By entering words, known as ‘keywords’ relevant to the desired information, product, or service, into the search field, users can employ these blind searches to look for content closest to what they are looking for.

As is the practice, a search engine usually produces a list of websites matching the keywords provided by the user to a degree of relevance. These are ranked by relevance, quality of content, and sometimes, ‘visitor votes’ that come in the form of a measure of frequency of visits by people who usually find the content useful to them.

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is a method used by many businesses and entrepreneurs online in order to maximize the potential of the search engine by helping them rise in the ranks of the query response listings. SEO usually deals with organic searches, or those that need no payment to be listed among the list of likely matches to a client’s keywords, as well as crawler search engines, which are search engines that literally crawl through web pages in search of relevant links and relations between pages in order to find relevant content.

Dubious figures in the Internet, however, have made use of the Internet to forward their own selfish desires, leading to an unethical use of the brilliant SEO model. This has led to a divergent field of SEO, called “black hat SEO”. In this method, various deceptive schemes are used in order to manipulate search engines and dupe customers by providing them with websites that are completely useless. This method is also called “spamdexing”.

Ethical SEO techniques also exist in the Internet. Before even going into details, the most important ideal behind ethical SEO techniques is in providing better service to clients, and allowing this satisfaction to become key in promoting the website.

What does it take for a method to become an ethical SEO technique?

There are various ways under the central guideline to achieve them.

The first one is creating quality content for the users. After all, no ethical SEO technique tries to get the better of any customer, or even harm them to the slightest extent. By providing quality content, users receive useful, timely, and secured information when they need it.

In order for that to be achieved, no amount of exaggeration or manipulation of the nature and content of the website is done to lead customers into believing that it contains the website relevant to their query. Ethical SEO does not employ any method that will mislead the customer into a site, and even offend the customer once he or she has found his or her way into the website.

Moreover, ethical SEO techniques do not, in any way, violate any laws as regards intellectual property rights, international law, or spamming laws implemented at every level of every way. This would include not claiming for their own products and services that are not theirs to sell or produce just so they can fool users into providing sensitive information through which they can extort money.

A website employing ethical SEO techniques will never try to exaggerate and reflect a company’s image any more than how it should be portrayed; doing so, in effect, manipulates the customer into trusting a company based on falsity.

Relevant to various security issues existent on the Internet, one last measure of how ethical a SEO technique is lies in the protection of its customers on the basis of privacy agreements. In providing the service sought by the client, ethical SEO techniques protect the confidentiality and sensitivity of the information made known to them in confidence by their clients.

Both goals aim to achieve the same end of profit. However, the road diverges and one must pick one over the other. In the end, ethical SEO techniques allow for users to maximize the profit they pay without impinging on the rights of other people an manipulating others; this by far is the best option to go.

www.outsourcingseosolutions is a company that provides ethical and modern search engine optimization solution. What is true is that seo starts with creating a search engine friendly website. This means the website must be free of errors and constructed in a way that search engines like. There is a lot that a web-designer needs to know, the basics and some tricks are covered in this article.

The construct

Building a website starts with building the construct or also called the prototype. This prototype is a well constructed site architecture with a professional design and a good link structure. The prototype is the construct in which you embed the content. When designing a prototype you need to keep various marketing aspects in mind. What colour to choose, what kind of pictures, the text-size and what about the background?

As you can see, there are various things that you need to decide. Below is a list of things that will help you to achieve better rankings in search engines.

- use cascading stylesheets to separate the design from the content.

- use div tags rather than tables because tables make your file size big.

- make sure the h1 tag is located at the top of your source code.

- use h1 and h2 tags and integrate your keywords in it.

- use image alt tags with your keywords

- use meta-tags in your header

- outsource your javascript code

These are things that will, if done properly, increase your searchengine rankings. Of course you need to use your keywords throughout the text on your website, but do not care much about keyword density in your body text.

Once you have designed your prototype, you need to run a validator to see if you have any errors in your code. You can find these free html validators by doing a search on google. Make sure your html source code is W3C valid! Once your prototype is ready, you can copy and paste your content into it and save each website under a keyword relevant name.

There are several tools out there that can help you to create searchengine friendly websites. This starts with finding the best keywords and ends with validation of your source code. The best program for these and more issues is definitely the Internet Business Promoter. I use this program every day to find niche keywords, to optimize my websites for better rankings and to automatically and semi-automatically promote my websites.

You can get the Internet Business Promoter here: http://www.leads-traffic.com/products/ibp.htm

You can get the Internet Business Promoter here: IBP

Article Source: http://www.articlegold.com

Article URL: http://www.articlegold.com/Article/How-to-build-a-search-engine-friendly-website/8300Maxinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5309178260973001880.post-81748228572378229882007-10-11T06:49:00.002-07:002007-10-11T06:52:14.160-07:00SEO Techniques: Increase the SE Ranking of your Website by AuroinHigher search engine ranking is necessary to improve the sales of your products and services. In reality, the process isn't all that terribly difficult. As long as a few basic steps are taken and common sense is employed, even a beginner can come up with a good starting game plan for locating the right keywords.

Researching keywords prior to creating a lot of content for a website is an absolute must if optimization is desired though. Although it's possible to insert keywords after the fact, it can be a royal pain in the neck that results in stilted copy.

There are several things that should be focused on when picking out keywords. The most important is the fact that not every person searches in the same manner. There are a number of ways to say exactly the same thing using a variety of different word combinations. The methods a particular person uses to find a website can be impacted by gender, age, profession, education and even country of origin and so on.

When picking keywords out, relevancy should be a top priority. It is possible to pull traffic by using keywords that don't fit, but the effort smacks of dishonesty. It can irritate visitors, reduce potential sales and even upset advertisers (if your site has them). Picking words that truly describe products, services or the site's focus is simply the best route to go.

As you start the process, the first thing to do is pick up a pen and piece of paper. Brainstorm every word and phrase you can conjure that web surfers might use to visit pages that relate to your topic. Ask others for their ideas, too, especially if friends, family or co-workers happen to fall into your target demographics.

Once you have a potential keyword list created, hit the Internet to refine and revise it. Search engine databases can be very useful for seeing what words are used to find sites like yours. AdWordAnalyzer.com, Wordtracker, Google and Overture can all be helpful tools to this end. These sites can give you an idea of what kinds and how many sites come up when you search for the keywords and phrases you've chosen.

It is now a very good idea to really consider the targeted audience. Consider the words on your list that these folks would actually use to find your site. Cross off those that don't fit. Remember, conversational language is more common in searches than advertising or marketing jargon. Short phrases that are quite basic are generally the best.

Even with a well-researched list, it is important to remember optimization is an ongoing process. It is very likely you'll revise your keywords from time to time. Don't fret if it doesn't go right the first time out.

