Everyone surely remember when Napster was huge. The original version only allowed frequent visitors to download songs.

Since then, file sharing has erupted with hundreds of knock-off version of Napster. A lot of these programs not only have songs but they have documents, programs, picture and movies. With these updates, these programs have become a household name among young adults.

As stated before, there are many programs out there but one of the more popular ones is the programs Bear Share. Bear Share encourages the users to have shortened videos and movie files less than fifteen minutes long but that doesn?t stop the users. If the file isn?t complete then it is broken down into parts.

Another notorious program similar to Bare Share is Limewire. Often files are placed on there well before their boxed release or their theater release. Movies like Frost Nixon, American Gangster and Grand Torino was on there well before they were scheduled to be out.

One that you might come across on Bare Share and Limewire is the mpeg format. Mpeg stands for ?Moving Picture Expert Group? and it was specifically designed for internet and downloading movies. To view an mpeg format movie you will need QuickTime or Windows Media Player.

When the movie file is completely downloaded, it goes to either your Limewire or Bare Share library folder. You now can open it with a video viewing program like Windows Media Player or QuickTime and watch it. Another idea is to burn it to a CDR and watch it as a DVD.

One big worry people have with using file sharing is whether or not downloading movies is illegal. It is illegal because all the movies are protected under copywriting laws. New movies are often bootlegged or leaked so that makes them illegal to posses as well.

Companies like Paramount and Universal have begun fighting back and taking measures to stop illegal downloads. Companies have begun implement software that stops illegal downloading and tracks traffic and IP addresses. The more you download the more likely you are to get caught.

Two formats that PC users might want to be aware of is the .mov and the qt file formats. These file formats are dedicated to the Apple users. To view this you will need an Apple QuickTime Player. If you are a PC user and see this format, you might want to keep looking.

Because of the above reasons of safety and illegality, both programs have seen a significant drop in members. There are less peers to share your movies with therefore there are less movies to download. Nonetheless, this is still the place to find new movies on the internet.

Once you know what file suits you and your computer you will need to have the video player. Most can be found on the designer?s website or on download.com. And do not to forget to set your favorite player as your default player.

About the Author:

There is something deep within our psyche, which reacts and 'remembers' music. Shooting Game Download Let?s go back to the e chord example. Then listen to both of them together.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

Inflatable kayaking - more fun less work

By Jimmy Jansson

Earth has so much to offer and most of the time we just ignore it. Luckily, many people are returning back to nature. I think they have to.

I believe being in nature can provide healing to stressed out minds and bodies. Nature has a way of correcting bodies back to normal and that's difficult not to appreciate.

One part of nature that nearly everyone can connect to is water. It may have something to do with the home of our first months of existence.

Boating is usually a pleasant experience for people, but there are numerous other various water activities to do. I want you take a look at what an inflatable kayak has to offer.

Will inflatable kayaks live up to paddling expectations? Well, they will rarely go quicker than hard-shell kayaks, and are often smaller.

But, even though they are not as fast or sturdy, the inflatable kayak has great advantages. They have grown from low quality playthings, to water vehicles that can be trusted and used in rough water conditions.

So, what's real advantage with an inflatable kayak? I'll tell you in three words: It is portable. It's actually not much larger than a medium-sized bag.

You could argue the hard-shell kayak is also portable, and you are right. Even So, a hard-shell kayak is not nearly as easy to bring with you as an inflatable kayak. While a hard-shell often requires to be strapped to the ceiling of a car, an inflatable can rest in the trunk.

Consider what that can do for valuable time and flexibility! Personally, I want the boring parts of life to be as easy as possible, and the steps involved in transporting a kayak to and from the water does not bring me much joy.

The common routine for taking a kayak from home to the sea involves assembling luggage-rack, carrying and strapping. You have got to do this all over again when returning. I know, not the end of the world, but I rather not do it.

I try to focus on doing more of the things I like and less of the rest yea I pay tax). Great weather outside? I dress, jump into the car and go paddling, almost too easy.

An inflatable kayak is not that big of an investment money wise. Prices change of course, but are generally lower than traditional kayaks. Inflatable kayak designs come in the same flavors as traditional hard-shells, so there is an inflatable kayak for anybody.

About the Author:

Jimmy Jansson has always been drawn to the sea. There are many things that go into planning a vacation. Travelers need to know where they want to go first. Many factors need to go into this decision to include the actual destination or destinations, how many nights you'd like stay, what your budget is, and how you are going to book all your reservations if any.

Picking a travel destination is not as easy as everyone thinks. A considerate traveler will try to satisfy the likes of all that are involved in a trip. This becomes more difficult as more travelers are joining the vacation. A good way to avoid problems is to plan the trip as a group. The use of computer to research in the same room, or over shared connections is a great way to come up with a trip that everyone wants to go on. Using instant messengers and email to send links to travel location websites is a great way to make sure everyone is on board for where you want to go.

Once you decide on where you're going, you need to figure out how long you want to stay there. Things to take into consideration are how long it will take you to get there, how much money you can spend on hotels and accommodations, and what activities you want to do when you're there. All of these things will factor into how much time you can and want to spend at your destination.

Because your decisions may be based on the types of activities you want to participate in, you may want to research different resorts, hotels, and travel packages to see which types of tours and other activities they offer. Many times, you can save money in travel expenses by choosing a vacation package that includes hotel, activities, and other amenities. Research these packages online or contact your travel agent for additional information. Many agencies put together their own travel packages that could save you even more.

