Super Cells Rumbling Through!

Well after a 14hr work day I'm home and beat , but I have closely been watching radar for well over 4hrs now. Spoke to my chase buddy Rick about all the action on radar. Three severe cells have been moving (past few hours) from NW to SE ahead of the cold front, and have caused havoc on many counties in central Georgia. As of 1:12am several reports from central Ga of numerous trees down, power outage, wind damage mobile homes blown over with people trapped inside around Parrot, Ga!

The Merge!

Hello everyone! It is my pleasure to announce that "MESOMIKE"will merge with "Southwest Georgia Stormtrack" beginning at the end of March 09 to form "Southwest Georgia Stormtrack II" respectfully.

This will allow me not only to update on a regular basis, but be part of a team that enjoys all the aspects of weather when we can. Everyone is busy in life (I am) and this is a hobby very dear to my heart so I think this merger will be beneficial to MESOMIKE.COM that if I can make it on a chase so be it....if not so be it... I can support another team member if I can in enjoyable fashion!

As some of you know I am in the US Air Force, and I'm trying very hard to get back overseas. I hope to get my assignment this year, and if this happens ST2 will make it to the plains for a springtime "farewell chase"

ALL,

I just want to apologize for the lack of anything on this blog! My current location gives me particularly zero Internet! I hope they (citynet) get something out my way by winter! I am also searching for a nice EVDO antenna that will help my situation.

The next couple of weeks I am heading to Italia with my girls.... That's correct I'll be sipping cafe', eating "real" pizza, and pigging out on my mother-in-laws pasta dishes. Mamma Mia can't wait!

WX note : I have had some pretty good success catching Georgia storms this year! (or should I say a lot found me) I will try to load the worthy shots between now and 2009.

Well. . . good bye for now that is. I am going to be off-line all the way to the end of March. Sort of like my good friend RICK I got foucusing to do, but for me this means study...study...study! I will test for a higher position in the military at the end of next month. I must be ready for it!

I will post if some severe wx pops it head up around the deep south! I also look forward to posting chase accounts of what the TEAM does this season! I really look foward to catching some good shots with my newly aquired camera (Dew, Rick this is where you drull) the Canon 40D

During this spring I hope to give all my readers good updates on this season.

First snow for 100 years falls on Baghdad

BAGHDAD (AFP) - Light snow fell in Baghdad early on Friday in what weather officials said was the first time in about a 100 years.
Rare snowfalls were also recorded in the west and centre of Iraq, plunging temperatures to zero degrees Centigrade (32 degrees Fahrenheit) and even colder, an official said.
The snow in Baghdad, which melted as it hit the ground, began falling before dawn and continued until after 9 am, residents said.
"Snow has fallen in Baghdad for the first time in about a century as a result of two air flows meeting," said a statement by the meteorology department.
"The first one was cold and dry and the second one was warm and humid. They met above Iraq."
The director of the meteorology department, Dawood Shakir, told AFP that climate change was possibly to blame for the unusual event.
"It's very rare," he said. "Baghdad has never seen snow falling in living memory.
"These snowfalls are linked to the climate change that is happening everywhere. We are finding some places in the world which are warm and are supposed to be cold."
Snow was also reported in the mountainous Kurdish north of the country, where falls are common.

THE MORNING FOG WILL BE MORE PATCHY NORTH AND WEST OF THE BIG BEND. CONFIDENCE IS INCREASING THAT ORGANIZED SEVERE WEATHER WILL DEVELOP WEST OF THE AREA DURING THE PEAK HEATING OF THE DAY AND IN AN AREA OF INCREASINGLY FAVORABLE DEEP LAYER AND LOW LEVEL SHEAR.

COOL: Woke up this morning to cooler temps in middle Ga. Yesterday was interesting here It rained until 10:00 then it cleared nicely, and was hot!

FISH: Today I am on my way to the Ga Aquarium! This will be my second visit this year. I strongly suggest while there isn't too much weather going on.... get on over to the aquarium! (Dew you might want to buy a season pass) :oP

STORMS: We could get some angry Sky's late this afternoon in south Ga. I will have middle Ga covered this time, but I hope Dew, and Rick can hook up to chase where the real action should be.

Well we are pulling up to the aquarium now.. got to go have some fun.....

SETTLED IN !

Hello folks.....

