No one demanded a new art print but we felt the need to wear smocks, mix ink and spend the evening printing. The results,this behemoth of a print titled "Tinder" is now ready for consumption. The print was hand pulled in three colors: mustard, rose, and deep red on a 26 x 40 sheet of 80lb French Dur O Tone black paper in an edition of 40. They are currently available for purchase at our Etsy Store Front for the paltry sum of 20.00. As an added incentive the first five orders will receive a special gift from the KMI Vault.

While cleaning up the office this weekend we stumbled across a treasure trove of abandoned Moleskine drawing books. Well, suffice to say, it didn't take long for inky hands to start filling them up with generic King Mini like images. For your viewing pleasure, may we present the first couple of folds. Fantagraphics Books is publishing a second volume of the popular book Beasts. Conceived and art directed by Jacob Covey the second volume, from the samples we have seen, will be not disappoint fans of the first volume. We where honored by the invite to participate in such a cool project and can't wait to see the final book. Here is a preview of the loose pencils for our beast "BugBear".

At the height of the Cold War, King Limestone was a symbol, a frightening radiated pile of stones bearing witness to humanities abuse of science. Like so many others, his star plumeted in the thaw of the Cold War. Struggling to stay afloat in a sea of debt and despair, King Limestone now travels the mining convention cuircut promoting the benifits of sedimentary rock as a representative of the Indiana Limestone Mining Consortium. Can he regain his dignity and the respect of a wife and daughter left waiting on Monster Island?

Here is the alternate version of the the "Junk House" illustration there are small differences between the final two version. The color in this version didn't fit the mood of the story, the house seemed just a bit to alive.

And here are a couple of the process drawings that lead to the final illustration. They are quick studies that help in getting a hold of the invisible aspects of the story. There are usually a half dozen or so drawings that have different bits and pieces that finally coalesce into one final illustration.

You might be wondering, what happens to all the scraps of fabric left over from the production of the Scumbag dolls? No? Well, this weekend King Mini International hosted the First Annual Scrap Sew Make Something Day. Participants where challenged to make something out of the scraps of felt and muslin.

The addition of pen, marker, and glitter really just pulled this entrants piece together.

The event proved to be a big success with the sole attendee.
