Bears are cruelly killed for their hides; they are either shot during hunts or ensnared, possibly for days, in painful traps. During hunts, as many as one bear in seven is not killed immediately after being shot, and some escape wounded, possibly dying later from blood loss or starvation. In some Canadian provinces, there are no restrictions on the shooting of mothers who have nursing cubs, leading to the slaughter of entire families during hunts.

Please follow the link below and add your name to PETA's growing list of support against this shocking trade.

http://getactive.peta.org/campaign/unbearable_cruelty_ukNeenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-366818098159940892008-06-19T13:12:00.000+01:002008-06-19T13:13:02.032+01:00The Wave of LoveNeenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-84706814369831435462008-03-19T20:47:00.002Z2008-03-19T20:57:56.262ZVideo: Sodium fluoride in your drinking waterThank you to Kate Magic Wood for sending me the following as a MySpace Bulletin:

After receiving over 50,000views in a fewhours andon itswayto shoot to the top of themost viewedchart, YouTube brazenly pulleda popular video from their rankings systemFridayin an actof wantoncensorship.

“QuestionYour Reality,”a stirring and well puttogether video montage featuringtalk show host Alex Jones was rocketing up the charts, already having reached number 2 most viewd on News and Politics and soaring up the general most discussed and most viewed categories.

A moment later, it was nowhere to be seen as You Tube cleared the slate and prevented the clip from going completely viral.

You Tube is owned by Google, who have pulled this trick many times before, but by spreading the video far and wide you can help offset their censorship and wake people up.

There are some rather unpleasant photos and also some shouting in the video, so I'd recommend watching it when you feel in the right frame of mind.

The URL is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpFu_bYkomcNeenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-30068936124142529702008-02-29T11:03:00.006Z2008-02-29T11:39:28.827ZMy 60-Day Juice Feast Is OverUnfortunately the second month of my juice feast hasn't been particularly well documented... Work has been absolutely manic, and it's been more than just my blogging that has suffered - the house is a complete and utter mess and I'm behind on EVERYTHING! I can't even remember the last time I checked my RSS feeds...

Anyway, yesterday was my day 60, so today I've decided to break my feast! Since I have done two 21-day fasts previously I feel that 60 days is enough for me. I've got some prunes in the cupboard, I didn't use to like them, but now - who knows? My tastebuds certainly have changed! So has my skin, the colour of my eyes and teeth, my body shape (will try to do some new measurements soon), my hair, my nails... And that's just the stuff I can think of right now (I'm afraid I'm writing this in a rush - I've got a deadline to meet later today!). The weight loss hasn't been that great, though. I reckon that is because most days, I didn't get enough juice in. Totally my own fault - and the one advice I would give to any budding feasters would be to make sure you get more than enough juice every day! In my case, I think it's just because my body and mind are so used to fasting - I don't feel hungry, so I simply forget to drink until it's too late in the day to drink 4 litres of juice! I also have only had 2 enemas (even though they are SO easy to do!). I've also craved water a lot, and there have been several days when that's been pretty much all I've had. So it's pretty much a case of do as I say, don't do as I do... ;o)

Anyway, according to my scales (and bearing in mind that it's THAT time of the month), I've lost about 7 kg. But the change in my appearance has been more dramatic, I think:

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_Izoh0tp-EGY/R8fr9F750bI/AAAAAAAAAMU/x3TiBZxBuvY/s320/P1020927_trimmed.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5172362131856282034" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Izoh0tp-EGY/R8fsO1750cI/AAAAAAAAAMc/cJXihn7_tnw/s320/P1030545_edited.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5172362436798960066" />

It's a bit silly that I'm ending my feast now - when there are SO many people all over the world starting the Global Juice Feast tomorrow! But I may join in again for a few of those days - I have a friend coming to visit me in March who would like to feast for a few days with me! :oD

Right now, I'm enjoying chewing again - liquorice root rules (the corners of my mouth are getting really sore, though)! :oD

Oh, and in case I don't get a chance to write much about my feast breaking, you can learn all about it here: http://www.juicefeasting.com/JuiceFeastingIntro/BreakingtheJuiceFeast/tabid/324/Default.aspxNeenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-8297008582373361262008-02-23T21:59:00.003Z2008-02-23T23:05:07.701ZMy Juice Feast: Day 55Pretty uneventful, so I won't bore you guys with details!

