As most know Lind's my teenage daughter lost her dad Edwin Platt known as “Skip” to Family and Friends, Drowned the 13th of March off the shore of Santa Barbara, a tragedy, though also a true gathering of friends with Heart Felt Best Wishes.

So in the past week we attended the Funeral just off of Santa Barbara's famous State Street, Friday the 11th and the Heart Felt Memorial Service on the 12th at Shoreline Park overlooking the beach in Santa Barbara.

Thanks to Mary Ann, Owner and Captain of the Fishing Vessel ”Delilah“, who furnished the Shoreline Park reservation we had a memorable time. All of us including Linds, I Skip's Mom Betty, and 2 Sisters Nancy and Susan, plus my BFF Mashel, her Husband Jeffrey, and the Foreign Exchange Student they are hosting from Germany, we were able to mingle and share stories to all of You.

Thanks for Your Support and Best Wishes also to the Hash House Harriers of Santa Barbara for the Memorial Page for “Skip” also known as “Scatman”.

Skip's body was recovered yesterday only feet from where he entered the sea to rescue his boat. Many friends, fellow fishermen and boat owners, along with the runners group the Hash House Harriers (to which he belonged to for years) are rallying around to plan the most meaningful memorial for him.

At this time the plan is as follows:

Sunday, April 12th 2008 the Shoreline Park in Santa Barbara overlooking the sea has been rented for the gathering. There will be food drink and speakers. Afterwards a traditional seaman's trip out to sea to bless him, his life, and his spirit by giving wreaths, bouquets, rose petals and flowers into the sea.

Two days ago my daughters Dad's fiancee called our home around 6:45 PM and said she has just made a 911 call to report My daughters Dad, Edwub G Platt (AKA "Skip") had vanished from her sight.

His boat had freed ittself from the mooring and was drifting down the coastline. Somewhere around Padero Lane, (a special place to me when I lived near there)...he got out of the car stripped down to his skivvies and went swimming after his boat.

Thank you so much everyone for the outpouring of stories support understanding and prayers. It means a lot to us all. When others show compassion, especially to a stranger as many of you have done here it helps give us hope that we can continue on and...live for the living after the shock of all this has subsided. The SB County and Carpinteria CA Special Ops have been continuing their search weather permitting on a daily basis.

Also the many boat owners and captains of fishig boats are going every day to perform their independent searches. Some are equipped with undersea divers, special camera and fish finder equiptment which is state of the art.

A trust fund is being set up by The senior members of Skip's family on the easat coast and me (Sooz).

For us this is particularly difficult because the family on the east coast in Connecticut and in Florida are somewhat stumped at what to do next and when...since there is no body.

The Platt family has a special graveyard section to ittself in Milford Connecticut, going back over 5 generations to the landing of the Mayflower which ultimately is where Skip wished to go. When all is revealed this will be his final resting place.

Around here we are pretty rattled and grief stricken beyond words at present.

The Sassy Traveller, his baby was found in matchstick-sized pieces down the beach a ways and sadly he never resurfaced.

Not only his family in Connecticut, and Florida but we here in Bakersfield are devastated.

His friends, other fishhing boat owners and fishing buddies are performing their own searches, independent of search and rescue of Santa Barbara county, and are offering lots of support.

His sunny disposition, Hollywood smile and willingness to help anyone at any time is already vastly missed. The search will continue, but chances that he did not make it are pretty strong.

BIG Changes To Our Websites

Greetings friends from Sooz, here in Bakersfield California.
I'm exceedingly glad to see the temperatures are rising to the 70's again. It actually was 80 degrees Friday...a mere 3 days ago.
Now that WAS a record.

Of course I try to steer clear of weather topics when talking with my Mom in Port Townsend Washington and my sister in eastern Washington because they are still under the influence of winter weather. It wouldn't be fair to start blabbing of my joy in not having to wear a sweatshirt. They don't need to hear me gloating about the fine clear days and warm winds we have here right now, especially since they're not only wearing a sweatshirt there's usually a jacket on as well.

I have personally been on and off again working on JerSooz eBiz. The only working copy of the program we use for most of our websites in on Jer's machine. I have to wait till he's not home or busy with something else to get any website work done.

But I did slide in and write a new JerSooz Ezine. Jer came in behind me and lit it up to make a lot more interesting. Between the two of us we did it!!

Mom Anguishes Over Daughter

If you haven't seen me around for a while it is because I went from working 12 hours a day 7 days a week to being an at home Mom worrying about my 15 year old daughter.

It seems like yesterday as I escorted my daughter to her first day of regular school. She had been expelled for a series of note writing, disturbing the class and absences, and sent to what is called 'Community School'. This is Kern County's solution to keeping expelled children off the streets while continuing their education.
Once back in regular school my little angel, on her 2nd day was caught with a group of kids who were smoking. Even though she was not smoking they found 2 cigaretts on her person.
The school policy is to suspend when these are the circumstances. But she was already on House Arrest/probation for an incident which happened a week past involving trespassing, so as we waited for her probation officer to arrive she quietly said, "they're going to lock me up aren't they?"
The answer came when the P.O. came. We went into a private room where she, and her school back pack were searched. She was read her rights and then taken to Juenile Hall until the court date.
We had options but I chose 15 days there then she would be released to me, still on probation and she is to be enrolled in a private academy where they specialize in these sort of cases.
Right now I blame myself for how this escalated to this point and hope and pray we can wrap this up with no further difficulties.
For everyone out there who reads this please, heed the warning ssigns and be as proactive as possible in communicating the implications of a simple cut class, and any activity which is against the law or your parents wishes.
