I guess it wasn't "required" but it sure was important! Learning about the elements of and how to build your own antenna will greatly enhance your understanding of how the whole "radio thing" works. <br /><br />This J-Pole is not the first one I built but I have built a version of this one. I ran across this video last week featuring Terry Bajuk, KS5Z, demonstrating how to build a collapsable J-Pole antenna. The plans come out of QST.