Lastly, you've chosen where you want to go and how long you'd like to stay. You can now book your vacation. While some people like to call directly to airlines, hotels, and rental car companies, this can run your costs up. Using the internet to book your travel can save you a lot of money in the long run. It is easy, and you can do it from the comfort of your own home without having to work your way through an automated phone system.

Planning a vacation does not have to be complicated, but you should make sure that you research the possibilities so you can choose the best vacation for you. This will help you have a much better time and save you some money in the end. When you don't want to have to plan activities and other events once you arrive, vacation packages can reduce your stress.

About the Author:

Leroy Calstard writes predominantly for http://www.alicante-spain.com , an internet site with information about finding flights to spain and very cheap flight to alicante. A more recent method for getting films is by using down loading technologies off websites. There are websites that with a membership, you can download virtually any movie ever made.

About the Author:

It?s a bit testtube, a bit like being in the laboratory. Strategy Action Games I?ve had this happen to me on numerous occasions. It is a native of North America, where it grows in damp forests from California northward to British Columbia.

The pinnate leaves, measuring about 20 cm, are a glossy dark green, turning shades of copper and bronze in winter. The yellow flowers, borne in clustered racemes, appear in April. The bluish berries containing 3-5 seeds ripen in August and are edible. They are also used in preserves and to colour wines.

This is a valuable, evergreen ornamental shrub, widely cultivated in the parks of western, central and eastern Europe. It is sufficiently resistant to frost even in northern Germany, being damaged by spring frosts only if planted in sunny situations. It grows best in partial shade and does well even in drier situations. It is readily propagated by means of seeds or more usually by root suckers.

The black currant is a 1- 1.5 m high shrub of broadly branching habit. The twigs arc comparatively stout, greyish, and give off an unpleasant scent when cut. The buds are ovate, pale grey, on short stalks. The hermaphrodite red-green flowers appear in May. The black berries ripen in August.

In parks it is planted either as a solitary specimen or in taller hedges and shrubbery. It tolerates moderate shade and does not require much soil moisture. In locations subject to frost and in severe winters it tends to be partially damaged by frost.

Propagation from seed is quite laborious and therefore it is usually increased either by means of softwood cuttings in summer or hardwood cuttings in autumn. The pink or double-flowered forms are especially prized in parks.

About the Author:

In garden planning, most of the large elements of garden paving look best when laid in a regular pattern.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

The Number One Marisa Tomei Biography

By Jaques McCloud

Marisa Tomei is smoking hot at the moment! I know that all you care about is seeing Marisa Tomeis hot flicks and the like, but shes oh so much more than just a hot body! Im not stating that she doesnt have the hot body or it isnt worth mentioning, because it surely is!

At this time, my purpose is to get you as deep into the mind of Marisa Tomei as possible. This will let you know how she became the sexy woman that she is today. You will be able to appreciate the incredible person that she is so much more once you do. This Marisa Tomei biography will take you there.

It may be a bit hard to fathom, but Marisa was born way back on December 4, 1964. I need to see a birth certificate or something for her to prove that to me. It is wild! Marisa Tomei has a very exotic look that you may wonder where it comes from. She is actually Italian-American. Her father Gary is a lawyer. Her mom teaches. What I wonder is if they knew they would get together to make such an incredible looking daughter.

For one, I am extremely glad that they did. Could you imagine a world in which a hottie like Marisa Tomei did not exist? I could not! Marisa got her education at Edward Murrow High School. Once she was there is when she caught the urge to get into acting. After she graduated, she would further her education at NYU. This is when she would land her first role. It was in a soap opera.

This is when her career really took off into the stratosphere. She would then get plenty of roles. The first thing that I really can say I saw Marisa in was My Cousin Vinny with Danny Devito. I really didnt enjoy that movie too much. The only reason is really because we never saw Marisa Tomei nude in it.

Not much time would pass before we would actually get to see what Marisa is working with. Marisa would bare not only her soul, but also her bare naked body in 1993. This is one of the things I really like about Marisa. She isnt like those snobby celebs that think theyre too good to take it off. Marissa started early losing her clothing and she hasnt stopped to put it on since!

You wouldnt have much of a Marisa Tomei biography if I left out the movies! To say that Marisa has accomplished a lot in her career is very much an understatement. Since debuting in the soap opera that she did, she has been in over 50 big movies. That doesnt even include the numerous amount of films that she has done just for the television. She has also appeared in a bunch of sitcoms.

Well it doesnt take a PhD to figure out that Marisa Tomei is blazing hot! Youd be hard pressed to find a sexier lady. I am plum jealous of the men that have had the opportunity to be with her. If youre wondering, the list includes Robert Downey Jr., Frank Pugliese and Logan Marshall Green.

About the Author:

Marisa Tomei is hot as the sun! William Robinson was greatly influenced by having seen plants growing naturally in alpine meadows on his travels abroad.

The main historical contribution of Germany has been a numerical one- in the sixteenth century there were more gardens in Germany than in any other country in Europe-and a certain exaggeration of the elements in any style they adopted. The French formal style of gardening also flourished in the sandy soil of Holland, on a smaller and less sophisticated scale but with more emphasis on hedges, fantastic topiary and decorative planting. Their box-edged formal beds were tilled with tulips in the spring, brought hack from the Middle East. The Dutch were responsible, through their trading and through their rise as a colonial power, for the introduction of much imported plant material- from China, America, South Africa and many other countries. They introduced the lilac, the pelargonium and the chrysanthemum into Europe and popularized tulips and many other bulbs.

