Two fun events this weekend offer opportunities to taste some Oklahoma wines.

One of my favorite wine events from Summer has been moved to October. The Drumright winefest is this Saturday. Since Nuyaka Creek Winery usually pours at this event, I am a bit biased. However, I have been a fan of Tulsa's guitar legend Mark Bruner for decades!

For the 7th year, Drumright is hosting their Annual Wine Festival from Noon untill 6pm at Whitlock Park in Drumright. This is one of the largest and BEST wine festivals in Oklahoma and a NOT TO BE MISSED event.

This year the festival will feature SIX wineries offering samples and wine for sale, food vendors (GOOD food) and several artists scattered throughout the park.

And, one of Tulsa's hottest and best known musical duos, Mark Bruner and Shelby Eicher, will be performing. And not just on stage -- but you have to come to the Festival to see what they have in store!

Tidal School Winery will have a booth offering samples of their award winning wines and new releases. There is a Trolley giving rides back and forth to the winery all afternoon.

Entry fees at Whitlock Park are $12 for Tasters and $5 for non tasters.

Enjoy local art, music and wines at the Fourth Annual Art Walk in Downtown Eufaula! The Art Walk features some of Oklahoma's most talented artists and musicians, experience the shops of Downtown Eufaula, browse the numerous exhibits and visit the wine garden October 24, 2009. Enjoy the street dance and wine garden on the friday night before!

Sailing Horse Winery and Black Sheep Winery will have several wines available to sample so be sure to bring your friends!

Wine'n on the Chisholm Trail October 3

Duncan Ambucs is proud to host the 2nd Annual Wine'n on the Chisholm Trail on Saturday, October 3, 2009 from noon to 10 p.m. at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center in Duncan, OK. The Fall Wine Festival features local Oklahoma wineries, live music, entertainment, food and area vendors. Admission to the festival is free. For adults over 21 participating in the wine tasting there is a charge for the souvenir wine tasting glass. At 7 p.m. an Italian dinner will be served. Reservations are required in advance for those attending the dinner.

The cost per person is $25 or reserve a table for six for $150. This includes the meal, beverage, and special entertainment. Please make your check or money order payable to Duncan Ambucs for the total number of reserve dinner tickets and send to: Duncan Ambucs, P.O. Box 1765, Duncan, OK 73534. The folks at Tidal School Winery in Drumright are having free music, wine tastings and tours this Saturday, May 23, 2009 from 10am until 6 pm. Food will be available from Long's Smoked Meats.

Downtown Edmond Annual Arts Festival May 1-3, 2009

Celebrating the Arts in Downtown Edmond this year will be an event that you will not want to miss. You will be able to visit over 100 artist, enjoy the mouthwatering food from 20 food vendors that will satisfy festival-goers cravings for onion blossoms, Indian tacos, catfish, German food, pizza, fried pies, funnel cakes, onion fried burgers, kettle corn, cool drinks and smoothies along with wine tasting from some of our Oklahoma wineries.

New this year will be live entertainment at its best in the Festival Market Place Plaza with Edgar Cruz headling a weekend of great performances. Appearing will be Stephanie Jackson , Dolce, The Stringents, Zu. Zu’s Petals, students from Charles Haskell, Cross Timbers and Encore from St. Mary’s Espispacal Church. Appearing for the first time will be the 145th Army Jazz Trio, Edmond Memorial & Cimarron Jazz and the Edmond Faculty Band. Also a treat for our festival visitors will be the show choir from Armstrong College and The Metro Fiddle Club to name a few.

The Children’s area will be held in the Festival Market Place for the 2nd year and will offer face painting, pony rides, a giant slide, moon walk and climbing rock wall. A new addition to the Children’s area are children’s specialty vendors located in the Festival Market Place gazebos.

Downtown Edmond’s 30th Annual Arts Festival is sponsoring Parents Helping Parents, a non-profit organization that reaches out to parents who believe their children may be using alcohol or drugs. PHP offers hope through education, resources and shared experience.

NO ANIMALS will be allowed at the 2009 Arts Festival due to insurance liability.

Downtown Edmond Streets will be closed from 2nd and Broadway North to Hurd. First Street will be closed west to the rail road tracks and east to the alley. Indian Creek, the late Dr. Terry Lewis' Enid, Oklahoma area winery, was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning.

Thankfully, the wind was low and the blaze was confined to just the winery. The Bed & Breakfast and the rest of the grounds at Indian Creek Village Winery were undamaged. No injuries were reported.

Jenny Lewis will be in our prayers.
