i'm not even real sure if anyone checks this thing anymore, but if you do...sorry about the lack of photos. i've been in a photo lull and i'm hoping it will end soon so i can actually start shooting photos that i like once more. maybe it's the need of a vacation that's dragging me down creativity wise, but whatever it is it needs to end soon for my sake and the herald's

i guess the one good thing about being a photographer, besides free food, would be making your own wall art. i shot this for next year's spring home and garden section for the herald...and with some help with photoshop, i decided to spruce up my new apartment i'm moving into this week.

why are all the day camps the same week? i'm a little camped out. basketball camp, volleyball camp, vacation bible school and soon to be girl scout day camp. i'm happy to be covering them, but man i never realized how many different camps there were. i only went to one camp as kid and it was enough to last a lifetime.

i felt bad for waking this guy up to get his picture, along with pressing my lens against his fence, and just in general being really rude. i tried telling him i was sorry the whole way thru, but i don't think he believed me. anyways i'm not even sure what the story is about, all i knew was owls were involved and this made me really happy.

and at the ole mill crank-up they have freshly grounded corn meal...which equals excitement for me. i bought 3 gigantic bags, while getting no slack from my co-workers who said "you can get corn meal from lowes"...they clearly never had cornbread made from fresh corn meal.

anyways, this kid has nothing to do with cornbread, except however he was at the ole mill crank-up watching a blacksmith shape scraps of metal.

was crazy. two games, and a pottery festival. thank god for coffee. these kids made my morning, and i was surprised on how good they were, i mean they might have ran the opposite way and scored for the other team a few times...but hey it happens.

the first sport i ever learned to shoot was baseball. hours of my life during my first year summer semester at rcc, was spent sitting outside getting eaten alive by bugs, trying to impress my unimpressed teacher, while shooting with a manual focus lens. (now i'm all fancy with my auto focus camera) and even though i hate, hate, hate shooting sports...i will always enjoy baseball.

because i'm allergic to bees...very allergic. i haven't been stung since i was a kid, but hospitals are never fun, and quite expensive the last time i checked. i may not be a war photographer, but yesterday i endangered myself enough to last for a while.

anyways, so this woman, and her family, had honey bees living in an overhang outside their house....yea something like 40,000 bees. (see why i almost died?) but thanks to a friendly bee keeper, everyone goes home happy.

memorial service for the shooting in carthage. i didn't get to go inside, but got a photo of this lady leaving the church talking to a church official. pretty much i always feel terrible when i have to cover things like this. i know it's my job, but i'm not a robot.

on a side note, i wore flip flops and at some point i was standing underneath a tree and stepped into a gigantic sand pile of ants...needlesss to say my foot in swollen, and itchy...man even the ants hate the media.

for lee county living 09 photo essay. when i'm not shooting for the herald i'm off shooting for lee county living and chatham living, which if you don't know, are two local magazines that put out some really great stuff on what's happened, what's going to happen, and somethings some people may have never knew happened. my job is to dance like the photo monkey that i am. my essay this year is diptychs... what in the world is a diptych you may ask? it is 2, 3, 4 or however many images you want of a common theme or what have to form one image. this is the first one, of the many that will be in the essay for lee county living 09. hopefully all you guys in sanford will enjoy my artsy fartsy stuff.

got to hang out today with an amazing kid. his name is eduardo. he's blind, and has limited hearing, but has an incredible talent with numbers. he can remember everyone's birthday that he meets, and when you meet him the first thing he will ask you is your birthday. he kept calling me "september 8, 1984" instead of my real name. now what the sad part is, it took me a minute to remember my own birthday...

such a strong and postive lady who's going through end-stage renal disease. she is incredibly sweet, along with her family members that are helping her.

i was completely amazed to see how full of life and positive she was. about 10 years ago, i had acute renal failure...luckily they caught it way early and i only spent 11 days in the hospital...but i specifically remember being completely freaked out and crying a lot, and i wasn't nearly at the stage she's at where she needs a new kidney. if you get a chance check out her website above.
