It is written that a man's shed is his castle, and there is no grander castle in the NW than the keep of King Slack of Mac and Queen Jennifer.

This Sunday the drawbridge at 72 Purtons Road, North Motton, will be lowered to allow the royalty of Burnie Hash (and the odd DickHead peasant) to attend the grand opening, repleat with pagentry and all things bright and sparkly.

After a brief crusade starting at 3:30pm, the grand procession will enter the castle to be greeted by Royal Highness Tals and Royal Wideness Slacko.

Bring a hat, mug, friend, piece of wood and $10 for banquet and mulled wine. Bring extra $ for GonZo's vice-regal raffle of vices.

News from the NW has been a bit scarce this week, which is odd considering how much 'HashSpace' traffic there has been about bras 'n' things and considering you've sent Bastard and Pioneer down to experience the southern Tour de Pisse.

So, I have assumed the following about this week's r*n:

trail is being set by Ratchet (based on Chunder's e-mail of last week)
trail starts from 1054 Isandula Road, Gawler (based on history of the past three years, there is a 93.2% statistical probability)
trail starts at 3:30pm (with allowances for seasonally-adjusted Ringo-time)
it will cost $10 (assuming Professor Speed Hump hasn't upped the cost to cover her southern sojourns)
you will get something to drink and something to eat (quality and quantity not assumed)
GonZo will have a raffle prize so you will need extra money (not some much an assumption as a wild stab in the dark)

I am also assuming that you bastards actually read this crap, however I have NOTHING to base that on.

Last Sunday, 15-year old Chardonnay hasher Jess "Hamburglar" Macdonald completed 43 laps of a 1km circuit around Ogilvie High School to raise awareness of poverty in Sudan. Like a well-fitting bra, she was supported by hashers from the south of the state and managed to raise $600, which will go to World Vision for projects in that area.

This Sunday, Burnie hashers will complete 43 laps around A Bit of This' bus, before setting off on trail at 3:30pm from 8 Charles Street, Ulverstone. Afterwards, the pack will complete the full Hamburglar experience by 'dining' on fare from McDonalds. The Burnie JMs have also decided that $5 from each hasher will be donated to Hamburglar's fund-raising efforts. If you wish something more elaborate than a straight burger and chips, you should bring extra change to pay the difference.

Bring a hat, mug, friend, piece of wood and $10 for brew and burgers. Bring extra $ for GonZo's marathon raffle give-away.

The 'sisterhood' have decreed that the 6th Global Harriettes R*n will be held on 09.08.08, rather than the customary 08.08.08. It could be argued that at in Burnie at 3:30pm on 09.08.08 it will be 10:30pm in San Francisco on 08.08.08. Of course, this is a cop out, but you don't dare cross the sisterhood in these matters. This event will also be a non-birthday party not for Ratchet who will not be turning 60. More details later.

It's time again to put the tart back into tartan and the spoof into the sporran, as Burnie Hash heads to the highlands for the annual Chardonnay Highland Fling.

If you haven't booked your room already, I'm afraid that you're out of luck as the Lake St Clair Resort is packed to the rafters. Those who have booked are assured of a weekend not soon forgotten, which isn't always a good thing.

For those stuck in Burnie this weekend (or planning a wedding on the Gold Coast), eat some sheep intestines then drain a bottle of single malt while sitting in the fridge and you won't even know that you weren't really there.

For a slab of beer I could even Photoshop your image into some Fling photos (removal of double chins extra). Or I could, if I still had a computer.

A new year dawns, but it's Sunday morning and no one is going to be awake until well after mid-day.

This week's hare apparent is Chunder, who will be top contender for r*n of the year (until next week) with a Bolt Error starting at 3:30pm from the fountain at Burnie Civic Centre. Afterwards the pack will flow to a local pub for a countery (buy your own meals and drinks).

It will be a slow start to new Hash Cash Speedy's collection for her college fund, but new Hash Hawker will undoubtedly have something spectacular in the raffle.

Also bring a hat, joke and friend.

Dancing Queen Phay Ray and the mirror-balled Urang have transformed King Kommunications into Studio 69 for this Saturday night's send off to another fine Burnie Hash year (or 13 months).

The evening starts at 5:30 with a stroll around Burnie nightspots, before glamming-up for an evening of shaking your groove thing to the funky sounds of the Disco King.

The HTV Awards will be presented for Bolt Error, Cocque Cup and Richard Cranium, plus other minor awards I was not privy to selecting so they're bound to be not as good as previous years.

Cost is $25, which covers r*n, on on, 3 course meal, badge, plus fabulous entertainment. BYO evening drinks, and a coat to ward off the evening chills so as to avoid a Saturday Night Fever.

That day (night) will live on forever in the minds it scarred - Virgin Danny reclaimed his virginity and left the island, Corpse is now as ethereal as his name implies, Grizzly and Lone Arranger moved to the opposite end of the island, Nicer Pair-a-Tiffs can only hash in small measures, A Bit of This and Truly have found any excuse to spend one more weekend away from the coast. Even one of the hares has exiled himself to a remote part of the big island.

Afterwards, assuming that you make it out before dawn, the on on will move back to 6 Adina Court, Penguin, where the hot tub will be percolating away (beans for nosh?).

Bring the aforementioned safety items, a hat, a mug, a joke, and someone you may never speak to again, afterwards. Bring extra for a raffle's chance to win Knickers, knickers or something worth having.

Thirty years ago the spirit of Gispert touched a group of fit young men in tight shorts from Launceston. These days you'd probably end up in gaol, but instead Burnie Hash is going north to help Launceston Hash celebrate its 30th anniversary.

The run starts at 2.30pm on Saturday from CARNACOO Scout camp, Paper Beach (follow signs from Gravelly Beach turn off, near Exeter).

This will be followed by a 70s themed 3-course dinner (black tie from waist up or fancy dress)
On Sunday there will be breakfast special time trial recovery run and brunch.