With a good list of keywords ready to go, start writing copy or have it written for you. Make sure the keywords go into copy that's useful, pertains to the topic and isn't keyword stuffed. Don't overload with copy for the sake of overloading. Make sure it's useful, informational or interesting and don't forget to include keywords in titles.

Finding the right keywords the first time out can be a tough proposition. It does get easier with practice. Look at is as an ongoing process and the job will seem a little less daunting.

Provided by ArticleGOLD: Articles Directory - Article Directory
Maxinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5309178260973001880.post-55063906025732437202007-10-11T06:48:00.000-07:002007-10-11T06:51:42.517-07:00Do-It-Yourself Search Engine OptimizationDo-It-Yourself Search Engine Optimization by david lechner

Getting people to post in your forum is probably the hardest thing to do. First, not all of your readers will post messages. In fact, only a small percentage will post regularly, and most will never post at all. Second, nobody want to be the first person to post a message. In fact, topic starters (people that start new topic of discussion) will be a small percentage of your posters; the rest will simply reply to topics that have been started.

In order to get the forum to a point where it is self-sustaining, you will have to do a lot of work. Here are some tips that you can use to get your forum rolling:
If nobody will start a post, start it yourself
Register yourself as several members (you with multiple identities) and talk to yourself. (Note that this will not work in forum with logged IP). This will create enough "seed" posts to get people to read and perhaps add replies of their own.

Find topics that interest people
If you get a mental block and cannot find anything interesting to talk to yourself about, then go to other web sites and see what people in those communities are talking about in their forums. You can also look at usenet newsgroups. Digest these ideas and regurgitate them using your various identities.

Advertise your forums relentlessly
Make sure your forum is accessible from every page of your site, particularly the index page. Make the link highly visible, or outright talk about it on the home page. Add a link to your web site and forum as part of your email, usenet and forum signature. Frequent other forums and mention your site and forum from time to time (be careful to comply to their rules and not to spam).
Use your forums to support your web site
You can ask your visitors "What do you think about this article?" (or tool, tutorial, etc.) and ask them to post their comments in the forums. Additionally, use it as part of your customer support program. For instance, I use our web site forums to support our free PHP scripts.

Use your forums to announce new changes to your site
This is a great way to make announcement because people can write their thoughts about the new feature (or article) you've just added.

Find allies
There are many webmasters that have the exact same dilemmas as yours. Look for sites with empty or low traffic forums and email these webmasters. Offers to join their forums and post a few messages, then ask them if they can return you the same favor. If they want to know why you are bothering them, ask them to read this article.

Barter
Even if they don't have a forum, offer to write about their web site or add a link to their site in exchange for some posts.

Recruit moderators
As your member population grows, find a few good posters (the ones that post high-quality messages and replies) and ask them if they want to help you moderate the forum. Give them more rights than other users so that they can edit and/or delete other people posts at their discretion. They will help you keep the forum in order, make sure all the rules are followed and help you answers questions. Many people are happy to take on this challenge.

Do email follow up with your members
Send email to members that registered, but have not returned in a long time. Tell them what has change since their last visit and why it may be worthwhile for them to return to your site. Try to do this about once every quarter, but do not do this more than once a month. Be sure to respect their rights by including appropriate unsubscribe information and take their name off the mailing list at their request.

Offer incentives
Some forums like this one offers incentives for forum members to make posts. For instance, I offer free text-link advertisement in exchange for posts.

Hire a Professional
This would be my last option, but it may work for you. There are professional message posters out there that will participate in your forums by starting threads and posting replies. This is a good solution if you are really stuck and need someone else to help you get the forums going.

Some other things to keep in mind is that you should start your forums small with perhaps 3-4 categories, then slowly expand and create more categories. This way, the forums does not look so empty. Additionally, some forums software has polling features. Use these to your advantage. Controversial polls and topics can create flurries of activity.

As a final note, please tell me what you think about this article in our webmaster forums (did you get the idea?).

Back to Website Building Tutorials

http://webhosting-reviewz.com/domain-name-guides/longevity.html

Article Source: http://www.articlegold.com

Article URL: http://www.articlegold.com/Article/Do-It-Yourself-Search-Engine-Optimization/10974Maxinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5309178260973001880.post-89971528437936435502007-10-11T06:45:00.000-07:002007-10-11T06:47:56.498-07:00The Art Of Selecting Keywords For Your Small Business Website
One of the most important aspects of search engine optimization (SEO) is the proper selection of keywords or key phrases. Keywords are the terms that searchers enter when using search engines like Google or Yahoo. For instance, a user looking for someone to help them build a small business website might enter terms like ‘website design’ or ‘small business website’ into the search box. The search engines use those terms to find ‘relevant’ web pages.

What makes a page relevant to any particular search is the topic of another discussion, but it is clear that the presence of related keywords on a webpage create a high degree of relevance. So in the search for help building a small business website, search engines will be looking for web pages that contain the specific search terms as well as other information that is relevant to the same term.

Selecting the proper keywords for your website is crucial to making sure your pages are returned when searchers are looking for the products, services or information you are providing. While there is certainly a lot of information available about how to select keywords, in reality, keyword selection is as much art as it is science. It is a mix of ratios, search probabilities and good detective work to figure out what searches will be looking for, and how the search engines will relate you webpage to their searches.

In general, you can think of keywords as mini ads for your website. Make you ads to generic and searches, and search engines, may overlook the specific thing they are searching for. You can think of keywords as falling into three basic categories: Niche, Primary and Secondary.

Niche keywords are very specific and may result in a low volume of searches but a higher listing in search results. For instance, a site that sells SEO services may focus on the keyword phrase ‘increase ExactSeek page rank.’ For searchers who are knowledgeable enough to understand this term and are targeting the ExactSeek search engine there is a high chance your site will show up in a search for ‘Increase my page rank on ExactSeek.’ However, there will be less people searching for this phrase then say, ‘get better search engine rankings’ or ‘get better search results on Yahoo.’ The up side with niche keywords is that there is less competition for the keyword.

Primary keywords are those that appear to be a good balance between volume of search and competitive use. These are the words you should consider focusing your SEO efforts on. These words have good amounts of search volume because they are relatively generic, however they are a good match for your website’s content. These keywords do have competitors, but there is likely enough search volume to generate traffic for your site. A page optimized on the keyword ‘non-profit website design’ would be relevant to a good number of related searches but would have less competition than a page optimized for ‘website design.’

Secondary keywords provide a good volume of searches but have a higher level of competitors. An example is ‘website design.’ While there are lots of people searching for ‘website design’ there are millions and millions of competitors. Secondary keywords should not be ignored because of the potential volume, however, trying to optimize for such a generic term without other primary or niche keywords will likely not lead to much traffic.

