CD Sunday Spot - Joanna Sheen Victorian Christmas!

Time for a CD Spot again - this week I have used one of the first CD's I ever bought - Joanna Sheen's Victorian Christmas CD. I think this is discontinued now but you still see it coming up on E Bay from time to time!

Patterned papers are also from the CD - image is mounted with 3D foam pads over a card base decorated with the papers. Embellished with satin ribbon, card candy and gems.

Teenage Girl Card

A card for a couple of challenges today - the Mo Manning Challenge which was a recipe - three patterned papers, two ribbons and one decorative edge. The second challenge is the Cute Card Thursday Challenge - 'Teen Terrors'!

My image called Video Girl from Mo Manning and she is coloured with ProMarkers and mounted onto a background of Kay & Co Papers. There are two ribbons but the pink is obliterated by the green double bow in the photo! The decorative edge is the Martha Stewart doily punch. Embellished with card candy, satin ribbons, flowers and a gem.

Digi Day Plus An ATC!

My cards today cover a couple of the Digi Challenges. This first one was made for the Dare U 2 Digi Stamp Challenge of 'Glitter'. My image is one from Sandra Dry Digi Stamps and is coloured with ProMarkers. I have used gold stickles glue to embellish her dress, bangles and the edge of the topper. She is mounted over a background of shiny metallic card and paper and embellished with gold card candy plus organza ribbon with a glittery thread running through it.

This second card was made for Crafty Ann's Challenge Blog - this week we had a colour challenge of Black & White Plus One! I made this side stepper card and used red as my plus one. The image is one of Crafty Ann's Digi Images and a little colour was added with a Lipstick Red ProMarker. Mounted 3D over a Cuttlebug embossed background and embellished with black pearls, red gems and red satin ribbon.

Finally I share an ATC for the Think Monday Think ATC Challenge of Black, White & Red using stamps from PaperArtsy.

Technique Thursday Spot - Faux Linen!

The Technique Thursday Spot this week is another 'Faux' technique. Today I have covered Faux Linen. This is also my card for the Colour Create Challenge which is Green, Red and White this week, with the optional extra of 'Christmas'.

Materials needed are glossy card stock, course sand paper, stamps of your choice, dye ink pads and sponges or cotton wool balls.

Randomly stamp the image/tect of your choice over your glossy card stock, stamping off the edges on all sides.

Allow the ink to dry and then using a piece of course sand paper sand your piece from left to right only, in straight sweeping movements. Turn your piece of card 90 degrees and once again sand from left to right only. You should now have a cross hatch pattern showing on the glossy card stock, and most, if not all of the gloss has been removed.

Dust your piece of card stock with a soft cloth and remove all the dust particles. Using sponges or cotton balls add a lighter colour dye ink to the card stock. The cross hatch pattern is now more prominent giving the appearance of Linen. Finish your card as desired - I have cut mine into squares and I have distressed the edges with a darker ink before assembling my card.

An Oriental Weeping Willow.

Back to an Oriental card today made with the fabulous Weeping Willow stamp by Judikins.

One of my favourite colour combos is red, white and black. The background piece is stamped with a Judikins cube in Versamark and clear embossed. I have used the little chop stamp to make a border with one of them raised and mounted 3D for added interest. The weeping willow is simply stamped in black Versafine and I have embellished my card with gems, a coin, a brad and a tassel.

My Time To Craft - Umbrella!

My card today is for the My Time To Craft Umbrella Challenge! Very appropriate with the weather we have been having of late!

I have used Judikins stamps for my card and coloured the images with ProMarkers. Layered 3D onto Nestability shapes over patterned paper and embellished with flowers and satin ribbon.

Cute Daisy May - Texture!

Today's share is my card for the Cute Daisy May Challenge this week - Texture! I have used this gorgeous bridal image available from the CDM Digi Image Shop.

The image is lightly coloured with ProMarkers and lightly glittered. She is mounted 3D onto layered Nestability die cut shapes, over a background of DCWV patterned paper. Embellished with a peel off, gems, satin ribbon, fabric flowers and die cut leaves.

CD Sunday Spot - Crafter's Companion Flower Fairies Friends!

For the CD Sunday Spot this week, I have used the Crafter's Companion Flower Fairies Friends CD!

I have made a decoupaged card using the Christmas Tree Fairy. I love the Flower Fairy images and this CD featuring the Christmas Tree Fairy and the Holly Fairy was a must for my Christmas cards this year.

I have decoupaged her up to three layers and added some glitter to her dress and the star on her head. Mounted over a background of matching patterned paper and some card that I trimmed with the Martha Stewart Snowflake border punch. Embellished with satin ribbon.

ATC Play!

I thought I would have a bit of a light hearted play today and fit in a couple of challenges I haven't managed to do for some time.

