This blog is to let readers and visitors to the site know how I feel about some of the issues of the day. Occasionally I try to be funny and quite often I use this as a tool to let people know about upcoming events. Comments are welcome and I am open to adding posters, just send an email to blog@thebikinglife.com.Jimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18026489300749362426jim@thebikinglife.comBlogger430125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301403953994857987.post-55420436497088563312009-07-09T08:00:00.000-06:002009-07-09T08:02:24.806-06:00Biker Parties Tonighteos Wings on West Main St in Belleville, IL and PT's in Centreville on Hwy 157 both are having their bike tonight. These are both fun places and both are sponsored by The Biking Life magazine. I suggest coming out early to Geo's and then hit PT's and their lovely entertainers. Both places may have a visit by the renowned Mowhawk Man

Jimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18026489300749362426jim@thebikinglife.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301403953994857987.post-8788087978365068482009-07-07T08:17:00.001-06:002009-07-07T08:18:51.689-06:00From The Other Side of The Pond

Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14605616477534504140noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301403953994857987.post-28776403599443767892009-07-07T07:47:00.006-06:002009-07-07T13:43:27.046-06:00I Take Great PrideHi readers someone told me one of my competitors is claiming to have a bike night that rivals what we do at Geo's Wings on a regular basis. The thing that makes me proud though is they combine attendance at 3 franchised locations, of a company headquartered in Florida, they themselves are franchised out of Florida, they partner with a radio station that is headquartered in Indianapolis and a brewer that is headquartered in Belgium, it takes all these out of towners with vast resources to compete with The Biking Life magazine and Geo's Wings two independent local businesses. In fact my competitor now has people attending our bike night because in their own words it is fun and they know it is a place where they will find a lot of bikers. I guess I should take that as a compliment.

Jimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18026489300749362426jim@thebikinglife.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301403953994857987.post-53967944501916183312009-07-04T13:58:00.002-06:002009-07-04T14:02:52.205-06:00Independence Day Inspiration by Johnny Cash

Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14605616477534504140noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301403953994857987.post-18639729707900325612009-07-02T15:05:00.004-06:002009-07-02T15:27:52.620-06:00Missouri Helmet Bill is Vetoed by Governor

Missouri governor Jay Nixon has vetoed Senate Bill 202 which would have modified the helmet law for Missouri motorcycle riders. Should everyone have a license and insurance no doubt but you are also innocent until proven guilty and cannot be forced to testify against yourself in court but on the street you can be forced to show that you do not have what they ask for. Hmm I wonder what the penalty for refusing to show a license and insurance is?

Jimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18026489300749362426jim@thebikinglife.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301403953994857987.post-53200688407412119012009-06-23T06:45:00.001-06:002009-06-23T06:45:38.532-06:00I am riding tonightIn fact I like that idea so much the first 5 people that show up at one of our bike nights during the next two weeks I will give them one of our retrospective DVDs. starting tonight at No Jacks Bar on ILL 159 in Smithton, IL also last week they started a drawing and the owner of the place seeded the pot with $500 where else could you possibly win that kind of money legally and get to hang out with friends.

Jimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18026489300749362426jim@thebikinglife.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301403953994857987.post-50512674952037770842009-06-22T16:14:00.000-06:002009-06-22T16:15:03.200-06:00Some of the many things going on this weekJust a quick reminder of some of the things that will be going on in the next couple of days in the motorcycle world. This is an event for charity There is another event downtown being sponsored by a local promoter who doesn't want people wearing patches at his other events, nuff said.

There is another event though going on at 5300 North Broadway a save the bar party at the Broadway Bistro Zoo. Where the real party animals go they are having lots going on with bands and spaghetti wrestling this lady tries to make her bar for bikers and deserves our support, rather than people who limit our freedom. The owner needs our help to raise money so she can buy the bar and save this St Louis landmark from being turned into a place that would not be biker friendly as it is now. There will be bands and all sorts of fun activities going on all weekend including the girls from Unleashed Entertainment in spaghetti wrestling. Please come out and support the bar, the owner is truly hardworking and has created a haven for motorcyclists on the north side of St Louis.

