(a comment offering a fine home too for that silent silhouette ...)

quite intrigued by the "uncannily accurate" portrait - you did not post it on Flickr??? ;-)

& twin towers pre 9/11 ... wowffflaneurhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04697821220291240079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5281402533658280011.post-8420823603734619522008-04-20T23:50:00.000-07:002008-04-20T23:50:00.000-07:00fantastic. I see...a figure in silhouette poring o...fantastic. I see...a figure in silhouette poring over a book or four, a patch of aloof bluegrey calm frozen in the middle of frantic Times Square, occasionally looking up to soak it all up, while the city zips madly around it - neon flashes and friendly faces, police sirens howling in the distance - a bit like one of those time lapse photography thingums. :-)

I have my own tiny collection of memories of the two, rather short, trips to the city...pulsating smells, sounds and images...especially the one made before 9/11, a visit to the roof of the twin towers, now a poignant memory, the chinese guy on the street who pitched and succeeded in selling me my portrait (uncannily accurate!), the gregarious African American guy selling fake watches, etc.

aah - "these mundane hours, hours during which I merely lived on the surface of my skin" :-)Phoenixnoreply@blogger.com
