What does this mean to Hawaiians? $693 million will be used on about 30 projects (Lum) of which I don't know where this money is coming from. In addition to this, the Advertiser states 1,400 acres will be purchased on O'ahu, and 23,000 acres will be purchased on Hawaii. We are losing our land. Here is a quote taken from James Tollefson, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, as written in the December 16, 2003 issue of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin: "Obviously, this reinforces the importance of Hawaii as a forward base in the Pacific. It will help the U.S. respond quickly to military aggression."

Kakesako, K. Gregg. "Abercrombie Confirms Stryker Unit Coming to Isles."
