 1800 pints of crude oil to provide enough disposable diapers for one child. During the film viewers learn about how some of the conveniences of modern life impact the environment.

Applications for Education : This video could be useful for anyone that teaches environmental science. Hard work is not Enough when GOAL is BIG, Actually it needs more powerful and systematic planning and proper time management. Here is a Study Planner and solution for all your anxieties.

Key Features:

Calculate the total time for studies

Weigh your subjects

Division of days for studding each subject

Division of subject areas as per the allotment of days

Weekly plan of study

STUDY PLANNER
HOW TO STUDY
This is for all those students who are preparing for their exams and
working hard to touch the sky. Dear students! Only hard work is not enough,
the more important thing is to plan it in a systematic way. Here is a solution
for all your anxieties. This planner is focused on CBSE Boarder.
STEP-1
CALCULATE THE TOTAL TIME FOR STUDIES
Let’s see, if we calculate it from 01st October to 28th February; there are 5
months. Leave February for revision. Now you have only 4 months or almost
120 days.
TOTAL TIME: 120 DAYS
STEP-2
WEIGH YOUR SUBJECTS
It means you have to set weightage for all your subjects. For example a 10th
class CBSE student has five subjects: English, Hindi, Maths, Science and
Social Studies. He feels that Mathematics is slightly tough and demands more
practice, Science is easier but time taking, Social Studies is not the priority
and Hindi-English can be equally treated.
Now for this student, the weightage for all his 5 subjects may be as below:
Subject Weightage
English 1
Hindi 1
Social Studies 1.5
Science 2
Mathematics 2.5
Total Weightage 8
STEP-3
DIVISION OF DAYS FOR STUDDING EACH SUBJECT
Now divide 120 days into five parts (Number of subjects) as per the
weightage assigned by you.
Use this formula
Subject weightage x total days
Total weightage
Subject Weightage days allotted
for study
English 1 15 days
Hindi 1 15 days
Social Studies 1.5 22.5 days
Science 2 30 days
Mathematics 2.5 37.5 days
Total 8 120 days
STEP-4
DIVISION OF SUBJECT AREAS AS PER THE
ALLOTMENT OF DAYS
You must divide your subject areas as per the days allotted to the said subject.
For example, here 15 days are allotted to English. You can divide these days
into 4 parts as below:
SUBJECT : ENGLISH Days : 15 days
Reading (Section A) 3 days
Writing (Section B) 4 days
Grammar ( Section C) 3 days
Text Book ( Section D) 5 days
Total 15 days
This way you can plan other subjects too.
Note :
· You can make some changes to the planner as per your personal needs.
· Don’t take one subjects continuously for more than 3 days.
STEP-5
WEEKLY PLAN OF STUDY
Make Weekly Plan of study in such a manner so that all the subjects are
covered in 6 days and leave Sunday for revision of the work done during the
week.
You can make the WEEKLY PLAN OF STUDY only if you have worked out
all the steps for all your subjects.
Time allocation for weekly plan of study as per the weightage given to
different subjects in step-3:
Use this formula : Subject weightage x 6 days
Total weightage
Subject Weightage Days allotted for study Weekly plan of
study
English 1 15 days 0.75 days
Hindi 1 15 days 0.75 days
Social Studies 1.5 22.5 days 1.125 days
Science 2 30 days 1.5 days
Mathematics 2.5 37.5 days 1.875 days
Total 8 120 days 6 days
Here one example plan is given. Make necessary changes wherever required.
Week day subject to be studied
Monday English and Science
Tuesday Science and Hindi
Wednesday Social Studies and Mathematics
Thursday Hindi and English
Friday Mathematics and Social Studies
Saturday Mathematics
Sunday Revision
With best wishes

Jobs at Interpreters’ Cadre of the Ministry of External Affairs

Railway Protection Force (RPF) Recruitment of Inspector

KSDNEB Result 2010

IASE University Result 2009

Cyclotron Explained with Equations

Physics
Important Topics Physics: Cyclotron Explained with Equations

It is a device developed by Lawrence and Livingstone and is used to accelerate charged particles like protons and deuterons. This results in the production of high energy beam which is then used for artificial disintegration, etc.