In summary, ideal keywords receive a reasonable number of searches in major or niche search engines, are relevant to your site’s content and are not heavily used by competitors. Keywords that have below average search volumes still may be excellent choices because they may be very relevant to your specific content and have limited competitors. Select multiple keywords for your site and consider using unique keywords for each page if the content is different.

Aubrey Jones is President and founder of Riverbank Consulting, Inc. However, if they do not begin receiving results after varying lengths of time, they become discouraged and give up.

This article will explore some of the reasons why people fail to succeed in affiliate marketing.

Lack of Advertising

Most affiliates fail in this area because they lack the ability to do hard work, which is very important in affiliate marking or any other business for that matter. Luck is a wonderful thing, but you simply cannot rely on it.

Affiliate marketing is not just a matter of sending customers to your website or affiliate link. If it is your desire to earn big, then you will need to invest your time and a great deal of hard work into promoting the products. Remember, the competition is high, and people today are wise and always weary of a scam. After all, who doesn’t want to get the best deals, paying less for something and getting more in terms of quantity and quality?

Lack of Preparation

Yet, another reason why people fail to succeed in affiliate marketing. You will need to do some research. Research the merchant, does their products or services match your interests so that you will give your full attention and dedication to the program. Study the terms; is the merchant reliable, will you get paid by them?

Join affiliate forums, to learn about affiliate programming and read articles or websites on affiliate marketing to get tips from experienced affiliate marketers. You may be able to get some assistance on how to choose the best merchants and products with the higher conversion rates.

Create Your Own Website

No, you do not have to have your own website, but is much more professional. From the domain name to the design, the ad layouts and of course, some good high quality content. Provide relevant information that visitors will want to come back to again and again. Remember, on average, it can take up to 7 visits before a customer buys from you. So, if you only have a sales page, you are probably going to lose out on a lot of purchases.

Educate Yourself

As an affiliate marketer, you must always be willing to learn more. There are always new things to learn, so educating yourself and improving your marketing strategies is a must!

Most affiliates fail because they are only concerned with earning big bucks and not growing with their business. If your wish is to get long-term, highly satisfactory results, take some time to learn the ins and outs of your business. Especially the basics such as advertising, promoting and search engine optimization. You will need to continually improve your knowledge in these areas.

Persistence, Persistence, Persistence

You may be disappointed if your first attempts do not pay off, but do not give up! Hundreds, even thousands of people are intrigued with the possibility of earning incomes that are through the roof with affiliate marketing.

So, what they do is sign up for any affiliate program without really knowing every aspect of the business. When they do not see immediate results, they quit and join another program and keep repeating the process until they get fed up with everything.

Don’t expect quick riches when you sign up for any affiliate program. Work on your advertising strategies and be patient. You’ll never really know how much money you can earn if you do not persevere!

By: Connie M.

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Connie McKenzie is a full-time work at home mom who devotes herself to doing the things she loves to do most. With online affiliate marketing you simply place your affiliate ID embedded links on your web pages and if a customer clicks your link and proceeds to that designated company's site and makes a purchase or signs up for a service, you earn a commission.

Affiliate marketing, if done right, can prove to be a very lucrative venture. Commissions can run anywhere from a few pennies to thousands of dollars for just one click or sale. Professional marketers develop affiliate relationships with hundreds of companies and build sites to promote these companies and products.

Needless to say, the advent of the Internet has been a golden opportunity for affiliate marketers to really expand their promotions and marketing. As more as more customers choose to buy online, advertising and purchases keep increasing at a maddening pace.

To accommodate all this online ecommerce we have seen the birth of large affiliate networks, operated by large corporations. Make no mistake, affiliate marketing is big business, accounting for billions in sales and commissions.

What is an Affiliate Network?

An affiliate network is a third party facilitator which brings affiliates and companies together. It connects Advertisers (companies with products or services to sell) together with Publishers (those who display and promote these products or services) so they can do business. The affiliate network does all the tracking, accounting and payment of commissions.

The following Top 10 list of the best Affiliate Networks is compiled by an actual full-time affiliate marketer who has worked these programs for over five years. This list is subjective and based on first-hand experience. It should be seen in this light and every marketer probably will have a different list or have these in a different picking order depending on the type and nature of their marketing.

But this list of the 10 Best Affiliate Networks will give you a general rundown on these affiliate networks and how they operate.

1. Commission Junction (www.cj.com)

Now owned by ValueClick, Commission Junction was one of the first affiliate networks. It is also one of the most important with many of the Top Fortune 500 companies listed here.

CJ is an international network with excellent stats and tracking (some of the best you will find), along with regular monthly payments makes this the obvious first choice for anyone wishing to try affiliate marketing. For those new or old at affiliate marketing, CJ also holds regular seminars and training sessions.

Most merchants offer pay-per-lead or pay-per-sale, one of the best features is the performance bonuses and incentives. As most experienced marketers will know, selling 50k to 100k each month for merchants will bring in the big incentives or bonuses.

Commissions run as high as 50% but most are in 3% to 15% range. You have the option of direct deposit for your payments. One major plus, CJ will tell you which merchants and ads are earning the most revenue for affiliates so you can easily choose which merchants are worth promoting.

2. ClickBank (www.clickbank.com)

ClickBank is another professional affiliate network with excellent stats and tracking. Easy to use and pays every two weeks.

ClickBank is slightly different from the other networks in that it deals mainly with digital download products. The commissions from ClickBank are usually much higher than the other networks, around 40% to 50% or more.

ClickBank has over 10,000 products but keep in mind, info-marketing products will have stiff competition from all the savvy and well established Internet marketers promoting these same products. Consider youself warned!

The most successful marketing tactic here is to first dominate your targeted niche with your blogs and sites, then find affiliate products to match your content or niche subject matter, whether it be gardening equipment, gaming laptops or Mediterranean cruises!.

3. LinkShare (www.linkshare.com)

LinkShare is another excellent affiliate network. It is one of the oldest affiliate networks on the web. LinkShare was recently acquired by the Japanese Portal Rakuten, with a price tag of $425 million.

Very good stats and reporting with their Synergy Analytics system. Many Top Fortune 500 companies are presented here so you will no trouble finding products and services to promote. LinkShare pays commissions as they receive them from merchants - monthly checks.

4. Affiliate Window (www.affiliatewindow.com)

Affiliate Window is an UK based affiliate network which offers top brand companies and good commission rates. Pays once a month and has excellent stats.

Savvy affiliate marketers know promoting in other countries can be much easier than promoting in the American market place. Mainly because these other countries haven't become saturated with online marketers, little competition means more sales.

