The first day of 2010 as I woke up I saw 7 pigeons standing on the TV cable just outside my window. I didn´t take a picture but I marveled at the unusual sight. I found this photo which reminds of it.

The Number Seven

We come now to the great number of spiritual perfection. A number which, therefore, occupies so large a place in the works, and especially in the Word of God as being inspired by the Holy Spirit.

In the Hebrew, seven is (ba#$e (shevah). It is from the root (ba#$&af (savah), to be full or satisfied, have enough of. Hence the meaning of the word "seven" is dominated by this root, for on the seventh day God rested from the work of Creation. It was full and complete, and good and perfect. Nothing could be added to it or taken from it without marring it. Hence the word tba#$af (Shavath), to cease, desist, rest, and tb@af#$a Shabbath, Sabbath, or day of rest. This root runs through various languages; e.g., Sanscrit, saptan; Zend., hapta; Greek, epta (hepta); Latin, septem. All these preserve the "t," which in the Semitic and Teutonic languages is dropped out; e.g. Gothic, sibun; German, sieben; English, seven.

It is seven, therefore, that stamps with perfection and completeness that in connection with which it is used. Of time, it tells of the Sabbath, and marks off the week of seven days, which, artificial as it may seem to be, is universal and immemorial in its observance amongst all nations and in all times. It tells of that eternal Sabbath-keeping which remains for the people of God in all its everlasting perfection.

In the creative works of God, seven completes the colors of the spectrum and rainbow, and satisfies in music the notes of the scale. In each of these the eighth is only a repetition of the first.

Another meaning of the root (ba#$af (Shavagh) is to swear, or make an oath. It is clear from its first occurrence in Genesis 21:31, "They sware both of them," that this oath was based upon the "seven ewe lambs" (verses 28,29,30), which point to the idea of satisfaction or fulness in an oath. It was the security, satisfaction, and fulness of the obligation, or completeness of the bond, which caused the same word to be used for both the number seven and an oath; and hence it is written, "an oath for confirmation is an end of all strife." This rabbinic tradition interprets Genesis 1:1 as "In the beginning God created et – Aleph Tav, the Essence of Everything – that is, the heaven and the earth."

Doves and Pigeons

The earliest Christian symbolism is found in the catacombs, the underground tombs of the Christians. There the dove is not a symbol of the Holy Spirit, but a symbol of the peace and happiness of the soul.

In the Hebrew Bible, doves or young pigeons are acceptable burnt offerings for those who can't afford a more expensive animal. In the book of Genesis, Noah sent out a dove after the great flood in order to determine how far the floodwaters had receded. Dove is also a term of endearment in the Song of Songs and elsewhere.

In the New Testament, Jesus's parents sacrifice doves on his behalf after his circumcision. Later the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus at his baptism like a dove, and subsequently the dove became a common Christian symbol of the Holy Spirit.

On Christian tombs, the dove bearing the olive branch stands for the triumphal obtainment of Christ's peace through martyrdom or virtue.

In this case, the olive branch not only represents the peace of God, but also takes on the victory symbolism of the palm branch.

Throughout the world, the dove is known as a symbol of peace and love. A

nd it's no wonder that this charming, graceful bird is noted as such, as a pair of doves will become betrothed to one another and create a beautiful connection that can only be broken by death.
An example of this strong connection can be seen in the fact that two doves in love will develop specific songs to communicate only with each other, whether they are together in the same enclosure or only within hearing distance of one another.

One reason that Homing Pigeons return to their homes is because of some of the following factors: - they love their homes and are well cared for and the other is because they have strong family bonds to their home, where they raise their young. Studies done with homing pigeons have shown that even when they're blindfolded they can find their way home, but when small magnets were attached to them, they became disoriented. Homing pigeons then may have the equivalent of a compass in their brains allowing them to sense magnetic fields, which would aid their direction- finding capabilities. Birds perhaps use subtle differences in polarized sunlight, various landmarks and, at night, star patterns and motions to calibrate their "compasses." Typically, most homing pigeons do not fly at night unless they are trained to do so.