I had:
1.0 l of orange juice
1.2 l of honeydew melon juice
0.9 l of apple and celery juice

So not bad in total - just not enough greens by far!Neenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-71470248640240749122008-02-22T16:31:00.005Z2008-02-22T16:48:45.294ZMy Juice Feast: Day 54It's so funny... Yesterday, I was waiting for a bus while I heard a boy shouting at his mum "You've got enough juice! You've got enough juice!" Needless, to say, this caught my attention, so I turned around to look... They were outside a shoe shop, and the kid was trying to stop his mum from buying more shoes, lol! That just goes to show where my head is at these days!

Yesterday, I had:
1.0 l of orange juice
1.5 l of raspberry, celery, romaine & cucumber juice
loads and loads of water

I went grocery shopping again yesterday, and guess what I discovered? "100% freshly squeezed unpasteurised valencia orange juice!" Tesco, I love you guys!!! :oD It actually contains nothing but nothing but OJ - and it's totally unpasteurised! I never thought I'd see the day! :oD So even though it was fairly expensive (I think it was about £2.30 for the smooth juice), I bought two bottles to help me get more juice in every day. As you can see, it didn't exactly work yesterday, though. It was another case of not having anything to drink until after noon... Will I EVER learn??? I had tons of water though... I keep wondering whether I am thirsty because I haven't had enough water lately, or whether I am thirsty because I haven't had enough juice lately... Guess it's probably a little bit of both!

Anyway, it's nice to be back blogging again! The last 3-4 weeks have been completely manic with work, but this week it finally eased up. I've had NOTHING on all week! So instead of trying to catch up on my blogging, I figured I'd proably be best off just relaxing and taking a break from the computer altogether. Which actually hasn't been easy! I've come to realise that I've got used to a high-stress way of living and now I don't know what to do with myself when I haven't got anything on. I remember about a year ago I was worried about Ben because he seemed unable to relax, and now I seem to be in that exact place myself... Oh well, at least I am aware of it! Recognising a pattern is the first step towards changing it, right? So if you'll all excuse me, I have an appointment with a book, a bath tub and some luxurious Egyptian bath oil... Think that'll help? ;o)Neenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-8760932206995227962008-02-14T14:54:00.007Z2008-02-14T17:04:02.854ZI'm on the cover of Time Magazine this month!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Izoh0tp-EGY/R7RWolpI8MI/AAAAAAAAAL0/Q0Z2j5d0sKE/s400/ninatime.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5166849927800221890" />

Hahahaha, not likely!!! ;o)

Just stumbled across the lovely site that is MagMyPic.com, and couldn't help myself... My first ever interview is online on FitFare.Net now and you can read it here!

The lovely, lovely Terilynn of The Daily Raw Café and Inspiration:Life interviewed Melissa Gilbert, Philip McCluskey, Kelly Ordway, Jack & Jill and Santi as well as myself about our juice feasting experiences. Thank you so much Terilynn for including me in this! Considering I've never been interviewed before in my life, I think I did quite well! ;o) Whaddya think, guys?

I'm also superexcited today because my friend Kari is coming to visit this weekend! Oh yeah, it'll be one juicy stay for her, lol! I can't wait till she gets here tomorrow, as we always have so much fun together! It will be great to get to speak Norwegian again as well, or rather that strange Norwenglish language that we normally end up using, lol! :oD

The third reason I'm excited is that I've finally more or less caught up on the backlog of emails and admin from my working-round-the-clock experiment. (Don't try this at home, kids! ;o) So that means that I finally have time to write daily blog posts again and that I will get round to sending out the first newsletter from thepowerofraw.com soon! I've got lots of great events and recipes lined up, but if there's something you want me to mention, it's still not too late! Just email me at neens@thepowerofraw.com and tell me all about it!