Well I can official say I have finally settled into my new job, home and surroundings.... the warp drive has been disengaged. The computer problems I had are resolved. I even got a chasing upgrade! I now do broadband wireless using the UTStarcom PC5750 card. This is going to be great out in the field. I will be able to update radar on GRlevel3 when I want, and surf when the Dewvoid has killed the storms for the evening. The reception is very good and it has decent data speeds. The service I chose is alltel.

Today I am getting scheduled and non-schedule maintenance accomplished on my V-dubb. Lets see I am up to 560.00 right now (looking on ground for heart that has been ripped out) but sometimes things break. (nooooo it is Christmas) I am happy though because I got a chance to meet up with Dewdrop for lunch. We had a good time (the norm) and pretty good food. It was nice to catch up on things, and talk about current events ..... like the dangerous flooding in the NW.

She tried to throw the "Dewvoid" card at me, but I reminded her that since I have been here (early Nov.) Ga HAS seen rain, and a T-storm or two.

I see an active future for our team spring08 ......... hope we can be the ones to save some lives!

I have taken a couple of random shots that I will post later this evening. Hope everyone is having a great Friday! What? 80's this week-end?

Hello All,

I am trying to figure out the best Internet service for my area, and I hope to have this done by sometime next week. For now it will be WIFI hot spots. Not much to report from my area (Tifton, GA) but FROST the last couple of days. Oh and I knew I was in my home state when I saw all the cotton along the side of the road.

On my way home tonight I saw about 8 tractors collecting all "them there" GA peanuts from a huge peanut field. Yeah I am back home.....

I have spent a great two days at my sisters house in SW Georgia. She has been blessed with 5 wonderful children, and they have kept their Uncle very busy! I have thrown kids up in the air (5 times each), thrown the football, helped color, and even cleaned my sister's oven to help her out! (I know I am nice) I am having fun entertaining the kids though, and they always have funny stories to tell me.

My travels today take me back to my folks house to load up the van, and head down to the deep south.

Finally my day has come......

Lightning Strikes Under The Bra?

So I was near the end of the internet when I found this story.....

Women around Mumbai may just have more to worry this monsoon than just their make-up running and their hair getting wet. Did you know there is the possibility you could be struck by lightning if you’re wearing underwired bras?

A recent scientific study strengthens the belief that metallic supports in modern bras could attract lightning and strike their wearers dead. An unconfirmed instance of this occured circa 2000 in Hyde Park, London, when two women hiding under a tree died after being struck by lightening. The forensic report said "lightning discharge was channeled into the metal brassieres, leaving burn marks on the women’s chests."Does this assume significance at a time when Mumbai’s met department has issued a weather forecast for today that warns of the "possibility of thundershowers in parts of the city and the suburbs?" Question is, are the city’s nymphets taking it seriously enough to change their underwear habits. From early reactions from most of them, it doesn’t look like that’s happening.

So what do the city’s women have to say about all this? While some dismiss the story as "bull", others call it "attempts to hype a woman’s skin" while still others say that "an underwire in a bra is as much a risk as wearing a metallic watch."
"The study is really bizarre. I can’t believe someone is idle enough to do a study on this," model Mridula Chandrashekhar says adding, I think underwire bras and getting struck by lightning have nothing to do with each other." Item girl Kainaaz, who incidentally has come to be known for her aversion to bras period, dismisses the study as "absurd".
"Why would someone get struck by lightning just by wearing an underwire bra? After all it is covered by a piece of cloth, right? I think they’re just trying to toss a particular issue by bringing a woman’s skin into the picture" said Kainaaz. City designer Nikasha Tawadey too shared that view. "Whether you’re underwired or overwired the fact is that chances of you getting struck by lightning are one in a million," she said.

Actress Kashmira Shah, also famous for outfits that leave precious little to the imagination, had a different point. "Forget underwire — what happens to all those with silicone breasts? Maybe it melts in the heat, then again, maybe all those actresses who have them can float if they’re caught in a rain flood and say they were actually ‘carried away’," she said.
It turns out there’s no cause for concern, since some international foreign brands like Aubade, which are present in the city have no metal in their underwired bras at all. "I can’t talk about other brands but the underwire in our bras is purely synthetic, so nothing to fear here," Ferzin Nutres of Aubade said.
So, if you’re used to being wired and confused what to do, try not to buy your delicates off Linking Road, at least not till the rains go away. And second, as that old line goes: Lightning never strikes in the same place twice!