In the same way that English medieval gardens remained pale counterparts of the elegant and colourful enclosures found in Europe, the gardens of English royalty and aristocracy developed on the lines of Italian and French Renaissance layouts during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. They were, however, less rigorously formal, since the English climate is more conducive to mixed planting. There was also a developing interest in horticulture and a new emphasis on flowers grown for their appearance rather than for culinary and medicinal use.

The seventeenth century was a time for pioneers on the English gardening scene. The first gardening text hooks appeared, the interest in horticulture increased and a great search for new plants began. The earliest botanic gardens were opened and there was an increasing use of orangeries and conservatories to protect tender plants.

An emergent middle class began to move out into the suburbs or even the country, which meant that many more people had gardens of their own and an interest in gardening greatly increased.

The many new plant discoveries at this time included conifers, anemones, winter jasmine, forsythia, primulas, rhododendrons and azaleas. The most significant aspect of this era of gardening is that it established the prime importance of plants in the creation of a garden.

About the Author:

You can grow herbs in your garden so that it is handy in case you need herb for your cooking.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

Knowing your soil for Growing Herbs

By Jane Courtney

The demands of a single family can vary enormously over a number of years. Where they are likely to be in the same home for sonic time it is important that the garden plan is flexible enough to reflect these changing needs. A young couple might use the garden mainly for sunbathing or entertaining and would want a simple layout which is easy to look after.

One way to discover a great deal about soil-its type and fertility-is to observe the plants that grow in it naturally, including the weeds. There are also various home kits v.hich test the acidity or alkalinity of your soil. Some register the pH value as a colour variation. It is advisable to take samples from various parts of the garden, as the level of acidity may vary from one area to another.

In some parts of the world however the soil bears no relation to the rock beneath it because it has been carried to its place by a natural force: the material pushed along by a glacier, for example, forms a type of soil known as boulder clay, and the silt washed down by rivers builds up into alluvial soils.

Digging should be done in small spadefuls at a time otherwise the task can be backbreaking. The roots of persistent weeds, such as couch grass, bindweed, dock, thistles or nettles, should be removed and later burned. When turning over a large area the best method is to dig in trenches, working with the last trench in front of you. Digging to the depth of a spade is usually sufficient but with a very heavy clay soil, or for a large vegetable patch, it may be necessary to turn over the soil to two spade-depths, known as double digging. Apart from the extra effort involved, double digging is also more complicated because it goes down to the second layer, the subsoil. It is important to keep the two layers separate, so the topsoil should be lifted out of the trench and kept aside while the subsoil is broken up and turned over. Add any organic materials at this stage, forking them in well with the subsoil.

In the family life cycle of a garden use can grow and expand and then sl reduce its scope again. The demands may vary from, at one extreme, provide a tranquil retreat after a noisy day wor in town to creating the need for phys exercise in otherwise sedentary lives.

The texture of any type of soil will be improved as the strands of decaying vegetation will break up a sticky clay soil but bind together the large particles of sandy soil. The spaces between the crumbs of soil are sufficient for the retention of moisture but they allow any excess water to drain away. The good soil structure and aeration created assist root development.

About the Author:

Keep the spade upright when digging a hole in your garden to grow herbs as it is less of a strain on your back.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

Blackthorn Shrub

By Marie Austin

Blackthorn is a densely branched thorny shrub growing to a height of 1-5 m. The bark on the stem is blackish-brown and the lateral twigs have a terminal spine. The buds are small and ovate; the flower buds arc generally borne in dense clusters on short twigs. The whitish flowers appear in April -- May before the leaves. The fruits, known as sloes, ripen in September-October and are astringent, becoming tastier after the first frosts. The brown, pitted seed is difficult to separate from the pulp.

This shrub is widespread throughout most of Europe, its range extending northward to the 68th parallel and south-east to Asia Minor. In central Europe it is most plentiful in warm, wine- growing areas, where it forms dense thickets on dry, sunny banks. It has a richly branching root system and puts out root suckers freely, for which reason it is used to strengthen rocky banks and in the afforestation of barren slopes in karst areas. It is a widespread hedgerow plant as well. It occurs at elevations up to 600-700 rn. Its thick, spiny branches provide a good shelter for small birds. The fruit is used for medicinal purposes and to make wine and dyes.

The Romanus rose reaches 1-2 m in height and has numerous shoots densely covered with thorns of varying size. The buds arc ovate and reddish. The flowers, bloom from the middle of .June to August. The large, broad hips are brick red, turning purplish red when ripe in October, with long, erect sepals at the tips.

A native of the Far East, it grows from Kamchatka to Japan, Korea and northern China. It is most plentiful in coastal areas in river valleys in sandy situations.

Nowadays it is widely cultivated in western and central Europe for its large, decorative and fragrant flowers, and it is completely frost-resistant. This species also includes varieties with double red as well as white blooms, e.g. aubro-plena', 'Alba' and `Albo-plena'. This rose has been crossed with other roses to produce several ornamental hybrids and varieties.

Propagation is by means of root suckers; cultivated varieties may be grafted onto hawthorn. The medlar interbreeds with hawthorn and several hybrids between the two are known.