5. Amazon (www.amazon.com)

Amazon is another excellent affiliate network to join if you want to sell products from your site or blog. Amazon has excellent stats and the links are very easy to create and place on your web pages.

You also have the option of creating your own store with Amazon aStores. Amazon also now has context link ads and Widgets!

Commission rates are somewhat lower than the other networks but making sales thru Amazon is much, much easier. You will make more sales mainly because Amazon is a well known and trusted online company. Amazon now pays monthly.

6. Shareasale (www.shareasale.com)

Shareasale is yet another easy system to work with good stats and simple to create links. With 1,700+ merchants to choose from, Shareasale is another good affiliate network to promote.

The control panel is easy to use and the reporting is very good. Usually pays the month following your sales.

7. Google (www.google.com/adsense/)

Many won't think of Google as an Affiliate network but it does run affiliate products thru its Adsense program. Very few products but like everything from Google it is professionally run and top caliber all the way.

Please note, top marketers know affiliate links/products on their content pages will return 10 times what Google Adsense will give them. However, these marketers will also know using Google Adsense on less targeted pages throughout your sites or blogs will give you a healthy return.

Besides receiving that monthly check from a multi-billion dollar company like Google will put a smile on your face every time.

8. LinkConnector (www.linkconnector.com)

LinkConnector is a relatively new affiliate network which launched in 2004. It has Pay Per Click, Pay Per Sale and Pay Per Lead. Good stats and reporting. Worth checking out for their different types of new affiliate technology such as Direct Linking which passes pagerank along to the merchant's site.

9. CPA Empire (www.cpaempire.com)

Great CPA (Cost Per Action) network especially if you do a lot of email marketing and promotions. Geared towards acquiring leads and sign-ups but does offer other merchants as well. Good stats and reporting.

10. Independents

Individual affiliate deals with different companies which may or may not be listed with the major networks above. Your independent affiliate deals will be some of your most lucrative since you can sometimes work out separate private commission rates and bonuses. Aim for residual income here. Don't ignore this aspect of affiliate marketing as it will pay the highest dividends.

Keep in mind, all the above affiliate networks are middlemen, they come between you and the merchant you're promoting. For affiliates with a proven track record, who have shown they can deliver the customers and sales, a private deal cutting out the middleman/fees can prove very beneficial for both parties. If you're fortunate enough to become known as a super affiliate, these private deals will become more common and more profitable.

Professional affiliate marketers use all of the above networks to create multiple income streams from their marketing efforts. In the process, they build a healthy monthly income for themselves and their families. There is no reason why you can't do the same.

Copyright (c) 2007 Titus Hoskins

By: Titus Hoskins

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

The author is a full-time online marketer who has numerous websites, including two sites on Internet marketing. Don’t expect to earn much from this method but I can guarantee you, sales will come in! Take this as a stepping stone, earn a few hundred bucks and roll the money!

A forum is an online discussion group where participants with common interests can exchange open messages.

Promoting affiliate programs in forum is extremely easy and profitable. Go to any of your favorite search engines and look for “forum+stay at home moms” or whatever your site or affiliate programs is all about. The you will be automatically be in touch with people who are specifically related to you site or affiliate programs. This is a technique I discovered to make money online very quickly without spending a dime.

You can do this by including a signature block at the end of which of your posts containing a link to you affiliate programs. So forums do not allow direct affiliate links in their post but there are plenty that do. The same applies for you when you are writing articles online and would like to contain your affiliate link within the text. There is an easy solution to this but how? Purchase a domain name and redirect your domain name to your affiliate link!

Domain name can be purchase with price ranging from $8 to $20 per year. It’s a small investment which can provide you with huge rewards. Choose a different domain name for each affiliate programs you wish to promote. For example, if you wish to promote an affiliate program called “Golf For Beginners”, then you can buy a domain name related to this affiliate programs. You may need to check the availability of the domain name that you wish to purchase. I bought mine from GoDaddy.com. Once you purchase the domain name, go to the homepage of the company that you purchase it from and do the following steps:

-go to your account setting
-manage domain
-domain forwarding
-insert URL or website address which you would like your domain name to be forwarded to (your affiliate link)
-save the settings

That’s it! It may take up to 48 hours to process the results but from then on, whenever someone type your domain, the site will be immediately redirected to the affiliate website which you have signed up with. You can then use the domain name of website address in your signature block in forum posts, on blogs or in articles and you will be driving traffic to the merchant site.

If you join a forum, I recommend that you participate for a few days before you start introducing your affiliate program to others. Read the rules of the forum that you participate before you do any post to prevent your post being deleted. Different forum have different rules, so read up the rules before you post.

Even if you are not constantly raving about your specific products, you could go in and chat. That is also very profitable because you can customize your signature block. Underneath your signature text, make sure you put a link to your affiliate programs. That way, everytime you post, other will see your signature, and they click on it and decided to make a purchase, you would make money.

By: Li Ming Wong

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Li Ming Wong is an internet marketer. With billions of page views every month it's not a surprise that Craigslist has the ability to offer many financial opportunities for the alert internet marketer willing to learn how to cash in on Craigslist's popularity. Internet marketers in the know use affiliate marketing to increase their online profitability. Craigslist is beneficial to ecommerce business owners looking for affiliate marketers to promote their offers. It is also beneficial for people who do affiliate marketing searching for new businesses to promote for. This article is an overview of locating affiliates to promote for you or to locate affiliate offers to promote.

Affiliate Marketing Basics

Basically, affiliate marketing is a marketing technique where business owners pay someone (an affiliate) on a performance basis. In conventional marketing business owners pay upfront for advertising. No matter what outcome is produced by the ads. Affiliate marketing is different in that business owners pay only when specific actions occur. Businesses typically pay online affiliates for performing one of three certain actions. This could be paying per click (PPC), per sale(PPS), or per lead(PPL). All three of these are also referred to as 'pay per action' or PPA.

In PPC affiliate marketing campaigns an affiliate uses a coded link in their email or website. Each time someone clicks the coded link it goes to business' website. The business can tell which affiliate generated the click using the code embedded in the link. The affiliate then receives the agreed upon payment. For PPC this usually varies from fractions of cents to several cents.

With PPS campaigns an affiliate doesn't get compensated just for sending visitors to the sponsoring website. The visitor also has to purchase something for the affiliate to get credit. Again, payment varies. Typically ranging from several cents to several dollars per sale or sales. This can be a flat rate or percentage of sales the affiliate generates.

In PPL programs an affiliate gets paid if visitors click through the affiliates coded link and then follows through on giving the additional information the sponsoring business wants. This could be as simple as visitors sharing their email address for an online newsletter, or as complex as filling out a loan application. Again, payment varies, but is usually a flat rate.

