It's the only tech industry periodical that I actually read from cover to cover. I usually start on the inside back cover, though, 'cause Spencer F. Katt is always good for a chuckle.Their e-mail newsletter subscriptions, however, are another story. I don't really want tech news in my e-mail. I use RSS feeds to go get what I want when I want it, and I Bryanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16693525146787661053noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6321775.post-1147802190825189822006-05-16T13:45:00.000-04:002006-05-16T13:56:30.836-04:00Our house is ours!We closed on our new house yesterday, so it finally belongs to us (and the bank)! We'll be moving stuff in a few boxes at a time all this week, with a final move of big furniture on Saturday. Our old (current) house is still for sale. If you are looking for a new house in Louisville, make an offer and mention this note, and we'll give you a $1000.00 discount! :-)Bryanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16693525146787661053noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6321775.post-1145837751688451272006-04-23T19:59:00.000-04:002006-04-23T20:15:51.743-04:00Wouldn't You Like to Be a Flocker, Too?Since I'm using Flock now, I realized my blog CSS style was a bit off, and I've made some changes to fix how it looks in browsers other than IE. Getting page layouts working properly across all of the browsers that claim to be "XHTML 1.1 and CSS 2 compliant" can be a real pain still, especially when you use divs instead of tables. I think this is working better, now, though. These are some of my favorites:PandoraThis site allows you to listen to streaming audio that is customized just for you. To start, you just give it a name of an artist or a song, and it then starts to play songs related to your choice. Phil Zimmermann updated his site on Saturday announcing that a public beta of his Zfone will be released "in a few days". While this really isn't something I can see myself using a lot, I definitely want to try it out. For Now...Okay, I'm satisfied with the layout and colors for now. Sypher.org will look like this... for at least another month. :)Bryanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16693525146787661053noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6321775.post-1139378518690975412006-02-08T00:46:00.000-05:002006-02-08T01:01:58.703-05:00Sypher.org Site LayoutI'm working on a new layout, if you haven't noticed. I know it's not working like it should right now. Hopefully, I'll get it working under Firefox, IE6, IE7, and Opera very soon. Once it works right in all four of those browsers, however, it'll probably be time for me to start on a new design. :-)Speaking of browsers... For simplicity, I'd love a solution that would help me secure all three things: my doors, my computers, and my files... all with one Bryanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16693525146787661053noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6321775.post-1138120227316244172006-01-24T10:45:00.000-05:002006-01-24T11:30:27.350-05:00Idiots Disguised as Computer PeopleI've seen a bunch of silly stuff recently on the Web, but this guy passed the silly mark and went to the "so silly I have to write about it" mark. Just like many of the other new paid subscribers to the site, I have been frantically uploading, "tagging", and organizing my 3000+ photos. This tidal wave of new photos seems to be causing some problems on the Flickr servers, though, Bryanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16693525146787661053noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6321775.post-1136299620597826792006-01-03T09:41:00.000-05:002006-01-03T10:46:17.693-05:00Happy BunnyWho's Your Happy Bunny?brought to you by QuizillaBryanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16693525146787661053noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6321775.post-1135202191735130622005-12-21T16:43:00.000-05:002005-12-21T17:00:28.066-05:00A New Sypher.orgI have decided to replace the CommunityServer running on Sypher.org with Blogger and Flickr. CommunityServer looks like it will be a great tool eventually, but the combination of Blogger and Flickr are a great tool available right now! I have already moved around 1700 of my photos to the Flickr site--which is all of my photos taken from June 2004 to today. There are a few more of them on Sypher.org since I'm limited to 20MB per month on Flickr.I'm used to hosting my own photo gallery, but Flickr looks promising as a stand-alone photo gallery site. I may like the way this works and stick with it for a long time, or I might just like a couple of things about it and use it to help spruce up my hand-rolled journal, or I may Bryanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16693525146787661053noreply@blogger.com0
