She had bought a few Singstar games for the PS2 over the Christmas and wanted to have a laugh. Now I know I'm not the best singer (which the game went on to prove) but we all had a great night. Guess not been able to sing made all the more fun. I did get better though as the night went on.

Our night was interrupted at about 1am thanks to an earthquake. Living in England, an earthquake is not something you expect on a regular basis. It was kind of exciting and shook the house quite a bit. Apparently from reading the news today, it was 5.2 on the Richter Scale and was felt in most of England. Apparently here in Manchester they are quite frequent, although not as strong. I just hope it wasn't my singing which caused it!!

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-50548285956639469922008-02-16T11:24:00.004Z2008-02-16T11:27:26.182ZGirls Aloud - Can't Speak French

My favourite track of their album 'Tangled Up'. Can't wait to get back into it. Thought I'd do a little Lost trivia in the run up to the start of the season.

- Parts of the plane were used as percussion instruments and can be heard in the soundtrack.

- The Airline in this show that flew the ill-fated flight is called "Oceanic" this Airline name has been used before in Executive Decision (1996), and has also been used in many other made-for-TV movies.

- 'Yoon-jin Kim' (Sun) originally read for the character of Kate. The producers felt she was not what they were looking for but decided to create a new character for her along with her character's spouse.

- 'Jorge Garcia' (Hurley) was the first person cast for the series.

- Originally, Michael Emerson was only cast for a few episodes in season two. The producers were so impressed with his performance that they cast him as a regular and rewrote the part of Henry Gale/Ben to feature him more prominently.

- Charlie was in a band called Drive Shaft. Their only hit was called "You All Everybody". That song can be heard in the background of an episode of Alias, another show created by JJ Abrams.

- Jorge Garcia, Matthew Fox, and Dominic Monaghan all auditioned originally for the part of Sawyer as the other characters had not been developed at the time.

- Each episode -- other than the pilot -- covers 48 hours on the island.

- Originally, Libby was not set to die, but Ana Lucia Cortez was not a popular enough character to garner sympathy from fans, so Libby was killed as well for emotional impact.

- Michael Keaton was considered for the part of Jack, but turned it down. Had he accepted, he would have been killed off in the pilot episode.

Bring on season 4!!

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-64847369538138464982008-01-26T12:14:00.000Z2008-01-26T12:17:11.512ZI've Arrived!Just a quick post to say I arrived in Newcastle yesterday afternoon. Not half as bad as I thought it would be. The flooding subsided so the train was able to make it through in one journey. The weather is wild though! It's SO windy up here. I'm glad I didn't drive! The A1/M1 was blocked off due to lorries overturning - oops!

Anyway, off out for the afternoon with the family. We're gonna try and find a pub to have something to eat at - I'm starving!!

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-34509050090105055922008-01-23T00:48:00.001Z2008-01-23T00:56:14.634ZQuick UpdateWell, I knew I said I wasn't going to post until I had been to Newcastle, but seeing as we've had quite bad weather here in northern England, it's looking like it could be an adventure getting there. I get the train when I go back to Newcastle - simply because it's cheaper than driving and the journey ain't too bad. The problem at the moment is the trains are only running as far as Huddersfield. There's a bus replacement between Huddersfield and Leeds but you can never trust them. The ticket I have can be cancelled up until 6pm on the day before travel, so Ill give it till then and ring on Thursday afternoon for an update. If I have to cancel, I suppose I can always drive - that's if the motorways are OK - hehe.

In other news, I got the result for my latest module at university - 68%. I surprised myself. I wasn't expecting to get that high! One module and a dissertation to go and I'm done - woo!

Me and a mate went to see 'Sweeney Todd' at the weekend. I loved it - thought it was fantastic! Hoping to go and see it again next week when it's out officially. It was more of a musical than I thought. Johnny Depp was pretty cool. I loved Helena Bonham Carter's character! Wouldn't mind seeing the stage show now!

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-34201544604782231282008-01-17T13:30:00.001Z2008-01-17T13:38:45.875ZJuly 24th, 2004 - January 16th, 2008Today should have been my 500th post and I was looking to do something special. Hope you all had a good Christmas. Mine was nice. Spent the day with Alan's family. We're both driving up to Newcastle later today to spend a few days with my family. I haven't been back home for a few months, so I'm looking forward to it. It'll be like a second Christmas for me. At the moment I have a Creative Zen player, but the main downside to that at the moment is that it's not compatible with my Mac. I can, however just use the PC to update it so it's not a major problem. The thing that made me really want one was having a play around with my mates at work a couple of weeks ago. I've also had a play around with one a few times in the Apple shop and think they are great. Does anyone else have one? I need convincing to definitely go for one!

