We didn't make a big haul but I did get rid of some stuff, which was the real reason for the sale. I figured I could clear a few things out and make a little money. That goal was accomplished. I knew a garage sale in Oklahoma in the middle of July was an iffy proposition. We sweated our butts off on Friday. Had a good turn out in the morning, the afternoon Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-11921469305902522532008-07-24T15:54:00.000-05:002008-07-24T15:55:10.373-05:00G-Day Garage Sale day is almost here. I've spent today sweating in the 95 degree heat (35C) making sure I've got all of the garage sale items together. The baby items have all been squirted off with the hose (dusty from being in the attic) and later Duncan and his friend TJ will move the plastic sandboxes to the front of the house. Tonight mom and I will set up the many books I have for sale on Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-25768806661316288582008-07-22T18:49:00.001-05:002008-07-22T18:49:53.079-05:00PMS and Garage Sales Do Not Mix Damn but it takes a lot of work to get ready for a garage sale. I've got a handy dandy price gun so pricing things is a breeze. But my problems arise when it comes to where the heck do I put all of the stuff until the garage sale. My garage is more than half full of things we're taking to Washington (emptied from the attic). The other side of the garage is fast Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-17561274784637954942008-07-15T16:56:00.001-05:002008-07-15T19:52:17.678-05:00Busy More stuff done toward the move today, which is good because we're coming up on the four week countdown. The kids are even getting into the idea of moving although my youngest has a tendency to be more emotionally fragile and acts out every now and then. Normal behavior I figure. I also took the plunge and applied for a few jobs online last night. It's quite depressing to make a resume Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-2300782604661984652008-07-13T17:21:00.001-05:002008-07-13T17:21:35.141-05:00Success! My garage is now set for me to get ready for that garage sale. Yippee! Okay...maybe a less effusive yippee is in order because a garage sale in July in Oklahoma is just nuts. I'm going to do it though and put everything at fire sale prices. Whatever doesn't sell will be donated to a local thrift store. And then I can actually park the van in the garage again. Bliss!Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-58961246055254646792008-07-12T23:33:00.002-05:002008-07-12T23:36:06.330-05:00Bet you don't hear this in your house.... Monday I'll get back to it and just in time for our really good summer heat. You know it's summer in Oklahoma when walking outside feels like a hot blast from an oven. Thank goodness for air conditioning!Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-58293987230596213242008-07-02T16:44:00.001-05:002008-07-02T16:46:24.962-05:00Three Weeks’ Worth o’ Comics Ultimate Fantastic Four TP vol. 10, Trinity #3, Zorro #4, Tangent: Superman's Reign #4, Justice League of America #22, The Flash #241, Checkmate #27, Catwoman #80, The Brave and the bold #14, Birds of Prey #119, X-Factor #32, Rasl #2, Final Crisis #2, Fire and Brimstone #1, B.P.R.D. My garbage cans are full (fortunately tomorrow is trash day). I've got a new junk day pile started. And slowly but surely my garage sale pile is being built. Most of the garage is full of stuff we're going to move. My boxes of Christmas ornaments alone take up a huge chunk. There are also the random boxes left over from the last move that were Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-87726464477705362062008-06-28T18:37:00.000-05:002008-06-28T18:38:02.807-05:00Home We arrived safely home a little after midnight. I was pooped and ready to crash so was mom. Cal was wired and Duncan felt like it was a good time to turn on his computer and check his email. He wasn't tired at all and couldn't understand how we could be so tired just from traveling all day. Little shit. I wielded the mighty staff of mom and made him shut it all down and go to bed. There Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-79835269146321060942008-06-24T17:48:00.001-05:002008-06-24T17:51:04.445-05:00Disneyland The internet connection in my room is non-existent so I haven't been able to blog about our trip. We arrived in Anaheim Saturday afternoon and hit the park bright and early Sunday morning. Every day has been packed but still our standard relaxed vacation. We've got the