She's a couple of weeks late, she was officially 15 months on Dec 12. She is 25 lbs, 75th percentile for weight and height so she is very proportionate and still built like a supermodel. She still isn't walking but I'm in no hurry and obviously neither is she. Her legs have been checked out and they are fine and I don't know anyone who doesn't walk because they never learned how. She cruises along the furniture and yesterday stood up against a pillow, held her hands up and did a little booty shake dance. She wouldn't do it again I guess the moment had passed, I'm lucky I got to see it. She loves cars and trucks and all animals, especially cats I think. She really likes Lilly's Littlest Pet Shop animals. They say they are for 5 and up I think though. Probably because they have magnets inside. She loves them so much though.

Here is a list of Lydia's words:

Mama
DaDa
Da (could mean anyone)
cheese
hello (hewwo)
hi
kitty
kitty cat
rabbit
dog
meow
duck
quack quack
baa
mooo (mmmmmmmm)
boo
pretty
Santa
tree
Hada (grandpa Kramp)
Lilly
sticker
Sponge Bob

I know I am leaving some out. These are the most frequent and most understandable. Lately she will look at you and say a sentence of what sounds to be pure jibberish but she must think it means something, or maybe I am just not listening hard enough. I will try harder.

She still doesn't watch tv but we have a Sponge Bob Christmas doll and when I pulled him out of the box and showed her and said Sponge Bob she immediately repeated me.

Lydia really likes stickers as well. She got a few sticker books for Christmas, though she has to be closely monitored when they are brought out. She likes to eat books and stickers sometimes.

One of her big hit Christmas presents is her little slide. She really just started to slide on it on her own today. She climbs up using one knee and one foot then when she gets to the top she pulls one foot all the way out in front of her and the other only half way before she spins onto her stomach and goes down feet first on her stomach. It's a little nerve wracking but I managed to be mostly hands off this evening and let her experiment. I did put a row of pillows next to the wall. I think I might put some big floor pillows on the other side next time. It'll tire her out even more to have to crawl over them to get back to the steps.

She also got a great wagon with a seatbelt, cup holders and storage under the seat. Because of the extreme cold lately we've only gotten to go on two rides but it did great in the snow and this weekend we will probably get to go on a few rides. She just relaxed and sand a little song while I pulled. I can't wait to take her and Luke to the zoo in the wagon!

That's all for now. Lydia is sleeping and I want some mommy bath time.

Ducky http://www.blogger.com/profile/11499660332911002431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881976712709292558.post-63312400912811713662007-11-18T20:16:00.000-08:002007-11-18T20:18:15.112-08:00At the risk of waking her up again...One more update. I noted that Lydia's first tooth broke through on September 27. As of today, November 18, she officially has 6 teeth. No wonder we're not getting any sleep.

Ducky http://www.blogger.com/profile/11499660332911002431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881976712709292558.post-48040195252988822502007-11-18T19:33:00.000-08:002007-11-18T20:12:15.657-08:00AfterthoughtsOther things Lydia is doing:

Tickling me and Brian. Either with her usually too long nails or by dive-bombing our bellies with her face. She even said "TICKLE" today.

Laughing when she farts. I love this! Also, yesterday Brian and I were discussing a recent prayer in school story from the paper and I said, let's have a moment of silence and Lydia let out a huge fart. I guess we know where she stands on the issue.

Not walking yet on her own but walking when you hold her hand, or cruising all along the furniture and walls. She also LOVES climbing the stairs and sliding down (really fast) on her belly. She also loves climbing up and sliding down the slide at work. She has a slide here but I her to put her up on it, she sure slides down fast though.

What I am worrying about:

I got a phone call at 6pm on Friday. Answered it one second too late, called the number right back and got a recording from the nurse at Lydia's Dr's office that they don't answer the phones after 5p.m. Friday and not again until Monday a.m. unless an emergency. Checked my voice mail and the nurse said "It's not an emergency but want to speak to you regarding Lydia's test results"

WTF? I guess I will find out tomorrow.

2. Lydia was shivering to day when we went to Trader Joe's. She had been sleeping in the van but the heater was on. I'm worried that she's getting dehydrated even though she has not been draining much from her nose. Tried to give her water but she likes to spit it out and pour it out. She drank a little though, and of course lots of ni ni at bedtime.

Typing is waking her. Crazy how she can hear it all the way down the hall.

There is so much more she is doing but I will have to think of it later.

Ducky http://www.blogger.com/profile/11499660332911002431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881976712709292558.post-34899861376876629372007-11-18T19:13:00.000-08:002007-11-18T19:31:53.236-08:00Nice!Yep, that is Lydia's new favorite word. She pets the kitty and her Daddy and her toys, occasionally even her mom and says "niiiice" It actually sounds sort of like "nishe". She's cute that way. Other than that most of her words are garbled right now though she talks a lot. She trying out a lot of words once and when you ask her to repeat it she refuses. She knows what everything is. I can't believe how much she knows. Last night she awoke at 3 and was all wide awake and bushy tailed. I was groggy and grumpy and said, hold on a sec Lydia, let me see what time it is. She reached over me to the bedside table and handed me the clock! It's a small battery powered egg shaped clock from Brookstone called a Bob. Sort of like a cross between a weeble wobble and a clock. A pretty cool little gadget, anyway I was amazed at my smart little squirrel.