In Judaism, the dive signified the love of God for His Chosen People, the Israelites. White doves, signs of purity, were sacrificial offerings offered for purification at the Temple in Jerusalem. The Old Testament symbolized the dove in various forms. The dove was frequently used in the "Song of Songs," largely to convey terms of endearment: in their behavior, the doves paired for a long time. "Oh how beautiful, your eyes are like doves ..." (Songs 1: 15). "Oh that I had wings of a dove to fly away and be at rest ..." (Psalm 55: 6).

The Hebrew word for dove is Yonah (2), coming from the root meaning of a moaning sound, "I moan like a dove" (Is 38: 14). This would explain the call of many species of doves. The turtle-dove (Tor in Hebrew) (3) is by far the most common of the dove species. In April, the shepherds of ancient Israel noted their passage in their annual migration. "And the turtle-dove, swift and crane, keep the time of coming ..." (Jer. 8:7). (In late April and May, the turtle-dove, along with other birds, fly from Africa to Europe via Israel, and in the late Fall, they make their return to Africa.)

"My dove, that hides in holes in the cliff or in crannies on the high ledges" (Songs 2: 14) is a confirmation of their nesting habits. Doves make nests of twigs and scraps of debris, sometimes on rocks or in holes in cliffs, but mostly in trees and bushes. Jeremiah’s simile in the "Judgment of Moab," telling the people "to be like a ‘dove’ that makes its nest inside the hole’s mouth," confirms the nesting habit of the bird in ancient times.

In Christian lore and tradition (4), the dove is usually the symbol of the Holy Spirit or "heavenly messenger," particularly found in portrayals of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. It is also seen denoting the Holy Spirit descending on Christ at His Baptism: "He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove to alight upon Him ..." (Matt. 3: 16-17). Later on, in Matt. 10: 16, "be wary as serpents, innocent as doves," seems to imply the meaning of gentleness.

I came across a beautiful blog as I was investigating a bit more about eulogeo. It really spoke to my heart and mind so I want to share it with you.

Bloom where you are planted........

Sometimes this isn't an easy message to accept. Do you ever find yourself wanting to be anywhere but where you are? Do you ever find yourself wishing for more (or less) of something or someone, including yourself? Do you ever wonder if you're growing or if you've been planted at all? I'm sure we all do from time to time ...

For some people, including me, the "where you are planted" is more than one place. Blooming implies having some roots, some kind of attachment to the foundation, some kind of source that keeps you fed and alive and growing, opening up to new life and giving of one's unique self ...

Blooming requires an awareness of the season ... and God's grace and wisdom to let it shape us into what we are intended to be ...

"...Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from Him, so you wil grow in faith ..." (Colossians 2:7)

For a beehive, close packing is important to maximize the use of space. Hexagons fit most closely together without any gaps; so hexagonal wax cells are what bees create to store their eggs and larvae. Hexagons are six-sided polygons, closed, 2-dimensional, many-sided figures with straight edges.

Many of nature’s creations are beautiful mathematical models. The regular hexagon is a 6-sided geometric figure found in nature.

Mathematicians have shown that only regular hexagons, squares and equilateral triangles can be fitted together (tessellated) so there is no wasted space.

Of the three, the hexagon has the smallest perimeter when their areas are equal.In forming a hexagonal cell to build a honeycomb, the bee uses less wax and does less work for the same space. The hexagonal shape is found in honeycombs and in many other forms.Some patterns are molded with a strict regularity. At least superficially, the origin of regular patterns often seems easy to explain. Thousands of times over, the cells of a honeycomb repeat their exagonal symmetry. The honeybee is a skilled and tireless artisan with an innate ability to measure the width and to gauge the thickness of the
honeycomb it builds. Although the workings of an insect's mind may baffle biologists, the regularity of the honeycomb attests to the honey bee's remarkable architectural abilities.

One thing I have learned is how honeycombs are designed to maximize the use of space to they can hold more.

We have to hold more of those pleasant words that are sweet to the soul and bring health to the bones, we also have to be tireless to bring sweet honey words to ourselves and those around us!

I don´t believe it is a coincidence that pleasant words are compared to a honeycomb, a place where life is created.