About the Author:

In garden planning, cutting and laying pieces of garden paving stone in a crazy paving pattern is a difficult, precision job.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

Hop Herb

By John Michael

The name hyssop was given to a number of different plants in olden times. The name itself tells us why this happened. It is derived from the Greek words 'hys', meaning pig, and `ops', meaning face. Many plants of the Lamiaceae (Labiatae) family have flowers that resemble a pig's snout.

We learn about the first hop-fields in Europe from a deed of donation issued by the Frankish king Pepin III 'the Short' in the year 768 A.D. when hops began to be cultivated by monks in the monasteries, where beer was brewed. From that time on the cultivation of hops spread not only in Europe but also in North America, Australia and New Zealand as the consumption of beer grew throughout the world.

The female flowers are used almost exclusively in the brewing of beer, to which they not only impart a pleasant bitter taste but, because of the resin present in the lupulin, also prevent the multiplication of bacteria that cause lactic fermentation which spoils the beer. Tender young hop shoots were at one time eaten as a salad or boiled like asparagus.

The ripe follicles burst on the ventral side to release the single seed contained in each. They are harvested when ripe and then dried. The seeds have a pungent, spicy flavour.'

They are perennial but only the roots overwinter, putting up new shoots again in spring. Hops are propagated by means of cuttings from these shoots. The female flowers or strobiles (1), covered with glossy greenish-yellow glands containing bitter and resinous lupulin, ripen in late summer.

The flowers appear in late summer and early autumn, which is also when the plant is harvested by cutting the flowering parts that are not yet woody. Because it contains essential oils hyssop should he dried at a temperature not exceeding 35C (95F).

About the Author:

You must know about the tips on growing herbs to grow a herb garden.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

Anise

By Charlotte Zander

The coastal region in south-west India known as the Malabar Coast was originally called Malichabar. The name is derived from the Sanskrit word `malicha', meaning pepper and the Arabian word 'bar', meaning land, hence pepper land. This relatively narrow coastal belt is the original home of the pepper plant, a climbing shrub growing to a height of 6 m (20 ft).

Used as a flavouring are the fragrant, small, hard, greyish-brown, double achenes which have a pleasant sweetish taste. The aroma is due to the presence of an essential oil containing anethol. It is used as a cough medicine, in lozenges, and in flavouring liqueurs, most typical being anisette. Anise is a characteristic flavouring for sweet dishes, cookies and coffee-cakes. It is also added to plum preserves and to pickled gherkins.

In the Middle Ages anise was a highly prized and costly spice. It is mentioned along with fennel, coriander and caraway, in complicated recipes for making preserves of nuts, honey and raisins. It was also sprinkled, together with bay leaf, on pig's-foot jelly. Nowadays anise has become established in the wild in Europe and Asia, as well as in North America. Principal producers are Bulgaria, Italy. Spain. France, the former USSR, Turkey and Mexico.

Surprisingly allspice, one of the best-known tropical spices found in the kitchen of every home, is the latest to be introduced to Europe. It was known to the Aztecs of Mexico a long time ago but Europe did not learn of it till Christopher Columbus made his famous voyage of discovery. Even then Europeans did not begin using it until the turn of the 17th and 18th century. It has been known longest in England, where it is called allspice because its flavour resembles a mixture of pepper, clove and cinnamon. Whole dried fruits (berries) are used to flavour roast meats, mainly game, and in marinades of all kinds; ground berries are used in rice, pts, soups and sauces. Allspice is used widely in making sausages as well as liqueurs such as Benedictine and Chartreuse. The essential oil is used by the perfume industry.

Burnet saxifrage grows wild throughout nearly the whole of Europe and the Middle East. It is commonly found on dry banks, in meadows, by the wayside and on the edge of forests. If you want fresh foliage the whole summer long, however, you can grow it in the garden, windowbox or simply in a pot.

Saxifrage can be plant in any free space in your garden. You can grow saxifrage in your kitchen garden and use it as a spice in your cooking. All it needs is a sunny location and not too much moisture. It may be propagated by means of seeds (achenes), or by the division of older clumps.

About the Author:

To find out more on herbs gardening, search online for more tips and information on herbs.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

Lovage Herb

By Jonathan Richardson

The tomato as the basic ingredient of various kinds of ketchup it deserves to be mentioned. It is a native of northwestern South America (Peru and Ecuador), where the Incas raised it probably in ancient times, as did the Aztecs in Mexico. In the 16th century the tomato was taken from Mexico to Spain, where its Aztec name `tumantl' was changed to tomato, the name by which it is known in many other languages.

However, it is well worth it, for the dried herb from the shop cannot begin to compare with freshly chopped leaves sprinkled on soup or on a potato pancake.

As a plant of the Mediterranean region marjoram was known to the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, who used it not only to flavour food but also prized it as a miraculous herb with the power of healing practically all diseases, especially colds and chills.

Tomato is a perennial herb but is grown as an annual. It is a creeping plant and so is trained up low supports to keep the fruits clean. The method of raising tomatoes has been worked out to the minutest detail and enables very high yields to be obtained (depending on the climate). Though the tomato's use in Europe is fairly recent, this universal fruit, used as a vegetable, salad, flavouring and food colouring, rapidly became one of the most widespread commercial crops in the world. Intensive breeding led to the development of numerous cultivated forms of different shapes, colours and flavours.

