Sometimes life becomes so pleasurable that one neglects some areas, while enjoying others. Actually, I was not home during the days surrounding July 4th, but instead was in New Mexico, being roady and companion to Mike and the band members of the Danny Santos Band while they played several gigs. I'll post more about that in another entry. I hope that those of us that live in America will think about what our country offers us in terms of freedom, and that we all will remember every day all troops, both here and abroad. God Bless America!!! And God Bless.......cowgirls, clouds, crows, and Corvettes, too!!! Enjoy the pics!!! We'll see if the Nuggets can finish off the series, or if they will chose to finalize things here at home in game 5. I have a feeling they would just as soon finish this series off tonight....... I hope that everyone, moms and not moms, had a great day yesterday on Mother's Day! It was a less than perfect weather day here in the foothills of the Rockies......and as we drove up on I-70, the snow began, and the temps in the upper 40's dropped to as low as 34!! I had requested to eat breakfast at one of my favorite spots ~~ The Happy Cooker in Georgetown, CO. From there we headed on up toward the Divide, with the weather worsening as we climbed in elevation. I wanted to go to Leadville, and stop at The Ugly Cookie Company for cookies and coffee! Well, wouldn't you know......no ugly cookies on Mother's Day!! Closed for repairs. So I had to settle for pie and coffee at Jan's in Buena Vista!! Before reaching Buena Vista, the temps rose to 68, the sun was out fully, with only a minimal amount of clouds in the sky. It was gorgeous!! But......once again we entered the clouds, literally driving in the clouds, before returning home. I hope you will enjoy the snow pics!!

Trudy Honeycutt ~ Folk Artisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07513605017373278863noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5542536756247313909.post-74860600665848530882009-05-09T10:52:00.006-06:002009-05-09T11:00:49.631-06:00GO, NUGGETS!!! We have experienced a couple days in the low 80's here at 6,000 feet, although Denver has not officially hit 80. Then......changes.....as always!! Yesterday was only in the 60's, and this morning was 38 when I arose, and currently barely 50. But....after having to remove my bird feeders from my FRONT yard by order of the HOA....the finches have found my backyard feeders!! YES!!! They are back!! I've pledged to making improvements in our back yard this season, planting a veggie garden, and several roses and other bushes...to provide food for the bunnies (hhhhaaaaaa!!!) and bushes and flowers for the birds and the butterflies! Hope Spring has arrived for all of you!! (It snowed up above us last night.....) Enjoy the bird pic!!

Trudy Honeycutt ~ Folk Artisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07513605017373278863noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5542536756247313909.post-91203582074887238962009-04-30T09:06:00.004-06:002009-04-30T09:33:32.649-06:00WAY TO GO NUGGETS!!! About to start getting dark, so might not be able to get any more pictures until tomorrow. Blessings to all, and especially to those of you getting dumped on like we are!!! Also, pray for the safety of those over to the East of us, as tornadoes are being spotted. Stay safe, Jenny...down in the lower elevation of Denver!!! We get hit with one of these wonderful Spring Storms...so common here in Colorado. This morning here at 6,000 feet the snow has begun to accumulate, and the morning forecast was that the slow moving storm would bring us a BIG BUNCH of the wet and heavy stuff throughout the next 24-36 hours. I am delighted with this, since we have had very little snow this season, and I do love the snow!! I have shoveled twice already today, and it is only 10 a.m.!! Right now the problem is not the amount of snow....it's the slipping and sliding for travel and walking caused by the nice layer of ice under the snow...thanks to the steady rain we had all day yesterday and all night long. OUCH!! Enjoy the snow pics...and sorry there are no bird pictures. The neighborhood association made me take down my front tree bird feeders.....yes....true. I am only allowed feeders, a total of TWO, in my back yard....hmmm......guess we shan't eat in the front yards here......

Trudy Honeycutt ~ Folk Artisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07513605017373278863noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5542536756247313909.post-50619649951555004972009-04-16T08:37:00.004-06:002009-04-16T08:59:51.895-06:00AND THE WINNER IS..........

The winner of my WATERMELON SLICE give-away, in celebration of my 200th post, is..........

DIANNTHA of the blog OHIO FARM GIRL!!!!! Where does the time go???!!! Much has happened since I last posted....and now this is the 200th post!!! YEA!!!! It is the time of year here in the foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains where we are constantly vacillating between Spring and Winter.....and today is no exception!! The temp is in the upper 60's, and it's a beautiful day! However, another storm is moving in, with 5-12" of snow predicted for our area, with a high temp tomorrow around 30 degrees! A week ago Thursday was the grand Spring Blizzard, where snow flew creating zero visibility, and flights out of Denver International Airport were canceled. Yes, I thought I was going to Austin that day....but nope!! Got out on Friday, though!! Prior to the blizzard, we have seen many bulbs blooming, perennials waking up, trees budding out and flowering, etc. Then snow!! But....as they say....this is Colorado!! No surprise!! Actually, the records show that March is generally the big snow month, followed by both November and April. So we shall see what happens from now until May 1st!! I'm not complaining. I love the snow....and we need the moisture. As with many parts of the country, we are in a drought situation, and must be happy about the precipitation we receive.

And now about the give-away!! If you would like to have a chance to win these watermelon wedges, just leave a comment here on the blog!! If you want two chances to win, post about the give-away on your blog!!