Oh, and one more thing - there are a few of you who haven't quite completed the sign-up process yet. After you sign up on the site you are sent an email with a link that you have to click to confirm your registration. A bit of a hassle, I know, but double opt-ins are required, unfortunately. If you don't think you've received this e-mail, it could be worth checking your junk folder (I'm guessing raw foodists don't have spam folders, lol! ;o) and have a quick look there. The email is sent from thepowerofrawnewsletter@getresponse.com (might be worthwhile adding this address to your safelist). Alternatively you can try subscribing again here: www.thepowerofraw.com/subscribe.html.

OK, that was more than enough techie info for one day! I'm off to beddie byes now, I'm taking an early night as I'm still feeling a bit sleep deprived. I can't even begin to tell you what a relief it is to finally be back on track with work and also have a whole weekend off with a great friend though! It really will do wonders for me, I can tell! :oD

Lots of love from Neens x
www.thepowerofraw.com

PS: I guess you people have heard about Shazzie being burgled.. Everyone is fine and she's taking it in her stride as the superbeing that she is, but I'm sure she could do with a bit of extra love sent her way, anyway - having your privacy invaded like that is seriously unfunny... It doesn't even bear thinking about...! *shudder*

Anyway, I just really wanted to thank everyone who have visited my new website and signed up for the newsletter!

Thepowerofraw.com has actually had 140 visitors in its first 48 hours of existence, which is nothing short of amazing! :oD And it's all thanks to you guys! The reason I know this? Nearly all those hits had "no referring link". Which means you guys followed the link in your emails and RSS readers. I can't even begin to tell you how grateful I am!

So thanks again!!!

Thanks also to all of those who submitted events and links etc. for inclusion on the site and in the newsletter. I can't wait to send out the first one - it will be packed with fabulous events hosted by some very rawsome people! Yeah, you know who you are! ;o) Anyway, I will hold it off for a little bit (this is also due to the ruddy dayjob getting in the way ;o), so if anyone else has anything they want to tip me about - a yummy recipe, an article, artwork - anything, really! - then just drop me a line at neens@thepowerofraw.com.

Oh and if you haven't already signed up, you can do it here: www.thepowerofraw.com

My readers are the best ever and make no mistake! :oD

Now, because I probably won't have time to write proper blog posts until Tuesday (goodness, this is like putting your whole life on hold! It's my own fault though... I AM the empress of procrastination, and it really didn't have to be this way... Let's hope I'll learn this time!), I wanted to leave you with a few quotes on love that I received in a free magazine that came in the post today:

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth" - Billy, age 4

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen" - Bobby, age 7

And the final one (tearjerker alert!):
"Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to jusge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbour was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked what he had said the the neighbour, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry".

I had actually heard the last one before, it gets me every time... Soooo... let's spread some love! :o)

Lots (and lots and lots!) of love from Neens
www.thepowerofraw.com

PS: Albie wants me to thank everyone for all the lovely birthday wishes! :oDNeenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-34850542464163796872008-01-31T15:54:00.000Z2008-01-31T16:20:26.479ZAlbie's 1 year old today! :oD

How time flies...

The first picture was taken in March and second one was taken in November, so it's not really up to date, but my little Woogie Woo hasn't changed much! :oD I'm sorry it's a bit fuzzy, but I just really love that photo of me and my Moomin.

On his special day, Albie got up early and spent a long time cuddling his mummy and ignoring his little brother. Then he received a VIP invitation to the puppy party hosted by the vets, and played around with 5 lovely little puppies for several hours. He enjoyed himself tremendously. Take a look at it and let me know what you guys think! Oh, and there's a newsletter too, with a free gift if you sign up! Just drop me a line if there's something you want me to include, like information, events, recipes you just HAVE to share, or even articles you've written! My e-mail address is neens@thepowerofraw.com (nice, huh? ;o)

Here's the link again: www.thepowerofraw.com

Hope you like it!

