While most webmasters will know of sites like Digg, stumbleupon etc - did you know there are actually masses of Social bookmarking sites out there. Adobe takes a leap into online Apps with Buzzword

In a recent spate of technology firms offering free web based software – Adobe have joined the throng by aquiring the online word processor Buzzword.
The announcement comes shortly after Microsoft released Microsoft Office Live workspace for beta.
On demand online applications is a strong trend within software companies. Whilst it’s considered that the market is still in it’s infancy the potential is huge and that companies, such as Adobe, are positioning themselves for future rewards.
While Adobe’s foray into the marketplace, other vendors are attempting to answer the conundrum of online and offline application. Google is offering a tool that allow the user to access documents and software even when the PC is offline and it looks as though consumers will increasingly look for flexability in online tools.
How Adobe plans to position itself here is unknown however it does plan to integrate Buzzword with some of its other portfolio.

Understanding how Google works is one of the fundemental steps in achieving great SERPS performance - there's a lot of talk on forums such as http://www.webmasterworld.com/ about just how the google machine operates but very little is often official - merely speculation.

Age of Domain and relevancy in SERPS

In one of our recent posts on SEO Tools we posted a couple of links to some tools that you might find useful in your quest to push your site up the rankings - of these - we found the Age of top 100 Websites with Backlinks Tool particularly useful.

Age of Domain should not be overlooked in your SEO analysis - as it can be a key influence in determining rankings - Jim Boykin has an excellent article on the subject http://www.jimboykin.com/seo-new-site/ (also have a read of the talkbak to check out the wide ranging user views on the subject!!).

Whilst domain age will not kill off SERPS completely - we've had many a site produce search results whilst still being reactively new - I think it does matter when you start aiming for the more competitive keyword market and as such you'll for those of you with new sites you'll need to mitigate the issue with your SEO strategy.

There probably arn't many out there who arnt' aware of the traffic potential that sites such as www.digg.com can offer - social networking sites that share bookmarks can (if used right) draw some good traffic to your site.

HTML Color Codes

HTML Color codes neednt be difficult to understand. In HTML colors are normally referred to in one of two ways - either by name e.g. "White" or by a hexadecimal code eg "#FFFFFF".

What are Hex Codes?

Hex codes are made up of 3 pairs of alphanumeric characters - these three pairs represent the combination of Red Green Blue used to produce the color.

Colors can be used to great effect with CSS and there are a variety of style attributes that can be used. For example

* Background-color - used by CSS to set a background color of a div
* Color - used to specific the color of text used within a div

Safe HTML colors

In the past where colors displayed by browsers was more of an issue a list of 216 Web Safe Colors was produced as a Web standard. This list included a wide ranging pallette (which can be see at http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_colors.asp). These days this is less of an issue and sites such as http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html show pallettes of over 1000 colors (as ever thought ensure that you test your pages with different browsers to ensure your site looks as good as you hope!)
