The good news is that since New Years day fell on a Tuesday, the rest of this week is still considered in-season. There will still be crowds the rest of this week, but they won't be nearly as big as when New Year's Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday. Because of this schedule, you can ride Haunted Mansion Holiday daytrippingmomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5306216.post-1149572648877103292006-06-05T22:39:00.000-07:002006-06-05T22:44:08.886-07:00Let me begin by saying that I am totally impressed with the work going on in the submarine lagoon. It looks like we're going to get one great attraction next year, even if the capacity is much lower than what we are all used to for "E" tickets. It is quite exciting to have someone like John Lasseter giving his creative input directly at WDI. In other places, I landed an internship at Newline daytrippingmomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5306216.post-1146977965745601452006-05-06T21:54:00.000-07:002006-05-06T21:59:25.753-07:00I am just days away from finishing out my second semester at film school. I have a huge paper on film theory to write. Also, I am trying to come up with a topic for the main thesis project that will be completed a year from now. Right now I am thinking of writing about Disney feature animation following Walt's death. It would be an analyzation of how Disney as an auteur affected the future daytrippingmomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5306216.post-1143092171226213652006-03-22T21:29:00.000-08:002006-03-22T21:36:11.236-08:00At the beginning of the month, Movieland Wax Museum auctioned off most of their museum. I made sure to sign up a long time ago in order to be able to be a bidder. I doubted that I would be able to afford anything, but it was still worth trying. Well, I spent several hours online simultaneously biddering against people on the floor there at the museum. It seemed I was being outbid on daytrippingmomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5306216.post-1130902953046685712005-11-01T19:42:00.000-08:002005-11-01T19:45:05.540-08:00Sadly, another part of my childhood has gone away. Movieland Wax Museum closed it's doors last night forever. Sadly, most of the pieces will be auctioned off to who-knows-where. Some items will wind up at Fisherman's Wharf but I doubt it will include some of the detailed sets that go with the figures. I have fond memories of my visits there as a child, including my earliest memory around age 5 daytrippingmomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5306216.post-1115413333397852152005-05-06T14:02:00.000-07:002005-05-06T14:02:13.440-07:00Yesterday, I braved the crazy crowds and went to Disneyland. I arrived at a little after 8 am and was stuck in DTD waiting to go though the security checks. They had stopped letting people in because the lines to go through the main entrance turnstiles had backed up to the entrance of DCA. At 8:30 they let people in and we started moving. By 8:50, I was on Main Street. At 9, they dropped thedaytrippingmomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5306216.post-1114785149406015942005-04-29T07:32:00.000-07:002005-04-29T07:32:29.406-07:0005/05/05 I will be at Disneyland!  Where will you be?  Report to follow...   daytrippingmomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5306216.post-1107281235560739042005-02-01T10:07:00.000-08:002005-02-01T10:07:15.560-08:00Here we are with a new year upon us. On this Groundhog's day eve, I find myself pondering about kidney stones, parenthood and how friggin cool May 5th will be. First off, kidney stones suck. Until it passes, the pain can come and bite you at anytime and ruin your day. Today is one of those days. Luckily, my friend vicodin chases the pain away and puts me in lala-land. But first, we must remember to be thankful on Thanksgiving day. I am especially greatful for the Native Americans who trusted the white man as they were systematically removed from the lands and sent to concentration camps, aka reservations. Thank you Indians! daytrippingmomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5306216.post-1091640217582674692004-08-04T10:23:00.000-07:002004-08-04T10:24:33.240-07:00My wife last night asked me what some of my earliest memories of Disneyland were. My earliest is around 1980 going to Disneyland with my mom, dad and brother. He was probably just over a year old at that time. I have specific memories of Captain Hook's ship with the Chicken of Sea restaurant, seeing the front of Country Bear Jamboree with either a C or D ticket sign posted at the entrance. I saw it last night and was thoroughly moved by it. Go see it and draw your own conclusions. Here a few responses sent in today 6/26/04 to michaelmoore.com regarding the film. In fact, that is an outright bomb for a picture that cost approximately $100 million to produce. This is following close on the heals of Home on the Range and Hildago, which both cost close to the same amount. 3 expensive failures and we are only in April?! Spalding Gray?s body was finally found. I say "finally," even though he was still considered simply a missing person. I knew when I heard that he had disappeared that it was only a matter of time before he would be found deceased. Only recently did I discover daytrippingmomnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5306216.post-106789026496108352003-11-03T12:11:00.000-08:002003-11-03T12:11:19.843-08:00My time flies. I am 3/4 of the way through my first trying semester of Law School. Halloween has now come and gone. I made it over to Halloween Haunt twice. Another great year over there. Haunted Mansion Holiday rocks this year. The addition of Oogie Boogie was a terrific touch. The animatronic Oogie was one of the best I have ever seen. Have you counted all the Oogie surprises? Life is busy. The Park is a great place to get away and relax. I should take some of my own advice and do just that. I must mention that Kevin Yee's new trivia book is excellent for any Disneyland buff like myself. I also have taken his advice and I got a copy of Raiding the Magic Kingdom. The Park is 48 years old. While the magic is still there, depending on who you ask, the place has continued Walt's legacy faintly. He did say the place would never be completed as long as there was imagination left in the world. Well in 1995 we got Indy, in 1999 we got Tarzan's hijacked treehouse and now in 2003 we got daytrippingmomnoreply@blogger.com
