BWM 最近成功開發o左以氫及電油混合驅動引擎的7系,氫可行200km 加一般電油可行500km. BMW 的最終目標係以全氫運作,但此目標必須有相關的氫氣站及製氫的基建相配合.基實以液態氫作燃料並非新事,太空穿梭機及火箭都以液態氫作推動燃料. 液態氫最大嘅好處就係 不含碳(C) 在燃燒時與氧結合, 排出水蒸氣. 但純氫本身不如石油般出存在大自然中 , 必須以基他能原從水中分解, 無錯原料就是水, 排放也是水. 沒有電油中所含的碳分子,亦即沒有造成污染,溫室效應的CO2.產生純氫 2H2O - electricity-> 2H2 + O2.產能 2H2 + O2 -combustion (oxidation)-> 2H2O(水) + energy其實飛機亦應考慮轉用液態氫,因為飛機耗油量比氣車大得多.事在人為, 現有石油能源產業絕不輕易放棄現有利益, 新引擎亦都需要時間建立開發.