Unfortunately the most important commercial varieties, those that bear large, round and regular, smooth-skinned fruits which can be successfully transported, have the poorest flavour. When using them in salads the flavour must be enhanced with vinegar and other dressings.

Therefore, do not always judge tomatoes by the way they look; those with the superior flavour are not always the best looking

About the Author:

You make make use of any free space in the garden of your backyard to grow herbs.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

Getting That Six-Pack Stomach and Ripped Abs You've Always Wanted

By Shea Robbins

If you're reading this article, the chances are you're craving to have ripped abs and a flat six-pack stomach, just like those sexy women and well built guys you see on magazine covers and TV commercials. Well, I'm going to go right ahead and dispel many of the myths surrounding six-packs because most of what you've heard regarding ripped abs is simply not true.

Before I even go any further in sharing with you, the method I used in order to get a stomach as flat as a washboard, let me just say that you'd do well to ignore all those ab exercises promoted insistently on the various infomercials. And, while I'm on the subject, all those expensive ab machines such as ab rollers, ab loungers and ab rockers, won't do much for you either. Oh by the way, just in case you're wandering, my name is Shea Robins.

Trust me, no matter how much time you spend on a bench or working out on a machine, great looking abs will still only be a dream. Not only have I tried scores of diets, but I've also swallowed practically ever brand of fat burner there is, and I assure you, each and every one of them let me down. In the end, what I found out was:

Please, don't make the same mistake I first made by believing everything you hear about so-called health foods. For the most part, if the manufacturers tell you their product will give you a six-pack; the chances are you'll just put on more weight.

No doubt you've heard about certain "so-called" health foods which will help you get awesome ripped abs in no time at all? The unfortunate truth though is, most of them will simply give you more belly fat.

Don't even entertain the idea of diet pills, miracle powders or wonderful fat burners. They are there simply to make the manufacturers rich and you'll be far better off if you stick to natural foods

Last. When it comes to shedding belly fat, working smart is far more effective than working hard. Believe me, there are exercises that produce unbelievable results without you having to kill yourself in the process.

If you're feeling let down and disappointed with all the things you've tried then remember, I know exactly how you feel because I have been in the self same position before. However, I have good news for you because after much trial and error, I discovered a method that does let you burn fat and get those ripped abs you've always dreamed about.

Having seen for myself just how incredible this method of mine is, I can even go as far as saying that instead of a six-pack, you'll end up with an eight-pack. No, I'm not joking. You really do have eight muscles down there, rather than six, as so many people believe. Additionally, an inevitable side effect of this method is that it increases your metabolism as well, so your body will continue burning fat at a faster rate. For you and I, this means a super flat stomach all year round.

I'd even go as far as to say that it's virtually impossible for this weight loss system not to work, so whatever you do, at least give it a try because I assure, you'll have a great looking stomach with a six pack worth dying for, in no time at all.

About the Author:

To discover the most effective Ab Workouts visit www.rippedabs4u.com.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

Cocoa

By James Rowan

Tansy, a perennial herb up to 1 m (3 ft) high, is native to Europe where it is widely distributed. Its Latin name is derived from the Greek word `athanasia', meaning immortality. It was very popular in the Middle Ages.

Its occurrence in the wild as well as its cultivation is restricted to the inland tropics with their heavy rainfall and rich soil. Over the years growers have bred and developed a great variety of cultivated forms and we no longer know what the original wild trees were like.

Rowanberries are subtly piquant fruits reminiscent of cranberries with their slightly bitter, aromatic flavour and bright colouring. Forms with sweet fruits are ideal not only for making compotes, jams and wines, but above all for flavouring roast beef, roast game and cream sauces, to which, besides taste and aroma, they also give a lovely colour.

Cocoa, as well as the chocolate made from it, are surprisingly enough used to flavour certain meat and fish dishes (mainly octopus). It is used in combination with onion, garlic and tomatoes, principally in Italy and Spain.

The rowan is distributed throughout western and central Europe from the lowlands up to the tree-line.and in northern Europe, even north of the Arctic Circle. It is a small, deciduous, rapidly-growing tree reaching a maximum height of 20 m (65 ft); it is not very long-lived and its wood is of little value. Its one advantage is that it is completely hardy.

Tansy may still occasionally be encountered in gardens, where it is generally grown for decoration. The ornamental form T. vulgare crispum is often cultivated. The yellow, button-like flower-heads arc composed only of tubular flowers; female flowers round the perimeter and bisexual flowers in the centre.

About the Author:

A good herb garden pattern is set in brick paving.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

The Importance of Colour in Gardening

By Reuben Garden

No matter how much careful planning and planting have gone into your garden, it can all be to no avail if the ultimate sizes of the plants have not been considered, and this means the width or spread of the plants, not just their height.

Hot summer days can be cooled down by the white flowers of Philadelph us and the blues of delphiniums. The pinks of camellias in spring hint at the warm days of summer to come, while the bold flame reds, yellows and oranges of the autumn foliage of Acer and Cotinus can furnish us with memories of warm colours to carry us through winter to what seems a far-off spring. Yellow, gold and white plants can be used as focal points to create vistas that add the illusion of space and distance, and these include the winter stems of birch (Betula) or the golden foliage of the cut-leaved elder (Sambucus racemosa `Plumosa Sitwell"). Such plants can also he used brighten up a dull, uninteresting or dark corner by reflecting what little winter light there is available.