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-55438784139003175022007-11-21T01:17:00.000Z2007-11-21T01:30:41.105ZYahoo MessengerWhen I first started using the internet way way ago - remember Lou? - I used Yahoo Messenger. Simply because most of the forums and groups I signed up to were on Yahoo. Back in the day when Yahoo was great! I stopped using it a while back as most of my contacts transferred over to MSN Messenger. I liked MSN Messenger, but when I got my MacBook in May, the version of MSN for the Mac was pretty basic. I lost a few of the functions. I was chatting to a mate a few nights ago on MSN and he told me the Yahoo Messenger for Mac is much better. It has all the functions of the MSN for PC.

I downloaded it and gave it a go. I have to say I'm pretty impressed. It takes me back to the good old days of Yahoo. I came across a clip of her on YouTube a few months ago (below) and more recently have bought the DVD 'Pam Ann - Come Fly With Me'. I haven't laughed as much in ages. Her mix of humour and her sharp tongue are great. I've got row D, which in her terms in in the business class section. Can't wait to see her. However, with being busy at work and not really having time to go to the supermarket I decided to give it a go and see for myself. I did a brief search to find out which supermarkets deliver to my address. I wasn't impressed that Tesco only offered the service.

I then came across an online only supermarket called Ocado. It's attached to the Waitrose company and reading some reviews no-one had any problems with it. So I gave it a go. The website was very easy to navigate round, I managed to do my weekly shop in about 10 minutes and it also was about £10-£15 cheaper than if I was to actually go to the supermarket. I'm not saying the products were cheaper, but I guess there's no temptation to buy stuff you wouldn't normally get.

I checked out and booked an delivery time of between 9pm-10pm last night. I was a bit worried that they would make me go down to the lobby part of my apartment block to collect it. Previous experience of deliveries have made me do this - especially Ikea - b*stards! Anyway, they guy rang my buzzer and came up in the lift and delivered it right to the door. I'm sure he would have actually brought it into my kitchen too! The good news is that if the products are unavailable, it told me on the website and asked if I wanted to make a substitution there and then. It wasn't until I had unpacked all of the shopping and I realised it was only 8.45pm!

I was very impressed. Doubt I'll go to a supermarket again!

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-21329410213332210612007-10-30T08:17:00.000Z2007-10-30T08:24:52.859ZBack To Normality! After a few days off, I'm back on to day shifts today - thank God! My sleep pattern has been so messed up. As well as having to get back into a normal sleep pattern, I also had the fact that the clocks went back an hour on Saturday, which didn't really help things! Anyway, I think I'm just about back into a normal pattern. Let's hope so anyway.

Sunday and Monday were the worst. I found myself waking nice and early on Sunday morning, only to fall back asleep and wake up at 5pm on Sunday evening! Needless to say I was awake all night and found myself awake until about 2pm on Monday afternoon - crazy!! If I'm wide awake too, I can't lie in bed hoping that I'll drift off. As a result I found myself cleaning at ridiculous times in the morning!

I was also messing around on the computer. Many of you know I love the music of the band Texas. It's been a while since they have released anything, but when they last released an album, one if the tracks was called Getaway. On the b-side to this single was a cool acoustic version. I edited the video for the original video to fit around the acoustic version. It took me a few hours - only to find someone had beat me to it - D'oh! Ah well, it kept me amused. You can see the result below.....

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-61490039731197668182007-10-24T07:19:00.000+01:002007-10-24T07:25:32.216+01:00Almost Over! Two more night shifts to go at work and I'm all done on nights until February! Saying that, they haven't been a bad set of nights. Lets hope the remaining ones are the same! I had to go to uni last night, so it meant only 2 hours sleep for me yesterday morning when I finished. Needless to say I was pretty wrecked last night and eventually fell asleep at 2300. I've been awake since 0600 this morning. I'm hoping I'll feel a little bit tired in a couple fo hours or so. I'll definitley be needing more sleep today if I'm wanting to get through tonight!

In other things, I came across this video last night. It's for Melanie C's new track "This Time'. Could it be her last solo track?? It's out now, so like the other 2 sigles she's released, it'll probably go un-noticed! I think it's a pretty cool track :)

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-6513771807470189162007-10-15T15:44:00.000+01:002007-10-15T15:49:00.993+01:00Night ShiftsMeh - It's my turn on the rota at work to be on nights for 2 weeks. I normally like to work Monday to Thursday, but because I'm at uni on a Tuesday now they are all split. Hopefully nights won't be too busy. I was working last night and it was a pretty nice shift. Next week I've asked for the weekend off. It's one thing doing night shift, but working it when the clocks go back?? Do I look that stupid??!!