Lots of love from Neens
Website Owner (Ooooh, now that looks nice! ;o)Neenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-71945549981673303652008-01-28T09:42:00.000Z2008-01-28T20:28:42.757ZMy Juice Feast: Day 28Today I have got not one, but two exciting news for you! And a video! Read on... ;o)

Yesterday, I had:
1.1 l of coconut water
0.9 l of orange, celery and spinach juice
1.0 l of honeydew melon juice
1.15 l of pineapple/celery/spinach/cucumber juice

So 4.15 litres in total! Back on track! Yeay! :oD

I had to laugh yesterday, when I stumbled across this funny little widget:

My blog is worth $5,080.86.

Whoa, now that's a lot of money! Apparantly what they do is compute the blog's worth "using the same link to dollar ratio as the AOL-Weblogs Inc deal". Yup. I'm just gonna pretend I know what that means, and continue to amuse myself at the figure that cropped up! :oD If you want to find out how much your blog is worth, just click here! ;o)

Sooo, here's exciting news number one! Drumroll, please! ;o) I've gone and got myself a brandspanking new and shiny domain name! Yup, I'm sure you've guessed it already... thepowerofraw.com! :oD There's nothing there yet, but I'm working on it, and I will let you know when I have uploaded the contents! I have a group of trusted and brutally honest friends looking at it right now, lol! :oD And not to worry, the blog will continue as usual - but you will be able to read my three most recent blog posts at my new site as well, thanks to a little FeedBurner widget called BuzzBoost. I have wanted to start my own website for a while, and have been messing around with domain names, unfortunately being a bit too thick to realise that I couldn't really improve on what I chose for my blog! I registered two other domains before this dawned upon me, so if anyone is interested in buying the domains springtomind.net or justasnatureintended.com, please contact me at neens@thepowerofraw.com (See that? Nice, new e-mail address! I'm actually totally overexcited, as Shazzie would say!). Anyway, I got the domains cheaply, so I will sell them on cheaply - springtomind.net is just a domain name, whereas justasnatureintended includes a hosting deal with One.com. I just want to unload them really, so they'll go to the first person who expresses interest! ;o)

Today I finally got round to making a list of other juicy blogs - you'll find it in the sidebar! I got to 20, but I am sure I have missed out loads, as there are SO many juicy feasters out there at the moment! So if your blog is not on the list, please just drop me a line at neens@thepowerofraw.com and I will add it straight away! Oh and another thing I wanted to mention quickly - I have now disabled the word verification feature for comments, so now it's even quicker and easier to leave comments! :oD

Ok, time for exciting news number two: Today I was interviewed about my juice feast for fitfare.net by the lovely Terilynn of The Daily Raw Cafe and Inspiration:Life! Well the interview isn't just about me, it's about loads of us juice feasters! I'm still basking in the attention, though, lol! Answering her questions was SO much fun! :oD I will post a link to the interview as soon as I get one, in the meantime I shall have to keep you all in suspense...!

And now, ladies and gentlemen, I have finally managed to make another video! Although to be fair, uploading it to YouTube seemed a much bigger feat, it took the best part of the day and that's why my blog post for today is arriving a little later than usual. So apologies for that, and hope you enjoy the video. It contains some info on the preliminary results of my oh-so-scientific survey, lol! :oD

If you enjoyed this post, get free updates by email or RSS.
Neenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-78726671978313831072008-01-27T15:45:00.000Z2008-01-27T15:58:25.139ZHow about a quick survey?Well, I should be working, but that is sooo boring...! And since I'd much rather spend my time blogging, I figured I could make a survey to find out what you guys are interested in! This means that when I'm done with my work for today, I can write blog posts on topics that I know will interest you.

