Ah, Devonport. Rusty-hinged gateway to Tasmania and home of the DickHead hash.

In over 1,000 r*ns of Burnie Hash history, barely a bucket of ovine testicles have been held on the Mersey side of the NW Coast, but who better to throw another set of sheep's balls into the bucket than the bi coastal Dyke? (I'm sure that should read bi-coastal, but he is primarily a Devonport hasher so it stands as is - besides, he doesn't have a computer and will never read this any).

This Sunday's BURNIE hash starts at 3:30pm from Unit 2, 64 Tugrah Rd, Devonport (Google it if you're unsure how to get there), as opposed to Devonport's Monday night hash from Penguin and Tuesday night's Lunar hash from Ulverstone. All very incestuous.

Bring hat, mug, joke, friend and $10 for food and bucket. Bring extra cash to be ripped off by Hash Hawker Chunder.

After a week spent coughing up fur balls, Burnie Hash lurches into its second thousand runs this Sunday.

Lady of the Lake, Knickers, is looking for the true heir of the mystic pork sword, Exvibrator. The knights of BH3 are to assemble at Lake Isandula for a 3:30pm country hunt. 'D' batteries extra. Afterwards, retire to castle Isandula, where King Ratchet will sacrifice assorted meat-like products and Lady Knickers will fizz some week old pasta. What fun.

Bring hat, mug, joke, friend and $10 for food and bucket. Bring extra cash to be ripped off by Hash Hawker ChunZo.

A new hash club will come to light under July's flickering full moon (chhh-tata-chhh, chhh-tata-chhh). Lunar Hash, based on the NW coast of Tasmania, will meet each full moon to enjoy various pagan rituals, or at least those that involve drinking.

Authorities have announced an outbreak of B1H3 virus, otherwise known as the 'wine flue', in the North Motton area. Chief Wine Pathologist, Dr Lyn Munden, has ordered the Burnie Hash crack wine team to 72 Purtons Road, North Motton, to hunt down the carrier, Mr S Mac, who is understood to have drained several cases of infected wine in recent weeks.

The B1H3 team is to assemble at the designated point at 1530hours this Sunday, masks and glasses at the ready.

Bring surgical head covering, bed pan, bedside manner, public health patient and $10 for surgical swabs. Bring extra cash for a dabble in Dr Page's Gladstone bag.

HHH Hash Trash 05 June 2009 - Highland Fling!

Och aye the noo.

Apparently that's Scottish for 'oh, yes, the noo', the noo being a common household utensil for removing haggis stains from tiles.

It's the time of the year for all good and stout men to walk around jock-less while wearing a dress (yes, I know that happens at a red dress run too) - the Chardonnay H3 Highland Fling. Again the poor southern attendance will be bolstered by the finest of Burnie Hashers (and Grizzly) by making it an official BH3 r*n.

If you haven't booked - it will be a cold weekend sleeping in the car outside, but for the rest of us we'll be nice and warm, albeit dealing with the night-time lumberjack chorus.

The Chardonnay JMs latest attempt at organisation has everyone registering from noon, then assembling in the car park at 1:00pm for convoy to the run start. After that, it's anyone's guess.

For the stay-at-homers, it is rumoured that the Lowland Fling will be held at the normal Burnie hash time (adjusted for Ringo's absence) from the House of Hump.

Bring everything you can think of.

As soon as Tasmania was announced as host of Aussie Nash Hash 2011, people started to bring forward their thoughts on how to make it a successful event. While all these ideas were welcome, we weren’t really ready to take note.

We are now. The first general meeting of people wishing to assist in the organisation of Aussie Nash Hash 2011 will be held on Tuesday 16th June, starting at 7:00pm at the Italian Club 77 Federal Street, North Hobart.

This meeting will be used to ‘brainstorm’ the various aspects that go to make up a good hash event in order to provide soon-to-be-appointed sub-committees with a brief on their allocated areas. The bar will be open (buy your own) to assist in the process of making unintelligible scribblings on paper. We realise that the holding of this meeting in Hobart on a weeknight precludes many northern folk from attending, however we do encourage participation from all hashers and will make available notes from the meeting to all clubs and interested persons for additional comment.

If you have half a mind (all that’s required to go hashing) to input into this event, please attend. If you have further questions, please contact publicity hound Herr Flick or any of the other more appropriate persons listed below.

The winner of this year's Bone Idol contest will be announced this Saturday at the galah Burnie AGPU finals night to be held at the Gawler Opera House.

Last year's winner, A Bit of This, has been Bone Idol for twelve months and will now relinquish her title to a worthy finalist. The first and second runners-up will be declared Bony Joints, with other awards going to Funny Bone (On Sec), Bare Bones (Cash), Bone Dry (Hops), Point the Bone (Lip), Bone Lazy (Trailmaster), Give a Dog a Bone (Hawker), Bad to the Bone (Monk) and Boned Up (Web Wanker)

The final is preceded by a red carpet tour hosted by Ratchet, starting at 4pm from 1054 Isandula Rd, Gawler.

Valet parking will cost $10 and please bring along a plate of something to share and drinks for the after-party.

Bring extra cash in order to drink anything other than water at these stops. Come prepared for wet weather.

In Burnie Hash lore, Choveaux Road, Oonah is a sacred site. It's right up there with West Mooreville Road Hall and the men's amenities block at Penguin Caravan Park.

It's been some time since that area has resounded to the horn and calls of 'On!', but this Sunday the tall hare and part-time Trailmaster Chunder rectifies that with trail starting at Viney Road, Oonah. To reach hashing nirvana (still smelling of teen spirit), travel south on Murchison Road for approximately 29km from the Bass Highway junction. Look for signs of life and after-life on the right.

On will be called at 3:30 PM (assumed); bring a hat, mug, joke, friend, $10 for food and bucket (assumed), almanac, and extra cash for a chance at getting GonZo's raffle dregs.

Giggles' Easter R*n

This week's trail departs from Giggles' house at Loongana Place in the heart of Somerset - it's a small street and I can't remember what number - look for the silver Toorak Tractor with the hash foot on the back, parked in the driveway.

Meet at 3 pm, Sunday April 12th for car pooling to the actual r*n start, rumoured to be up Calder Road, but not at Giggs parents house. Bring Easter supplies - Big Ears, Fluffy Bottom, shiny eggs, spicy buns. Hat, mug, joke, $10 and raffle coinage.

With the endorsement of westward travel and recreational activities from the Village People ringing in their ears, Burnie Hashers and DickHead HOFTers are setting out for a weekend of falling down in the west coast of Tasmania.

First falling point is 448 West Mooreville Road, Burnie, where hashers will fall over feint when Ringo appears ready to leave at the appointed hour of 9:00am, or any time in the ensuing hour. After a stomach-churning drive through Hellyer Gorge (no wussy link road for these hardy travellers), HOFTers will fall into line and head toward Montezuma Falls, near Rosebery. This will be followed by falling down drunk at the five-star* Mt Lyell Motor Inn. * poetic licence which is not endorsed by the RACT If heads are clear and bodies willing, a trip (unintentional pun) to Nelson Falls on Sunday has been mooted.

Bring everything you need for a day walk in Tasmania, including lunch and optional bevs.

This Sunday's Burnie Hare is as English as a failing cricket team, as Irish as a dees'l fid'er and as Scottish as a bone-chilling mist. She's the painted lady with the long dog and mobile postcode, and she's setting trail from the top car park at Fern Glade Reserve, Burnie.

Be ready for a 5:30pm on on call and bring a hat, mug, friend, piece of wood, joke, auger, $10 for food and bucket and extra cash for a dibble in GonZo's rigged raffle.