This first ATC is for the Thank God It's Firday Challenge of 'Strongmen'! I have used a Fair/Circus background from the Sketching Stamper and the weight lifter is from a site with free colouring pages etc called TimTim. The background and the image are coloured with ProMarkers.

This is for a couple of challenges - the Think Monday Think ATC Challenge this week was 'Fruit' and the Joanna Sheen Forum Challenge for November is to use a magazine on your work in some way. I have used a page from a magazine as my background. The apple doctor is from a clip art CD.

Today's card is made for Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge - this week a great sketch to follow.

My card uses the Mo Manning 'Saturday's Child' digi stamp and is coloured with ProMarkers. Simply mounted onto a background of patterned papers and embellished with a Sizzix flourish, pearls, flowers and die cut leaves.

Technique Thursday Spot - Retiform/Grid Technique!

Thursday means that I cover a technique in stages - this week I have chosen to work with the Retiform/Grid Technique. I have seen this technique referred to as either, or.

You will need a main image for your card and some smaller stamps for the sectioned background. You will also need a piece of white card, dye inks, ruler, cotton ball or foam applicator, black marker pen and a chosen colouring medium.

To begin, stamp your focal image in the centre of your card stock. Using pieces of copier paper, mask off sections around this image and sponge dye inks onto the separate masked off areas.

Move around your image, masking the areas off with copier paper and changing the colour or tone of your inks in each section.

This is my image with all sectioned off areas coloured using different shades of green dye inks.

Placing the paper masks back over the individual areas begin stamping different images in each section - this is my first section being stamped.

Here I have masked off the second area and stamped using a different text stamp. Continue moving around your sectioned areas using a different image/text stamp in each one.

Once all sectioned areas have been stamped I usually like to add a dark grid line to each section using a black marker pen and a ruler - this is a personal choice and is entirely up to you.

I then colour my focal image - on this occasion I have use ProMarkers to colour my image.

I then like to add a darker definitive finish to all the edges of the sectioned off pieces using either ink pads or chalks. You can also bring this into the centre piece or add a bit of interest to the image by dotting a pen lightly in places. You can now finish your card as desired.

The Tanda Teaser this week is a colour challenge of Lilac & Lemon! For my card I have used an image from TandaStamps Teddy Bears Set 1. You can use any images and stash to join in with the Teaser so hope to see you there!

The Teddy is coloured with ProMarkers and mounted 3D over Nesties, patterned paper and cuttlebug embossed card. Embellished with satin ribbon and pearls.

MTTC - Tags So Much!

The Daisy May Design Challenge this week is called 'Wild Thing'! For my card I have used this fab Hippo image on my new baby card. Coloured with ProMarkers and layered onto Cuttlebug embossed card and patterned paper. Embellished with satin ribbon and card candy.
The challenge is an easy going and fun challenge with no restrictions on what is used - hope to see you there!

This is also my card for the Colour Create Challenge which was Blue, Silver and White.

CD Sunday - Joanna Sheen Royal Horticultural Soceity CD

For the CD Sunday Spot this week I have used the new Joanna Sheen Royal Horticultural Society CD. There are some gorgeous images on this triple CD set.

I wanted a Poppy card today so I have printed some toppers and a sheet of backing paper from the CD, layering them up onto Green, Red and White card. Embellished with pearls and satin ribbon and a text greeting.

A 1st Birthday Card

This 1st Birthday card covers a couple of challenges. The first one is Mo Manning's DP2 Challenge 'All that Glitters' - to add three different sparkly elements to your card. I have added glitter glue to the torn edge and the hose, have four sparkly red gems in the corners and have a sparkly metallic number one on the card. This is also my card for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge to sue Primary colours on your card.

The image is one of Mo Manning's - Playing Firefighter. The image is coloured with ProMarkers and mounted onto various layers of card and patterned paper. Embellished with gems and satin ribbon.

A Couple Of Digi Challenges!

Two Christmas cards to share today - the first one is for the Dare U 2 Digi Stamp Challenge which is a fab sketch from Larissa to follow.

I have used a digi stamp from Sandra Dry Digi Stamps called Holly - she is coloured with ProMarkers and mounted 3D over a background of patterned paper from Papermania and embossed squares. Embellished with card candy and satin ribbon bows.

I am a real fan of Sandra's digi stamps and her own work. Check the links out for some real loveliness!

The second card is for a brand new challenge at Crafty Ann's Challenge Blog - the first challenge to kick things off is called 'Celebration'. Ann is a friend of mine and I am very excited about her new venture and wish her all the best with it.

