the numbers are in for 2007 and the plastic surgical society numbers show an increase in overall procedures by 7%. breast augmentation up by 6%, facelifts by 14%, eyelids and abdominoplasty slightly increased, to name a few. injectable treatments were up as well. the techniques used with more natural results are convincing more patients to proceed with surgical procedures.

newsweek magazine web article on breast surgery titled "mommy wants her body back" the number of women who are having breast augmentation and breast lifting procedures post pregnancy has been increasing. it is the number one procedure nationally and the improvements are natural. over 300,000 breast augmentation procedures were performed last year and the numbers are increasing. studies show safety records, followup studies on patient satisfaction numbers which are high are in the literature.

Dr. Rosen has been permitted to join the newly formed American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons. This society was recently established by plastic surgeons that specialize in body contouring surgery specifically for patients that have lost weight through non-surgical means such as diet or exercise or through various bariatric procedures. After significant weight loss, patients are typically left with skin excesses which many patients are unprepared for as well as concerned about. Patients have had to accept this reality or look to find a plastic surgeon to fix these problems. Finding a plastic surgeon who is thoroughly trained and familiar with these procedures and will give the proper care and techniques for the issues at hand. liposuction is a proven technique to improve the body shape by the removal of fat. beware of non proven newer techniques hitting the marketplace. reducing or melting fat with minimal swelling, brusing and down time all sound great. but the techniques need to be tested, investigated, and proven before the plastic surgical society or aesthetic society will give their blessing. the safety of injected medications to melt fat still is under investigation. contacting the american society of plastic surgery at www.plasticsurgery.org will give additional information about which procedures are safe and proven to work.

little procedure little result- are the minimal procedures out there right now, right for you? that depends on what you are trying to achieve. quick fixes sometimes can be beneficial, but there is a lot on the market to wade through. a well performed cosmetic procedure with the newest techniques will provide 8-10 years of improvement, with only a 10 day down time. to improve 50 years worth of aging in that time i believe is reasonable. the minimal procedures should be used as an adjunct, sometimes providers take them too far. be careful, choose wisely. consultations are complimentary, and can assist you in getting a clear picture on the options available to you.