I must warn you, though - I've never made a survey before! So apologies in advance for the messy layout, I think it's just because I got a bit too eager and put a lot of different options in there, lol! I'm afraid you will have to scroll down a bit to find the first question! ;o) Oh and you can tick more than one option! :oD

I'm really looking forward to finding out what interests you all - and if I have left something out, you can tell me about it in the comment box!

Thanks in advance,
lots of love from Neens

Which subjects would you like to see more information about on The Power of Raw?

How to go raw

How to help others go raw

Detoxing

Raw food recipes

Juice recipes

Smoothie recipes

Juice feasting

Supplements

Superfoods

Permaculture

Foraging

Raw pets

Growing your own fruit & veg

Natural body & household products

Raw food events

Raw food books

Raw food equipment

Product reviews

If you checked more than one box, which subject are you most interested in?

Any comments? So we packed the van, loaded the dogs, sieved the coconut water and set off!

The light was so beautiful:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Izoh0tp-EGY/R5uKVx1ISYI/AAAAAAAAAKI/Va9fLkw7Nlk/s200/P1030240.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5159869904841099650" />
And Albie and Chester had lots of fun playing around in the slosh! :oD

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_Izoh0tp-EGY/R5uKXR1ISaI/AAAAAAAAAKY/WyR30PETHqM/s200/P1030327.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5159869930610903458" />
Yesterday, I had:
1.1 l of coconut water
0.5 l of apple, orange and ginger juice (from a juice bar)
0.5 l of apple juice
0.2 l of clementine juice
and a mug of Rooibos tea

So 2.2 litres of juice in total... not enough, by far!

And today, I had:
1.0 l of coconut juice
1.2 l of pineapple and spinach juice
1.3 l of honeydew melon juice

So 3.5 litres today. Oh and a mug of Cleanse tea from Pukka with lots of local honey. So better than yesterday, but still not quite there. The excuse I'm giving myself is that I spent most of these days away from home... But then I should have made the juices the night before, so my excuse just isn't good enough, I'm afraid... I won't accept it, lol! ;o)

Albie was so cute on the beach today... It was packed, being a Saturday, but Ben popped into the surf shop there and bought two tennis balls. It's so funny, Albie is totally toy-orientated, whereas Chester only really cares about food! :oD But they BOTH like competition! So the tennis balls went down a storm, and Albie completely ignored all the other people and dogs on the beach. He kept running off and putting the ball down so that I would run over there and kick it as far as I could... then he would repeat the procedure over and over and over again! :oD Here's a picture of him asking me nicely to please come over and play:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_Izoh0tp-EGY/R5uKWR1ISZI/AAAAAAAAAKQ/Iqq4sRex7mw/s200/P1030324.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5159869913431034258" />
And here's my favourite picture of them all, lol!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Izoh0tp-EGY/R5uKXx1ISbI/AAAAAAAAAKg/3xb0BczHfxc/s200/P1030340.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5159869939200838066" />
Lots of love from

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_Izoh0tp-EGY/R5uKVR1ISXI/AAAAAAAAAKA/De_PiKaW4Jg/s200/P1030342_trimmed.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5159869896251165042" />Neenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-62673601950492061602008-01-25T17:26:00.000Z2008-01-25T17:56:44.623ZMy Juice Feast: Day 25Yesterday, I had:
1.1 l of coconut water
1.0 l of pineapple and spinach juice

Uh-oh!!! Only 2.1 litres in total!

Yup, yesterday was definitely a day of fasting, not feasting... It started so well, with another puppy party at the vets first thing in the morning (is there a better way to ease into the day than playing with 5 beautiful little pupskies? I think not! ;o) and then I had the water from 3 coconuts when I got home. I wanted to get lots of energy because I had decided to walk Albie into town and back - I had to pay in a cheque which, ironically enough, Albie had taken a bite out of when it came through the mail slot. Not entirely sure why he was rewarded with a long walk... ;o) Fingers crossed that the cheque still goes through!

