This year, the challenge will be greater than ever: For the first time since 1978, the first day of Hanukkah overlaps with Christmas Day.
Christmas marks the birth of Jesus, who Christians believe is the son of God. Hanukkah celebrates the rededication of the ancient Temple after a successful revolt by the Maccabees against both Greeks and other Jews who had defiled it.
The diverse ways that interfaith families celebrate the holidays certainly contribute to rich family experiences. Only some of them, though, provide rich religious experiences. And the evidence indicates that Americans want more, not less, religion in their lives."

Jay Brewerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14570163592040629934noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6223262.post-1131807930692559992005-11-12T10:05:00.000-05:002005-11-12T10:05:30.726-05:00Chrismukkah Creator Authors New Cookbook Merging Christmas and Jewish Holiday CuisineChrismukkah Creator Authors New Cookbook Merging Christmas and Jewish Holiday Cuisine: Financial News - Yahoo!
Finance: "The book's 120 pages are filled with color photographs of cleverly conceived culinary combinations inspired by the myriad of mixes intermarriage can spawn. Chrismukkah is celebrated during the month of December...and may last from 8 to 20 days, depending on one's stamina. Chrismukah is characterized by an intermingling and combining of traditions and rituals. Chrismukka is celebrated most often by interfaith families where one parent is Jewish and the other is Christian. However, Chrismukkah is by nature all-inclusive, poly-denominational, and trans-religious. Many supplement Chrismukah with a sprinkling of rituals from Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Animism, Atheism, Agnosticism, Cynicism, or Shaminism. Chrismukkah is non-judgmental. Saints and sinners, the naughty and the nice, may celebrate side-by-side without guilt or obligation. All are invited to spin the mistletoe. Best of all, Chrismukka relieves the pressure on interfaith families to make a definitive choice between competing religious practices and beliefs."

Jay Brewerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14570163592040629934noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6223262.post-1073656821713604042004-01-09T08:59:00.000-05:002004-01-09T09:00:58.416-05:00Happy New Year!Everyone here at Chrismukkah.org is really excited about 2004 being the year of Chrismukkah! A wide-eyed Ryan stutters a complete lack of response, and Seth, wearing a Mr. Darcy sweater with reindeer on it, rushes to tell him not to worry about it, because 'in this house, you don't have to choose!' He continues, 'Allow me to introduce you to a little something that I like to call...Chrismukkah!' Secondly - you can't trademark a WORD like Chrismukkah especially when you got the domain on December 04, 2003 - after it aired on the O.C. which titled the episode, "The best Chrismukkah ever".

What's with people who do things like this? What do they have to gain? How about just being plain mean on a holiday that is supposed to be celebrated by uniting people. Here at Chrismukkah.org we believe that Chrismukkah is for everyone who wants to celebrate it - not just some lamo who wants to take it for themselves and for profit!!! Granted the O.C. portrays it in a very materialistic way, but you can celebrate it however you want. Join us in our effort to spread the word and ignore Chrismukkah.com and people like it who want to take away your Religious right to celebrate Chrismukkah!

Jay Brewerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14570163592040629934noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6223262.post-1071780742696021262003-12-18T15:52:00.000-05:002003-12-18T15:52:36.683-05:00Smell My Brain Blog: CHRISMUKKAH
Smell My Brain Blog: "CHRISMUKKAH - This week on the OC they were talking about Chrismukkah. TV show featuring Chrismukkah!

The Best Chrismukkah Ever
"Seth has combined both Hannukah and Christmas into his own, perfect holiday called Chrismukkah. It looks like this holiday season is going to be another smashing success until Summer and Anna force him to choose between them. Ryan is weary of the holidays knowing that every other Christmas has involved family fights and watching his mom hit the bottle. He won't have to watch his mom drink this holiday season, but Marissa is having problems coping with her family situation and turns to alcohol to drink the holiday away. Kirsten, fed up with her father's antics, takes her first vacation in years while Sandy continues the battle against Caleb's company in the fight to save the Heights."

Jay Brewerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14570163592040629934noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6223262.post-1071777076440113442003-12-06T14:49:00.000-05:002003-12-18T15:54:44.010-05:00Our Chrismukkah Tree!<img src="http://www.jaybrewer.net/chrismukkah/pictures/Image-2D991B42282A11D8.jpg-thumb_105_140.jpg" / border="0" align="right">Here are some pictures from the dectorating of our Chrismukkah tree!

Jay Brewerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14570163592040629934noreply@blogger.com0