After our time of celebration and Thanksgiving after setting down our stone of Ebenezer, we received bad news concerning the cancellation of my daughter´s scholarship, we don´t know if it is a mistake, and there´s nothing we can do about it until the university office opens up after the holidays.

We went from shock to silence and then to ask out loud ¨What are we going to do?¨

I guess our wishes, prayers and toast for the new year will be regarding this. We thank God for the peace of mind he has given us during this unexpected situation.

Meaning: stone of help

This was the memorial stone set up by Samuel to commemorate the divine assistance to Israel in their great battle against the Philistines, whom they totally routed (1 Sam. 7:7-12) at Aphek, in the neighborhood of Mizpeh, in Benjamin, near the western entrance of the pass of Beth-horon.

"What do the Philistines symbolize?" In Old Testament symbolism, the Philistines may represent the sinful nature in our lives. In the words of 1 Cor. 10, "Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did," i.e., the evil things we set our hearts on. Because the Philistines were related to Egypt (which symbolizes the world), they therefore represent the battle that goes on between the sinful nature and the new nature in Christ, between the evil and the good. One thing seems certain, a sensible spirituality must be based on reality ... the facts of life as they really are not as we sometimes pretend them to be. We must accept the truth about life before we can handle it sensibly. Dealing with life demands that we first know what it is, that we recognize both what we are and what the world is like.

As Augustine remarked: my knowledge captures the truth of my situation only when my judgments, my insights about the reality of my world correspond with the facts. (On True Religion, 36.66). Certainly that most perfect form of knowledge, wisdom, cannot rest on an erroneous idea about what the world is truly like, what I am truly like. If I claim to know that I am all-perfect, that indeed I am God, I cannot be called wise. Indeed, I am insane. Like those poor souls who laugh at a world their terrible fever has created, I am not in a happy state, a state which (if we recognized its true character) would cause horror, not ecstasy. The fact of the matter is that (again as Augustine observed):

Such is the overwhelming power of unconquerable truth, that one would rather keep one's wits and cry than lose one's wits and laugh.

Sometimes without taking notice we are trapped following paths which are not the paths of our God given destiny, then we find we are becoming trapped in thoughts and circumstances that keep us away from a life of plenitude.

Depression has taken me by surprise again.......... I feel solitude and despair..........tears are trapped inside my eyes.

I have begun fasting to discipline my body, to discipline my thoughts to quest for my Lord´s face and guidance.

The Effects Of Fasting On The Brain

We are a physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual whole. Each realm influences and is dependent upon the others. It is no surprise, then, to realize that an effective program that restores physical health would also have great effects on our emotional, intellectual, and spiritual selves.

People routinely have a spiritual experience, an awakening, a deeper spiritual awareness resulting for several days of fasting.

Our intelligence processes are also enhanced. This should not be surprising, because we know that our brain operates on a chemical level, too. It needs to be properly fed and oxygenated. It must be freed of any toxins that have crossed the blood/brain barrier.

All this has a direct bearing upon how we respond to stimuli with our emotions. We are, after all, a complex whole.

Mayweather Returns in Victory: Bad Night for Mexican Boxing

Mexican all over the country were practically glued to their TV sets. Expectations were high in favor of our countryman Juan Manuel Marquez who lost without doubt against Floyd Mayweather.

Floyd Mayweather jnr returned from a near two-year ring absence with a punishing 12-round decision over Mexico's Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday.

Mayweather remained unbeaten, improving to 40-0 with 25 wins inside the distance. Marquez fell to 50-5-1 with the defeat in the non-title welterweight bout.

Mayweather knocked Marquez down in the second round and was never seriously hurt by the game but smaller opponent. Mayweather was awarded the victory by scores of 118-109, 120-107 and 119-108.

Chris John beat Rocky Juarez.

Indonesia's Chris John got a late scare but retained his World Boxing Association featherweight title with a unanimous 12-round decision over American Rocky Juarez.

John was in control of Saturday's fight, despite a swollen left eye, when Juarez connected with a left that had John's knees sagging with less than a minute left in the 12th round.

An unsteady John managed to hold on and emerge with the victory by scores of 114-113, 119-109 and 117-111.

