The recently published report indicates the number of couples living together has increased 65% to 2.3 million in the last 10 years. In the same time period married couple families dropped by 4% to 12.1 million.

The report includes forecasts, predicting that by the year 2031 there will have been a 250% in cohabiting couples aged 45-64.

JCnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089885448812090273.post-11465805246812283842007-09-20T15:56:00.000+01:002007-09-20T16:04:21.405+01:00Real Flower ConfettiWhen we got married (over 10 years ago) we wondered beforehand if the vicar would allow us to have confetti thrown outside the church. At the time, it wasn't a problem and our family and friends threw handfuls of paper confetti.

Nowadays however, paper confetti is often frowned upon and sometimes is not allowed. But don't worry! The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company offers a fantastic, completely natural, superior alternative. Using a wide range of flower petals including:

Delphinium

Hydrangea

Rose

Skeleton leaves

confettidirect.co.uk have a great, unique product that also solves the problem of paper confetti - flower petals are of course biodegradable.

JCnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089885448812090273.post-55449210211841597802007-09-14T16:08:00.000+01:002007-09-14T16:19:05.320+01:00Iced Gems From icedgems.co.ukRosemary Evans is offering a range of wedding cakes from her appropriately named website icedgems.co.uk. Now you wouldn't know by looking at their website which predominately promotes magazines about shooting and outdoor life but they are soon to publish a new bookazine entitled Black Meringue. This new title is all about alternative weddings and should be available in all WH Smiths shops from late August. Sounds like it could be an interesting read - I love the title.

Blaze were enquiring about us placing an ad within Black Meringue for wedding insurance products. Unfortunately our ad spend for this year had already been budgetted for, so we won't be taking them up on the offer.

Along similar lines, if you're considering or preparing for your own alternative wedding pay a visit to like-minded people who discuss their own weddings at offbeatbride

JCnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5089885448812090273.post-67121706679711380542007-06-08T20:39:00.000+01:002007-06-08T20:55:58.624+01:00Weird Wedding LocationsTo some to-be weds a church ceremony is just way too mundane and just doesn't cut the mustard. So, for such couples they need a different way of celebrating their wedding day. With more and more venues applying for and obtaining the appropriate legal licence, couples can now get married in the strangest of locations. For example...

In Mid Air

Caroline Hackwood and Justin Bunn got married in mid air on top of an Utterly Butterly air display bi-plane over Rendcomb Airfield nr Cirencester in 2001.

In Freefall

Jumping out of a plane with your partner and the vicar is another bizare way of getting hitched. The Telegraph reports that a Georgia Minister, Bishop Anthony Owens (35) who served two years in prison on bigamy charges for having eight wives has been arrested over accusations of trying to marry at least four more! The couple married on May 26th, 1928 at Torpoint Registry Office in Cornwall. Mr Milford was earning the princely sum of £2.35 a week and saved up for months in order to afford his brides-to-be £6 diamond engagement ring.

The couples advice for other couples is simple: make time for a little romance everyday. Anita says
Couples these days don't last because they don't take enough time for each other, there isn't enough respect. Love is about give and take.

The couple have their eye on the record for recorded longest-ever marriage.