Flowers not only offer colour but also scent, and when the two coincide, the effect of each can be heightened. The appreciation of a particular fragrance is always a personal matter, and what gives pleasure to one may not be detected by another. it is worth remembering, too, that some plants, especially roses and lilies, are expected to be fragrant. In fact, this is not always the case, and if scent is important to you, check that the variety you are proposing to plant is, in fact, scented.

In all the entries in the directory there is an indication of the average height and spread that is to be expected from any given plant over a given number of years. However, it is worth bearing in mind that a plant's development will always be influenced by the conditions in which it is grown.

Silver and grey plants, such as santolina (cotton lavender) and artemisias. arc the ideal foil for most other colours, and they can be introduced to create buffer zones between strong colours, such as reds and blues, and to provide somewhere for the eye to rest.

This may seem obvious, but many gardens, even those apparently well designed, do not look exciting or stimulating simply because the number and balance of the plants in them have not been thought through and acted upon.

About the Author:

In garden planning, flowers of different colors will brighten up your garden and make your garden look lively.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

Elderberry

By James Pollock

Caught up in the fast pace of the present day we often forget age-old culinary treats that made life pleasant for our ancestors. One of the most aromatic is the inconspicuous savory, recommended by Vergil to his countrymen.

The berries contain a deep red juice, hence the name Sambucus, derived from the Greek word `sambyx', meaning red colour. Both the flowers and fruits are used in cookery. The inflorescences are cut off as soon as they open, spread out on nets to wilt, the blooms are then stripped from the stalks and rapidly dried so they do not discolour.

In the Middle Ages it was called `Oculus Christi', meaning the eye of Christ, and was added to vegetables and to meat dishes to give them a subtler taste. The famous French book Le menagier de Paris includes it among the herbs for flavouring vegetable omelettes and in a recipe for a green marinade for preserving fish. The seeds of clary were believed to counter 'eye weakness'.

The leaves are very aromatic and may be used both fresh and dried. They are added, together with the flowers of elderberry, to wine to give it a nutmeg-like flavour, hence the German name Muskateller-Salbei. They are also used to flavour jams and jellies. Nowadays clary is grown in Europe mainly for the extraction of the essential oil which has a lavender-like fragrance and is used in perfumery. In cookery it is used for the same purposes as common sage, but is rarely found on the kitchen shelf.

Summer savory is treated as an annual herb up to 30 cm (1 ft) high with stem that becomes woody at the base and branches like a shrub. The linear-lanceolate, short-stalked leaves are dotted on both sides with glands. The flowering period is from July until the frost; the fruits are nutlets.

The old branches of elderberry bushes are sometimes attacked by the fungus Hirneola auricula-judae - a popular food in China and Japan.

About the Author:

You can grow herbs in your garden for cooking as well as decorative purpose.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

West End Marketplace in Dallas, Texas

By Haylee Landford

Growing up in Dallas, Texas proved to be a varying experience with unique places. Only when I came away to other places, did I appreciate the specialty of the places I had grown up with. The West End Marketplace remains a legend amongst all these in my childhood.

Our attention was actively engaged as school children during our many field trips to the West End. We visited all the many shops, including a Purple Shop, a 3-D art gallery, and a fudge factory. Our favorite was a joke shop that provoked many dares for the purchase of a sucker containing a tequila worm. We always ended the day at the bottom floor arcade that seemed to expanse the eternities.

The Dallas Alley, just outside the Marketplace was also filled with fun vendors, such as caricature paintings. My visits at night introduced me to specialty artists on the sidewalks. One particular man was bouncing to techno as he spray painted a colorful canvas with great speed and grace, finishing it off with a blast of flames. Watching him paint was just as artful as looking at the finished painting itself.

Witty street vendors would approach a group of us young people and offer me a flower on the condition that a young man in the group would give me a hug. After I received my hug, the vendor would turn to the boy and inform him that now he must purchase the flower for me. To this day, I have failed to retain possession of a flower from the West End, owning to the frugality of youthful boys.

The atmosphere is only complimented by the local cuisine at very close vicinity. The most worthwhile would be the Spaghetti Warehouse. The environment created at each individual table is enough to set it apart as a fascinating experience.

Getting to the important topic, the actual food, it stands far superior to most that I have sampled. I started with a spaghetti saturated in the homemade tomato sauce, also a chicken alfredo, and layers of lasagna, all with great satisfaction. The Spaghetti Warehouse remains a legend in the Dallas experience.

Great sadness rested upon me during my last visit to my home in Dallas. I took my fiance, like many family members who visited with us before to the West End. Most of the shops and places were boarded up and closed. I couldn't understand what would cause such desolation to the place of such great enjoyment and excitement in the past.

Why would people stop going to the West End Marketplace? It has been rejuvenating news that the magically place that captured many memories of my youth has been undergoing renovations with the hopes of returning to the prize of Dallas activity. My anticipation to return there and re-experience the captivating is hopefully shared by many locals and tourist alike so that we might again see the West End Marketplace flourish.

About the Author:

Haylee Landford has been an guest author for Land For Sale. Preparing the ground and planting a single plant is straightforward task, but when a large group or even the entire garden is to be planted, the work can seem impossible. however, there are some simple guidelines to follow that can eliminate must of the worry and reduce the effort.

If the roots are prevented from growing by compacted ground or by dryness or waterlogging, they will fail to penetrate their immediate boundaries, and, in turn, the plant itself will fail to grow and may ultimately die.