John remained unbeaten with 43 victories, one drawn and 22 knockouts. Juarez fell to 28-5-1 with 20 wins inside the distance

Michael Katsidis presented a great fight!

TOOWOOMBA boxer Michael Katsidis was confident he had escaped a broken jaw after turning in the performance of his career in Las Vegas yesterday.

Katsidis recaptured the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) interim lightweight world title, winning a split points decision against Mexican Vincente Escobedo at the MGM Grand.

While the Toowoomba boxer turned in the best performance of his career, applying constant pressure throughout the fight, the bout came with some controversy as one judge amazingly scored the bout 116-112 in favour of the Mexican.

Same life different field of view

I meditated this week, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the eyes are a window to the soul.

When rays of light hit the eye they are converted to nervous stimuli that travels to the optic center in the brain and enter conscious thought as an image.

The eyes provide information to the brain.

When illness disrupts our amazing body processes, and our brains are not working well and neither are our eyes, then reality becomes quite unreal.

All the beauty in our life blurs into a fog of confusion and desperation, yet it´s still the same life, it´s still beautiful yet we have stopped precessing that information along the way, like when body and brain are tired after driving long hours sometimes it just stops processing and inertia takes over.

We can live our lives just with the impulse of inertia as we walk through trials. Then life can lose it´s color, it´s flavor, it´s happiness and depression settles in, unexpectedly, unnoticed, because you think it´s you, you think it´s life, you think there´s nothing you can do but run or get away, scape!

Believe me when I tell you depression is subtle and set its trap around you. I thank God for the truth of His word, it held me steady on the rock even when I wanted to jump off of it and give up. He had me on the palm of His hand.

I have to thank all the people that prayed for me when I stopped praying, I have to thank my husband for taking me to private doctors when he saw something was very wrong and I seemed to be getting worst with the treatment at the Social Security Clinic in my country.

I have to thank the doctors that professionally took loving care of me, explaining my situation and encouraging me to get better. Encouraging me to be myself again!

I´m back to my beautiful life again! My eyes are on Jesus again!!

Depression can be related to the cause of the epilepsy.

Injury to the brain can occur for many reasons, including stroke, a difficult birth, head trauma or a past infection such as meningitis or encephalitis. Because the brain controls our emotions and moods, it is not surprising that any disruption to normal brain functions can cause depression. Studies suggest that people with damage to the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain are more prone to depression than those with damage to other parts of the brain. However, many people with brain damage do not become depressed.

Seizures causing depression

Although it is unclear exactly how epilepsy as a condition can directly cause depression, it is known that some people have changes in mood or behaviour in the period before a seizure occurs. This is known as the prodromal stage. Depression may occur as part of a warning or "aura" before a more recognizable seizure. Equally, depression and confusion are very common following a seizure. This is known as a postictal state. Usually, postictal states are brief.

A 48-year-old male with treated hypothyroidism presented with a long-standing history of depression that had been refractory to treatment. A computed tomography scan of the brain revealed atrophy in the frontal regions. This finding is significant because the patient has no known history of traumatic brain injury, inhalant or alcohol abuse, or prolonged exposure to gasoline. On the basis of the results of the brain imaging in conjunction with the patient's clinical presentation and neuropsychological testing, frontotemporal dementia was considered in the diagnosis and was thought to explain his chronic symptoms of apathy, anhedonia, and suicidal ideation. Electroconvulsive therapy was implemented, with resolution of the patient's depressed mood and neurovegetative symptoms of depression as well as improvement in his Mini Mental Status Examination scores.[/q]

World Championship Boxing Cabo´s New Entertainment

Two world championship Boxing Fights at Cabo San Lucas yesterday!
The highlight of the night was Humberto ¨Betillo ¨Gutierrez vs. the Russian Sergey Gulyakevich, for the WBC Super Featherweight Title but the crowd definitely cheered for our local world champion Raúl ¨Rayito¨Garcia who fought against ¨Samy¨Gutierrez for the third time, once they were both disputing the world title, the second time ´Samy¨ Gutierrez challeged ´Rayito´for the title in a fight that ended in draw. Rayito´s title was in danger last night! The fight was very difficult, Rayito seemed slow, taking many punches from a very energetic ¨Samy¨Gutierrez. The fight was announced as a draw at then claiming there had been a mistake counting the points Raul ´Rayito´García was declared officially the winner.