Anyway, after we had been to the bank, I was getting hungry again, so off I trotted to the local juice bar. It was closed... So I decided to get some water from one of the shops, but the thing is that the only way I could leave Albie outside was to tie his lead to one of the lamp posts... which are right on the kerb... which leaves you with the choice of either strangling your dog with an incredibly short lead or having him get run over while you're away... Not exactly an option...! So I ended up walking all the way back home without getting anything to drink. Once I got home I was exhausted, not just from the walk, but also from Mr. Finkelstein pulling so hard on the lead the whole time. (Finkelstein is Albie's last name, lol! His full name is Albert Larry Finkelstein. That one just happened, mainly because he's happy as Larry! And Chester is called Chester Brian Wulfric Dumbledore... we were thinking of calling him Brian at first, and later I watched the last Harry Potter film and was reminded that Brian is one of Dumbledore's middle names, lol!) Albie actually pulled me so hard that I ended up with blisters under my feet, from being dragged forwards in my shoes for hours on end! Naughty boy! That being said, he did heel beautifully for the last kilometre or so... and he is very pretty! Yup, it's impossible to be angry with that dog! Lol! To soothe my aches and pains, I boiled myself (i.e. had a very hot bath). That helped! And while I was in the bath, Ben was so sweet and made me the überyummy pineapple and spinach juice. It's funny, these days I need two whole bags of spinach to mix with the pineapple, anything less and it's far too sweet for me! Gotta love how those tastebuds are a-changing! Anyway, so at the end of all of this, I sat down to work. And then suddenly it was 11 pm... At that point I just went to bed.

What an incredibly long-winded way of saying that I didn't have enough juice because I lost track of time! Sorry!!! And I promise to be better tomorrow - both juice-wise and blog-wise! ;o) Among other things, there will be some nice photos from our trip to Saunton Sands in North Devon today!

Oooh, one more thing before I sign off for today (gotta make a lot of juice to keep the abovementioned promise, lol!) - the previous record of 66 unique visitors in one day was *smashed* yesterday! The new record is 76! :oD I still fear I'm the only one who cares about these numbers, but it's just so amazing to me, to think that 76 people around the world took time out of their day to visit my blog yesterday! So thank you ever so much, each and every one of you! :oDNeenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-7620338312166073602008-01-25T16:39:00.000Z2008-01-25T17:02:59.172ZDon't miss out on this amazing event!!If you've always wanted answers about how to live an incredible and healthy life directly from the experts - I've got great news!

Health advocate Kevin Gianni (who also created the first Raw Summit) has spent the last few months putting together an incredible panel of health experts that are changing the way people live their lives.

Check out this inspiring expert panel: Mike Adams (aka The Health Ranger of Newstarget.com), Byron Katie, Dr. Mark Hyman, Jonny Bowden, Jon Barron, Nomi Shannon, Jim Katsoulis, Jill Fleming, Craig Pepin-Donat and Dr. Richard DiCenso. Drumroll, please! ;o)

It's the first time I've found organic red peppers in Tesco and I loved them! I had to chuckle when I added the mint sprig to the last juice of the day though. The first thing you could read on the back of the bag was: "Suitable for vegetarians". No shit, Sherlock! ;o)

Just as I was about to scrape my tongue yesterday morning, I got a very pleasant surprise - there was hardly anything there to remove! My tongue is no longer white! Although after I've had some juice, it's green, lol! Seems like my candida will soon be nothing but a faint memory... ;o)

I just thought I'd mention that it's actually still possible to get downloads from the amazing Raw Summit 2 that was held in November last year. As you may remember, the line-up included such inspiring people as Anna & Brian Clement, Sergei Boutenko, Ani Phyo, Tim Van Orden and the UK's own Karen Knowler (aka The Raw Food Coach). The summit was hosted by Mark Perlmutter, the director of Raw For 30 Days (coming soon to a theatre near you ;o), and you can read more about it here. Mark has also just released a sneak peak of his Woody Harrelson interview, which you can find here. This is such a great way to make raw food mainstream, and I can't wait to see the film! :oD

I also wanted to thank you guys so much for all your thoughts and prayers for my friend who lost her unborn baby. She is doing a lot better now, which is wonderful. However, I received this from a friend of mine today:

btw, if you are good at sending out positive vibes, can you send some out for my parents please? they are having a tough time. landlords just gave them notice - they only moved last July!