This is where the real party animals party.

Jimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18026489300749362426jim@thebikinglife.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301403953994857987.post-53974192666221455022009-06-18T08:51:00.003-06:002009-06-18T09:09:25.071-06:00Thursday Night Acctivities
Today is Thursday which means another fun night at Geo's Wings. This Belleville, IL hot spot on West Main st is by far the area's most popular bike night. We even had some guests last week that it appears were trying to see what makes a successful bike night. I invite all of you to come out and experience Geo's and then afterwards PT's in Centreville, IL Bike Night

I would also like to remind all of you that this Saturday is the Annual Hartbauer/McBride Foundation dance. This is a dance supported by many of the local clubs and organizations and is very strongly supported by us at The Biking Life I urge you all to attend this event. There are other events this weekend that are being sponsored by entities that have events where you are not allowed to show your allegiance to the organizations/clubs that you belong to. You know we will not be there, I cannot tell anyone what to do, or what to wear nor would I want to, I'll leave that to others. You must judge for yourself whether you want to support people and businesses who do not support true bikers.

Jimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18026489300749362426jim@thebikinglife.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301403953994857987.post-27455205113664043282009-06-17T08:02:00.002-06:002009-06-17T08:04:03.284-06:00No Rain TonightCan it possibly be? At some of those you can no longer find the people's choice for reading material, so I thought I'd post here a new location where you can get it in that area. I usually don't do this sort of thing because the only way some folks(ie. my competitors) can find a bike related location is if they read about it or see an ad in The Biking Life. But now the Pevely Flea Market will have them in a rack inside the main building. My apologies for not making this arrangement sooner but at least it did get done. As always I thank you for making us part of your biking life.

Jimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18026489300749362426jim@thebikinglife.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301403953994857987.post-23555468415315116122009-06-12T14:10:00.001-06:002009-06-12T14:11:59.780-06:00We Lost Another RiderV-Rod Mike of the Boozefighters who lost his life Thursday morning. Yes the local members of the Hell's Angels were going to have their Annual Summer Bash at Paddy McD's, I think it is in Mitchell, IL but not sure this coming Saturday. It is an open party that the public is invited to. I have been to this event several times had fun and not seen any behavior I haven't seen at any event. Yet for some reason, rumor has it, the Illinois State Police approached the owner of the establishment and told him he could lose his license if he allowed the party to go on there. This man fearful of losing his livelihood, much like we lost money at our swap meet by the overbearing police presence relented so the party has been moved to Blondie's in Washington Park.

This is the third incident in less than one year where the police have tried to stop or stopped events. Last summer they stopped a Sons of Silence Ride in Central Illinois. Shutting down the bars on the route and generally harassing people. You saw their presence in Collinsville, IL and now this.

These are not elected officials who are making these decisions but rather law enforcement officials who in the truest sense answer to no one. I thought our forefathers came here to get away from that sort of treatment. When you get stopped at a safety Check Point and asked for your license and insurance, how different is that from when the Nazi's would stop folks and ask to see their transit papers, not much I don't think.

I imagine some of you are saying to yourself, well, I don't mind if they do that to the Hell's Angels MC or Outlaws MC or Sons of Silence MC but when you think like that what you forget is how long does it take before somebody decides they don't like your group and then you may find yourself on the other side of the argument.

A place you don't want to be if all a law enforcement official has to say when asked why is their usual "Because I said so." People if we do not awaken to these issues soon we will find ourselves even worse off. Thanks for making us part of your biking life.

Jimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18026489300749362426jim@thebikinglife.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5301403953994857987.post-44819292999901700172009-06-11T09:31:00.002-06:002009-06-11T09:34:13.837-06:00Happy Anniversary to My WifeToday is the third anniversary of what was at that point the happiest day of my life but each passing day has gotten better.