Humberto Mauro “Betillo” Gutiérrez beat the Russian contender Sergey Gulyakevich in the fight that finally turned out to be the highlight of the night as advertised. It was a good, close and even fight!

WBC super featherweight contender Sergey Gulyakevich traveled to take on #3-ranked Humberto Mauro Gutierrez for the interim WBC Super Featherweight Title this Saturday night, August 22nd at the Auditorio Unidad Deportiva in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico. The 28-year old Gulyakevich (26-1, 12 KOs) arrived in Cabo after an 8,000 mile flight from his home in Minsk, Belarus to battle the 20-year old Gutierrez (25-1-1, 19 KOs), fighting in his home country of Mexico.

I finally had my appointment with ophthalmologist, the appointment was given to me since May. my eyes have been extremely red and dry another doctor had observed unilateral Proptosis in my left eye.
It turned out to be Proptosis in my right eye, it actually looked smaller due to irritation,therefore making the left eye look bigger at simple sight. Under close examination my right eye showed inflammation of the conjunctive and corneal thinning.

Thyroid eye disease is an inflammatory condition which affects the orbital contents, extraocular muscles and orbital fat.
It is associated with Grave´s disease but may rarely be seen in Hashimoto´s thyroiditis, primary hypothyroidism or thyroid cancer.

The ocular manifestations of TED include soft tissue inflammation, eyelid retraction, proptosis, corneal exposure and optic nerve compression.
The signs and symptoms of the disease include lid retraction, lid lag, and delay in the down-ward excursion of the upper lid down gaze .
The lid margins, which normally cover the cornea slightly, are retracted away from the cornea, causing accelerated evaporation of the tear layer and drying the ocular surface. As chronic inflammation occurs, there is fibro-fatty infiltration of lid tissues.
Soft tissue inflammation and eyelid may be noted or conjunctival oedema and dilated vessels over the extraocular muscle insertions.

Thyroid eye disease is perhaps the most common cause of acquired diplopia, It also causes restrictive myopathy ---- an actual restriction of the muscle´s ability to contract and move the glove.

Bipolar Disorder

The last couple of days have been quite different, unusual, touching with a tint of tragedy, unforgettable yet to others as they read these lines they might seem insignificant, just things of life.

I went to visit one of my dearest friends at the psychiatric ward of the state hospital, she was supposed to be away for the summer. I was shocked and surprised to know she had had a very serious crisis and had been heavily sedated for the last couple of days and will stay there for at least a month.

As a woman suffering from bipolar disorder, she can fall into very profound depressions or anxiety attacks that can cause her to attempt against her life. I don´t know the details of the whole situation now but it was a family situation that triggered the attack but I also know she has a tendency to stop taking her medications.

My husband and I had to ring a bell in a special section of the hospital then wait at a gate listening as several locks opened, the guard asked us who were we visiting and let us in. It was visiting time and I saw her and her husband sitting at the lounge. It was so sad to see her there, with her eyes all swollen from medication and crying. We just hugged and I caressed her face and wiped her tears. I realized how much I love her, and how it would hurt to lose her.

Bipolar disorder

People with bipolar disorder experience unusually intense emotional states that occur in distinct periods called "mood episodes." An overly joyful or overexcited state is called a manic episode, and an extremely sad or hopeless state is called a depressive episode. Sometimes, a mood episode includes symptoms of both mania and depression. This is called a mixed state. People with bipolar disorder also may be explosive and irritable during a mood episode.

Extreme changes in energy, activity, sleep, and behavior go along with these changes in mood. It is possible for someone with bipolar disorder to experience a long-lasting period of unstable moods rather than discrete episodes of depression or mania.

A person may be having an episode of bipolar disorder if he or she has a number of manic or depressive symptoms for most of the day, nearly every day, for at least one or two weeks. Sometimes symptoms are so severe that the person cannot function normally at work, school, or home.