Finding Potential Affiliates

A business owner that is interested in locating affiliates for promoting their offer can use Craigslist to help them find such affiliates. Though it seems logical to list affiliate opportunities under the jobs category at Craigslist, it's important to know that this goes against the sites rules for job postings. This simply means that if you are looking to find affiliates you'll have to do so by using different areas on Craigslist.

Any discussion forums that are related to your offer are a way to locate potential affiliates. If you use this method, though, be careful to avoid spamming the forums with sign up links for your program. Spamming techniques like this make you look unprofessional to any potential affiliates and if the Craigslist moderators see fit, they will ban you from the forums. Making a logical and relevant contribution to discussions and getting to know other forum participants is an ideal way to connect with potential affiliates. Then you can add a link for more information about your affiliate offer when you make posts.

Affiliate Opportunities

People who earn an income by being an affiliate promoter for business owners can locate new affiliate programs on Craigslist. Even though there are rules against it, sometimes such listings do end up in the jobs section. These ads will probably removed quickly, but it's possible to take advantage of them if you act before they are taken down. Of course, some forum postings may contain links to affiliate programs as well. Another way is to post requests in the services or resumes section.

More information on Craigslist can be found at: http://www.guidetocraigslist.com

By:

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Graduate Student who has spent a lot of time on Craigslist and decided to "put up" an information site on it after finding out that a lot of people still have NO idea what it is. www.guidetocraigslist.com
Maxinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5309178260973001880.post-8936645488578311762007-10-09T08:30:00.001-07:002007-10-09T08:30:26.233-07:00Make Money Online With Google Adsense
You have probably heard a lot about Google Adsense but you may not know what it is. Well, one thing for sure, it’s one of the hottest way to make money online if you own a website. You can add Google Adsense to your blog.

Google Adsense is a fast and absolutely easy way for people with websites of all types and sizes to put up and display relevant ads on the content pages of their sites and make money online.

Because Google Adsense ads relates to what your visitors came to your site to read about, or because the ads match up to the interest and the characteristics to the kind of people your content attracts, you now have a way to improve your content pages and make money online off them.

So what type of ads do you have to put? That’s the good part, you don’t have to decide. Google does it for you. Adsense always delivers relevant ads that are precisely targeted, on a page by page basis to the content that people find on your site. For example, if you have a page that tells the story of your pet fish, Google will send you ads for that site that are for pet stores, fish food, fish bowls, aquariums … you get the picture.

If you decide you want to add a Google search box to your site, then Adsense will deliver relevant ads targeted to the Google search results that your visitors’ search request generated.

What can Google Adsense do for you? In three words, make money online. More relevant pages on your ads translate into more clicks and make more money online for you. Because when users click on an ad, Google pay you.

It is important that you create ads that really integrate into the design of you website seamlessly. Take off borders and create the background color the same as the background color of the particular webpage.

By: Li Ming Wong

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Li Ming Wong is an internet marketer. It is because in this business, there are no bosses to order the employees around. There are no deadlines to meet and no clutter of work do to. One only needs to be equipped with the tools needed to succeed in a business such as this, and he is bound to get what his heart ultimately desires.

Just what are the things needed to be able to succeed in affiliate marketing? What must one have within himself to be able to do well in this industry? There is a lot of competition involved in affiliate marketing, and to be able to rise above the norm, one must be equipped with just the right stuff necessary to propel him forward. There are five things one must ultimately possess if he wants to achieve the glory he is yearning for in this business, and these five things are a must for him to possess to be able to stand out among the rest.

The very first quality one must possess if he wants to try his hand in affiliate marketing is the willingness to learn and be trained. Treading through unfamiliar territory is scary stuff if one is not properly equipped, and he might get lost amidst a jungle of the unknown. Learning the tricks of the trade is also an important aspect of the game, and one’s willingness to know it all will give him far better advantages in the business than he could ever imagine.

The second quality one must possess is the willingness to invest time and effort even if direct results do not seem at all apparent. Although several months may pass without good news, it is important for one who has his foot in the industry to hold on and wait. It is this quality which would save him from giving up after investing a lot of himself in the business.

The third quality one must possess is self-determination. If one wants to conquer the affiliate marketing world, he must have the ability to push himself ahead. Never having to say die is a quality each and every affiliate marketer should possess, and the ability to motivate oneself into scaling greater heights is an ability which would actually take an affiliate marketer there.

The fourth quality one must possess is discipline. If one knows how to teach himself to work everyday with all the energy he can muster, then he is close to achieving what he has set his heart to having in the first place.

The fifth and last quality one must possess is optimism. Negative attitudes and hearsays should not discourage an affiliate marketer from pursuing what he has to in order to make life better for himself and for everyone concerned. Neither should anyone influence his attitude toward the business, because once in it, it is a must for him to be the captain of his ship and the master of his soul.

The ingredients to success in a business such as affiliate marketing are diverse and manifold, but the most important thing one needs to be able to make it big lies in himself alone. It is he who has the capacity to do everything to be able to realize his prospects, and the desire which fuels his heart in doing so is the gasoline which should keep the engine going.

Affiliate marketing is all about putting one’s fate into his own hands. The right attitude is the key to being able to steer one’s ship into that part of the ocean where a certain kind of serenity can be found, one that permeates the atmosphere as the ship sails calmly on.

By: Terry Simpson

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Terry Simpson www.simpson-work-at-home.com You can use this article as long as the resource box is attached. In order to see results (i.e a commission check), you've have got to follow a plan. Here is my simple strategy that you can use to take your affiliate marketing business to the next level:

1. Select a affiliate marketplace that has a ton of product. The reason why this is important is because you need to be able to have a array of products that relates to your niche. I recommend clickbank because of it's tenure and dependability of paying you your commissions on time. It is very important to have a reliable company, so that you don't end up putting in a lot of hard work and effort, make sales and then not get paid. Clickbank's reputation for paying as scheduled ( every 2 weeks) is paramount.

2. After you have found your marketplace, it is now time to choose a niche. Many marketers fail in this arena because they are simply trying to promote a different array of products to everyone. It just doesn't work. I suggest that you go after an audience that is targeted to the audience you are trying to reach. After you have decided what that will be, then you will need to choose at least 4 products that compliment each other. for example, if you are targeting a golf audience, then a good thing to do would be to choose a product on how to perfect your golf swing, the best places to play golf, how to pay cheap green fees, and how to improve your score in 45 days or less. these are just examples, but I hope you get the picture.

3.Next you want to set up a website or blog (preferably a blog). You can get a free blog at wordpress or blogger. After you have set up your blog site, you need to make it relevant to what you are promoting. An example would be a golf blog with a golf them. Make sure that the title of your blog is relevant to your products. Choose strong keywords. A good way to find good keywords for your title, is to look at the descriptions of your selected products and also pay close attention to the words in the title. I sometimes use one of the titles of my selected products as a title for my blog site. for some reason, search engines love this!