I put up 3 Christmas trees this weekend. The big one in the living room, a small one on the kitchen table and the pink feather tree in the bathroom. I decorated the living room one last night, then I did a dance and song about how all the neighbors were jealous because we had our tree up already. Brian said we were too early so I did a dance and song about how he was jealous. I'm not sure of what but too early my ass! Lydia is going to have so much fun at Christmas! She and her cousin are going to be adorable. I only wish my Mom and Steve could come up. They talked about coming for T.day but aren't going to make it. I hate having to be with one family or the other.

ANYWAY, THIS IS LYDIA'S BLOG YO!
Lydia had her 1 year check up about a month and a half late. It took way longer than I expected to get our insurance going but we are all good on that now. For the first time she was totally freaked out by the doctor. She cried through the entire exam. The shots sucked of course and then we had to get blood taken since she was anemic at her 9 month. They said that since she was a year they take it from her arm instead of her finger. This was not fun. Brian sat with her in his lap in the lab chair and I had to hold her arms down while they put the needle in. Poor pea. No, not fun at all. She is still a big girl but no longer a chunk. She's 75% in both weight and height and 50% for her bean. So proportionate like a little super model!

Lydia's got some congestion right now and acts like I am trying to kill her if I have to suction her nose. Brian was reading her some books and I hear a little cry and then some laughing and then they came in and he said "I sucked her nose" and I was like "Why the hell isn't she screaming?" So he gets that job from now on.

I am making a wish list for Lydia for Christmas. I really don't want her to have any more electronic crap. I'll put a link to it on here later. Right now I have to go play gin with my mom.

More to come...Stay tuned...

Ducky http://www.blogger.com/profile/11499660332911002431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881976712709292558.post-49162015750087300852007-09-27T13:22:00.000-07:002007-09-27T13:23:13.909-07:00Breaking News!Lydia's first tooth has broken through!!!

Ducky http://www.blogger.com/profile/11499660332911002431noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881976712709292558.post-63446682308504431162007-09-19T11:32:00.000-07:002007-09-19T11:35:49.160-07:00Confusion"Nigh Nigh" (boob) "Nom Nom" (food) and "Na Na" (banana) sound really similar to each other. Lydia was looking through a book of hers which has pictures of household things. She turned to the page with the food on it and pretended to pick up a pinch of a tomato and eat it. She said "Non" (a variation on nigh nigh which means food I guess) and "ate" it. Then she offered daddy some.

I can't tell you how much I love that sweet, sweet little package.

Ducky http://www.blogger.com/profile/11499660332911002431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881976712709292558.post-63072161392418052992007-09-15T16:31:00.001-07:002007-09-15T16:31:18.911-07:00Birthday Girl

Birthday Girl
Originally uploaded by duckykramp
Lydia had a wonderful birthday but I've hardly had time to reflect, much less post about it. I woke up at 5 am on the 13 with what I thought was food poisoning, but now my baby has contracted whatever ugly virus it is. Luckily the worst of it only lasted about 10 hours for me and the rest was just stomach pains. She only threw up 3 times this morning, but that was enough to traumatize Brian and I for life. She's been barf free for 11 hours now and is taking a long nap. She's not had a fever at all and I've been nursing her and Brian giving her water every so often. She even ate a little applesauce and a few bites of saltine. I'm going to try to get her to eat some banana when she wakes up.

She felt well enough earlier to play her new piano a little today. She really loves it. That reminds me, I get to post her birthday loot!

OH, about her birthday. We had a small gathering at Frame Park. It was a nice, sunshiny day and only in the upper 60's. Gorgeous! At one point, when Lydia was opening her presents, an ice cream truck pulled into the parking lot and starting playing Happy Birthday. He drove back and forth for about 5 minutes which was really neat. There are a couple of photos on Flickr and I'll post a couple more one of these days soon.

Ducky http://www.blogger.com/profile/11499660332911002431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881976712709292558.post-89317917941403859632007-09-08T20:02:00.000-07:002007-09-08T20:08:18.373-07:00Hi!Lydia just did the cutest thing! She has a toy phone (an old fashioned one, not a cell) She crawled over to it and picked up the receiver and said her favorite word! "Hi!"

I have a few pictures to post but I'll have to get to it tomorrow. We just picked my mom up at the airport and this baby is up WAY past her bedtime.

Ducky http://www.blogger.com/profile/11499660332911002431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881976712709292558.post-61211577822523576942007-09-07T20:54:00.001-07:002007-09-07T21:03:12.517-07:00Something new and cuteLydia started pointing about a month and a half ago. In the last couple of days she has started pointing to things and calling them something, I think. Mostly she calls everything "thaz". I'm not sure if this means "that" or "this" or "tree". I always point to trees and houses and cars and other things and tell her what they are so maybe she's doing that. She really enjoys it when I point to trees or go hug a tree or hold her up to touch a tree.

