July 29, 2008, Benin became the first foreign delegation to raise flag in the Beijing Olympic Village on Tuesday.

Fabienne Fereaz, the athlete who will participate in women's 200 meters race, said "It's my first time in Beijing. When I was in France, I watched many Chinese movies", "I hope that I will have time to visit the Great Wall".

The Olympic Village officially opened on Sunday when the delegation of host China checked in the 66-hectare compound.

The official opening of the Beijing Olympic Village will open on July 27, accoring to Deng Yaping, a former famous Chinese Table tennis player and the current deputy director of the Olympic Village Department and Village spokesperson. The facility started to run on July 20, 2008 with the arrival of the first 105 guests from Olympic delegations.