4.Okay, next you need to write at least 3 articles on each one of your products, so for example, if you selected 4 products, then you would write 12 articles. These articles need to be keyword strong, but don't overdo it. If for some reason, you don't consider yourself an effective writer, then you can hire ghostwriters to write for you for a nominal fee. After you have your articles, it would be a good idea to place one a day on your blog and include the product affiliate links in the articles. After you have done that, you should also submit your articles to article directories. In most cases, you cannot include affiliate links in the articles themselves, however, you can place a link back to your blog in a resource box. A resource box is a small bio that you place at the end of your articles. It is important that you make your articles interesting enough that people will want to read down to your bio. That way, you have a better chance of them wanting to visit your site. Once they reach your site, it is a good chance that they might be interested in buying your affiliate products.

5.Submit your blog to every social bookmarking site that you can find. this really drives traffic and moves you up in the search engine ranks, as well. there are many sources. My favorites are stumbleupon, de.li.cio.us and feedshark. There are a ton of others that you can use. Just go to your favorite search engine and you will find them.

6.Put a sign up box on your site and give your readers a reason to sign up to your mail list. One good reason would be to give away a product that is related to what you are promoting. Sometimes, I bundle all of articles together in one report, convert it to .pdf, give it a title and give it away to my subscribers. I also give them rights to distribute that report to anyone or everyone. Why? because my links are embedded in the report and it gives me more opportunity to make more sales. Once you have captured their email address, keep in touch with them and share resources, tips and tools that they can use, which are related to your niche. This will not only brand you as an expert, it will also allow you to build trust and credibility with your subscribers. Don't bombard them with sales offers. Once they trust you, they will come to you.

7.Another affiliate marketing success tip is to contact the authors of your niche products and set up interviews with them. You can promote this to your list as a live seminar, in which during the seminar, they will be given the opportunity to buy the author's product, with your link of course, or as a bonus recording for joining your list.

These 7 things and more, if done as outlined, will make you a super affiliate marketer in no time.

By: Lonnie Robinson

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Lonnie Robinson is known as one of the top affiliate marketers on the internet. The trouble is, many affiliates make certain affiliate marketing mistakes that spoil their entire income plan. Many give up quickly and simply blame internet marketing as an impossible income opportunity to succeed in if you are just a one-man operation. The truth cannot be further than that really. We will look at 3 most fatal mistakes most affiliates make and how to avoid them so that your profits are protected and would experience increase.

Affiliate Marketing Mistake 1 – Choosing to Promote Hotties

What are hotties? You see them everyday in your emails from other affiliate marketers. Many would promote the latest product without looking at whether it is really good. All they know is that since the guru next door is doing so, I will also promote the product. After all, it is hot.

This is where the booby trap is. If you are not an established and famous affiliate marketer with a list of 100,000 members, how can you convince them to buy from you when your guru next door is also pitching the same thing? Worse still, some of the sales pitches you receive in the inbox carry the same title and email content and the affiliates do not even bother to change them.

Rather than hopping on all these bandwagons, work out a suitable promotion plan that is closely tied to your niche. Choose a product that you really know about and have enough in-depth information about it. This will make it easier and more natural for you to come across as a reliable reviewer. People are more convinced to buy from you then.

Affiliate Marketing Mistake 2 – Promoting Too Many Affiliate Products

Everyday, affiliate products come and go. Every product owner will make that product sound like it is the best you can ever find and how it is going to dominate the internet marketing scene for years to come. The truth is, programs come and go and you just have to accept that almost all except a few really outstanding ones are here to stay.

So do not bite off what you can chew. You only have 24 hours a day, and cannot be promoting every single product or program you come across. Focus on one good product, monetize your website with that and build your traffic until it hits its optimal level or at least until the point where sales and traffic stabilize on autopilot.

The rule of the game is to promote a product that pays you at least 50% commissions and Clickbank is one good place to look at.

Affiliate Marketing Mistake 3 – Ignorant About The Product Promoted

Some affiliates would disagree with me on this but I will still say it anyway. The best product recommendations can be written only when you are an existing user of a product or service. This is how your prospects can truly sense the real voice behind each recommendation or email broadcast they receive.

Give them a detailed review of the pros and cons and what you like about the service or product. This would give you an edge over your competitors. Consider reinvesting your profits monthly back into purchasing and reading different ebooks. In the process, you can pick up some new and powerful techniques while at the same time, be able to prepare a really thorough product recommendation. If you have a list, your subscribers would appreciate your honesty and efforts.

Avoid these top 3 common affiliate marketing mistakes and you are well on your way to becoming a top-notch affiliate. Through affiliate marketing merchants get free exposure and only pay out commission to affiliates when a sale is made or an action is taken. Although any merchant can introduce their affiliate programs to gain maximum exposure and drive more sales, not all affiliate programs will get good responses from affiliates. So, what makes up a successful affiliate marketing program?

In order to success in affiliate marketing, the affiliate program should benefit both merchant and affiliate. A successful affiliate program offered by merchant should have component that potential affiliates should look for. The most important component in an affiliate program is commission payments. You must decide whether you will pay affiliates a commission on sales only, or pay them by some other incentive. As a merchant, here are your choices of commission payment:

* Pay-per-sale
You will your affiliate a percentage or flat rate for each sale it generates from visitors it directs to you.

* Pay-per-click
You need to pay out the commission to your affiliates on every visitor they send to your website through their affiliate links on their websites. For example 1 cent per visitor, regardless on whether the customers perform any purchase of your product or service.

* Pay-per-lead
An affiliate is paid a percentage or flat rate if a visitor it refers submits a certain information request by you, for example a form being filled for requesting further information.

Affiliates also love your affiliate program if you combine residual commissions with a per-lead or per-sale commission structure. Under this structure, an affiliate will also receive his commission for subsequent purchases made by his referred customers.

The next thing to consider in your affiliate program is credibility. Does your affiliate site communicate a sense of confidence and security to your affiliates? You must also offer online, real-time states for affiliate and sub-affiliate commissions, including traffic stats. A good affiliate program will have positive reviews in the affiliate directories and many affiliates will choose to enroll into affiliate programs that have positive reviews.

Another important component is marketing resources. Your affiliate programs should provides compelling, contextual content about your products and services in the forms of text links, banners and sales letters. Other than that, you must keep in touch with your affiliates on a regular basis, giving instruction and encouragement through newsletters and tutorials.