When you are choosing plants, you must consider the micro-climate of the site. Does your garden face the morning sun, in which ease overnight frosts will clear more quickly and it will soon warm up, or does it receive sun in the afternoon? Is it in a frost pocket, where the plants will be subjected to more frosts than gardens only a short distance away? Is the garden sheltered by nearby buildings? Do these buildings funnel cold winds or are there windbreaks that will protect all or part of the garden? Wind intensifies the effects of cold by driving it at greater force into the tissue of the plant, and evergreens suffer most in this respect.

All these factors affect the amount of time a plant is exposed to levels of cold that can cause damage to the stem, foliage or, less often, the roots. In the directory each entry includes a minimum temperature that can be tolerated by any plant. If a plant is particularly prone to damage by spring frosts - as are hydrangeas and pieris.

For a single plant dig a hole lm (about 3ft) across, first removing the topsoil and, if necessary, turf to a depth of 25cm (10in) and storing this on a board alongside the hole. Then the lower 25cm (loin) - more if you can - should be dug over and a good quantity of organic material added. Add some more organic material to the removed topsoil before it is returned to the planting hole.

If you need to prepare a larger area and cannot cope with the double digging by hand, you might want to hire a mechanical mini-digger. The principle is the same, however: remove the topsoil from a trench across the area to be dug and store it close to the far end of the area being prepared but not actually on it. The trench needs

About the Author:

In garden planning, arrange the garden flowers together in the correct manner is important.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

Sumach

By Jimmy Huett

In the Middle Ages the rose was called the 'flower of flowers' and from that time dates the recipe for the then popular dish called `Rosee'.

This consisted of a capon perfumed with rose petals and flavoured with almonds, sugar and saffron. In society rose sugar was a favoured sweetener and rose water was used to rinse the fingers at banquets.

Syrup prepared by mixing honey and rose petals was prescribed for 'the weak, ill, phlegmatic, melancholic and choleric'. To this day rose petals are used locally, particularly in the Near East, as a fragrant admixture to foods and beverages.

They are used sliced on bread and butter, chopped or grated in salads and as an accompaniment to cheeses and salamis. They arc best eaten raw. Radishes are wholesome, for besides mustard oil they contain Vitamins B and C and many mineral substances.

It is a lengthy and unpleasant process, best done with gloved hands, for the hairs cause an itching sensation if they come in contact with the skin. Hips for making jam, marmalade and wine must be fully ripe and picked when they have become softened after the first frosts. The clog rose is widely distributed throughout Europe up to altitudes of 1,000 m (3,300 ft) and therefore there is no need to grow it in the garden. It may be found alongside hedges in pastures, on sunny banks and at the edges of woodlands. It is perennial, growing up to 3 in (10 ft) high, and fully hardy. It was named Rosa canina from the Latin word `canis' meaning dog because the root was at one time used to treat rabies.

Some species of sumach are grown for the tannin-rich leaves used in tanning and dyeing. The related stag's horn sumach (R. typhina) is often grown in Europe as a specimen tree. These can be used to control the amount of sunlight, water and wind coming into contact with plants, which determines their health. For instance, the way plants are grouped creates a microclimate, since the proximity of one plant may reduce the water, sun and wind received by its neighbour.

While in a hot climate a patio should be sited to catch a cooling breeze, in more exposed areas it should offer shelter from the wind. Design can be as basic as this.

Before ordering new plants or making changes in the layout of your garden consider the fundamental climatic conditions of your region, any significant local differences, and finally your garden's own microclimate: that is, the small variations within the overall climate particular to your own garden, caused by the shade or protection given by a neighbouring building or a group of trees, for example.

Although a panoramic view is a great asset, the site from which you enjoy it is often exposed and windswept. As well as offering shelter, planting in the foreground (right) may improve such a view by breaking it up into a series of images. A wall with a window in it (far right) performs a similar function and literally frames the view

Although sufficient wind is therefore desirable to prevent frost developing, high wind speeds can result in the atmosphere trying to make more water evaporate from the leaves than can be supplied from the roots. This is known as water stress and it stunts the growth of plants. Of course, too much wind can also have a more directly disastrous effect by uprooting plants.

By contrast, the design shown on the right holds the eye within the garden, with the pool and fountain creating an internal point of interest garden. So the curved bed (in the right foreground of the picture) has been kept deliberately low to allow a view through to the neighbouring garden and the trees.

About the Author:

Selecting suitable plants that suit to the climate of the region of your garden is important in garden planning.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

Parsley

By Jason Ledger

A Neapolitan pizza would be incomplete without oregano. This plant is native to the temperate and subtropical regions of Eurasia, but it grows wild as far north as central Scandinavia and the northern parts of the former USSR as well as in North America.

In the first century B.C. the largest producer of olive oil was Italy, where the olive tree was introduced by the Greeks. Olives, as we know them today in the form used to flavour dishes typical of the Mediterranean region, were not known at that time.

Though a traditional flavouring of Italian cookery, oregano is widely used throughout Europe and is commonly available in shops. It is one of the most widely-used seasonings in Mexico, perhaps because it grows wild there too. It is generally used dried, even though the fresh herb has a more penetrating flavour. It is very good togethei- with tomatoes, cheese, vegetables (especially beans), meat and fish.

Crushed parsley seeds may be used for flavouring instead of the leaves, though this is not a common practice. Parsley leaves are an important component of bouquet garni and a common ingredient of a great variety of commercial sauces.

