In fact, 4 of the &quot;Keating 5&quot; senators were Democrats; McCain was the lone Republican. Deregulation received broad bipartisan support, marshalled by lobbyist dollars that cut across partisan lines. (Biden voted for it, for instance.)<BR/><BR/>You know, of course, I&#39;m no fan of McCain and criticizing him about his former involvement with Keating and the S&amp;L Crisis is more than fair. But let&#39;s not imply that white knight Dems have spent the last 25 years trying to put the brakes on the Republican&#39;s irresponsible Wall Street policies.