So all you energy workers out there - if you could all send some loving thoughts and positive vibrations their way, it would mean a lot to my friend. I'm sending lots and lots of love your way, dear, and I am convinced they'll end up finding something much better and much more permanent. Not to worry - it will all work out in the end! :o)Neenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-48652885994096323232008-01-23T11:54:00.000Z2008-01-23T12:42:54.077ZMy Juice Feast: Day 23Yesterday we finally got to Tesco for a biiig grocery shop! And this week, we found all of 15 coconuts - and now they're all mine, mine, mine...! :oD Yummmmm! Yesterday's cashier had no idea what they were either, I do find that a bit puzzling, as they have been stocking them for around 6 months now, I think. I guess the cashiers just never venture over the the fruit & veg isles... Anywho, I bought enough produce to last me 5 days, I think! :oD

But was this to be a case of 'all is well that ends well'? Oh, no... Hysteria broke lose later in the day when I opened the fridge door to get some greens and found a neon green spider crawling around inside it! Oh the terror, the sheer terror of it all... I am NOT good with spiders!!! I must have terrified the doogies with my loud screams for help... Luckily, Ben hadn't left for work yet, so he captured the creature and set it free in the front garden. I tried to google it, but found no pictures of spiders that looked like it, and now I wish I had taken a picture but then again, that would involve getting faaaar too close to it... *shivers* Who knows if it was a native spider or a Costa Rican one who had hitched a ride with my coconuts? I hope we haven't set the scene for Arachnophobia part II... :o0

Anyway, yesterday I had:
1.5 l of honeydew melon juice
0.5 l of strawberry and apple juice (from a juice bar)
1.0 l of apple and celery juice
0.7 l of carrot and lime juice
0.5 l of watermelon juice

So a total of 4.2 litres! "Have a biscuit!" Lol! :oD Reading David & Katrina's e-mail yesterday helped me realise that I couldn't continue drinking so little juice every day. So last evening (well, closer to last night, really...) I set about making lots of extra juice for this morning. So when I woke up this morning I already ha 1.3 litres of watermelon juice waiting for me in the fridge, plus the two coconuts I tend to have each morning now (that's so quick and easy even I can cope with it in the mornings, lol!). Let's hope I can keep this up!

Yesterday I got my doogies a new chew toy. It was a rope shaped like a figure of eight, with the middle being a tennis ball. It's a tug-of-war toy, but Albert & Chester never had the time to figure that one out... Guess how long it lasted for? Less than a minute! Goodness me, can Albie chew! I am always on the look-out for really sturdy dog toys, and this was one of the best ones I've seen in a long time. Oh well, at least it was cheap! Because this is what it looks like now...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_Izoh0tp-EGY/R5cvix1ISWI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/DXH1ROTKiAg/s200/P1030196.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158644172714428770" />
Oh, and I ended up removing the e-mail reader counter and RSS reader counter this morning... You can still subsribe via RSS, just scroll to the bottom of the page and you will find it just above my juicer widget. It's just that the numbers were still totally random, I guess it's going to take FeedBurner a while to sort out the bug. I figured I was the only person who ever found the figures interesting, anyway, so now the sidebar has a slightly cleaner look. With statcounter.com I know exactly how many visitors I have anyway. Yesterday was a new daily record, actually - 66 unique visitors! I can't believe so many people are finding my random ramblings readable... ;o) And I really enjoy my new visitor map, which allows you to see when and where people are viewing this blog - you guys are from all over the world! It is amazing how the internet can bring us all together like this! :oD Ah, which reminds me: The Power of Raw reader community is currently undergoing MyBlogLog verification - which just means they are checking that my 'ownership' of this site is authentic. Thank you so much to those of you who have signed up (the 'Raw Power Readers' in the sidebar)! :oDNeenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-83588725689679150562008-01-22T16:58:00.000Z2008-01-22T17:11:11.808ZMy Juice Feast: Day 22Yesterday, day 22 of my juice feast, I woke up to the pitter-patter of tiny paws... well actually, no... Thanks to my newfound heightened sense of smell, I woke up the smell of puppy poo! Clever clogs Chester had kindly decided to leave me 3 little presents just in front of the bedroom door... what a sweetie... um... yeah. Oh well, at least smelling it long before I saw it stopped me from treading in any of it! Now I hope I can learn to smell his wee wee - he's started peeing in front of my office door, and the floor slopes a bit there, which means all the pee runs in under the door, and I end up putting my foot in it, so to speak, every time... ;o)

