Puerto Princesa Business & Pleasure

Okay finally finished the laundry! Found some time and a bit of energy to blog. I dunno why I am so lazy lately. Maybe just tired from work and all. Good thing that my cousin Chie who is here on vacation is helping me out alot with housework;).

When we arrived in Puerto Princesa, we had lots of tasks at hand that needed to be done right away. We had to pay some taxes for our property, meet up with an architect who will design our house, etc etc. Yes! We might be building our house in the Philippines soon and we are really excited with designing and planning it. Hopefully building of our house can begin early next year.

After doing business, it's time to do some exploring. These are what we found:

About 3 pieces of crabs for US$ 1.20. That's super cheap!
In some hotels - you can even buy some stuff in the market and have them cook it for you with a nominal fee. Do ask them first.

We had lots of business matters that had to be done in a very short period of time we have available...so you can imagine how much stress it brought me. So, what's a girl to do when she's stressed? Get a mani/pedi and throw in some foot spa too - all of that for about US$ 5. Jules also had his haircut ( with shampoo and shoulder massage )for as little as $ 1.50. Sounds too good to be true? Believe me, it is for real.

Back from Paradise

I just came back from Paradise two days ago. The two weeks we were there was well spent. We accomplished many things. For new visitors, Philippines might seem very primitive and chaotic. Well as a matter of fact,it is. But to me it is just home.

Philippines is still in the verge of developing. Lots of things still need to be upgraded and it will take a long time before it all happens. It's okay.

We arrived in the infamous NAIA airport ( I wonder when will it ever be renovated?) at late afternoon. All went well, we didn't have any trouble with the taxi this time since we took the airport taxi to the hotel and some more unusual things(for them atleast).

After we have settled and freshened up in our hotel rooms, we went for a walk towards the mall. Our guests were amazed at the things they have seen ...kids running around with very dirty clothes and begging for money, rundown buildings next to a 3 star hotel.

The next day we flew to Palawan and that is a totally different place from Manila. Palawan is clean and almost virgin. We took the afternoon flight with Cebu Pacific. The domestic airport in Palawan is under renovation so as you can see at the picture below, the arrival area is very open.

Everytime I come back to Palawan, it seems like a new exploration to me. We spend almost a week in Puerto Princesa doing business and pleasure at the same time.

I'll tell you more about it on my next post...for now I need to wash two weeks worth of laundry :(

Farewell ?

Hi guys. Farewell- no such thing. I am just taking a 2 week holiday to the beautiful island of Palawan. I hope to get back totally rejuvenated and relaxed. I have been in a roller coaster of emotions lately ... I guess a vacation to our future hometown is just what I needed. No internet and no cable. Just pure nature and relaxation.

Being unplugged for awhile does wonders - it somehow clears up your head and re energize you at the same time and that is just what I plan to achieve in this trip.

Anyway, there is an island 30 minute away from where we are staying which houses a Tortoise sanctuary. It's called Arena Island. I have been there before but I would probably go there again and show to our guests the island an its beauty .

You can already clearly see the corals from the boat. Amazing sight!

I heard that Angel Locsin ( Filipina Actress) has spent a couple of days there too... maybe I'll bump into her one of these days?;)

To get there we needed to find and hire a fishermen's boat to bring us - this is a private island so there are no boat traffic going back and forth.

The Executive Home Manager

As the Executive Home Manager – one of my job specifications is taking care of the house. That means keeping it clean and in order. To be honest with you, I am not so good at it. I am not like Bree of Desperate Housewives who is so good in housekeeping. I wish I was but I don’t think there is such a woman like her or is there?

I do try my best but it seems like work around here would never end. I do one part of the house like the living room and then go on to the next room but before I know it, the living room is again full with dust.

If I win a million on the lottery, I might get a maid or two. That would be so nice....right ladies?

But for now I need to get things done fast as I can so I can have some me- time too. For now I try to trick my brother who is here on vacation to do some chores for me. Evil huh? He he he! That’s the great thing of being an elder sister.

Oh I have seen this Dirt Devil vacuum and I am thinking of getting one these babies. They say that the new AccuCharge Stick Vac and Hand Vac uses 70% less energy. That is great!

Saving energy is always good and being cordless means that I wouldn’t have to take the plug out and then plug it in again to my next cleaning area. Ohhh my! That takes up so much time. So I think I might really ask my dear hubby to get me one of this …maybe I can still be almost like Bree if I get this Dirt Devil Energy Star ;)

Being a Tourist Guide

Hi guys and gals! Sorry if I haven't been around to return comments drops and visits from you. As some of you know, I am pretty busy right now with three guest in the house. Jules and I try to show them must see places and must eat foods in Singapore.

My husband (in blue) arrived with his daughter and mom last week. He missed our favorite dish Laksa while in Europe for two weeks so we brought our guests to the East Coast Lagoon Food Village so that they can have a taste of this wonderful dish as well. They loved it too. My MIL was born in Indonesia so she knew this dish too and eating Laksa had has brought back some memories.

I am a wannabe-mom. I have been preparing myself for awhile now. I try to read and gather as much information I can get. Just the other day, I dragged my brother to a Motherhood exhibition (you can imagine how not-interesting it has been for him). I am in the process of making a list of things that I would be needing. I have seen lots of products like nursing blouses, baby slings but did not see much of stroller models.

My Favorite Dad Blogger

My girl Dette over at Dance of Motherhood is holding a contest on her blog asking bloggers to write about their favorite Dad bloggers as tribute for Father’s Day. This is such a great idea!!!One dad blogger that immediately came into my mind is Chris of Watdawat.

Chris is a family man, a High School Administrator and a College Instructor. He is my favorite Dad blogger because he is funny but very smart too. I have learned so many things about parenting and life just by reading his blog. He is a very positive person. He also has a great way in answering questions from his very intelligent kids. I especially enjoyed the car chronicles- where he and his kids have this interesting conversations. Check it out here and see for yourself what I mean.

From what I read, he is a happy man and I do admire that. Happy Father's Day Chris!

I'd like to wish my Papa a Happy Father's day too. Even if he is not around anymore I still want him to know that I love him and I always think of him wherever I am, wherever he is. We will see each other in time.

* I always love to shop when everything is on sale even if it meant hard work to get the prettiest stuff for the best price. Some people call me frugal but I am just practical. Why waste money on full price when you can get the same item for a fraction of the price if you just wait a few months.

* I love taking photos of exotic animals.