She was very cute today pointing out of the car, which we were in most of the day and she was a very good sport about it. We did stop for a quick trip to the Henry Villas Zoo. A very quick trip actually as we go there at 4:15 and they close at 5. We had a very intimate conversation with a beautiful orangutan which made the trip totally worth it. We were just about 2 1/2 feet away with only chain link separating us. Lydia and I loved her. I'm not so sure she loved us but she stared and listened to us tell her how beautiful she was. I forgot that I shouldn't have made so much eye contact with her but next time we go to see her I will remember.

Ducky http://www.blogger.com/profile/11499660332911002431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881976712709292558.post-67132921185168324792007-09-07T20:46:00.000-07:002007-09-07T20:49:37.313-07:00From All Things DuckyI put this in my blog the other day, it really belongs here:

Brian and *Iggy went for a walk and I got to go do a little birthday shopping. Very little actually. I don't want to spoil all the surprises but I found a really cute little MP3 player for babies. It actually plays 14 entire songs with actual children's voices singing them AND the children have little british accents which is completely adorable! Brian's mom is queen of the yard sale and will buy anything with a button that makes noise...(trying not to complain, grumble grumble, trying to be gracious...) I think quiet toys that allow the babies inner voice to develop are better for the most part however this was so perfect for Lydia, who loves to sing and loves to hear children, that I couldn't resist. Also, we don't really like the idea of her having a toy cell phone. Actually I don't mind all that much, except for all the horrible noise they make, but Brian is adamant about it. (he won't carry one himself btw) Every time Lydia goes upstairs she and her cousin fight over his toy cell phone (which was actually a re-gift that we gave him, maybe she knows that even though she was 1 month old when I mailed it to him). I think she will like her MP3 player just as much.

*When Lydia is upset and complaining she talks. Pretty much the only words you can distinguish are "Nigh Nigh" which means my boobs, and "Iggy". We don't know why she says "Iggy" but now she has been dubbed "Iggy" by the fam. I asked Ingrid if she minds and she loves it, so "Iggy" it is.

Ducky http://www.blogger.com/profile/11499660332911002431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881976712709292558.post-91857028134717369062007-09-07T18:32:00.000-07:002007-09-07T20:27:54.038-07:00Let the Wild Rumpus Start!!!Super Grandma comes into town tomorrow for Lydia's birthday. We're gonna party.

It's looking more and more like Lydia will be getting a birthday tooth! She is still bald-headed in the mouth, my little gummy bear. It looks like it would be painful but she hasn't really complained yet, which is good because I am one to hold out on the Tylenol until there is a temp of 103 involved.

Today Lydia had her first chile con queso. She had it in Madison, WI, which is totally weird. It was good, though she preferred her beans and rice.

Out on a country road in Oregon,WI we stopped and I got a bag of apples for $1.50. I just put the money, in quarters, in the "on your honor" box that was sitting on the cart. There were about 6 different varieties of apples. I finally picked the "Liberty all purpose apple. I figured some would get used for cooking and some eaten raw, also these were the prettiest. I washed one and gave it to Lydia in the car. She was so proud. She just turned it over and over in her hands and looked at it and then smiled at me and then looked at it some more. She tried to bite it with her little gummy mouth but that didn't work. I bit it for her and scraped some off for her to eat. She loved it!

Ducky http://www.blogger.com/profile/11499660332911002431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881976712709292558.post-52308929522125449162007-08-26T20:15:00.000-07:002007-08-26T20:29:36.636-07:00Regarding the name of Lydia's blog"Hi" is Lydia's favorite word. She will say "Hi" to you. She will say "Hi" to DaDa. She will say "Hi" to a dog (doggy or "Aduh" which is her cousin Gabe's word for any animal and she has picked it up, or learned it so she can talked to him in his own language. She's as smart as a gorilla my little girly), or kitty or tree or cloud or banana (anan or anana or ananananana).

She will say "hi" to me, but not "Hi Momma". She doesn't really say Momma. She HAS said it in the past. If she is really upset and wants me she MIGHT say "MAAAAWWWWMMM" all drawn out, but usually just says "Nigh Nigh" (which lately sounds more like Nigh Na) Which is Lydia speak for wanting to nurse. She took the fact that we nurse when going "Night Night" and applied it to my boobies. I'm officially blaming Brian for the no Mommy saying. He doesn't call me Mommy often around her. I hope she doesn't start calling me Duck.

A few nights ago I was trying to get Lydia to go back to sleep at around 1 in the a.m. We were laying in the bed whispering. I was trying to get Lydia to say "I love you Mommy" and all she would do was stare toward the ceiling and wave her hand and say over and over again "Hi Kitty". She is definitely my little weirdo.

Ducky http://www.blogger.com/profile/11499660332911002431noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881976712709292558.post-38159235192846978092007-08-26T20:14:00.000-07:002007-08-26T20:15:12.135-07:00Here's Lydia's weblog.