The Physiological Importance of the Pineal Gland

During the late 1990's in England, a scientist by the name of Jennifer Luke undertook the first study the effects of sodium fluoride on the pineal gland. She determined that the pineal gland, located in the middle of the brain, was a target for fluoride. The pineal gland simply absorbed more fluoride than any other physical matter in the body, even bones.

Because of the pineal gland's importance to the endocrine system, her conclusions were a breakthrough. Her study provided the missing link to a lot of physiological damage from sodium fluoride that had been hypothesized but not positively connected. A veritable root source for the chain reaction of blocked endocrine activity had been isolated.

Good news though. Frequent exposure to outdoor sunshine, 20 minutes or so at a time, will help stimulate a fluoride calcified pineal gland. Just make sure you take off your hat. This is more important than most realize, because the pineal gland affects so much other enzyme and endocrine activity, including melatonin production.

“ He is a champion because he is now with Christ ” expressed Marco Antonio Nazareth´s father at the last good-bye given to the fighter by around 150 persons yesterday around 11 am after the body arrived to Zapopan Jalisco.

Marco Antonio Nazareth, conocido en el ámbito pugilístico como El Texano, “es un campeón porque ya está con Cristo”, así lo expresó hoy su padre, Marco Antonio Nazareth, en el último adiós que unas 150 personas le dieron al peleador, luego que perdiera la vida a causa de un derrame cerebral como consecuencia de la pelea que sostuvo el sábado pasado en Puerto Vallarta ante Omar Chávez, hijo del ex campeón mundial mexicano, Julio César Chávez.

Marco Antonio Nazareth 23 died after induced coma due to brain injury from the blows received during his fight with the son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez.
A tragic end to such young life, family, friends and Mexican box mourn his death. May he rest in Peace

Update Monday July 20th.

Marco is still in a coma but there has been a report of a slight improvement. Family friends and fans have bot stopped praying for his recovery.

Update: July 19

Marco Antonio Nazareth has been reported to be in a critical condition at the intensive care unit in a hospital in Vallarta. A report of the evolution of his recovery will be made within 96 hours once the swelling of his brain decreases after a blood clot was surgically removed yesterday night after the fight.

Omar Chavez and his family were at the hospital to ask about Marco Antonio´s condition. Marco´s father does not hold Omar Chavez responsible for his son´s condition.

Marco Antonio Nazareth ¨El Texano¨was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a brain injury, reason why he underwent surgery last night, there are no news concerning the extent of the injury.
He presented a fierce fight until that final right blow during the fourth episode.
There is sadness and consternation about Marco Antonio´s condition.

El hijo menor de la Leyenda, Julio César Chávez, sorteó la dificultad de pelear ante un rival más pequeño, pero fiero y tenaz para pelear en corto, y al final logró imponerse con poder y noquear técnico en el cuarto episodio.
Pero el final tuvo tintes de tragedia. Después de conocerse el veredicto, Nazareth, quien nació en Texas, pero radica en Vallarta, no logró reponerse de ese último volado de derecha de Omar, sentado en el banquillo perdió más fuerzas y tuvo que ser bajado en camilla.

The first word, Anokhi, means, "I am." G-d is speaking of Himself, and communicating with us.
The Midrash is intriguing. It says this first word Anokhi is Egyptian, because G-d wanted to speak with us in the language we had learnt while we were in Egypt. This tells us something about the nature of Torah and of being a Jew. G-d does not want to relate to us only on the sacred, spiritual level of our lives, represented by Hebrew, the holy language. He wants to reach the earthly "Egyptian" dimension as well.

We should not try to pretend that we do not have this lower aspect. Rather, we should try to control it, then elevate it and ultimately transform it into something holy.
Note that the word anokhi (“I”) is used instead of the more common word ani, suggesting the uniqueness of God. The word eloheykha (“your God”) is in the second person singular, rather than in the plural. Each person (individually) must recognize that the God who created him or her is entirely unique, without rival, and entirely sovereign.

