Am I Polyester?

It's been great when I met Arif from the band Polyester recently. We had a long chat about music, guitar and other things. He's also inviting me to join Polyester and since I'm not in any band right now so I grab the chance. But we're still on the early stage and hopefully everything will settle soon.

For the first run, Arif has already prepared few songs and we had a nice first time playing together.

I've always admire his vocals and not to forget, Naim (bass player) and Qap (keyboard player), my former bandmates also join us. It makes me easier to communicate with them since I've been with these two guys for a long time.

Peavey Rage 158 & Crate GX 15

I'm impress with the distorted sound. I can easily get a good metal sound (high gain).

I just bought 2 used practice amplifiers. The first one is Peavey Rage 158. It using Peavey Blue Marvel speaker. The clean sound is warm and the distorted sound not so bad. The other one is Crate GX 15. It using Crate 8" speaker. I'm impress with the distorted sound. I can easily get a good metal sound (high gain).

Both amps have no reverb effect. The Peavey is Made in China while the Crate is Made in US. Both is still in working condition.

This is the picture of 1969 Fender Swinger.

"The Fender Swinger (also known as the Fender Musiclander and Fender Arrow – as the "Swinger" name is usually missing from the headstock) was a short-lived electric guitar model released by Fender in 1969, with few ever made. The Swinger was merely an attempt by CBS (which had bought the company in 1965) to get money out of unused factory stock by combining unused bodies from the failed Fender Bass V with parts from the Fender Musicmaster. Another attempt to use excessive stock was the Fender Custom (aka Fender Maverick). It was marketed as another cheaper, short-scale 'student' type guitar, but never seriously promoted, and low in popularity as a result.

It was however used by Tina Weymouth of the Talking Heads in live performances and can be seen in their famous movie Stop Making Sense. It has also been used by Ben Kweller live, and saw the bulk of the guitar work on his most recent self-titled album.

Today, a Fender Swinger is a collectors’ item."

Price increased, that's for sure!

Malaysia petrol rate increased! I wonder what will happen after the 'next shipment' of imported musical instruments here in Malaysia. Price increased, that's for sure! Usually, the next shipment will be at the end of year. Well, let see... If this thing really happen, then maybe we'll see China & Indonesian made guitar at the price of Korean made guitar now.

I also wonder will Mydin, Tesco, Jusco bla bla bla maintain their low rates/prices.

My new old stock Jackson PS-1

I've bought a new guitar. 1996 production Jackson PS-1. It's a new old stock. Dark blue colour, alder body, maple fast neck, rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, vintage tremolo, Jackson original machine head & pick ups. The guitar is made in Japan & comes with hardcase.

The only thing that I'll replace is the pick ups. The stock pickup is low output.

It's a great guitar. Value for money. The neck is so comfortable and easy to play. The only thing that I'll replace is the pick ups. The stock pickup is low output. Again I'm going for Duncan JB on bridge (my all time fav bridge pu) and maybe little '59 for neck pick up. Other than the pick ups, everything is just fine. This guitar is definitely one of the best guitar I have!

My SX project guitar now equipped with Seymour Duncan JB Jr. bridge pickup & Dunlop Dual Design Straplok System.

My next modification will be the tuning pegs. I've been thinking to upgrade to Sperzel locking tuners.

My next guitar project, SX Cobra

I'm just getting a SX guitar, Cobra series (strat copy). The guitar is in black colour. I'll upload the picture soon. The neck and body is good. It sounds great too! The guitar is quite heavy. 22 Jumbo frets. Poison snake inlay. Single coil pickups.

JB is always my choice of bridge pickup. It produces sweet warm raw tones.

I'll be going to change the bridge pickup first. I've been thinking to get the Seymour Duncan JB Jr. pickups. The Seymour Duncan JB Jr. is a twin coil design pickup that gives you the character of Duncan's popular JB Model Humbucker in a single coil size. JB is always my choice of bridge pickup. It produces sweet warm raw tones. One of the best pickups suit for metal guitar player.

Next upgrade will be the tuning pegs.....