It consists of two D shaped metal boxes (about 21″ in diameter) with their straight sides facing each other. There is a very small gap between these Dee’s faces across which a high potential difference (of order of 105 volts) is applied by a high frequency (10-15 mega cycles per second) oscillator. Thus an alternating electric field is established between Dee’s during one half cycle, one dee is positive and the other is negative while during the next half cycle, the other is positive and one is negative. A source of particle (heavy hydrogen for producing deutrons) is placed between the faces. The whole apparatus is placed between the pole pieces NS of a very strong magnet.

cyclotron4 Cyclotron Explained with Equations

cyclotron3 Cyclotron Explained with Equations

Suppose a deuteron is at the centre of the gap and D1 is at negative potential compared to D2 then deuterons will be accelerated by the electric field between the dees towards D1. Since magnetic field B is perpendicular to the direction of motion of deuteron, a force will act on the particle given by

F = qv x B (where v and B are vectors) = qvB

Consequently, particle moves along a circular path whose radius is given by

cyclotron 2 Cyclotron Explained with Equations

So time period and frequency is independent of speed of charge and radius of circular path. If this frequency is equal to the frequency of the oscillator then by the time particle complete half revolution the polarity of the field will change. Deuteron will again be accelerated across the gap, its velocity will increase so that now it will move in a circular path of greater radius but its frequency will not be affected and the process of acceleration continues.

The particle is thus accelerated to gain high velocity. Its kinetic energy increases and when radius of the path reaches upto the value of the radius of the dee (R), beam is deflected by a negatively charged plate. Therefore with r=R, its maximum kinetic energy will be

cyclotron Cyclotron Explained with Equations

So the necessary condition for accelerating the deuterons is-

f=fo

cyclotron5 Cyclotron Explained with Equations

where f0 is oscillator frequency. This is called resonance condition.

As velocity attained is high, we choose heavier particles e.g., protons, deuterons for acceleration in cyclotron. The reason is that at such high velocities, mass varies with velocity and f will then depend on velocity, upsetting the resonance condition. This variation in mass is more marked in the case of lighter particles. So cyclotron is suitable only for accelerating heavy particle like protons, deuterons a - particles etc.

Electrons can not be accelerated by cyclotrons because the mass of electron is very small and a small increase in energy of electron makes the electrons move with very high speed. As a result of it the electron go quickly out of step with oscillating electric field, it is for these reasons that other accelerating machines such as synchrotron, betatron (for accelerating electrons) have been developed. Cyclotron can not be used for accelerating uncharged particle like neutrons.

Cyclotron in India: Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC) is located in Calcutta, India. The Centre building itself houses a 224 cm cyclotron, was the first of its kind in India, having been operational since 1977-06-16. It provides proton, deuteron, alpha particle and heavy ion beams of various energies to other institutions.

more at http://www.icbse.com/2009/cyclotron-explained-equations/

Froth Floatation Process

In some cases for example, sulphides ores of copper, zinc and lead concentration is brought by this method. In this method advantage is taken of the referential wetting of the ore by an oil.The finely ground ore is taken in a tank containing water and 1% of pine oil or terpentine oil.

Froth Floatation

A strong current of air is blown through the suspension, producing a heavy froth or foam on the surface. The metal sulphide is wetted by the oil but the gangues is not and the sulphide-oil mixture is carried to the surface by films of oil The froth is skimmed off, the gangue settles down on the bottom or remains underneath the froth.By this floatation method it is possible to concentrate over 90% of a sulphite ore to 1/10 of its original bulk.

During the floatation process of some ores, these substances are added which activate or depress the floatation property of the minerals and thus help in the separation of minerals present in the ore. For instance, gaiena (PbS) is usually associated with sphalerite (ZnS) and pyrites (FeS2).

Concentration of galena is carried out by passing potassium ethyl xanthate (Collector) along with sodium cynamide and alkali (depressants) where by the floatation property of ZnS and FeS2 is depressed. Mainly PbS passes into the froth when air current in flown in, which is collected. After PbS is removed with the froth, same CuSO4 (activator) is added and air is blown. The floatation property of ZnS is increased which is now removed with the froth. The slurry is acidified and process is repeated when FeS2 passed into the froth and is collected.

more at http://www.icbse.com/2009/froth-floatation-process-sulphide-ores/