Yesterday, I had:
600 ml of coconut water
1.4 l of honeydew melon juice

So 2 litres in total, and no celery... We didn't get time to go grocery shopping yesterday, so I had to make do with what I found at the local. Not very inspiring, but there we are.

A few days ago, I e-mailed the lovely David & Katrina of juicefeasting.com fame to ask what kind of effect it has on my body when I don't get all 4 litres of juice in, and I received their reply yesterday. I figured I would post it here, just in case there's more people than me who are wondering about this:

Hello Neens!

Congratulations on Day 21!!!!

Less juice means a slower metabolism, which means your body will begin to go after muscle mass for fuel, which is not ideal. It also means that you are not re-building or re-alkalyzing as efficiently. A week of low juice intake is not so detrimental and there is no need for you to worry about it, but do try to keep it up at 4 liters or more every day!

David has found in his 5 years of coaching that people who drink more juice have significantly better results across the board. If you are drinking anything less than 3 liters a day than you are no longer Juice Feasting, but are fasting instead and should not go longer than a week on a fast unsupervised in our experience.

Hope that this helps, and happy juicing!

With Love,

David and Katrina

Ooops! This is exactly what I feared... From now on, I think I will just accept the fact that I'm not very good at juicing in the mornings, and just make loads of juice in the evenings instead, to keep in the fridge overnight. Hopefully that will suit my routine-less life a little bit better! I will let you know how it goes!Neenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5457049436964068684.post-5551836248025101952008-01-21T13:34:00.000Z2008-01-21T13:56:38.405ZMy Juice Feast: Day 21What a difference 21 days make!

My scales are being highly uncooperative (apparantly I have only lost 3 kg so far), so I decided to compare some pictures to see whether there is any change. Well, I think there is...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_Izoh0tp-EGY/R5SgDDF4aTI/AAAAAAAAAJo/erX4KDFANvw/s320/P1020927_trimmed.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157923447476087090" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Izoh0tp-EGY/R5ShezF4aUI/AAAAAAAAAJw/rfNYRudNSsM/s320/P1030163.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5157925023729084738" />
And I don't just mean more pimples, lol... ;o)

This morning (the morning of day 22) I did some body measurements again. It just feels and looks to me as though I have lost more than 3 kg, and the scales refusing the budge is a bit demoralising so I figured, let's check some figures (my figure(s), lol!)... Well... I have lost 1.5 cm off my arms, 2 cm off my thighs, 3 cm off my hips and 6 cm off my lady lumps! So I'm guessing I must be a bit littler all over and stuff the dumb scales, who cares what they say, right? ;o)

Yesterday, I had:
575 ml of coconut water
1.6 l of blueberry/orange/celery juice

Just over 2 litres in total... Seems like I'm back to my old habits, but in my defence, I am out of produce so we're off to do some grocery shopping again later today, when Ben comes home from work. Stupidly enough I forgot how blueberries (and blackberries for that matter) don't like being juice, and promptly turn into mousse... So there was a lot of sieving involved! But eventually I ended up with a lovely, thin, "clear" purple juice. Yummy!Neenshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18241804731352452515noreply@blogger.com
