Moving Day Made Easy!

MOVING into your new apartment can be quite the endeavor, but there are 6 ways to make the moving day a breeze. We wanted to help you out on your upcoming move with these great tips for moving day that will have you all moved into your new apartment with ease....

1. Before moving anything in, make sure that you walk through your apartment and inspect it for damage.

2. Mark each moving box with a piece of tape that displays the room that it belongs in or what is inside. Be sure to mark fragile items as "Fragile" too!

3. Check your new refrigerator and cabinets before you start stocking them with food. They're much easier to clean when they are empty.

4. On moving day make sure to be considerate of your neighbors. Don't leave trash all around or block parking spaces. Try to keep noise down and not move late into the night.

5. Pack yourself a kit of the essentials that you will need upon first moving into your apartment. We suggest toilet paper, bottled water, and paper towels.

6. Have fun and remember that moving into a new apartment is a great adventure with a blank canvas!

2pm-End (Behind pool/If weather conditions will not allow it to be outside then it will be in the Clubhouse)

April 16th-Juice and muffins will be served as you leave through the gate. Complementary breakfast for those on the go!

April 25th-Sleep in a little this morning but awake in time to eat a delicious brunch of egg casserole, sausage, pancakes, fruit, and juice. *Also, a rep from Premier Jewelry will be available to show samples of jewelry; jewelry orders may be placed with rep and if interested learn about job opportunity.* *Also, a rep from Arbonne will be available to talk about RE9 antiaging and will also have other skin products available.*

You wouldn't buy a car without finding out what kind of gas mileage it gets. The same goes for rental property and electric bills.

If you're planning to rent and will be responsible for paying your own utility bills, take time to ask a few questions so you'll be able to budget appropriately.

Modern heating and cooling systems are very efficient. But some older apartment complexes may rely on outdated furnaces or electric baseboard heating. These electric resistance heating systems cost about twice as much to operate as do modern systems. Older apartments also may not be adequately weatherized, and may require more energy to keep comfortable.

Ask your apartment manager, a former tenant or your future neighbors about utility costs. Or, provide the address to an OG&E customer service representative at 800.272.9741 and they can tell you more about the average electricity cost.

February 14th-Valentines Day!

February 16th-Pizza Night! Come enjoy the evening with other residents as Pappa John's single topping pizza will be served along with soda and water! 6pm to 7pm (clubhouse)

February 21st-Welcome Visits! "Knock knock", "Who's there?"...The Resident Activity Directors will greet new residents! (your home)

February 26th-Build your own Nachos! No need to cook tonight, build your own nachos with fellow residents. (chips, cheese, sour cream, beef, salsa, black olives, guacamole) 6pm to 7pm (clubhouse)

Patio Decorating Contest

We will be having a Patio/Balcony Decorating Contest during the month of December, with juding to take place on December 19th, 2008. If you are interested in entering the compedition, call the office to register by December 15th, 2008. It's a great way to share in the holiday spirit and make our community a festive place to be during the holiday season. So dig out your decorations and let your lights shine! Good luck!

Beware of unlicensed solicitors..

Protect your pocketbook from swindlers. If a salesperson is selling items door to door in your neighborhood, ask to see his or her solicitors or peddlers license. The City requires that solicitors carry a police-issued photo ID and pass and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation background check. If the salesperson does not have a license, buy beware. Churches and educational programs are exempt from the ordinance.

If you get a knock on your door from a soliciter, please contact the leasing office immediately.

Please Recycle Plastic Bags...

About four trillion plastic bags are made each year, and it takes decades for each bag to decompose in landfills. Although plastic bags are not accepted in the City's Curbside Recycling Program, you can still recycle at most grocery stores.

City to collect ammunition, computers and tires on October 4th at State Fairgrounds..

The Household hazardous Waste Collection Facility will host a special collection for ammunition, computers, and tires from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday October 4th on the south side of the State Fairgrounds.

The collection is open to Oklahoma City residents only. Recyclers must bring their current Oklahoma city water bill stub to prove residency.
Wheels, rims, and oversized tires such as equipment or farm implement tires will not be accepted.

Businesses wanting to recycle hazardous waste should contact the Department of Environmental Quality at 702-5100.

Cool Down and Slim Down!

This Cappuccino Cooler deliciously replaces a calorie-heavy milkshake

for a hot-day treat!

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons instant coffee
2/3 cup boiling water
1 pint vanilla nonfat frozen yogurt
Cinnamon, to taste

Dissolve instant coffe into boiling water,
and cool. Place frozen yogurt in a blender,
slowly add coffee and whip until creamy.
Pour into glasses and sprinkle with
Cinnamon. Cool!

For the safety of you, your family, and your neighbors, it is very important that batteries remain in the smoke detectors at all times. If your smoke alarm goes off due to cooking or the heat of the bathroom shower, you only need to take a small towel and fan it towards the detector. This air will make it stop beeping. Please don't risk lives; keep the batteries intact in your smoke detector.

Fire Alarm Sirens: Please do not attempt to take these down from the wall. If you siren is alarming, there might be a potential problem in your building. Whether it be a malfunction, or an actual fire, we have probably already received notification from the fire department; the sirens are armed. If you feel there is a malfunction, contact emergency maintenance. If you pull the siren out of the wall, and there is a fire, you could possibly put your whole building in jeopardy! This is very important!

For maintenance emergencies, call 405-755-3800 and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Please remember to leave your name, apartment number, phone number and problem requiring attention when calling for any emergency maintenance need. Examples of emergency situations include:
1. No heat in the winter; no air conditioning in the summer.
2. A plumbing leak or sewer stoppage which might damage personal property.
3. No electricity.
4. Any condition which might cause a fire.
5. No water.
6. Refrigeration failure.
7. An odor of gas.
8. Apartment lockout.

Put Trash in it's Place

We want to keep our community a beautiful place for you to live and call home, but we need your help. Please remember to put your trash in he dumpster and do not set it alongside the dumpster or outside your doorway. If you have children take trash to the dumpsters, please make sure they're tall enough to get the bag inside. Also, it is very helpful if residents pick up stray items of trash, like bottles, cans, and paper, and dispose of them properly. If everyone pitches in , we can keep our community neat and clean.

Water Energy & $$ Saving Tips

Minimize water use while brushing teeth, shaving, and washing hands in bathroom sinks.

Ouch, not so hot! Lower the temperature of your water heater. This not only saves energy, but reduces the chance of scalding. A 10 degree Fahrenheight reduction in temperature saves about 13 percent of your water heating costs!

Replacing older shower heads with low-flow units could save a family of four as much as 15,000 gallons of water per year, reducing water heating costs. We here at Stoneleigh, already have low-flow shower heads!
