GLOBALJust briefly to remind you all that we will be holding our first Sing! Global Singing Day at The Watershed, Bridge Street, Slaithwaite on Sunday 22nd April 10.15-3.30. It's going to be good as we will really be able to get our teeth into some of the songs and have a bit of fun too! I'll post up more details of songs later in the week.

Satellite Artshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05092986320213387668noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-647276305554031302.post-66380513548896383752007-04-12T18:21:00.000Z2007-04-12T18:41:45.489ZGill's DiaryWell it's been a week or so, but I have been poorly, so there's my excuse. We've been busy though.

The Magic Postman has been performing Music and Magic for Sure Start events in Manchester. Andy's pleased to have introduced one of his new tricks acquired at the wonderful Blackpool Magic Convention.

Xylosound have been in performance at Salendine Nook to a packed audience at the Baptist Church.

Karima and I have submitted an application for the Moonraking Festival to the Big Lottery Family Learning Fund. It was quite a task and we we're relieved to finally get it in.

Andy, Lawrie and I went over to see More Music in Morecambe's piece 'The Long Walk' a response in music to the death of the Chinese cockle pickers on the sands of the bay. It was a very impressive, multi-layered piece of work with lots of multi-generational community involvement and collaboration with Chinese musicians. Lots to savour. I believe they plan to develop the work in other places too.

We are busy in The Watershed with paint brushes and rollers putting the finishing touches to the admin suite and the new community meeting room. A mass session on Friday really broke the back of the job, many thanks to all who helped.

Finally on a musical note the Moonraker Band played for a delightful Octaganarian Party of much loved local teacher and singer Janey Sykes, it was a joy and tonight I'm off to see Noah and Ruby perform with Gary Bamforth and Amanda Huxtable in support (Andy's playing on a few numbers too!)

Satellite Artshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05092986320213387668noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-647276305554031302.post-15774026554808283702007-03-19T20:59:00.000Z2007-03-19T21:21:42.836ZSING! GLOBAL NEWSSING!GLOBAL session this week really got to grips with Kancho, a song from Ghana collected by Pauline Downs. As the choir gets gets more secure with the words and harmonies the spirit of the song starts to shine through. We'll add percussion next week to make it swing. If you own some claves or a wood block bring 'em in.

Next week we're going Jamaican. Don't forget to add your favourite Bob Marley song to the blog.
Will we be JAMMIN'? Last night we had a Burton-Bond family trip to Salsaceltica gig in Saltaire - a fanatastic fusion of sounds you can't help but dance, very inspiring. It set us up nicely for the week ahead.

Thankyou to all those people browsing the site and emailing your comments. It's great to hear that everyone so far likes what they are seeing and reading and feel that it reflects Satellite Arts well. Why don't you have a go at adding comments on the blog.

Up and coming this week is :
Andy and Eddie being recorded by Conrad Lambert playing fiddle duet of Westmorland Waltz for his up and coming Merz CD. (Shades of Ry Cooder in Cuba me thinks!)

Me and Karima working hard trying to get our major funding bid to the Family Learning Fund for Moonraking Festival 2008 in the post by the end of the week.

We are having a big marketing push on Tale Traders, so book asap to avoid diappointment! Also have another website session with Tim, so watch this space!

Andy is devising new stories for the Magic Postman Show that is going out to Salford and on Friday Xylosound will be putting finishing touches to their programme for their gig at Salendine Nook on March 31st

Satellite Artshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05092986320213387668noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-647276305554031302.post-54697568444754850062007-03-14T19:46:00.000Z2007-03-14T19:59:31.783ZGill's Diary.
We've had a very intense afternoon working with the wonderful Tim Copsey from MPTE Design to put our website live to the world, and we're dead chuffed with it. It's wonderful that at last we have captured the range of work that we do and can display it in a way that reflects our ethos. We've just got to get it out there now. Anyway if you are looking at this having taken a tour of the site please post up your comments. We are really keen to get opinions on what you think and whether you think it 'works' on all levels!

Satellite Artshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05092986320213387668noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-647276305554031302.post-40037350416459773512007-03-14T16:05:00.000Z2007-03-14T16:38:39.379ZHELLO FROM ANDY AND GILL
WELCOME TO OUR NEW BLOG SOON TO BE POSTED WITH LATEST NEWS!

Satellite Artshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05092986320213387668noreply@blogger.com0
