The Hess Road Wesleyan Church is passionate about the Great Commission. Our 2008/2009 missions budget is $33,000 (a bit more than 13% of our total budget). Below you will find a description of how that money is spent.

WESLEYAN WORLD MISSIONS
As a Wesleyan Church, we feel it is our responsibility to invest prayerfully and financially in Long-Term Wesleyan Missionaries. As a way of touching the world, we have decided to invest in 1 missionary or missionary family on each major continent. Each of the following partners will receive $2,500 from our congregation this year.

Africa: Rick & Eunice Cox

Asia: Melissa Gilbert

Australia: Chris & Melissa George

Europe: Chris & Wendy England

North America: Cory & Kris Thede

South America: Elliott & Dena Innes

NON-WESLEYAN MISSIONS
Of course there are a multitude of great non-Wesleyan missions we'd love to support, but the following is a list of such ministries that we are currently supporting:

HESS ROAD MISSIONS
Throughout the course of a church year, many opportunities to fulfill the Great Commission arise. It is, therefore, necessary to reserve a certain amount of the missions budget for discretionary spending. A large portion of this goes toward helping members of our own congregation go on short-term missions trips.

Sunday Service Schedule

Heritage Worship - 8:45 A.M.

At our Heritage Worship Service, you will experience rich tradition in music singing hymns accompanied by piano and organ. There is often solo or quartet music to enhance the worship experience followed by challenging messages from God’s Word to build a life of faithful devotion to Christ. This service is often quiet and contemplative, yet offers the participant a wonderful opportunity to connect with God’s people through fellowship. There is a staffed nursery available for this service.

Sunday School 10:00 A.M.

Celebration Worship - 11:00 A.M.

Our Celebration Service offers a worship experience built around contemporary praise and worship music. Our facilities are equipped with excellent sound and multi-media equipment to provide an atmosphere where one can experience a passionate connection with Christ. Worship is lead by our pastor along with a praise band and vocal worship ensemble. The teaching in this service is directed toward practical Christian growth as well as equipping believers to reach others for God’s Kingdom. A ministry for children is provided along with a staffed nursery.

Pastor Joe Payne

Pastor Joe Payne entered the ministry in 1993 as a second-career pastor. He was ordained in The Wesleyan Church in June of 2000 after completing combined study courses through Indiana Wesleyan University and Department of Education and The Ministry of The Wesleyan Church. His background prior to ministry was retail building products and home construction management. He and his wife, Sharon, have two daughters: Amy and Mindy. Pastor Joe is known for his unique and engaging style of teaching Christian living and also his passion for leading God’s people in uplifting worship. His hobbies include golfing and various shooting sports.

Pastor Matthew Rose

Pastor Matthew Rose was born in 1981 in Newfane, NY. He attended Hess Road Wesleyan Church throughout his childhood and was saved during Sunday School at an early age. Pastor Matthew was called into ministry during Houghton Family Camp in 1998. He attended Bethany Bible College in New Brunswick, Canada. After a six-month internship in Fillmore, NY, Matthew finished his last semester at Bethany and graduated in May of 2003. Soon after arriving home, Matthew came on staff here at Hess Road Wesleyan as the Assistant Pastor. He was ordained in September of 2005. On December 31st of 2008 Matthew and Katie (Olson) were married at the church.

The Wesleyan Church is an evangelical, Protestant denomination. We offer the good news that faith in Jesus Christ makes possible a wonderful personal relationship with God, a holy life empowered by His Spirit for witness and service, and assurance of eternal life in heaven. Our name is in honor of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, whose emphasis on a life of faith, self-discipline, and perfect love is our example. There are nearly 5,000 Wesleyan churches and missions in over 70 nations worldwide. In the United States and Canada alone, there are approximately 1,700 local congregations. As for the local church history:

1844- Hess Rd. Wesleyan Church was organized May 12, 1844 at Olcott, NY.

1878- Work on the original church building began and the church was incorporated.

1956- A rear annex was added.

1966- A foyer, nursery and office were added.

1973- The learning center was built.

1993- A new sanctuary was completed with a dedication ceremony In February 7th.

2003- A new parsonage was built near the church facilities.
