After days of hours of searching through dresses of every sort online, I've decided the most direct way to get exactly what I want is to have it made. Short, backless, and textured. I have decided to stick with white (at least as the primary color) because then options for attendants garments are completely open and I'll be easily identifiable as the bride. (Yes, I realize that last statement sounds really silly, but it's still true.) I really want to figure out my dress soon, because it does play a large role in setting the tone of everything else. I consider it an integral part of the theme. So I think I'm going to search for heavy lace or chiffon and stick with a Grecian (yet fitted) style so it will mesh with the wings and angels motif.<br />But here's some stuff I thought about:<br />These <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/C/6001775/0%7E2376776%7E2374327%7E2374331%7E6001765%7E6001775?mediumthumbnail=Y&viewAll=1&tuid=9445c980-bf14-4903-99d5-26490d973c3f&catID=6001775&Category=6001775&boutique=dress_shop" target="_blank">little white dresses from Nordstroms:</a><br /><a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/?action=view&current=_5416794.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/_5416794.jpg" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/?action=view&current=_5512505.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/_5512505.jpg" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/?action=view&current=_5520532.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/_5520532.jpg" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br />And this flapper-inspired one from Saks:<br /><a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/?action=view&current=0470093005181_ASTL_300x400.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/0470093005181_ASTL_300x400.jpg" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br /><br />These two I love the patterns on:<br />I think I found this on <a href="http://www.bluefly.com/" target="_blank">bluefly.com:</a><br /><a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/?action=view&current=124rodImagems.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/124rodImagems.jpg" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br />This Jean Paul Gaultier is at <a href="http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446166577&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=282574492043433&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474399545537&bmUID=1196640718531&ev19=13:13" target="_blank">Saks Fifth Avenue</a>, and the pattern is awsome when you zoom:<br /><a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/?action=view&current=0418085989118_ASTL_300x400.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/0418085989118_ASTL_300x400.jpg" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br /><br />I considered vintage. But the truly old ones look a little crusty, and the replica look too costume-y. This is the best I found:<br />This one was by Marilyn Monroe's favorite designer, <a href="http://www.fashiondig.com/shop/detail.asp?ItemMasterID=18470&ItemID=33837&CatalogueDisplay=Y" target="_blank">found here</a>, which is probably why it's so expensive, but I do think it's really cool. (The only semi-poufy one I've liked.)<br /><a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/?action=view&current=item18470.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/item18470.jpg" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br />And this website, <a href="http://www.whirlingturban.com/vintage_wedding_dresses.htm" target="_blank">Whirling Turban</a>, makes awesome replicas, but they're not exactly what I want.<br /><br />These other colorful ones I also liked:<br />I actually saw this BCBG dress as a bridesmaid dress in a magazine, too. (It's at Nordstrom's.)<br /><a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/?action=view&current=_5521738.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/_5521738.jpg" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br />If this was way cheaper I would probably buy it just to have. (Saks)<br /><a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/?action=view&current=0459197758681_ASTL_300x400.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/0459197758681_ASTL_300x400.jpg" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br />And this one <i>is</i> way cheaper, so I might get it for another fancy ocassion. (The honeymoon is going to be like a week long...) From Macy's or Dillard's.<br /><a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/?action=view&current=369235_fpxtif.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/369235_fpxtif.jpg" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br /><br />This is the actual "wedding" dress that I liked. (by Winnie Couture)<br /><a href="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/?action=view&current=knwinnf078279l.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/tuneof1000lisps/knwinnf078279l.jpg" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br />I'm thinking this style, no back, no sash, and short, keeping it way under a grand.<br /><br />My backup plan is <a href="http://www.wai-ching.com/" target="_blank">Wai-Ching</a>. The website is funny so I can't direct link, but go Bridal, down to Soleil dress (white and blue and short), and then imagine it backless. I'm a big supporter of creativity.Erinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13957681851983044975noreply@blogger.com
