At Jane Addams Place, Child & Family Advocates assist residents by focusing on families & trauma so that they can regain permanent housing and employment.

You can also take the 64 from west Philadelphia in the direction of Parkside Ave and get off at either Farragut and Chestnut and walk up and over to 43rd and Ludlow or get off at 46th and Market and walk east and south. WHAT: Come help the elderly residents of the Hillcreek Apartments for Seniors. Many of the residents are elderly and disabled. We will rake leaves, pick up trash, and offer to wash dishes, mop floors, clean stoves, take out trash, and more. The elderly, often struggle with daily chores. Help make life better for them through these simple acts.

What: Volunteers will be repairing and painting walls, weatherization projects, and general maintenance on a childrens’ center!

This is the 4th annual “East meets West” Project organized by Keystone Smiles Americorps Program. The project’s goal is to support community building efforts for early education professionals as well as assisting to expand resources for Children’s Centers that serve low-income families and struggle to sustain quality businesses.

Septa BUSES:
The best way to get out to the New Covenant Campus is to take Bus 23. You can catch bus 23 at Broad and Erie. Take Bus 23 headed west towards the Chesnut Hill Loop. You’ll get off at the New Covenant Campus, which will be on your left after you cross E. Mount Airy Avenue and West Allen Lane. Walk towards the campus and ask for Founders Hall.

If you are using the Broad Street Line, take it to the Erie Stop and follow the directions above.
If you are using the Market-Frankford Line, transfer to the Broad Street Line at city hall and take it North to the Erie Stop. Then follow the directions above.

Regional Rail:
R8
If you are coming from 30th Street Station, Suburban Station or Market East Station, you can take the R8 towards Chesnut Hill West and get off at the Allen Lane Station. Walk Northeast on Allen Lane for two blocks crossing Rural Lane and Bryant Street until you reach Germantown Avenue. Make a left onto Germantown and then walk about another two blocks until you see the New Covenant Campus on your left. Ask for Founders Hall.

You can also take the R7 from 30th Street Station, Suburban Station, or Market East Station going towards Chesnut Hill East. You’ll get off at the Mount Airy stop. SUNDAY SERVICE - Philadelphia Marathon & Art Museum Trip

Meet up Location: Philadelphia Museum of Art Eakins Oval (out front by Rocky Steps) behind the Starting Corrals (13.25 mile mark) Art Museum Main Building Philadelphia, PA 19101

WHAT: Volunteers will set up, monitor and run Water Stop #7 which is a starting and finish line water stop. Students will also help with other finish line support including re-hydration fluids and the food tent as needed.

BONUS: Hour long optional trip to the Philadelphia Museum of Art following the service project to view the Gee’s Bend Quilts and other exhibits.

NOTES: Dress for weather, as we will be outdoors! Please don't forget your permission slip!

Take I-676 West to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway exit (22nd Street, Museum area), on the right side. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto 22nd Street and get into the far left lane. The Benjamin Franklin Parkway is a boulevard with two outside lanes and two inside lanes. Turn left onto the outside lanes of the parkway toward the Museum, which will be in front of you on the hill. Follow the sign for the Art Museum. After the sign, turn left at the first traffic light (Art Museum Drive). Follow the road up to the West Entrance of the Museum, where limited parking is available.

From Western Locations: Valley Forge, King of Prussia
Take I-76 East to Philadelphia. Take Exit 343 (Spring Garden Street). At the end of the exit ramp, turn left. Continue past the side of the Museum, through the first traffic light and around Eakins Oval, staying in the far left lane. Turn left at the second traffic light and then bear right. Follow the sign for the Art Museum. After the sign, get in the far left lane and turn left at the first traffic light (Art Museum Drive). Take I-95 North to Exit 22 Central Philadelphia / I- 676. Stay in the left lane of this exit. Follow signs for I-676 West to the 1st exit (Broad Street). This exit brings you up to 15th Street. Get into left lane and follow the sign for 611/Broad Street and make a left turn on to Vine Street. Follow signs for Vine Street/PA Convention Center. Make a right on to 12th Street.
