Come 2009 and the Ultimate Driving Machine has another ace up its sleeve. This is the model year in which it has spruced its exhilarating flagship model, the 3 Series lineup!

Its two trims, the 328i and 335i, along with the upcoming 3 Series diesel get a series of fine and delicate changes in their styling. The updates don’t really come in the way of offering you the aesthetic pleasure the 3 Series is famed for offering; the model is given that extra makeup to make it even savvier than it was. In other words, it is high-performance from the BMW 3 Series as usual, but with extra fun.

Take a look at how the 2009 version of the 328i; 335i and 3 Series diesel look different from front and back: it now has a restyled hood; and then, the legendary twin-kidney grille is slightly reworked, as is the front fascia. Added to these changes, new LED turn signals and taillights are given.

Turn to its back, and you get taillights whose designs take you to another era. These lights look like they are from the older 5 Series. When it comes to the side mirrors; wheel styles and the character line, BMW gets more contemporary.

Let us start with the 2009 3 Series. Its two trims, the 328 and 335 run on a highly refined engine that comes with 230-hp on an inline six-cylinder. With torque of only 200 lb ft for this kind of power, you can enjoy a stable and smooth ride.

The 328 and 335 trims come in many body types –sedan, wagon, coupe and retractable hardtop convertible. While the 328 is given a twin-turbo gasoline engine, the 335 comes with a twin-turbo diesel engine.

There is a novelty for the 2009 model 3 Series. It is now given a new trim, the 335d. For those looking for more power, this is the right one. Its 3.0-liter diesel engine has power of 265 horsepower and 425 lb ft of torque.

The 2009 BMW X6 Series is a strikingly attractive four-door Sports Activity Vehicle. Its two trims, the X6 xDrive35i and the X6 xDrive50i are armed to the full with features. The X6 xDrive35i is given a 3.0-liter, inline6 twin turbo engine that gives out 300 horses.

The other trim, the X6 xDrive50i sets the road ablaze with its ultra-powerful 4.4-liter, V8 engine with 400 horsepower.

This model also comes with BMW’s innovative feature, variable valve timing. What this system does is to supply power to the vehicle just when it needs it. On occasions on which the vehicle is not carrying heavy loads, it supplies less power, making optimum use of the engine.

Another of our 2009 models is the BMW X5. The novelty of this model is that while riding on the same engine as the 335, it also comes as a sedan –the X5xDrive 35d.

For the 16th year in a row, the BMW 3 Series has won the top spot in Car & Driver's annual Top 10 Best Cars list. Here is a quote from Car & Driver about the 3 Series-

BMW takes home 6 awards at the International Engine of the Year Award

BMW ran the table at the International Engine of the Year Competition finishing with 50% of the possible awards, including the coveted International Engine of the Year. The awards are presided over by a panel of 65 international motoring journalists from 32 countries across the whole world. They serve to recognize engineering excellence in many of the cars that we all love.

BMW's 3.0 L Twin Turbo engine found in the 135i, 335i and the X6 took home the top honor for the second time. This engine is universally recognized as one of the most powerful, yet efficient engines in the world.

Generating 300 HP and 300 lb/ft of torque, the N54 as it is affectionately known, has become the pinnacle in the world of performace.

BMW also won for Best New Engine with a 2.0 L Twin Turbo Diesel engine. Additional BMW winners include the 4.0 L V8 that powers the M3, the 5.0 L V10 that powers the M5 and the 1.6 L Turbo found in the Mini Cooper.