routine down. Get up at 6 am, head to the free breakfast, get slathered up with sunscreen, get on the bus, stand in Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-14554810642291359262008-06-19T15:30:00.000-05:002008-06-20T08:38:56.409-05:00Ugh Spent the day at Whitewater with the kids. Nothing much done toward the move beyond depositing Mike's final check from work. Friday will be spent getting the last items rounded up for vacation beginning Saturday. I hope to be able to relax fully because once we return things must be moved into high gear. I absolutely have to face that garage and divide moving sale items from items we're Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-77449196019011237722008-06-16T17:29:00.001-05:002008-06-16T17:29:39.479-05:00Insert Chicken Clucking Here I feel like I've spent the day running around like a chicken with my head cut off. First many morning errands needed to be done with two kids in tow. Then back home to wait for the plumber. I cracked the whip and got the boys to help me organize the mess in the living room. As I'm trying to sort through stuff for packing, Cal is rooting through the bins from the Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-10396139707039290962008-06-15T10:28:00.001-05:002008-06-15T10:29:44.139-05:00Some Giggles 20 Superhero Moves We Hope They Never MakeTamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-43495456224143148992008-06-14T17:46:00.002-05:002008-06-15T09:10:43.343-05:00Pooped I survived my Chalice Camp overnight. It's tradition to have the junior counselors camp out the last day of Chalice Camp. Usually Mike is one of the responsible adults but his mother got married today and he needed to be at her house this morning pretty early. We could have blown it off but with the move to Seattle this would be Duncan's last camp out. All went well last night. My brother-in-law even swam and, shock of shocks, removed the ever present headset. My brother and mom came as well. Dad stayed home. We didn't miss him. Calvin and Duncan swam until the world looked level (as my mom would say). Duncan and I are now well on our way to becoming brown. Cal will tan up a bit but Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-54928851991973860612008-05-25T19:55:00.001-05:002008-05-25T19:55:34.414-05:00Memorial Day It's Memorial Day weekend here in the US, which means the official start of summer for many. Most of the folks here in OKC are off at one of our many lakes enjoying water and sun. For us it means our annual trip to my Aunt's in Lawton, OK and a relaxing Sunday afternoon cookout. We also celebrate my cousin's birthday...she'll be a big 17 this Wednesday. Hard to believe she's not Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-46314982119024185862008-05-23T14:38:00.000-05:002008-05-23T14:39:09.208-05:00Summer Break Begins Finally getting over my cold. Just in time too since the kids are officially out of school today. I also broke down and turned on the damn air conditioning. It's just too muggy and hot right now with no relief in sight. I'll still shut it off in the evenings when it's cool but this way we'll sleep in a cooler house. I'm not looking forward to my summer electric bill. *sigh*Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-54731229825732087362008-05-21T16:05:00.000-05:002008-05-21T16:06:02.176-05:00Blah I've managed to keep my allergies at bay this spring season, which has been really nice. I don't miss the sneezy and watery eyes. That's probably why I'm so frustrated about catching a cold during this heatwave. Sunny and hot outside and I'm stuffy and grumpy inside. Ick.Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-29772594940210336862008-05-19T18:26:00.001-05:002008-05-19T18:44:02.542-05:00Hot! The heat has hit us here in Oklahoma--91 (32.8 C) today and an expected high of 88 (31.1 C) tomorrow. I'm being stubborn and keeping that air conditioning off until at least the last week of May. I just can't face turning it on this early. Thus begins the time of great suffering at the Hodge Lodge....Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5602028.post-38356688205165762972008-05-16T09:43:00.003-05:002008-05-16T09:46:50.762-05:00As Promised The knot has gone down from the day 1 pic. I still can't wear my ball cap comfortably but it's a vast improvement. It never got really ugly with bruising and now seems to be moving into the yellow-green phase. Fun!Tamarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16082749099710565101noreply@blogger.com