Finally, a successful affiliate program should have customer service and support not just for your customers but also your affiliates. Be prepared to response to questions and enquiries in various forms such as emails, faxes, phone calls or instant messages from your affiliate promptly and professionally so that you build good relationship with your affiliate. A good relationship between merchant and affiliates are essential to ensure the success of an affiliate marketing program.

Summary

As a merchant to make up a successful affiliate marketing program, you should keep the basic program components in mind and you will go a long way towards building and maintaining a successful affiliate marketing program.

By: Scott L.Bamboo

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Scott Bamboo is the author for www.onlinebusinessrevenue.info. The information requested from you on the affiliate business program sign-up forms differ from program to program. You may have already noticed that some programs request an awful lot of information whilst others request minimal information.

The affiliate internet business sign-up form will request you to give your name and email address. You will also be asked to choose a username and password. The username is a name that you would like to be known as while being an affiliate of the program and it may also be used by you to login to your affiliate panel and sometimes used in your affiliate url. So choose a name that is easy to type and remember and usually it must be a minimum of 5 characters long.

When it comes to entering your password, do not get confused and insert the password that you use to access your email account of the email address you have just provided. Choose a totally new password and type it all in small letters.

It is really important that you enter your email address correctly because more often than not the first thing that will happen is they will send an email to you requesting you to confirm that your email address is correct and that you did in fact request to be signed-up and agree to receive information from them.

Sometimes on the sign-up form you may be asked to confirm your email address. This simply means that you must type the same email address again in the box provided.

You may also have seen a note on the affiliate internet business program page asking you to white list their email address. This is to ensure that you do in fact receive the email they are going to send you. So you need to add their email address to your address book so that it will not be blocked by spam filters or end up in your spam folder.

The first email you receive from the affiliate program may request you to click on a confirmation link. Once you click on the confirmation link then you should receive an introductory email containing your affiliate information, such as username, password, link to access the affiliate program, your affiliate url etc., etc.

Click on the link to access the affiliate section of your affiliate internet business, once it is open in your browser Bookmark it in your Favorites so that you have easy access to it in the future. So as to keep your Favorites well organized, you could prior to doing this create a folder in your Favorites called Affiliate Programs and then bookmark your first program in that folder.

If you are not sure how to create a new folder, click on Favorites on your horizontal menu above your browser window, click on Organize Favorites, click on New Folder and type in the name of your new folder, press Enter and then click on Close. Now open your Favorites sidebar (in Windows XP a star icon on the left of your screen or press Alt+C) and you will see your new folder.

The first time you access your affiliate back office it is a good idea to go to your Profile or Personal Information page just to check that the information you inserted on the sign-up page is correct and you will probably be requested to enter further information.

It is really important to ensure that you provide the correct information they require in order to pay you. If they are paying by cheque be sure that your postal address is 100% correct. If they are using a payment processor such as for example PayPay or AlertPay you will notice that they request an email address. This is how these two payment processors work, your email address is your account number. So you would then have to open an account at PayPay or AlertPay (or whatever processor they are using) and then return to this page and enter the email address that you used to open the account.

Other payment processors do give you an actual account number, but you will normally be prompted on your profile page to enter an email address or account number so it is not easy to make a mistake.

As you will receive regular emails from the affiliate internet business programs that you join, it is a good idea to open a folder in your email account with the name of the affiliate program and file them away which helps keep you organized so that you can easily locate them. Be sure to save the email you receive with your sign up information.

Once the sign-up process is over you are now officially an affiliate and you have your own affiliate internet business. Congratulations! It is now time to get to work!

Spend time exploring your back office, go through all the links so that you get a good understanding of the program and go through the training program that they provide. Study the marketing materials such as the web page for you to market, internet marketing methods they recommend, banners, text links, splash pages, examples of solo adverts, email ads and classified ads etc.

Many of the affiliate internet business programs will provide you with the name and contact details of your sponsor so don’t be afraid to contact them if you need assistance. Also you may well find that the affiliate program has a forum, if so, I highly recommend you spend time there as they are not only usually a gold mine of information but where you can ask questions and seek advice from other affiliate internet business owners.

Perhaps you are considering joining a number of affiliate internet business programs in order to earn multiple streams of income, if so it would be a good idea to get your own domain and market all the programs together on your own website. I wish you every success with your affiliate internet business.

By: Cynthia Minnaar

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Cynthia Minnaar is the owner of www.cyns-home-biz.com. If you have some spiffy new gimmick on your website this may be easy as everyone will be linking to you.
However, with a basic, solid web page the process maybe much more difficult and slower. How do you get people to link to you?
The best way is to empty your wallet! Ok, just kidding, but first we will learn how easy that is.
For example there is a pay for blogging service that will cost you at least $5 per blog post (ie: per link) and maybe $25 or more. Now that will eat up your budget, and fast. These paid blog links don't come with any guarantee. You might get lots of visitors and you might not get any at all.
Pay per click is another great option for spending all your money. This will bring you visitors for sure and you'll know how much each one costs. That's it. There is no long term benefit. The ads show for only as long as you pay for them. When your money isn't on the table, you don't exist!
You can buy links all over the place and again this may end up costing you a pretty penny, you may or may not get suitable results but when you stop paying the results (good or bad) stop. You gain nothing for the future.
Now blogs are a great way to get visitors and develop a long term return. Blog posts tend to stick around for a long time. The trick here is to get people to blog about your website without forking over a bundle of your hard earned cash.
A great idea is to become a guest blogger. This would be where you write blog posts for other people's blogs. Read: your links on someone else's website for free!
This puts you in the drivers seat for a couple of reasons. First you have control over exactly what is said. Secondly, if you do a good job you may have the opportunity to make regular blog posts. That will build an audience on the blogs for your writing and turn into more and higher quality traffic for your website.
The key to being a great guest blogger is to write short (3 to 6 or so paragraph) posts that are interesting, informative, humorous and relevant to the topic of the blog (and your website). Of course they should have a link to your website. Don't over do the linking. Don't make it sound like an advertisement or something you just cut and pasted from your website.
A few minutes to compose a couple of well thought out paragraphs could do wonders for your web traffic. Keep looking for guest blogging opportunities and never use the same post for more than one blog. One post could bring a lifetime of traffic.
This may well be your most effective way to developing quality web traffic and enhancing your the SEO for your website(s).

Provided by ArticleGOLD: Articles Directory - Article Directory
Maxinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5309178260973001880.post-60041124438696802852007-10-08T08:04:00.001-07:002007-10-08T08:04:29.654-07:00How Engineers Earn Cash by Sharing Their Knowledge and Experiences
Every engineer has a specific engineering knowledge as he graduated from university or college. When engineers work, their working experiences develop. Each of them has unique experiences, since they work in different organizations, different companies, and various industries.