I have used one of Ann's digi frame stamps to make this Christmas card. I have printed it out several times onto card and patterned paper. I have then paper pieced the frame and coloured the holly with ProMarkers. The holly is decoupaged up a couple of layers. The frames is also mounted with 3D foam pads over a stamped Judikins greeting. Embellished with a satin ribbon bow. The beautiful green backing paper is also one of Ann'es digital downloads.

Both challenges are fortnightly so plenty of time to have a go!!

Technique Thursday Spot - Salted Backgrounds

The technique I have covered today is a nice messy one! I love the effect of salted backgrounds so I searched out my Ecoline Inks and had a play. I have also tried out a couple of new stamp sets from TandaStamps - Garden Elements and the Village Set.

Ecoline Inks are liquid watercolours and are so useful and relatively inexpensive to have in your stash.

You need ink or water colour paint of your choice, card stock - I use a heavy one for best results, paint brush, sponge stippler, water and scrap paper to protect your work space area.

You first need to paint your piece of card generously with just water and then very quickly brush your inks/paint onto the card, stippling with the foam brush to help the different colours blend.

Whilst still wet add the salt - this can be the rock salt or simply table salt depending on what background effect you are trying to achieve. I have used table salt on this piece as I wanted the light salt and pepper type of look.

You then set aside and leave to dry naturally. This is a closer view of the piece as it dries.

Once dry you brush the salt off with a stiff brush and this is what you are left with. If your card has wrinkled you can flatten it out under a heavy book or use a craft iron and press it. Use your backgrounds as desired. I usually have a session and make up a few in different colour combos and pop them into my bit box.

Tanda Teaser - Metallize!

The Tanda Teaser today is called 'Metalize'! I have used a TandaStamp Art Nouveau Rose image fo my card . The background piece has the image stamped in Versamark and embossed with metallic gold fine detail embossing powder. The main topper has been made using Metallic Gold UTEE, stamping directly into the UTEE whilst still warm. Embellished with metallic ribbon and puched corners.

My Time To Craft - So Many Scallops!

For my card I have used a Hampton Arts stamp called 'Pleasant Delights'. I have added colour to the image with distress inks. The image is then layered up onto Nestabilities and patterned paper, with a punched scallop border trim. Embellished with gems, lace and satin ribbon.

CD Sunday Spot - Joanna Sheen Oriental Dreams!

We are back to the CD Sunday Spit again and this week I have made my card using the Joanna Sheen Oriental Dreams CD.

My style of card is called a Triple Play because you can get three of these out of one sheet of 12 x 12. The idea for this came from a Technique Junkies Newsletter.

The image and the backing paper are both from CD1 and I have stamped the backing paper with the Judikins Artifacts Cube. Embellished with a ribbon bow.

A Christmas Choir Easel Card

My second Easel Card! I will try not to go mad and make them all the time I promise! But I have to say I do like this fold of card.

I was asked for brief instructions - I am not brilliant at explaining things like this but I hope this helps, you can change the measurements to suit your project:-

I start off with an A4 sheet of card. I cut and score so that I have a 5 x 5 card base. I score the front of the card at the half way mark and mountain fold. Cut another piece of card 5" x 5" and attach this piece to the bottom half of the scored card front only. The front will stand proud when the base card folds up. Attach a button, brad or flower to the card base floor to act as a prop for the easel.

This time I have made a Christmas card that is good for two challenges. The Colour Create Challenge of 'All White' - cheating unashamedly using as much white on my card as possible but the colour sort of stretched out from the image! It is also another for the DP2 Challenge to use a 'fancy fold'!

The Choir is a Mo Manning digital stamp and has been coloured with ProMarkers. Embellished with ribbon, glittered die cut snowflakes and gems.

Friday's Child Easel Card!

The challenge at Mo Manning's challenge blog this week is to make a card with a 'fancy fold'. I decided to have a go at an Easel Card and I used this wonderful Friday's Child image.

The image is coloured with ProMarkers and is mounted over card and patterned papers from K & Co. Embellished with flowers, pearls, gems, die cut leaves and satin ribbon.

Technique Thursday Spot - Nail Polish Backgrounds!

Today I am covering a technique that uses nail polish. If you are like me, you will have, at some point, bought nail polish that you haven't liked or you have lots of bottles with little bits left. This is a great technique to use them up.

You will need an old metal tray, water, nail polish and a pair of rubber gloves!

Fill the tray with water and drip some of your nail polish on top of the water - you can blow it to move it around a little.

Pop your piece of card onto the water and with your rubber gloves on, swirl it around and remove. I use both ordinary card and glossy card - it's down to the individual's choice. For this session I used glossy card stock.

Repeat the above steps with other card/nail polish. This is what some of my backgrounds looked like from this session.

Set your backgrounds aside to dry and then finish your card as desired.

I have used one of Crafty Ann's Iris images coloured with ProMarkers.
