What a fun day! It has been a while since I had last visited with Wendy and Chris. Since the last time I had seen them, they had a beautiful baby girl, Makena. I was so excited that they had time in their busy visit to the Bay area to meet up with us and fit a 6 month photoshoot in. Makena is a natural model. What a Happy baby that is all smiles.

What a great way to kick off the 4th of July weekend.

Locks of Love

Growing up I have always admired and looked up to my beautiful sister Jennifer. Not only is she beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well. Recently, she changed her hairstyle and will be changing the life of a child suffering from a long term medical hair loss, by donating 10” of her hair to "Locks of Love" .

Last year Jennifer’s Daughter Bailey also donated her hair as well. Because of Jennifer and Bailey’s generosity I wanted to do my part as well. Unfortunately, it will be a long while before I have 10” of hair to donate, so in the meantime I wanted to extend some love to everyone else. If you or someone you know is currently growing their hair with the intent to donate it I would like to offer two complimentary portrait sessions (before and after) with an 8x10 print to capture your generosity to a child in need.

The Lim's Baby Bump

I was so excited when Ray and Trang told me that they were expecting a bundle of joy. Today we headed out to Gamble Gardens in Palo Alto to capture some Baby bump moments.

National Charity Model Search

Thank you for your support of my participation in the National Charity Model Search. I've enjoyed submitting many wonderful portraits of our community's beautiful children to the contest, and I'm proud that by working together we've raised over $94,000 for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.

The date to enter portrait submissions has passed, but there's still time to rally the final vote and raise more money for charity, as well as voting to keep your model in the standings. If you've been putting off placing your vote, please do so now. Also, please urge your family and friends to vote. The contest selects America's Cutest Kid, and the winning child receives great prizes, including a $5,000 US Savings Bond and a Canon PowerShot G10 digital camera. Remember, each dollar generated by votes goes toward providing infant bereavement photography to parents who have lost a child.

Is your child America’s Cutest Kid?

Deborah Nagai Photography is participating in the National Charity Model Search to select “America’s Cutest Kid” and to raise funds for charity.

We’re looking for cute children ages 18 months to 14 years old to model for a portrait to be entered into the contest.

Models Search Special:
$75 entrance fee, which includes:

60 minute model session

one image submitted to the national gallery

8x10 Print of the Contest Entry

Online Viewing Of all Portraits from the session

Finalists will be determined by online votes. Anyone may vote. Each vote is $1, and all proceeds from votes benefit the non-profit Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. (NILMDTS.org)
Grand prize national winner will be determined from the 50 city finalists. Winners selected by photography and modeling industry experts.

Audrey Magazine

My Audrey Magazine came in the mail today!! I am not normally this excited to receive a magazine in the mail, but this one is special!! I was asked back in December to do a photo shoot for the February/March 2008 issue. My subject was a Restaurateur named Chris Yeo. For those of you who live in the bay area and have been to Santana Row, he owns both Sino and Straits Cafe. (yummy food at both restaurants)

Down to the Rodeo

How could I ever miss a photo opportunity? So when my husband called and said, “I’m taking you on a date tonight to the Rodeo” my true first response was…ARE YOU KIDDING ME? But after convincing me that it would be fun, I accepted.

I never thought I would ever find a place in Northern California with so many Cowboys. I thought that was left behind me when I moved to the Bay Area from Fresno.

Being new to the sport, I was fortunate enough to have sat next to a family that embraced my lack of knowledge and filled me in to what each event was and the goal behind it. It was fascinating.

Here are a few pictures that I captured.

Lesson in Life

In life I like to surround myself with people that are inspirational to me. Positive energy that helps me spread positive energies to others as well. This helps me with my motivation, making clear logical choices and creativity. There are times in life when the lessons that we are taught slip our minds and occasionally we need a reminder. These are the times I am most thankful for those people in my life that I have surrounded myself with and those who have chosen to stand by my side.

Growing up, my mother would always tell me, “Think before you speak”. Great advice, but what am I suppose to think about? I never thought about applying rules to this statement until talking with a wonderful friend. His advice to me was, “Before I speak, interview or ask questions, I make sure my comments follow four guidelines:”

1. Is the comment True?
2. Is it the Right Time to speak or ask this question?
3. Are the words I choose to use Kind?
4. Is it Necessary for me to ask or make this comment?

Great words to live by....Thank you Chris.

Happy Birthday to me....

March 14th became even more special today. My very dear friend delievered baby Julian this afternoon.....

Even though the day started out looking grim, I was pleasantly surprised when my niece Bailey surprised me with a wonderful Birthday party in her Hospital room. Since latex balloons are not allowed in the hospital, Bailey made her own balloons and Party hats for everyone who came. Thank you Bailey for making my Birthday so special and I am so happy you are feeling better :-)

Film Festival Launch Party

The Queen Graces the San Francisco Bay

Since I am not a huge football fan, I had the pleasure of shooting pictures of the Queen Mary 2 pass under the Golden Gate Bridge at 4pm today. Being the largest ocean cruise liner ever built, all 1,132 feet long, and its 17 decks (equal the height of a 23-story building) were all gawked at by LOTS of people.

Just when My husband and I thought we would go against the grain and be different. Not attend a Super Bowl party...we ended up sitting at the top of Fort Point over looking the Golden Gate Bridge, peering over what seemed to be hundreds of boats, yachts, kayaks, sail boats...you name it.

Maybe one of these days we will be able to afford the $184,400 to stay in the 2,250 square foot Balmoral Suite and cruise around the world in 80-days on the Queen Mary 2. (not holding my breath!)