Unfortunately, most of engineers do not realize the advantages they already have. Most of them do not like to compile their unique knowledge and experiences in form of writing. They just save their knowledge and experiences in their heads. If engineers want to write what they know and their experiences, they could share with other people, such like student, fresh engineers, or anyone else, who search everyday for such kind of information. Even many people would like to exchange their cash to get the information.

By using the internet, engineers could compile their knowledge and experience with easy, free of charge and effective. No programming skills required. You only need to be familiar with using the internet. The easiest and fastest way is through blogging or blog. All you need to start compiling your knowledge and experience are already provided and these are free of charge. Moreover, you could earn cash while you compile the information you have, i.e. through targeted affiliate program. The most common such affiliate program is Google Adsense. Adsense is free to join and could give nice income for you. http://inside-chemical-plant.blogspot.com is an example of engineer’s blog that built using the same principles. The author posts about everything inside a chemical plant, his daily engineering jobs and his own thought about an engineering issue.

To build your own blog, you only need to follow five easy steps as described below. Please finish each step completely. Do not jump to the third step before completing the second step.

1. Do keywords research. Find out what keywords match with your blog’s topic. Do not use keywords for your blog that currently have 10,000,000 websites or blogs competitors. Use search engine and directory for keywords research. To get good keywords you can visit wordtracker.com. At wordtracker.com you will have chance to search best keywords based on KEI or Keywords Effective Index at a low price.

2. Create an account at blogger.com. Use the keywords you have chosen in your blog title and blog address. Having created your account, pick up a blog template that you think is suitable with your topic. Start your first post for your new blog. It may contain a welcome letter or anything else. Do not forget to publish your blog.

3. Sign up as Google Adsense Publisher. It may take about 48 hrs to get approval. After getting approval, you can start immediately insert Adsense Code into your blog. Read Adsense Terms and Conditions, to make sure you do not ignore Adsense rules. To insert Adsense code into your blog, simply click Template Adsense. You can choose text ads, link ads, Adsense referral or Google search. You may also customize the ads appearance that matches with your blog to get a high Click Through Rate (CTR).

4. Post regularly to your blog. Remember to use keywords in your post. Readers will love updated and original contents, as well as the search engines. Vary your posts, between short and long posts. It is good to insert picture to your post sometimes to make it interesting

5. Promote you blog to major search engines and directories such as Google, Yahoo and MSN. Moreover, do not forget to add your blog to blog directories because these will generate traffic to your blog. You can find list of search engines and directories at http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55 . Other sources of traffic to your blog are link exchange with other blogs on your niche, actively involve in forums and placing good comments to other blogs. Also submit your own articles, which contain a back link to your blog, to article directories and ezines. To make people find that you have updated your blog without visiting your blog, you should prepare RSS for your blog. Do not worry blogger.com has provide it for you.

Actually, if people find your blog is valuable to them, naturally they will come back to your blog and invite their friends. Your blog will grow naturally. So, always bear in mind to make your posts original and valuable.

Building a blog is not a quick-rich scheme business, but a long-term business that potentially will give you a good source of income as it grows.

Provided by ArticleGOLD: Articles Directory - Article Directory
Maxinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5309178260973001880.post-48869984156943503772007-10-08T07:56:00.000-07:002007-10-08T08:03:49.755-07:00Blog for Free and Make Money Too!
It's true! I promise you, once you get past the learning curve, it's fairly easy to have your own blog.

So, what's a blog, Jim? I'm glad you asked! A blog is your own address in cyberspace, your own on line bulletin board so to speak, where you can post your comments, ideas, plans, loves, hassles, or pet peeves to share with the world - and - the world will talk back to you! I invite you to take a few minutes and browse the sections of my blogs (see Author Box) to get an idea of what I have done so far. I began blogging in May 2006 with one blog and absolutely no prior experience! I now have 15 blogs covering a wide variety of topics.

What could your blog be about? For example: I told my daughter that she should start a blog on Home Birthing or Midwifery. She does this for a living and knows all the inside information. She created her blog in a few hours and it's now on line getting visitors.
I also told my step-son that he should have a blog on NASCAR, his first love, or on Auto & Life Insurance, his career. He has tons of knowledge in both. Actually, he could have blogs on both! He has not taken the plunge just yet. He is going for his college degree first.
I told my daughter-in-law that she should have a blog about Custom Furniture. She designs and builds furniture. These are one-of-a-kind pieces. I think she could make a nice income from her talent. She just gave us a new grandaughter so she's pretty busy right now but I know she will do it. She is excited over the idea.

Get my point? You choose what your blog topic is. With the new video and audio widgets now coming into popularity you can even have blogs sharing home movies, you own movie creations, music, you name it. And, best of all, it's all Free!

You'll find lots of Free Resources and some paid resources on my blogs (see Author Box) but here are some quick resources.

I learned a lot about the technical stuff by joining Google Groups. Bloggers ask each other questions and learn from experienced bloggers who teach you how to avoid making mistakes. It cuts down the learning curve significantly! Yes, it's Free to join and ask questions. You will find links to some of the most helpful Free blog building resources in Google Groups because the experienced bloggers all have blogs offering Free technical help.
In my opening to this article I mention Google paying you for running Ads on your blog. Well, it's called Google Adsense. It's Free to signup and easy to implement. Google has an Adense Tour on their start page. Basically Google pays you everytime someone clicks on an Ad on your blog even if they don't buy anything. It's easy to set up once you have your blog set up. Check my blogs to see what I have done with Google Adsense.

If you do decide you want your own Free Blog, I recommend Blogger.com. That's where I started and where I have all my blogs hosted - all Free! In addition to Adsense Ads you can sell products on your blog too as long as you don't overdo it. Blogs are supposed to be about your thoughts and ideas, not about selling products. I have products on my blogs that I sell for commissions plus lots of freebies but the focus of every blog is to provide thoughtful information. The key is good Free content and lots of it.

"Content" is articles by you, or others, that will draw the Search Engines to your blog. A Search Engine got you here didn't it? The Search Engines need content to find you. They search by the words ( they're called "keywords") in your articles and in your page "Description" which you create when you create your blog. Look at the top of my blogs, under the name of the blog - "On Line Tribune............" - to see what I mean. I have keywords in the Description of each of my blogs. This tells the Search Engines what each blog is about so that someone searching for that particular information will find me.

Right now you have enough information to decide if you want a blog or a website. Remember the difference. A blog is an opportunity to put your ideas out there for everyone to see and comment upon. A website is usually a commercial venture that is built to sell products or services. It does not usually have a blog format where customers can talk to each other like they can on a blog. However, many companies are now realizing the value of blogging with their customers and have installed blogs on their commercial websites. If you have something to sell on-line or even have a bricks and mortar business, and you don't have a website, check out my Favorite Links