There are no mediators in this encounter -- the soul stands before God alone. We know from Exodus 20:18-21 that the Jews were unable to withstand hearing these commandments and asked Moses to be their mediator. Moses, by God’s grace, was given the ability to receive the full content of the Torah at Sinai on behalf of Israel, and later Yeshua Himself became the Mediator of the better covenant than that ratified by the elders of Israel at Sinai.
When God is above all things and distractions in our life, there is no room for superstition or fear. To believe in Him gives us an identity of strength and value which will not allow deceit or manipulation to govern us, even when it comes from our own selves; through redemption we find the way, the truth and the life, an abundant life.

Superstition. Although various practices are called superstitions, strictly speaking superstition is unseemly or unbecoming worship of God.

This unbecoming worship may be the result of false devotion or of a tendency to magic. As false devotion, superstition has one feature in common. A person is concerned that unless certain external practices are performed, like multiplication of prayers, God will be displeased. When superstition tends toward magic, it associates God’s blessings with the veneration of unapproved objects or belief in unverified revelations or the performance of unauthorized ritual.
When a person never feels free or secure or has irrational fears of evil surrounding their lives, it could mean they are not trusting the magnificent power of our God, it could mean they don´t really believe Him or have placed other things as priority in their lives.
In God there is no darkness, He is light, He illuminates, He irradiates, His splendor fills our lives completely.

"My administration is committed to promoting scientific integrity and pioneering scientific research and I am confident that Dr. Francis Collins will lead the NIH to achieve these goals," Obama said in a statement.

"Dr. Collins is one of the top scientists in the world, and his groundbreaking work has changed the very ways we consider our health and examine disease. "

As director of the National Human Genome Research Institute, Collins, 59, helped lead the Human Genome Project that sequenced all the DNA in people.

Dr. Collin´s selection was praised by top scientists, he is considered an extraordinary scientist yet there are some concerns about his nomination. .

There are two basic objections to Dr. Collins. The first is his very public embrace of religion. He wrote a book called “The Language of God,” and he has given many talks and interviews in which he described his conversion to Christianity as a 27-year-old medical student. Religion and genetic research have long had a fraught relationship, and some in the field complain about what they see as Dr. Collins’s evangelism.

The other objection stems from his leadership of the Human Genome Project, which is part of the N.I.H. Although Dr. Collins was widely praised in 2003 when the effort succeeded, the hopes that this discovery would yield an array of promising medical interventions have greatly dimmed, discouraging many.

Some critics such as Richard Dawkins have expressed reservations about Dr. Collins faith, wondering if it might cloud his scientific judgment.

Francis Collins, M.D., Ph.D., is probably best known for his leadership of the Human Genome Project, though his discoveries of the Cystic Fibrosis, Huntington’s, and Neurofibromatosis genes are also extraordinary accomplishments. Dr. Collins is a world-renowned scientist and geneticist, and also a committed Christian. In his recent best-selling book, The Language Of God, Dr. Collins attempts to harmonize his commitment to both science and religion.

His new book on personalized medicine, "The Language of Life: DNA and the Revolution in Personalized Medicine," will be published in 2010.

Getting rid of superstitions that bound us

Superstition: an irrational belief arising from ignorance or fear

I´m moving ahead, there doesn't seem to be a desire from some people to get rid of superstitions (1) holding them down. Our submission to God and his word gives us protection and authority.

¨Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.¨ James 4:7

When Jesus Christ is really the owner of one´s life and heart, His truth sets you free. It doesn't matter what man can say, it didn't matter what was said to the adulterous woman in John 8:3 , the immense, unexplainable love and power of God set her free to go and sin no more.

We all walk through a path of faith and maturity, we can´t stop along with others who have stopped their journey, we can´t race beyond our strength to pass those who are way ahead of us.

We can walk step by step instead, dying to our own selves so ¨this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us¨ Corinthians 4:7-12 to let others know the source of the power that compels us.

The magnificent value of His glorious cross, what it means, what it moves us to believe, the glory of a resurrected Christ and all that it implies.

When will we understand? HE DID IT ALL

How long will we keep ignoring and taking for granted His victory at the cross? How long will we continue thinking as slaves and captives?

He transported us from darkness to His admirable light!

Forget all nonsense, believe and be free.