In cookery the ripe seeds arc used to make poppy-seed cakes and fillings for pastries. Cooking and baking makes their pleasant, nut-like flavour more pronounced. Poppy-seeds are also sprinkled on rolls and buns. Ground seeds are added to pungent herb mixtures not only for their flavour but also to improve the consistency and increase the weight of the mixtures. This is much better than diluting them with starchy flour, as is often done by European producers.

The olive is raised commercially nowadays throughout the whole Mediterranean region. In the 16th century it was introduced to South and Central America and to California

About the Author:

To manage a successful herb garden, you must know about the tip in herb gardening.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall

Reef tanks supplies and maintaining

By Rotem Gavisg

Reef tanks are usually kept at a temperature between 25 and 27 C (75-80 F). Reef tanks are beautiful and exotic and for some of us a piece of nature.

The primary filtration for reef aquariums usually comes from the use of large amounts of live rock which come from various rubble zones around existing reefs. Researchers are finding that saltwater fish aquariums have therapeutic health benefits. The tanks are usually constructed from either glass or acrylic.

With advances in modern aquariums it's recently became possible to have a piece of coral reef at home and enjoy it in the privacy of your living room without getting wet with saltwater aquarium. A reef aquarium or reef tank is an aquarium containing live corals and other animals associated with coral reefs. Unlike the marine aquarium, the main purpose of which is to house various types of fish, the true stars of the reef tank are the corals and other invertebrates.

As the aquariums we maintain contain more and more diverse animal life, the need for more complete additives becomes more of a necessity, and the make-up of these additives has to be more geared to the new type of aquariums, in order to satisfy the requirements of all the animal life we now keep.

Water movement is important in the reef aquarium or reef tanks with different types of coral requiring different flow rates. Building water momentum using a gyre is an efficient method to increase flow, thus benefiting coral respiration and photosynthesis. Some corals such as the Mushroom Coral and Coral Polyps require very little light to thrive " conversely, LPS coral such as Brain coral, Bubble Coral, Elegance Coral, Cup Coral, Torch Coral, and Trumpet Coral require moderate amounts of light, and Small Polyp Stony Corals (SPS) such as Acropora Coral, Montipora, Porites, Stylopora and pocillopora require high intensity lighting.

Stony corals, which are defined by their calcerous calcium carbonate skeletons (CaCO3), are the focus of many advanced reef keepers. These corals require additional attention to water chemistry, especially maintenance of stable and optimal calcium, carbonate, and pH levels.

A reef aquarium requires appropriately intense lighting, turbulent water movement, and more stable water chemistry than fish-only marine aquaria. Nano reefs (small tanks with corals) are very commonly sold as complete kits which contain the tank, stand, power compact T5, T8, PL lamps or Metal Halide lighting, protein skimmer, UV sterilizer, 3 or more stage filtration, a heater and a water pump or power head. However, many Nano reef keepers decide to upgrade their tanks with better quality equipment such as a more powerful protein skimmer or lighting.

Nano reefs tanks require even more diligence with regard to water changes and attention to water chemistry because the small water volume provides little room for error. Care must be exercised when stocking these tiny tanks because too many inhabitants can easily overload the tank's ability to process wastes effectively.

About the Author:

Rotem Gavish is a fish expert, his expertise are in marine fish and other saltwater fish. Perversely, the saving may be greater in the countryside, since the distributive system favours large areas of population and often results in cheaper and more plentiful vegetables in towns. Naturally, the more vegetables you grow, the more economic the proposition becomes.

To give some indication of the amount of space which vegetables take up: an area of 84 sq m (300 sq ft) would provide a family of four with sufficient lettuces, runner beans, peas, carrots and turnips in summer, and with leeks, cabbages and sprouts in winter. But of course great pleasure can be obtained from growing your own produce, even if you do not have enough space to make the enterprise really economic, and the fresh taste of homegrown vegetables is reward in itself.

Lawn running right up to the flower beds is attractive, though maintenance is easier when a line of paving runs along the edge, so that mowing stops about 400 mm (1 ft 3 in) short of the border. Convenience of mowing should be taken into account when planning areas of grass. Allow room to turn the mowing machine and, if you plan a grass slope, bear in mind the maximum gradient of 1 : 1 or 45 ˚ for cutting with a hand mower and 1 : 1 or 33 for a smaller power-driven machine.

There are many varieties of lettuce worth growing and a few outdoor tomato plants in a sheltered place can be rewarding. Fruit bushes can be trained along a fence or grown against a wall, where they will benefit from the heat retained and gently released by the wall.

However, since all planting is important in drawing and directing the cyc, you should be thinking in terms of the approximate height and density of plant varieties; these should he selected for their overall impact in the design as much as for their purely horticultural interest. The width of beds and borders will obviously depend on the space you have, but bear in mind two general points. If beds or borders greatly exceed about two metres (a little over 6 ft) in width, it may prove difficult to hoe between the plants without trampling all over the bed. On the other hand, beds must be sufficiently wide to allow for an effective arrangement of plants. For example, if you want a herbaceous border which maintains a colour display for most of the year, you need enough space to arrange plants so that when one group stops flowering another takes its place.

About the Author:

The garden is liable to look somewhat unattractive you have good garden planning.

Brand Pile | Elite Fine | Store Mates | Minleys | Wealers | Conte Mall
