Over the last few weeks the Oklahoma Conservative Political Action Committee (OCPAC) invited candidates to be interviewed who are running for the Oklahoma State House of Representatives and State Senate in the upcoming general election. OCPAC is a statewide organization, headquartered in Edmond, which financially contributes to legislative candidates running in qualified districts and who the members vote to endorse.

Lewis Moore received OCPAC’s endorsement for the State House of Representatives District #96.

The interview process involved allowing the candidates to speak for several minutes followed by a series of questions on campaign contributions, morality within legislation, and taxation methodologies. Once answered the members had ample time to grill the candidates on other or more specific issues. Organizational Chairman Charlie Meadows said, "even though it takes a majority of votes to receive our endorsement and the members are not even required to endorse anyone it was obvious, with his understanding and clarity on positions along with his strong convictions, Lewis Moore a is conservative candidate and won our endorsement with overwhelming support."

When it comes to legislative seats the organization is looking for candidates with solid conservative core values and instincts. OCPAC Chairman, Charlie Meadows said, "we are looking for candidates who have an understanding of free market economics, a desire to reform and improve education, stand for Judeo/Christian values, have good communication skills, a passion to make a positive difference and are dedicated to funding the proper functions of government and leaving those things that should be done by the private sector, to the private sector." All legislative candidates are required to fill out a 10 question survey and appear before the group for what can sometimes be a tough question and answer process before they are eligible to receive our endorsement.

While speaking about why he wanted to run for the State House of Representatives Moore stated that he was a Constitutionalist, believes in limited government, and that our founding fathers had it right. Moore has a passion for Education and believes we should get back to teaching the basics of math, science, and reading. Moore also believes that cutting taxes and reducing business regulation will support economic growth.

OCPAC meets every Wednesday for lunch at the Italiano’s Restaurant in Oklahoma City. With 165 dues paying membership and over 2500 people receiving the weekly e-mails, OCPAC is the largest, most active club in the state of Oklahoma supporting Republicans as well as attempting to hold elected Republicans accountable to conservative principles.

It's the day we've been working towards. July 29th is here and we need everyone to get out and vote!

My family and friends have been pitching in and helping me throughout this process. We've been up and going early today ... I hope to see you at the voting booth!

I have known Lewis Moore since 1977 when he and I worked as Rangers, teaching backpacking, at the Boy Scouts of America's ultimate high adventure base--Philmont Scout Ranch. From those early days fresh out of high school we kept in touch throughout our military careers and later as we both faced challenges raising children and keeping our careers on track. Because of my experiences with Lewis throughout the years, I handpicked him to help improve some key processes and increase the membership of the 2500 member non-profit service organization (the Philmont Staff Association) that I lead. I have been consistently pleased with his strong work and outstanding results he delivers on every task he attempts.

I was lucky enough to call Oklahoma home for three years as I flew on the E-3 AWACS out of Tinker AFB. I know and love the strong people of Oklahoma and know that Lewis is the kind of strong leader that doesn't hesitate to step up and do the right thing--no matter how difficult. Lewis is the person to represent the people of H96--and I am proud to endorse him.

Meet Lewis Moore

My name is Lewis Moore, and I am asking for your support and vote to represent you in the State House of Representatives. I am a conservative, Christian Republican running for the seat being vacated by Lance Cargill. I hope to have the chance to personally visit with you in the coming weeks, but let me take this opportunity to share with you some of the reasons I am running for office.

I have always been interested in public service. As a young boy, I learned early on of the sacrifices that others have made for the freedoms that you and I enjoy as Americans. As early as I can remember, I was fascinated
by the Armed Forces. I enrolled in military school and took an interest in artillery and the combat arms. During college I joined the National Guard and went on to serve in the U.S. Army as an Artillery officer on active duty.

After 12 years of military service, I decided to pursue a career in insurance. I was drawn to this field after watching a badly injured fellow active duty officer struggle to take care of his family’s needs after his injury, and being along side my father after he became disabled. I decided I wanted to help people make sure that their needs and the needs of their family would be taken care of in difficult situations.

I moved to Oklahoma City from Tulsa to open a district office, bringing my new wife, Patti, with me.We quickly fell in love with eastern Oklahoma County and eventually made our home just down the road from the Red Barn in Arcadia. During our 17 years of marriage we have been blessed with three wonderful children, Micah,13, Nathan, 11 and Jackson, 9.

I have coached my kids’ basketball and football teams whenever possible and currently serve as Cub Master of my sons Cub Scout pack. As a family, we are very active and involved in our community and with Faith Bible Church, where we are members.

I am grateful to be able to provide our children with a great quality of life. I consider eastern Oklahoma County’s many small communities to be the state’s best kept secret.We have friendly people, beautiful stretches of green open spaces, and people here value their family time and are active in their churches and their communities.

We have the best of both worlds - easy access to jobs and the amenities of the metro area, yet we get to live slightly away from the hectic pace and enjoy Oklahoma’s natural beauty.

I am running for office because we need a state representative who recognizes the uniqueness of eastern Oklahoma County and will work to protect and preserve our way of life. I believe we can boost our local economy by building on these strengths and assets. As your state representative, I pledge to give equal treatment to all of
eastern Oklahoma County’s communities - East Edmond, Arcadia, Choctaw, Harrah, Jones, Luther and Newalla.

I am also running for office because I think Oklahoma is capable of being even better and I want to help find solutions for the problems that are keeping us from reaching our full potential. You shouldn’t have to win the lottery to be able to provide a good life for your family. I want all the people of Oklahoma to be able to have a balanced life of work and family time, to have safe roads and bridges to travel on, to have safe communities to live and work in, to have lower taxes and limited government spending, and to have great educational and job opportunities. I will also work strongly for traditional values and the right to life.

I have a lot of ideas for improving the future, but I am also interested in hearing your thoughts. Over the next few months I will be revealing more details about my plans for the state and our district, and I encourage you to contact me with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your time.

Lewis H. Moore, an Edmond resident, is running for the District 96 seat in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Lewis and Patti Moore have three children at Oklahoma Christian School where Patti is a teacher. The Moore family attends church at Faith Bible Church also in Edmond.

Lewis is a strong conservative who believes in keeping taxes low, keeping state government spending within its means and supporting the constitutions of the Great State of Oklahoma and the United States of America.