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-60163396534855864552007-10-07T17:43:00.000+01:002007-10-07T17:47:54.087+01:00Modern Technology!I took myself into town today because I needed to upgrade some software on my mac. I went to the Apple shop in Manchester and got what I needed and went to the check out to pay. When I got there I thought that it was odd just to have one till. It wasn't until I had been standing there for about 5 mins that a girl came over to me and asked if she could take my items. I then noticed that all the staff in the Apple shop had their own scanners and chip and pin systems attached to them and she scanned my item and I paid by card while still waiting in the queue! What really shocked me was that I didn't get a reciept, she took my email address and it was waiting in my inbox when I got home! I was well impressed!!

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-12484131727879142942007-10-04T22:19:00.000+01:002007-10-04T22:24:50.697+01:00Update On Things! It's been a week or so since I last update, so I just thought I'd do a quick one! Since my last post, I went back up to Newcastle to see some family for a few days. It was good to catch up. Was also my dads birthday so we all went out for a meal. Newcastle changes everytime I go back. It's quite scary really.

I've also started back up at uni again. The module that I am doing this time it all about ethics. Sounds like it's going to be quite difficult, but interesting at the same time. I only have one more module to do and then my dissertation. Soon, it'll all be over!! Well, July 2009 it'll all be over!

I've spent most of the day today in bed. I was out for my mates 25th birthday last night and was a little worse for wear this morning. It's been the first time in a long time that I've woken up with a hangover. My mate introduced me to Morgans Spiced. I think I have found my new best drink!! We were out of it before we got in the taxi to go into town!!

I've got a nice few days off work at the moment. I go onto night shift for a couple of weeks soon!! :( Luckily, I'm not doing nights the weekend the clocks go back!!

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-57279726728279534552007-09-25T14:58:00.000+01:002007-09-25T15:09:23.078+01:00Texas: The BBC Sessions

For as long as I've liked Texas, I've always wanted them to release an acoustic album. I got their BBC Sessions today which is a 2CD set with all of their live BBC sets from 1989 - 2003. It's FAB! There are a few tracks on there that I hadn't even heard of! Sharleen's voice is so suited for live music - probably why she's so damn good when I've saw them in concert.

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-54908191161261975862007-09-24T12:29:00.001+01:002007-09-24T12:35:16.677+01:00Birthday Meh-ness!So it was my birthday on Saturday and I edge another year closer to the big 3-0 (not that I'm dreading it of course). I had quite a good weekend. On Friday me and Alan went out for a meal. It was really nice. Was all sea food based now I lok back on it. Quite a nice restaurant - Relish in the Great Northern Complex if anyone's interested.

Then on Saturday me and a mate went out for drinks. You know the usual night, '"Oh, we'll only have a few, nothing too heavy". Well, we didn't drag ourselves out of the club until 5.30am! Was a really good night. I enjoyed myself. I didn't get to sleep until 1pm on Sunday and even than I oly had an hours or so sleep. Needless to say last night I was shattered and slept from 7pm until about an hour ago! My head should be back in synch soon!! Thanks for all the birthday wishes to everyone - it was nice :)

In other news, I start back at university on Tuesday. I'm then heading up to Newcastle on Wednesday for a few days. Should be fun, looking forward to it. My dad has moved house since and I've yet to see it. I think I'm gonna go and get a strong coffee!!

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-51006915640273296402007-08-31T23:56:00.000+01:002007-09-01T00:06:05.425+01:00Manchester PrideIt's been way to long! I hadn't actually realised it's been almost two weeks since I last added an entry! The main reason is mainly down to being too busy with work. I was going to try and do a post lst weekend. We had a couple of mates over from Leeds for Manchester Pride. It was a great weekend, lots of drinking! A few people I spoke to at work don't do the whole Manchester Pride thing. Listening to their argument I can understand why. Basically, for those who don't know, Canal Street is the main 'gay village' in Manchester. During the Pride weekend the whole thing is cordoned off and the only way you can get in in by buying a wristband which sets you back £10-£18 depending on when you buy it.

There isn't a great difference to Canal Street as opposed to any other night. Fair enough there's a main stage with bands and stuff, but generally you just end up doing what you would do any other night - drinking a pint on the street by the canal. The also have the big parade through Manchester City Centre - and that's free anyway. The bars also tend to bump the prices up and a lot of them tend to stick on an admission fee - or donation to charity as they call it. So my mates argument was that you end up paying about 3 times as much as you would normally do if you were to go out on a normal night out. Fair enough I guess, but I had a cool weekend. It was my 4th Pride this year - I think they are fun!

I've uploaded a few pictures to my Flickr account if you want to have a look :)

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-65088210142568211.post-38865292692418305032007-08-16T01:49:00.000+01:002007-08-16T01:52:54.979+01:00Natalie Imbruglia - Glorious

Glad she's back - I do like Natalie Imbruglia! Something about her music that I like. It makes good driving music too. This single is released in the next couple of weeks with a singles collection to follow in September. Looking forward to her new album next year!

Malcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16950709046054438394noreply@blogger.com3
